    • The Importance of Church and Fellowship
By Willie T Ayers · Posted
Blessings In Christ Have you ever heard a statement similar to this? “Well, I would love to be able to go to church, but it’s hard for me to do when I see all the hypocrites there.” While you may have not heard those exact words, you’ve probably heard a variation of some kind and perhaps wondered a bit if you were being accused of being a hypocrite. None of us want to be considered in such a way, yet this is the impression often left in the wake of such a statement. Jesus valued the church greatly, and in fact calls it his Bride! We know also that He’s coming one day for a Bride without spot or wrinkle, but we also realize there’s still a lot of spots to be removed, and wrinkles to iron! Hebrews 10:25 gives us a tremendous reminder of the importance of church attendance. “not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another–and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Paul gave a reminder in the following verse that also serves as a reminder about the body of Christ. Eph. 3:18 …may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height. The phrase “with all the saints” is very interesting. Paul is reminding the church at Ephesus that this process of growing in Christ is not something we can do on our own, or even just within the context of our own families. While we must grow in Christ there, we need to be reminded that the love Christ wants us to grow in is one we learn in the context and environment of the church, or the body of Christ! The church is where we get into some “iron sharpens iron” moments!
The church is where we are able to weep with another who weeps!
The church is where we are able to rejoice when another rejoices!
The church is where we can join together to meet needs! And yes, it says with ALL the saints! And that means anyone who professes Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and lives a life reflective of that confession of faith. I would like to encourage you to make church attendance a regular and consistent part of your life. You WILL become a stronger Christian as a result! We can let God sort it all out one day regarding who the “hypocrites” are. Let’s just relax and have church!

the problem is that they do have a majority, but not enough to over ride a veto and this is what is being reported on as I understand it.   Since I haven't read the thing I don't know if it is as bad as is being touted....    but trusting them to do their own inspections seems a bit crazy to me..  It wouldn't bother me so much if our great nation as a whole was relying on God for protection from them, but I'm not sure we deserve that these days....

From no one being saved by the great darkness of the roman catholic heresy, to some being saved by God's Grace  through the Protestant Reformation,  is certainly an improvement of GOD'S DOING.  God is continuing to separate for Himself a people, to be a holy people, devoted to Him and saved  by the blood of the LAMB;  people abiding in JESUS, trusting In JESUS, and not in demons.

I did touch on that in my op. "There is very similar language in verses 12-13 of Rev. 6 to that of other references to Jesus' return at the end of the GT such as Matt. 24:29." If you need more scriptures along these lines there are several.

