Try seeing if there is anything stuck under it, sometimes we find the strangest things in keyboards at work. Half a paper clip, a pin, a bit of toothpick, dust, breadcrumbs, that sort of thing. Don't try this at home, but you can actually pry the individual keys off a keyboard, including the space bar, but get someone who know's computers to do it for you!

Well, if you are running Windows, just hit start, go to accessories, and look around in drop menus in there for an on-screen keyboard. Should be in system tools or another folder in accessories.. That should tide you over until you can either fix, or place your keyboard. The on-screen keyboard can be used by mouse, so when you want to put a space, click the spacebar. ^.^ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

does..anyone...know.....anything...about..why..my..spacebar..might..not...be...w orking...This...is...no...fun. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/noidea.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) It depends on what kind of a keyboard you have. There may be something under the keyboard not letting it go down far enough to actuate the switch, or the switch is either very dirty or broken. If you have gotten any liquid on your keyboard that can be the problem also. Hold it upside down and get your mouth as close as you can and close your eyes and blow on it around the space bar as hard as you can. or get a can of air and blow it out that way if you have can..... or an air compressor. If that doesn't do it you will have to either take the keyboard apart and clean the membranes or replace the whole keyboard. I've taken many apart, but I worked for Xerox for about 37 years and did stuff like that for a living. I also had a new one in my van incase I couldn't fix it or occasionally put it back together. Occasionally even when all the screws are out prying it apart can break things, or someone may come along and bump your arm and pieces will really go flying off and you'll get a lesson of what is meant by the four ends of the world. I'd try and take it apart before I'd go buy a new one. |
