The election is drawing near. This is a critical election and there are many issues at stake. Let's pray for this election and our nation:
Heavenly Father,
You are sovreign. You are outside of time and know the beginning from the end so You already know the outcome of this election. Please forgive this nation for turning away from You.There are so many things that are being accepted today that are against Your word. Your Word and Your truth never changes. Please take the blindness away from the eyes of Christians and clear our minds and hearts to cast our vote for Christian values and against satan's influence. We know that prayer makes a difference. We know that if we humble ourselves and truly seek Your face and repent You will hear us and heal us.
Almighty God, You are all knowing. Have mercy upon us, though we do not deserve Your mercy. Forgive us, though we do not deserve Your forgivness. I ask for mercy and forgivness through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour
Amen

I didn't know exactly where to start this thread so if it needs to be moved someplace else.........
I believe that God has called me to issue a challenge to commitment. Most of us know that the National Day of Prayer is coming up in a few weeks. What I would like is for everyone who wants to post the name of your church (or a church for anyone who doesn't have a church home), a ministry, someone in leadership, etc.
My plan is to come here once a day or more and pray over the posts that I find. I really hope the list gets too long for me to pray over them all alone and that others will join me. Since the National Day of Prayer is in May, I would like to do this at least through that month but would be happy to start now and continue to do it beyond May.
My purpose is, well, with the Presidential Election coming up, the economy, wars and rumors of war, the Body of Christ, etc. the Bride of Christ has to be armed and ready to face circumstances that are beyond her control but not beyond the control of the Groom. The church seems to think that we are ill equipped but that's not true. We our not only equipped but we are called by God to pray.
Many of us (including myself) aren't comfortable praying publicly and God knows this. Could I be so bold as to ask that we not only pray but that we do pray publicly so as to encourage others.
I encourage you to participate in this prayer thread but also in the
National Day of Prayer locally.
I think it would also be cool if this could be pinned to make it an ongoing thread.
Let us pray!

I cannot remember who originally posted this agenda on WB. I would ask, in advance, for the forgiveness and indulgence of that person if I use it to my own purpose.
AGENDA
· To try and see everyone through the eyes of Jesus because my eyes are prejudiced and prideful.
· To try and love them like Jesus because my love is selfish.
· To let them others know that my relationship with Jesus has changed my life, given my life purpose, given me strength to endure tragedy, and real hope for the future.
· To be gentle in relating the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ to people in every situation and mired in any sin. My goal is to introduce them to Jesus and let them work out their salvation in fear and trembling.
· To exhibit grace and forgiveness to those who attack me for not sharing their views.
· To be an example of the living Christ to everyone I come in contact so that I can be salt and light to my little circle of influence.
· To be a advocate for those wounded by the church and other Christians. Our lack of unity must grieve the Lord who prayed for unity of the body during His final agonizing hours before His betrayal, mock trial, and crucifixion.
· To try to never be surprised or repulsed by the actions of those who do not have a relationship with Jesus. The Lord Himself was always gentle with sinners and always tough on religious hypocrites. We have reversed his example far too often. We are too tough on sinners and too gentle with the hypocrites.
· To try and give generously of my time and treasure to those who have not been as materially blessed in my neighbourhood, my country, and around the world.
· To let people know that I love Jesus and I am not at all ashamed of that fact.
In short, brothers and sisters in Christ may I paraphrase the words of the Apostle Paul by saying – I have not been a faithful servant – I have done that which I would not do and not done that which I should do……
I ask for the collective power of your prayers as I try to reaffirm the agenda.
Yours in Him, the Master