I like to do my own research straight from the horse's mouth as much as possible.  So, I went browsing on YouTube yesterday to listen to some of the old broadcasts of Billy Graham.  I watched his broadcast "The World's Darkest Hour" from 1958 and took some notes.   He begins by addressing some of the frequent questions that people ask him about how Jesus died on the cross.  Apparently, many people struggle with why Jesus had to die on the cross in order for us to be saved.  He says "that people don't understand all the phrases that talk about the blood.  Many times in the scripture you find the phrase the blood of Christ, the blood of Christ cleanseth us of all sin."  He says people revolt against this and they don't like this, and he says that people wonder why this is in the Bible.  But, he says that the cross what the darkness before the dawn and that history will repeat itself in this way.  That the world will become dark and then there will be a dawn when Christ comes to reign.   So, okay.  Whatever.   Then, he goes on to talk about how Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane.  He talks about the intensity of that prayer Jesus made before going to the cross.  He says, "if Jesus Christ had to pray all night, what about us?" He then goes on to describe the social problems of crime, communism, and race issues that were present in 1958 and says "we Americans are not praying" in response.  He says we are giving lip service in America.  Then, he rebukes the churches in America for not participating in the National Day of Prayer that had been reinstituted by Truman a few years prior.    He says because of this, "we couldn't call ourselves a Christian nation tonight...we today are a heathen and pagan country," and an interesting thing happened when he said these things.  It was like I was carried away with the sensationalism of his speaking and I thought briefly to myself that he was right.  That is the problem.  People are not praying.  Almost like he were running for president and I was ready to vote for Billy Graham.  Go, Graham! But, there are several things wrong with what he has said within a few minutes of him speaking.  The first one is from the illustration that he gives about Jesus praying before going to the cross, Jesus still goes to the cross.  So, whether we are praying or not is not the issue if it is His will to allow people to have free will to accept His offer of salvation or reject it.  We can pray because in praying we will be blameless of sin when we stand before Him one day, but that does not mean that we will be able to stop every negative circumstance, which the cross is evidence of.   So, somehow, he twisted this into a sensational notion that warranted a broad accusation toward the audience.  Somehow, he makes a broad accusation of not praying instead of teaching that sometimes when we pray it is still God's will for such and such to happen and that we have to accept this the same way Jesus did by enduring the cross in obedience.  Instead of edifying the church that we are not responsible for the sins of Judas, somehow he divided us; and I don't know if anyone realized it before he started talking nonsense on Larry King.  But, he was teaching us to judge other Christians for not doing enough or praying enough.  Then, I started thinking about whether this was true then or not.   I was not born until the early 80's, but I remember people as a little girl who would have been alive then, and I don't know that I believe what he is saying about people not praying.  I really doubt that my sweet, elderly Sunday school teacher was not praying for at least an hour every day since she was saved at 25 (I think she told me).   Beyond that, there were still people from this generation a decade ago when I was going to church seeking Jesus for myself, and I would watch the older people in my church.  I went to the prayer services on Sunday night in my church where no one was anyone near my age and would watch as the room of 25 or so people could sing for about 15 minutes before starting prayer service without using a hymnal.  They knew all the songs by heart, and so I question his statement that people weren't praying.  I have many examples like this because I have been watching the older people in church for years, and I wonder if Billy Graham wasn't already planting seeds of division early on.   He then goes on to give a very graphic description of the cross, which just went too far in my opinion.  It was almost like he was re-crucifying him with his words rather than giving a description where you could understand the utter tragedy of the cross.  I just didn't like that at all.   What I would like to do is listen to more of his older services to get a bigger picture of who he is because his comments recently are suspicious.  This video on YouTube has a broader range of clips where he is saying things similar to what he said on Larry King on more than one occasion. In one of them, he seems to take full responsibility for his alliance with the Catholic church.  He speaks as though it was what he had in mind the whole time, to bring together the all denominations, including a return to including the Catholic church, which is very concerning when you consider the recent statement from the pope about how having a personal relationship with Jesus is dangerous (   Then, when you take his comments and similar comments made by Joel Osteen on Larry King.  The Kenneth Hagin service where he welcomed bishop Tony Palmer to talk about unity between all the chruches, including the Catholic church  You've got Joyce Meyer and Beth Moore talking about the same thing in a broadcast   The whole thing starts to look very suspicious. In conclusion, some of my favorite verses are from 1 Corinthians 1:11-13 "For it has been reported to me about you, my brothers, by members of Chloe’s household, that there is rivalry among you.  What I am saying is this: Each of you says, “I’m with Paul,” or “I’m with Apollos,” or “I’m with Cephas,” or “I’m with Christ.”  Is Christ divided? Was it Paul who was crucified for you? Or were you baptized in Paul’s name?"  Paul finishes the first book of Corinthians with words that have stuck with me since the beginning of my personal walk with Jesus.  He says, "Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ" (1 Corinthians 11:1), which took out all denominational allegiance for me and made everything very simple.  That who we imitate is Christ, who Paul is seeking to imitate.  I can't imagine that it has changed so that I should follow Billy Graham who is following Paul who is following Christ.    Therefore, my concern is that when William Hearst said to "puff Graham," ( it was with the intention to gain a following so that people like Graham could lead his followers to believe these messages of unity because someone was trying to take advantage of our capacity to have faith in what we can see rather than the following the Spirit that is unseen.  However, the only thing the people who were listening to his message in 1958 could be found guilty of is being to innocent to believe that someone would ever try to take advantage of them in this way.   Peace.

History repeats itself ?    Maybe.        As well as  Martin Luther, there were the Waldnsians, the Anabaptists, and Wycliff, and  perhaps thousands of reformers preaching the TRUTH, and FREEDOM from the lie of catholicism heresy. More recently there have been a few just in the last couple decades. Go and search and look them up,  from the 1st Century to the present day,  OR if God Permist - IF YOU HAVED FAITH IN GOD,  just read the BIBLE YOURSELF and ask GOD what HE MEANS. That is enough to condemn the entire roman catholic regime along with the relatively tame hitler and his nazis. Yes, tame,  compared to the atrocities of the rcc.   BUT,  while there is time --- GO LOOK IT UP.  It usually takes a couple years to a couple decades to be free from all the lies almost everyone was raised in. We can't fix the lies in a few days or even in a couple months time - especially here where advocates of the enemy can  also freely post their lies.   Find a fellowship that stands for the TRUTH OF THE BIBLE, with JESUS , and against the lies of heresy in the rcc. A fellowship that won't tolerate lies to be preached or taught or spoken in their midst - rightly putting out the evil one from their midst ....... Meanwhile SEARCH THE WEB while it is still possible ,  or find the lessons that accurately reflect THE BIBLE, not man.
