I saw the cable news networks asking 'What is your Thanksgiving Nightmare' so I decided to ask members of Worthy the same thing......

Mine was the Thanksgiving spent at a relative's house a few years ago where everyone was so drunk by dinnertime they were passed out all over the place and one especially tipsy young woman, after cussing out the six and eight year old nephews, tore the turkey apart with her hands and ate part of it before she too passed out. In the host's bed! My sister and I left without dinner....it was never served. And we'll never go back! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Well according to the papers, at one home in Phoenix a few years ago, a large family gathering erupted into gunfire! With several killed and injured.....

Yeah, it was pretty bad but I'll bet someone can do better....or worse! And not just American Thanksgiving stories....all of the rest of you as well. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

I heard this one on a morning radio call in show and they were asking for the same thing. I may have shared this somewhere else on the boards.

Two brothers: We will call them John and Steve to make the story easier to follow.

John calls in to the radio show and relates the following story as I understand it to be;

Steve is coming over to John's house for Thanksgiving and pulls up in the driveway in a brand new Ford F150 Supercab 4x4 with All the bells and whistles, including On Star GPS system, which he had just pulled off the lot that day.

Anyway, Steve planned to stay the night at John's and asked if he could store the truck in John's garage and John said that would be fine.

Now keep in mind that this is out in the country away from everything and the garage is not actually connected to the house but rather several yards from it.

The next day is of course, Thanksgiving and the two brothers have decided to deep fry a turkey that year. John had brand new never before used outdoor deep fryer and a stand up propane tank hooked up to it. Neither man had ever used a deep fryer. They set the tank several yards from the garage and in fact, they have a direct line of sight into the garage where Steve's truck is still stored.

Now ordinarily you put the turkey or other meat in first and then fill the oil to the "fill" line. This is to account for the liquid displacement principle. You then pull the turkey out and then heat up the fryer with the oil in it and place the turkey back into the fryer once the oil is hot enough.

Neither man read the directions and just filled the oil to the "fill" line and heated up the fryer. Once the oil was at the proper temp, John places the turkey into the fryer and the oil spills over and hits the now brown, dry grass and causes momentary flare up of fire, which startled John and his arm hits the stand up propane tank mentioned earlier.

The tank fall back and knocks off the valve at the top. The propane which was under pressure is now blowing out of the top of this propane tank and this turns the tank into a torpedo which slams into Steve's brand new truck and catches the entire truck and the garage on fire.

When the guy told that story, he said he and his brother were still not speaking...

Well my story is..... I was a young married woman with a new house and wanted to have Thanksgiving dinner at my house for the family for the very first time... I spend days shining, cleaning and baking and cooking to perfection....when everyone was there and dinner was on the table, I gave the honor of carving the turkey to my brother in law...as he starting carving the turkey, he said he was having a hard time....and finally..he stopped and said whats this... and proceeded to pull out the bag of giblets....still in the bag, cooked in the turkey... I was motified... noone ever told me the giblets were in the turkey and you had to take them out....everyone started laughing and laughing , and finally me too....and they said the turkey and everything was good despite me baking the giblets in it , still in the bag...lol.... we all still have a good laugh to this day about it...........