GOD speaks to us through nature and HIS providence. HE speaks to YOU and I at one time or another by the influence of HIS HOLY SPIRIT.
But these are not enough; YOU and I need also to pour out our hearts to HIM. In order to have spiritual life and energy, we MUST have actual communion with HIM. Our minds may be drawn out towards HIM; we may be drawn out toward HIM; we may meditate upon HIS works, HIS mercies, HIS blessings; but this IS NOT, in the fullest sense, communing with HIM. In order to commune with HIM, we MUST have something to say to HIM concerning our actual life.
PRAYER is the opening of YOUR heart to GOD as to a friend. It does NOT bring GOD down to us, but brings us up to HIM. JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF, while HE dwelt among mankind, was often in prayer. Our SAVIOUR identified HIMSELF with our needs AND weaknesses, in that HE became a suppliant, a petitioner, seeking from HIS FATHER fresh supplies of strength, that HE might come forth braced for duty and trial, 24/7. HIS humanity made prayer a necessity AND a privilege.
HE found comfort and joy in communion with our heavenly FATHER. Now....if the SAVIOUR of mankind, the SON of GOD, felt the need of prayer, how much more should feeble, sinful mortals like ourselves feel the necessity of fervent, constant prayer?! Our FATHER waits to bestow upon us the fullness of HIS blessings. It is YOUR and MY privilege to "drink" largely at the "fountain of boundless love". GOD is ready and willing to hear the sincere prayer of the humblest of HIS children, and yet there is much manifest RELUCTANCE on our part to make known our wants to HIM!
The darkness of the Evil One encloses those who neglect to pray. The whispered temptations of the Enemy entice them to sin; and it is all because they do not make use of the privileges that GOD has given them in the divine appointment of prayer. PRAYER is the key in the hand of faith to unlock Heaven's storehouse, where are treasured the boundless resources of our all-powerful FATHER. Listen.....without UNCEASING prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and diligent watching (1 Peter 5:8-9), YOU and I are in danger of growing careless and of deviating from the right path. The Enemy/Adversary seeks continually to obstruct the way to the Mercy Seat, that we may not by earnest supplication and faith obtain GRACE and POWER to resist TEMPTATION. YOUR spiritual heart must be open to the HOLY SPIRIT's influence, or GOD's blessing cannot be received (Matthew 7:7....Romans 8:32).
If we regard iniquity in our hearts, if we cling to ANY KNOWN sin, the LORD will not hear us; but the prayer of the penitent, contrite soul is ALWAYS accepted. When ALL KNOWN wrongs are righted, we may believe that GOD will answer our petitions (Hebrews 11:6). HE is faithful, so when we do not receive the very things we asked for, we are STILL to believe that HE hears, and that HE will answer our prayers. Our heavenly FATHER in agape love answers our prayers by giving us that which will be for our highest good - that which we ourselves would desire if with vision divinely enlightened we could see all things as they really are. When our prayers seem not to be answered, we are to cling to the promise; for the time of answering will surely come, and we will receive the blessing we need most. Don't always presume that GOD will answer your prayer in the way YOU desire. HE is too wise to err, and too good to withhold any good thing from YOU IF your spiritual walk is upright.
If YOU come to GOD feeling helpless and dependent, as we really are, and in humble, trusting faith make known our wants to HIM WHOSE knowledge is infinite, WHO sees everything in creation, and WHO governs everything by HIS Will and Word, HE can and will attend to our cry, and will let "LIGHT" shine into our hearts. We may not feel HIS invisible touch, but HIS hand is upon us in love and pitying tenderness. Come to HIM in prayer with a forgiving heart (Matthew 6:12). Unceasing prayer is the UNBROKEN UNION of YOUR soul with GOD, so that life from GOD flows into YOUR life; and from YOU purity and holiness flow back to GOD. Above all else don't ever neglect SECRET PRAYER. Tell GOD your deepest, darkest secrets, which HE already knows, but wants you to bring them to the surface and be honest with HIM, agreeing that they're wrong. In asking for HIS forgiveness (not that of men) HE will throw them as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12).
In solitude let YOUR soul be open to the inspecting eye of GOD. Secret prayer is to be heard ONLY by HIM. No curious ear is to receive the burden of such petitions. These are the things you would take to your grave. There is no chapter in our experience too dark for HIM to read. Come clean with HIM. No sin commited is too great to keep you from HIM, if you truly want to be cleaned up from the inside-out (Psalm 147:3). Satan cannot overcome those whose heart is stayed upon GOD. There is no time or place where it is inappropriate to offer up prayer to our LORD. In the middle of traffic, before a big event, prior to a meeting at work, or just before/after socializing with friends/enemies. It is the position of YOUR heart GOD views, not the position of YOUR body!
Keep your wants, joys, sorrows, cares, and fears before GOD. YOU cannot burden HIM...YOU cannot "wear HIM out". HE WHO numbers the hairs of YOUR head is not indifferent to the wants of HIS children (James 5:11). Take to HIM everything that perplexes YOUR mind. GOD does not mean that any of us should become hermits or monks and retire from the world, in order to devote ourselves to acts of worship. Our prayer life must be like CHRIST's. HE was between the mountain and the multitude. If YOU do nothing but pray, it will soon cease or become a formal routine. Don't ever lose the subject matter of prayer. Don't let prayer become personal only and selfish. Pray for others as well. YOU sustain a loss when YOU neglect the privilege of associating together to encourage and strengthen your fellow brothers/sisters in CHRIST in the service of GOD. That is what is so important about this "Prayer Forum". If YOU shut yourself up ONLY to yourself, YOU are not fulfilling the position that our LORD designed you for.
Praise GOD more everyday and night "for HIS goodness, and for HIS wonderful works to the children of men!" (Psalm 107:8) Our devotional exercises should not consist wholly in ASKING and RECEIVING. Don't always think of YOUR WANTS, and never the benefits YOU receive. Don't be sparing of giving THANKS, even if you don't feel like it. YOU and I are the constant recipients of our FATHER's mercies, and yet how little gratitude we express...how little we praise HIM for what HE has done for us! Our GOD is a tender, merciful FATHER. Through the privilege of prayer, it should be a pleasure to worship HIM and to take part in HIS work. HE is not a hard, exacting taskmaster....no, instead, HE is our best FRIEND. HE expects to bless and comfort us. HE desires that when YOU and I come to worship HIM in prayer, that we will carry away with us precious thoughts of HIS care and love, and that we may be cheered in ALL the employments of daily life, and may have HIS grace to deal honestly and faithfully in ALL things.
When YOU come to this forum with YOUR prayers, please....remember these things! Maintain HONESTY, FAITHFULNESS and INTEGRITY above all else. YOU are spiritually on holy ground in the presence of the CREATOR of the Universe!

