A Syrian airliner flies in toward the Middle East when an engine breaks down...

"This is Syrian Flight 147 heavy, we've lost and engine and need somewhere to land in the Middle East, except Israel!"

static.........................

Syrian Flight 147: "This is Syrian Flight 147 heavy, we've lost another engine and a third is losing power! We need to land anywhere in the Middle East but Israel!"

still static................................

As the airliner begins its horrid descent into doom, the captain finally says: "This is Syrian Flight 147 heavy, we need to make an emergency landing in the Middle East... even Israel."

the static clears followed by: "This Tel Aviv I-T-L, Syrian 147 heavy, how may we help?"

Syrian Flight 147: "We've lost two engines and a third is losing power, we need somewhere to land, can you be of assistance???"

Tel Aviv: "Syrian 147 heavy, we would be happy to assist. Can you speak Hebrew?"

After a brief silence, Syrian Flight 147 responds: "No, Tel Aviv, none of us can speak Hebrew."

Tel Aviv: "Syrian 147 heavy, please repeat after me: Yit'gadal v'yit'kadash sh'meh rabba b'al'ma...." (the kadish, the prayer for the remembered dead)

I think the comm tower guy basically told them to pray some Jewish/Muslim prayer. It's said to the effect of, "Sure we can help you, do you have lips?" "Yes" "Okay, kiss your butt goodbye then."

I understood and smiled widely.

I guess I'm not getting the joke but reading that twice over time; where is the grace in getting that plane down to save the souls onboard despite the early 'except Israel'? Are we not to help to all costs? Sorry if I make a mountain out of a mole hill but how else are we the Body supposed to live? Isn't the Lord Jesus full of grace AND truth? John 1:14. Sorry if I'm too offensive now. It almost sounds vindicative which is understandable but... maybe I missed the joke. Sorry for any offense.

It does put Israel in a bad light considering they are still the chosen by God nation physically. I'm not discounting sinful human behavior on their part. Maybe I'm too sensitive but... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/39.gif)

Perhaps it is because you all are looking for a frivolous joke where the true intent is the fulfillment of God's righteous precepts concerning the wicked . . .
