[edit]
i was witnessing and in a sense talking theology to a man 25 years older.
He is very smart and definately a book work. He's constantly reading.
Long story short....we talked about Christianity and he definately does not believe the bible
is the word of God but rather a book by man.
He kept talking about books he read from the past and people that "altered" the bible.
I do got to admit that I know a little something but he knew authors and books that Ive never
heard of. I think his wife (who passed away) was Jewish so he knew OT scripture and that's when
i can come and say things that confirmed who Christ was but man this guy was not an average Joe Schmo.

anyways...I felt beaten even though I held my own. Fortunately he was not being rude but did tell me that
he has 25 years of reading (outside sources) than me so it's not as though he was trying to rip me apart.

all i can do is pray for him.
rant over. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

ex - you tried, brother, and in the trying I'm sure you exposed your heart. That's a good and true witness. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/emot-hug.gif)

Beatened??? How is that?

Isaiah 55:11
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

You did what the Lord wanted you to do. Some plant, some water and some harvest.

God Bless! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

Paul wrote about your wise man. There was really nothing you could do that you did not.

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate." 20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22 Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength. 26 Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things--and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."

Yo exrockstar...you make it sound as if praying for him is barely effectual:-

There are many people out there way smarter than us, and some of them are well versed in the history and composition of the Bible, and while up to a point we should be able to give reasonable answers to hard questions, we cannot be what we are not...what we are, and what we have been called to be is 'Witnesses to the Lamb of G-d'...some of the profoundest and most convincing testimonies I have ever heard, have not come from scholarly lips, but from a heart that overflows with the Spirit of Truth...when that occurs people lose sight of us, and begin to see the L-rd.

By the way my brother, the expression 'geeez'...is another way of saying Jesus...think about it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

You are a faithful witness. You did your part. the best thing you can do now is what you are doing- praying for the man.