Quite often when we Christians believe that we have a basic knowledge of the fundamental Christian doctrines (it's in our nature), we become overconfident, self-satisfied, and then suffer from "doctrinal egotism". As a result, we don't recognize the need for the practicalities of the Christian life, such as prayer AND Bible study on a regular basis for spiritual well-being, and NOT just for THEOLOGICAL or doctrinal study.
Regardless of how much a Believer knows about the Bible or its doctrinal truths, he/she MUST PRAY if he/she is to grow and be of service to GOD. Probably the best analogy of the importance of prayer is that of breathing. Prayer should be as natural to the child of GOD as breathing is to the human body, for prayer is the Believer's spiritual breath. The reason why so many Believers are always spiritually tired and weary is that they have been holding their spiritual breath.
If YOU are a Christian who says, "I simply can't find time for prayer", you're like the person who says, "I just cannot find time to breathe!" Consequently, the child of GOD who does not pray regularly will spiritually suffocate. What causes this to happen with so many Christians? UNCONFESSED SIN! When we are not willing to confess and forsake sin, we DO NOT want to pray because prayer brings us into the very presence of our FATHER in a conversational way, and we do not feel comfortable there.
Moreover, if we do try to pray with sin in our lives, we will quickly become discouraged because we can sense the truth of Psalm 66:18!!
However, using a broad word like "sin" leaves many Believers in the dark so far as confession is concerned, because they cannot think of any sin they should confess and forsake. So, we should take time to identify some specific sins our FATHER's Word says WILL BE a hinderance to prayer.......SELFISHNESS (James 4:3); An UNFORGIVING SPIRIT (Mark 11:25); AN IMPROPER HUSBAND-WIFE RELATIONSHIP (1 Peter 3:7). Any of them sound familiar to you about YOU??!!! Hmmmmmmmm.....
There were things I wrote in my thread, "The PRIVILEGE Of PRAYER" concerning "effective prayer", but here I want to expound on it a little bit more.
First, BE AWARE of WHOM you are talking to when you pray! We DO NOT pray to the HOLY SPIRIT, any Apostle, or even to JESUS. Our prayers should be directed to our FATHER in Heaven (Matthew 6:9....Philippians 4:6). ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS: the phrase in Matthew 6:9 calling GOD, "FATHER", is quite a revelation in relation to prayer. GOD is OMNIPRESENT, OMNISCIENT, OMNIPOTENT, HOLY and RIGHTEOUS, to name just a few of HIS attributes. When we begin to conceptualize WHO HE really is we could become apprehensive about talking to HIM in prayer.
Our GOD is INFINITE, INCOMPREHENSIBLE, and truthfully speaking, just plain AWESOME. However, HE is ALSO a GOD of LOVE, GRACE, and MERCY, which makes it possible for us to have a special relationship with HIM. That special relationship is always assumed in the Bible when we are encouraged to pray.
Second...as I said previously in the other thread, BE YOURSELF when YOU pray. Praying should be as natural for a disciple of JESUS CHRIST as talking to one's earthly father! Many of my brothers/sisters in the Body of CHRIST have the mistaken idea that our FATHER does not listen UNLESS YOU USE a lot of the language of the King James Version of the Bible. This causes problems because most of us are not comfortable using "wilts", "werts", "thee's", and "thou's". Some people do use these words as an expression of reverance, but nonetheless, prayer should be natural. So, if "thou" naturally "talkest" with "thee's" and "thou's", then pray that way. BUT....if that IS NOT the way YOU usually talk, DON'T pray that way. Be REVERENT, but BE NATURAL!!! KEEP IT REAL...

