I can't keep this to myself. It's just so amazing what goes in a child's mind. About 3-4 weeks one of my sunday school children hit one of our youth guys. It was very hilarious.
Well before I jump the gun, let me start from the beginning. It was my hubby's turn to preach. He loves to use visual aids when he is preaching. But this sunday he decided he is going to use some of the youth & me instead. The church was packed full, as even the sunday school children had to be in the service. He took his message from Mark 10: 46-52. He talked about the cloak Blind Bartemeus wore. He talked that we as christians put satan out of our homes, but we sometimes forget to but him out with his baggage. We tend to put satan out, but leave his luggage (baggage) behind. So he asked some of the youth & myself to do a skit. As I had recently broken my toe, I fit in the scene very nicely. 2 youth guys had to put on masks that represent satan. And they were carrying big bags. Scott (one of the youth guys) whom is going to represent satan was on my case & Jared (another youth guy) was his demon (whom is in the bags). I had to play a woman who decide she's going to follow Christ & don't want anything to do with satan anymore. However I forget to kick satan with his bags out. So as Scott left, his bags (Jared) were left behind. Jared had to creep up on me everytime, and I will stumble & fall. I had my crutches & he would try again, this time I had to fall & really struggle to get up. As we played this scene one of my sunday school children came running to the stage took my crutch & started to hit Jarred with it, screaming to leave his aunty alone. As he was trying to get Jared away from me tears were streaming down his face, and he started to rebuke satan. He called on Jesus name and declare his works worthless. All were stunned. I called him to me & gave him a hug and consoled him, while sitting on the floor. I've never expected this little boy of 9 years old to feel so strongly about me as his teacher. As I craddled him he told me he will always keep praying for me, so satan won't hurt me anymore, he really thought it was satan that caused my toe to break on the 2 January. The whole service was changed, there was no dry eye, as this boy decided he won't be a spectator anymore. He helped me from the floor and took me to my seat. The whole service he sttod beside me, while his mom was at the back, with tears streaming down her face. My hubby dasen wrapped up the service with telling everyone that as we kick satan with his bags we also need to start caring for our brothers & sisters and when we see they are struggling we need to step up and helped them with the battle. I never knew that my sunday school kids felt so strongly about me as I to them. I realized that when we took time to listen to them & talked to them it really makes a difference. I called him my heroe & that i love him and tears streamed down his face. His words shocked me, he said that he knew i love him & all the other kids, but that he ain't no heroe as he couldn't defend his mom when she got hit when his dad used to lived with them. He said he never thought that GOD could love him & anyone else as he was a coward for not defending his mom. He said that the day I told him that GOD loves him he struggled with it, and started to pray, and something opened in his little heart, that made him bold & made him feel happy & loved, and when I told all of them using their names and told them I love them, and care a lot about them. And that they can tell me anything, that I will try my best to be there for them, but they need to realise that I am human & may fail them sometimes. He said no-one else was that honest with him & told him that he could be loved. My heart tore when I heard all that, and the only thing I could do is hugged him with so much love. ANd praise GOD for changing this boy's life. |

There is more power in the little word 'love' than many of us can imagine - particularly to a child that has experienced so little of it. God bless him and you as you show him the love that he has not known.

Great story, a blessing, a challenge and a wake-up call instigated through a nine year old.
