Looking back at my posts, I'm being unfair, because I'm getting frustrated. Let me slow down and ask some questions. Do you believe that dinosaurs exist? If so, when? What happened to them? Were any of them on the ark? How were we (that are alive today) built? Here are my answers to the questions: Yes, dinosaurs existed. They died out about 65 million years ago. There was a great extinction that may have happened over a month, a year, or a millennium. No, there were none on the ark, because the ark is a bible story intended to represent the essence of truth. We were built by our DNA. Let's see if this takes us somewhere instructive (for both of us ... remember, I'm trying to learn here, not to engage in fruitless arguments). And for goodness' sake, PLEASE let's not poke fun at each other's beliefs - let's try to learn. PLEASE? PRETTY PLEASE??? To whom is this post addressed?? You and anyone else that would like to weigh in. (I'm trying to guage my audience, because every time I tailor it to one person, someone else pipes up!) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

I wonder about this myself; if you KNOW you're right, why not just enjoy your rightness? Why is there this burning NEED to convince Christians that we are just another animal? That we are not God's creation. I KNOW the answer but....I'd like to hear yours. None of the others ever answered; they never do. I could ask you the same question! For me, it's just that I want to understand you (and the diversity of opinion on this subject). I have Christian friends, and CHristian in-laws, and, being from the UK, there aren't so many bible-believing Christians. I want to be able to understand and get along with my folks, that's all. Plus, it helps me keep me open minded by looking at others' points of view. My pleasure to answer the question - thank you for bothering to ask! |

What is a CINO? Christian In Name Only. I went looking for the book online and it's listed as being written by Kenneth R. Miller. Is there more than one?? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/noidea.gif) |

Yes, you COULD ask me or anyone else who disagrees with you here, the same question. But YOU came looking for us. It's not an unreasonable question; I mean if evolutionists believe the TOE and common descent, why not just be secure in the knowledge? Much as I, and many others, are secure in the knowledge contained within the Bible. I'm not being sarcastic either. I just don't get it. |

So Nick – let me guess – like Lurker and CS before you - you cannot support the Darwinian myth so you are going to link us to all the atheistic-leaning Darwinian sites your can Google. I thought as much – big talk no action. Next... Well, I don't see any link from you. And I'm guessing from your comment that you didn't bother checking it out! How long have got tonight? I don't really operate via links, Nick. I would prefer to present my case on the thread in question and I am hoping you will do the same. Can you present your evidence on this thread that ‘proves’ theropods evolved into birds? Can you include the mechanisms involved and explain the information transfer required to work this miracle of naturalism. Are you an a-theist or just a skeptic (or something else)? You're a tough crowd. I'm being pulled in several directions at once. ~sigh~ Okay, theropods into birds. How did it happen? The answer is: very slowly. Actually, as you know they are more like distant cousins that direct descendants, so an ancestor of the running reptiles and a more distant ancestor of the birds was the 'concestor'. I'm not an evolutionary biologist (and even if I were, my speciality may not be birds or theropods), so I can't point you at the museums to go to (no that you're at all interested anyway). But the mechanism was natural selection. Each generation accruing a small change brought about by mutating genes and 'superior' genes increasing in the gene pool ... The thing is, you already know all of this, so why are you asking, when you already know what I'm going to say? Are yu just trying to waste my time? |

Am I going to get labelled like the others "None of the others ever answered. They never do."? |

(I'm trying to guage my audience, because every time I tailor it to one person, someone else pipes up!) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Well, get used to that because it ALWAYS happens! I'll take a stab at answering your questions......... Do you believe that dinosaurs exist? I believe they existed, yes. If so, when? Over 65 million years ago. What happened to them? They became extinct, most of them. Were any of them on the ark? No, they were already extinct. Except for the reptiles that are alive today. How were we (that are alive today) built? We are conceived and develop according to the pattern from which God made the first humans. |

well I am a Christian and I really feel a calling to witness to atheists who drop in and show them some love. Oh and I am a single dad so I don't have much social life outside of work and church - it's not like I can go out and I really don't like tv for the most part except sports (go cowboys) - and I long for some kind of quasi-human interaction with my species. Wow that sounds depressing... |

Wow that sounds depressing... I completely understand, CS. I'm married with a 9-month-old, but not working much at the moment. And it gives me a chance to understand my in-laws, who I love very much but, like my own family, they live too far away. I think it's good for people to share ideas, too. Can't put my finger on why. Something about a global community. Boy, I got beaten up today by some of you guys. But I've developed quite a fondness for some of you, too. Thanks for engaging, helping and pushing back. |