Third, ALWAYS pray in CHRIST NAME. Some people think that to ask in JESUS NAME is to add some "magical formula" at the end of their prayers which will guarantee an answer. Others think that praying without "in CHRIST's NAME" at the end of their prayers is like sending a letter to GOD without a postage stamp! Listen....when JESUS said that we should pray in HIS NAME in John 14:13, HE did not mean to simply put those words at the end of the prayer. To pray in HIS NAME is to pray a prayer that we believe JESUS would pray if HE were wording the petition. It is voicing a prayer that is CONSISTENT with the life and teachings of our LORD/SAVIOUR.
YOU have to have faith that GOD will answer YOUR prayer(s). As Christians we must believe in the present to receive in the future. To the world, SEEING is BELIEVING; to YOU and I, BELIEVING is SEEING. BIG difference!! (Matthew 21:22....James 1:6) Be persistent in your praying. YOU should not become discouraged if the answer IS NOT immediate. KEEP ON PRAYING!
It is a widespread mistake for Believers today to enter their prayer closets with little or no forethought about their prayers. Many of us pray as though our FATHER is some kind of "divine discerner", WHO has the ability to decipher sloppy and confused petitions. Therefore, they give little (if any) consideration to what they will say BEFORE they pray. It is true that the Bible says in Romans 8:26 that the HOLY SPIRIT makes intercession for us, but that Bible promise refers to those times when we have problems (the Bible calls them "infirmities") and do not know what solution to ask for, or even where to begin asking GOD to help us.
Many Believers have abused that promise by being very careless in their prayer habits and by using blanket words like "bless" and "remember", which have no specific meaning. To have our prayers answered demands consideration and forethought. When the hinderances to prayer are taken care of and the proper ingredients are employed, our FATHER indeed ANSWERS our prayers. However, HE may answer in four different ways.... "YES" (Matthew 8:5-13)......."NO" (2 Corinthians 12:7-9)......."WAIT".......(Psalm 27:14; 40:1)......."HE answers with MORE than we can ask" (Jeremiah 33:3; Ephesians 3:20). Our FATHER always answers prayer, but we need to be careful NOT to tell HIM how to reply!
Some people put HIM on the spot by what they call "putting out the fleece" (Judges 6:36-40). However, we should NOT force the issue, the method, or the timing of HIS answer. That's what Satan tried to do with JESUS in the wilderness. DON'T ever try to force GOD into a corner by asking HIM to do a specific thing by a SPECIFIC TIME, such as, "if my headache goes away by 6PM tonight", or "if so and so reacts a certain way". We must ALWAYS give GOD the freedom to answer in HIS own way at HIS own time.
Now....what do we pray for????
After praying for family, friends, needs, etc, in five minutes or less we run out of subject matter, and at the same time our prayer time has not been a real spiritual experience (YOU kind of know what I'm talking about, right?!). The real problem is not a lack of things to pray about, but instead, a lack of understanding the "elements" of prayer. CONFESSION should always be the first order in prayer. Many of us Christians rush into our FATHER's Holy presence ASKING, when in fact we should be confessing (Remember what I said about Psalm 66:18).
Receiving our FATHER's forgiveness and HIS salvation occurs when we accept CHRIST as our SAVIOUR and LORD. It is at that point that our eternal relationship with HIM is established. That relationship will NEVER change, BUT our FELLOWSHIP with HIM can be broken. Prayer is the ONLY WAY our fellowship with GOD can be maintained or restored IF it has been broken. Regardless of the severity or longevity of our sins, the unconditional promise of 1 John 1:9 is, "If we CONFESS our sins, HE is faithful and just to FORGIVE us our sins, and cleanse us from ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS". Confessing simply means that we admit to GOD that what we have done is wrong and that we are TRULY SORRY for it. It is designed to maintain our fellowship with GOD. Confession that is based upon TRUE REPENTANCE will result in a changed disposition, attitude, and actions. Some of the greatest spiritual victories in a Christian's life come as the result of HONEST CONFESSION. That is the reason Satan will work OVERTIME to keep YOU and I from confessing our sins.
One of the most important parts of our prayer should be our ADORATION for our FATHER, but unfortunately it is one of the most neglected. We should express our deep feelings toward HIM in response to knowing HIS attributes. We should also express our GRATITUDE to HIM for what HE has done. Most of us spend too much time asking and too little time THANKING our FATHER for what HE's already done in our lives. If YOUR heart is right in your prayer time, YOU will be overwhelmed with a sense of gratitude. A good place to begin is thanking HIM for the things in life YOU take for granted - family, job(s), home/shelter, transportation, special people in YOUR life, material blessings, monetary blessings, good health, ANSWERED prayer, adversities from which YOU have spiritually grown, for giving YOU eternal life, etc. (Psalm 103:1-5)
Many of us do not truly understand what INTERCESSORY Prayer is. Basically, we know it is praying for the needs of others. However, it is NOT begging GOD, but rather praying with boldness and assurance for those needs. YOU should never ask our FATHER or anyone else to do for someone what we can do ourselves. Someone is hungry for food and comes to you asking for some. DON'T tell them you'll pray for them! That's NOT going to fill their empty stomach when you can provide at that time what they need!!! DON'T be hypocritical like that!! That is, not while you have a full refrigerator and cupboard!!
Sometimes it nice to write a note to people for whom you have prayed. Intercessory prayer is always a concern with the needs of others. It is unselfish and seeks to meet the needs of others even at the expense of PERSONAL SACRIFICE!

