Be on guard... don't accept medical advice online or rely on it for diagnosis or treatment, and be very careful about the advice you give out. You can be held accountable for what is said online.

This guy was a fraudster, but the way things are going, you can get in trouble even if there isn't any money involved.

A Sydney man faces numerous fraud charges for allegedly providing dodgy medical advice and treatments for a variety of illnesses on the internet.

The charges follow a raid on a Cecil Hills home on July 23 last year, where officers seized computers and documents.

NSW Police said it launched the investigation following a tip-off from a law enforcement agency in the United States.

A man, 27, from Cecil Hills, was served with a court attendance notice via his solicitor on Monday, police said.

"The court attendance notice is in relation to 16 counts of publishing a false statement with intent to obtain money, knowing that the statement was false," police said in a statement on Tuesday.

He will appear at Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court on June 11.

There is a difference between offering " adivce " and telling people that you KNOW the cure and selling them bogus " meds "
