I wrote something deeply personal about entitlement. But I mentioned so many things, that I feel the post is only understandable to me.

I ask for it to be removed when a moderator has a chance. I may re-write in the near future. Sorry!

That is an interesting post, but I am not sure exactly what you are getting at?  Are you saying that it is partially because of the entitlement mentality the church is losing members?  The things being preached about our guaranteed blessings and success aren't working for us, so we abandon the church?  It is a go to church to get mentality, and looking at God like a type of genie who grants our every wish?

One thing I have noticed is that some of the biggest churches are ones that spend all their time on prosperity and blessings.  These ministers have a fairly large congregation in comparison to other churches, but overall, the church is in the decline.  They are large churches, but not when you consider the number of people that live in the places where the churches are located, but go nowhere.

You mentioned the Satanic Bible.  That is one book I have never owned or read.  I didn't know he taught people to do things backwards, but it would seem to make sense if he is saying to do everything the opposite of what God intended.  It is an outward sign of a rebellious lifestyle, which the Bible says is a form of witchcraft.  There was a long time where you had church programs on the evils of rock music, and they would show backward masking in the songs.  One in particular I remember was "Stairway To Heaven," by Led Zepplin, where you would hear something like "Here's to my sweet Satan" when it was played backwards.  There were other examples as well, and I would occasionally play songs backwards to see if I could find messages.  I remember playing a country record by David Allen Coe backwards and hearing "All I want is my money" and something sexual I can't post at a Christian message board.  Artists would deny doing this on purpose.  One day, I was watching TBN, and they had a Christian song they were playing backwards, and it had words of praise to God in it.  Their theory was there was a type of anointing in the music, and hidden things of the heart would show up as backward messages.  Of course that is just a theory, but I once heard a man on "Coast To Coast AM" who spends his time playing speeches backwards and finds words in them that he claims shows the real intent of the heart of the speaker.  Just something I found interesting.

I agree with you that we are not entitled to anything.  God is sovereign.  He is not a genie we can command to give us things.  We certainly can believe his promises, but that is not the same as the name it and claim it doctrine that went around back in the 70s and 80s.

Oak to Butero:

This post is not about church specifically but came about due to my discussing with priests my church post which you took over in a way. This is a New Topic! Which centers on Entitlements and how they effect us on a personal level and on a more general level. An example on a personal level is let's say drunk driver. Ahhh, I didn't drink too much I'm entitled to my license and judgment.... On a general level it's very evil. I re-quote this:

"Entitlement ethics are when an ethical decision is based on completely selfish reasons. No one and nothing else is considered, and the impact the decision has on the person making the decision is the only impact considered."

"From An Overview of Ethic Theories and Systems" by Sarah Ganly.

Guess, who shares the same philosophy? Yes, both Humanistic Spirituality and Crowley's satanic bible. Both cling to "Entitlement Ethics," and they are basically the same. Also, I add what I think the Scriptural view on entitlement is with  which you agree. You always have trouble with my posts - maybe it's a good luck thing. As far as the satanic bible, I never read it nor do I intend too; I have enough problems. I once read a book about Lennon which had him quote, "Do what you wilst [or will] that is the whole of the law,"  and later found it was the first line from the satanic bible.. This post is just about the word entitlements. Do you sort of follow?

I made sure it has unity but it's not a 1-2-3 read either. Just continue thinking of me as "out of the box" writer.

PS In terms of looping, right now, the music industry is looping actual satanic sounds on to a "hit record."

Thanks Oak.  I just saw about three different things in that OP and wasn't sure of the connection.  That is what I was having trouble with, tying it all together.  I can't disagree with what you said.  I am no fan of John Lennon, and I hate the song "Imagine."  Pure socialism.  I didn't know anyone was looping Satanic sounds to a hit record?  Thanks again for clearing things up.  I will try not to derail this thread since I know what your emphasis is on.

Butero, I wrote you a personal PM. However I find that I wrote a very personal post that is understandable just to me. I'm under a lot of pressure and communicating on to many levels right now. I ask that this post be removed, when a moderator has a chance.