We can pray intelligently for the LOST. They are spirtually blind (2 Corinthians 4:3-4....2 Timothy 2:26). They are spiritually bound as slaves to sin. A lost person is not what he/she wants to be. They are what they must be because of that spiritual bondage and AREN'T EVEN AWARE OF IT! This is the deepest passion of my prayer life personally concerning intercessory prayer. I pray for their souls, and that their spiritual eyes will be opened, and that they will be freed from the snare of the Enemy. And that our FATHER will use me in some way to touch their lives in a positive way, showing forth HIS LIGHT through me to them. It's ALWAYS about HIM!
When you PETITION our FATHER you are asking HIM to meet certain needs in your own life. Though some of us NEVER progress beyond the "gimme" stage, there is nothing wrong with asking GOD to meet the needs in your life. Just remember, it has to be in GOD's Will for YOU (1 John 5:14-15). Be careful NOT to confuse YOUR needs with YOUR wants. Always praise HIM for answering YOUR petitions, because HE will always give YOU the answer that is BEST in HIS eternal plan for YOU! Finally, always listen to our FATHER. MEDITATE upon HIS Word. Honestly.....I've found that until we have exhausted ourselves of what we want to say, MEDITATION will be rushed, and we will NOT LISTEN CAREFULLY to our FATHER.
My suggestion?
At the end of YOUR prayer time you might simply say, "FATHER, speak to me". Do not try to confine HIM to any specific area or subject. Just be open to anything the LORD may have to say...and then,........ LISTEN!!

