I shouldn't let it get to me, but I feeling rather down today - last night I went out for a meal with all my classmates in Newcastle. Two guys weren't in my half for tutorials (and so I never really talked to very much) who obviously didn't know I was a Christian started dissing Christianity, the Bible and Jesus. I didn't know what to say, but it really hurt my feelings.

It's one of the ways the devil attacks us sad.gif

Martin - I have had non-believers do this before to me, too. When I was very young and this would happen - I'd just quietly listen to them and change the subject. Apparently, as I've aged, I've gotten less tolerant of those people who freely feel the need to criticize Christians and say things that go against the teachings of Christ. Now, I listen to them and then I witness to them - at length. I let them know who Jesus is and why I feel the way I do. I share with them some Scriptures and testify to the power of God in my life and those of others. I invite them to my church and usually - they either start asking me respectful questions or they exit - quickly. The questions, I try to answer and I even offer to pray with and for them... but I will not be silent about Jesus ... I do not sit quietly by and 'ignore' the opportunity to speak up for Him. Blessings!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/emot-hug.gif)

Yes, part of the reason I feel discouraged is because I know I should have done something more positive (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

It's okay, Martin, don't be hurt by such things but, rather, feel sorry for those who don't know the Lord. I agree it's one of the ways the devil attacks us but, if you hold yourself up to the Lord, the evil one has no power over you. Remember, our faith doesn't need defending; it stands on it's own. Martin - I used to feel EXACTLY that way, too. I prayed for strength and the wisdom and the courage to address people like this. Just be yourself - you can be a wonderful witness. God Bless You!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/emot-hug.gif)

TY my sisters for your encouragement....
It's hard being in a largely unbelieving world, but then this is not a new problem! Our problems pale in comparison with those Christians under one of the many Roman persecutions
God bless

Hey, you shouldn't really kick yourself over and over about it. The enemy can use something like that too to make you feel inferior and sow seeds of doubt. You weren't prepared, and they caught you off guard. I'm not sure a person can always be prepared for every situation that could come up. Simply pray that through someone, perhaps you at some point, that they will be convicted and come to know Christ.

He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you. To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God. Micah 6:8

Thought:
Sometimes what we need to do is very simple and plain isn't it? I need to handle those around me justly --practicing patience, and dealing with others in fairness. I need to practice mercy --blessing others with what they don't deserve but so greatly need. I need to walk humbly with my Father--knowing without His grace and help I will fail.

blessings,
desi

Hey there Martin...Believer and Desi have given some great advice...

In my experience sometimes its good to jump in and witness at other times it is prudent to keep silent, but you have to discern what is going down. In the case you mentioned the other night...you blew it and you know it...you probably relive that evening and go through what you could have or should have said....but that time has gone. Put it behind you, realise you were caught out/off-guard, ask the L-rd to forgive you and give you boldness for the next time...forget what lies behind, and press on for what lies ahead....keep being changed into a holy vessel for His Glory.

May G-d richly bless you and administer His love and joy to you through the Holy Ghost.

All the best. Botz
