There is no such thing as a bad testimony

Posted by ~candice~ , in General 13 May 2011 · 73,376 views

We've been sharing our testimony in chat and it has been a great time. But I couldn't help but comment on the thoughts that some people shared, that they do not have a good or interesting testimony. This ain't true! There is no such thing as a bad testimony!

Perhaps you think it's boring - you grew up in church, got saved at 4, never smoke or drank or killed anybody, lived a fairly normal mundane life since. I'm here to say you have a fantastic testimony.

You see, our testimony is not about us, it's about JESUS.

It's a testimony about how, because of who Jesus is and what He did, a sinner bound for hell has inherited eternal life, is a child of God, heaven bound, and indwelled by the Holy Spirit. That is not boring!

It's a testimony about the most amazing transformation a person could ever undergo, from life to death, from darkness to light, from a slave to sin to a bondservant of Christ. Are we to say His work is bad or boring? Never!

Everyone who is born again has an amazing testimony. Share it with the world.

God bless

Your life is your testimony.
Some people prefer to let the the Lord shine without bringing attention to themselves.

Dear Guest,

Thanks for sharing.

I agree that our life is our testimony. We should use our life to bring attention to CHRIST, not us. But that doesn't negate the value of our oral testimony, which is also about Christ .

I can't help but think you got the wrong message from the blog... it's never about drawing attention to ourselves. It has always been about drawing attention to Jesus.

Have a look at Acts 26 and Col 1. Here, Paul the Apostle presents his testimony, and he speaks about his life and attitudes and beliefs before he was saved, then how he was saved, then the changes in his life and attitudes and beliefs after he was saved.

Was Paul mistaken about the value of his oral testimony?

It is good you present the value of a persons testimony is not to bring attention to themselves.
Sometimes people forget that. The flesh loves attention.
Paul was not mistaken as far as I can see. What were the circumstances in which Paul presented his testimony?
What are the circumstances when you present yours'.

Guest,

We give our testimony in obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Otherwise, the words are of no effect. Those are the circumstances under which Paul spoke and under which I hope we speak.

God bless,
Candice

Ya often the people's that like get it all right from the get go, they have pretty fantastic testimonies even without the fireworks. (I'm wishing I had a few less fireworks YIKES) Everyone battles something or another, so we's all on level playing field I think, all with plenty good testimonies.

i totally agree with Candice, to testify not only strengthens the person sharing through confession but also the people who listen and can in one way or another relate to the experience. That way, a network of spirit filled and interconnected believers is bound through sharing.

Thanks for this, candice.

I've felt like that before when I heard AMAZING testimonies and mine seemed... well.. not as dramatic, it seems. But then, I noticed Jesus is faithful and I went... HEY!