I have been looking for a job since June. My wife is pregnant again after going through a miscarriage last year, which is good. It was a surprise, so Praise God!
However, I still have no job and no way to support my family. Even with my degree, it is SO HARD! I keep being told that I'm overqualified for jobs, and I don't care! I just need a job!
My siblings, please, please, PLEASE pray that God will move soon and bring me a job that will support this little family. I've sold all the stuff that I can, and freelance IT jobs are really scarce. We really are desperate for God to move.
However, even through all this, I still say blessed be the name of the Lord. The lord gives and He takes away. His will be done in ALL THINGS!!!

Tomorrow, Tuesday the 16th my dad's doctor is discussing what to do next. His cancer is
spreading badly, so the chances of this being
terminal and dad dying have increased a lot!
Since the last chemos were actually more
harmful to him, than helpful... I am leaning more in the direction of doing
nothing. But I am asking the Lord to give His wisdom to the dr and
that my dad will ultimately end up making the right choice. If God wants to (and I sure hope that He does!), He can
supernaturally heal him. For our combined prayers of faith can help the sick
and the Lord can raise him up, as the scripture says. He has no church people to annoint him and lay hands on him, so our prayers at Worthy are the best that can be done...
Please pray God gives him more time on this earth.
And brings him to understand the Gospel, helping him to become Born Again. and that God strengthens me and my mom to handle all this emotionally. We are very concerned. Thanks everyone.

God has put it on my heart to serve somewhere, details omitted. Please pray for my safety and protection, that I can clearly hear His guiding voice, that the hearts of the people I will speak to are softened and ripened for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Also, to pray for clarity about His will, because there are a few ways I can serve and this place and I want it to be in His will.
Thank you

Hi All
I didn't have the time to post a prayer request yesterday, so thank you my dear sister ~andy~ who posted on my behalf. I love you sis
Please keep our family in prayer. I cannot give too much details as it is a very sensitive case and we are not sure ourselves what's what.
Hubby was suspended from work yesterday, no warning, no explanation just told he's suspended and will get the letter in the post. They accuse him of stealing $50 000 worth of stock and some other things as well.... all which is absolutely UNTRUE!! He is being falsely accused of things he did not do and they are building up evidence against him to pin everything on him (he's the new guy who started at the business at the end of last year).
The past two weeks have been difficult for hubby - the boss cussed him and badmouthed him, verbally abusing him in front of everyone and hubby couldn't do a thing, since he didn't want to lose his job. Hubby started investigating something that didn't add up at work and asked questions and that's where everything started going wrong. We suspect that hubby may have stepped on someone's toes and asked too many questions and now they're trying to cover their tracks and pin everything on him. The police is involved in this whole mess and they are investigating theft.... this all is pinned on my hubby.
I am unemployed and hubby doesn't get paid for this suspended period and we have about $100 on our names, so things aren't looking too good this side. Thankfullly there was enough money for our house and debit orders to go through last night so we are covered with accommodation for the next week. (we live in a rental house).
I sent our CV's to plenty companies and recruitment agents yesterday in hope that something will come through for us within the next day or so.
Please pray that God will intervene against these false accusations they pinned on hubby. There are so many things I can ask you to pray for but the Holy Spirit knows, so I am only asking for prayer.
There is much more to this story, but too little time to explain everything and not enough pages.
My hubby is innocent!!

My husband I are hosting a couple overnight, a girl that I work with and her boyfriend. They are in the same place we used to be in life. We plan to go out on our boat, eat some dinner, watch a movie and they are going to stay in our guest room because they are going to drive my hubby to the airport the next day since I can't drive yet. My hubby has to go back home to straighten something out with the DA so he can get working. Please pray for him regarding that as well. It works out well because this Saturday, the girl I work with has to give her mom's car back. Her car is out of commission so she will not have a car next week. She only lives 5 miles from where we work so my hubby offered them to drive our car to take him to the airport and while he is gone, she will keep our car and get me from work. When he gets, back, we will take her to work. It really was an answered prayer because we didn't know how I was going to get to and from work. And who knows, maybe good friends will stem from this. Please pray we will follow God's leading in this.
Well, was that judgemental way up top? ^^^^^^ I hope not.
Anyways, pray that my husband and I will speak Truth to them in love and set a good example for them. Please pray for them and their children.
Thanks.
