    • Martin Luther proved pope is antichrist, not a christian at all, but opposed to truth.

My father was Catholic and my mother was Baptist. I've attended ( more than once ) just about every denominational church. I would always engage the church leadership, as well as the congregation ( sometimes my questions or comments were not welcomed ). Still, I've known folks throughout my life who love God from all those places.

How about potato chips?  You buy the "family size"  bag and it is about 1/3 full.

I grew up in the Church of Christ that taught me that all you folks are going to he'll if you were not baptized by someone from our group.....  I'm pretty experienced in dealing with things not right. Might add too that I have had friends from there and Catholics that I know were spirit filled. So my thing is just concerning the core of different churches. I spent 25 years looking for a church that taught the entire Bible and didn't find one. Turns out that it's a small group of people in each place that are true to the gospel.  all the other stuff that gets stressed that makes us different really doesn't matter. But during my looks, I also delved deep into the dark side and was introduced to those forces invading most of our churches.  We don't want to go there though.

If you don't go to church every Sunday, the Lord will afflict you with the plagues of Egypt. Just kidding...  Going to church and meeting with other like-minded believers is part of our spiritual growth.   We can draw strength, wisdom, encouragement, love and fellowship  from each other.   In fact, we were designed by God to need each other.   While it has nothing to do with how we are saved, it does have an effect on how we grow as believers.  If we try to cook up our own theology we have no guards against false teaching.  No one is too perfect or too strong or to spiritually advanced to not need that kind of fellowship.

The world is unfolding as it should. When I fist came to this site, I was hopeful to find Christ love and kind people to share, pray and rejoice with together in the word of God. One week into the site and I see bickering, people insulting one another about all kinds of things and almost a year later, I wounder what has this site benefited me with? Absolutely nothing in terms of solidifying my faith in Christ. I am glad I was strong in my faith before I found this site. I don't see this site with the same eyes I saw it when I first came on. I now come to this site like I would go to read the newspaper. My faith is my time spent with God within my day and within my interaction with my fellowman and Gods creatures and creations great and small. My truth is found in the Holy Bible and through my Lord,Savior,Redeemer Christ Jesus. If anyone thinks they are a christian,(from ANY particular denomination) then I would suggest that they live their faith through their Lord and Savior Christ Jesus and read the bible for themselves and the HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD will TEACH and instruct them to HIS WAYS. God alone is our teacher through developing a personal relationship with Him and His word alone. He is the ONE who changes and transforms us into His New Creation in our hearts by speaking personally to each of our hearts, if they are honestly open to God to receive.  Christ Jesus will have made a home in the hearts that seek Him with truth and sincerity of heart. Leading by the example of Christs Love towards your fellowman is the best way to lead .

I would recommend that people do go to a physical bldg. It becomes too easy to say I worship God in the outdoors...in His creation. Yet it becomes a day for golf, shopping, boating , fish, ski, etc and forget to worship God and the one day set aside becomes " my day of rest". A day regimented so to speak for worship in a church is a day set aside for gathering with other imperfect people who love God ...and even if they are not born again they have had your witness of being a born again believer worshipping God.

Jeff, Since we are reasoning together, please understand that I have no issue with you exposing or standing against any fallacies of teachings. I'm all for it! I also take no issue with your targeting the RCC, as I agree it is riddled in error. My concern is in the method you employ. This thread is a great example of that concern being validated ( though one element is missing that is prevalent in many other threads, namely the teachings of the RCC doctrine being plastered across the pages ).  There are many young believers who may read all of this, and so we carry a responsibility to them to herald the truth. When you post links to unvalidated sources, you are ( as others have said ), hindering your own cause and potentially damaging your credibility.  For truth's sake, it may be better to stick to what is known to be truth ( namely God's Word ) as a source for exposing doctrinal error. That's not to say that other sources cannot be employed, but please verify and validate those sources before approving them. Answering error WITH error accomplishes nothing for the sake of the cross. I think Steve_S said this best in his post above.  Love always in Christ Jesus.

According to the example of Jesus there is a clear distinct priority of choice:
      Matt 4:3-4
3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God,
command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said,
It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that
proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
      KJV
according to The Lord we all must pass this way and choose!
      Mark 8:35-36
35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose
his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. 36 For what
shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
      KJV
This lady by her choice of religious authorities will never see this truth remaining where she is...
      Love, Steven

O.O, I'm into 1963 of the Prologue. I'm not a fast reader, as I like to digest as I go. So far, it's very intriguing. Don't worry about me confusing your posts with Jeff's.
