    • In all fairness, the Lord Himself did not refer to His words as a sermon. That's our own contrivance.  So are chapters and the like. Not that those inventions are bad, mind you, unless we stop to consider how the KJV is read in heaven... Of course.
    • Wasn't there one on a Mount somewhere?
    • Obadiah prophesied exclusively against Edom for their wickedness when Judah was destroyed. The Day of the Lord is declared against Esau, and confirmed by Jeremiah, while at the same time, Edom's judgment is clearly a foreshadowing against all the heathen nations that come against Israel and Jerusalem. Obadiah 1:1 The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord God concerning Edom (We have heard a report from the Lord, And a messenger has been sent among the nations, saying, “Arise, and let us rise up against her for battle”): 2 “Behold, I will make you small among the nations; You shall be greatly despised. 3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, You who dwell in the clefts of the rock, Whose habitation is high; You who say in your heart, ‘Who will bring me down to the ground?’ 4 Though you ascend as high as the eagle, And though you set your nest among the stars, From there I will bring you down,” says the Lord. Jeremiah 49:14 I have heard a message from the Lord, And an ambassador has been sent to the nations: “Gather together, come against her, And rise up to battle! 15 “For indeed, I will make you small among nations, Despised among men. 16 Your fierceness has deceived you, The pride of your heart, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, Who hold the height of the hill! Though you make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from there,” says the Lord. 17 “Edom also shall be an astonishment; Everyone who goes by it will be astonished And will hiss at all its plagues. 18 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah And their neighbors,” says the Lord, “No one shall remain there, Nor shall a son of man dwell in it. Obadiah 1: 12 “But you should not have gazed on the day of your brother In the day of his captivity; Nor should you have rejoiced over the children of Judah In the day of their destruction; Nor should you have spoken proudly In the day of distress. 13 You should not have entered the gate of My people In the day of their calamity. Indeed, you should not have gazed on their affliction In the day of their calamity, Nor laid hands on their substance In the day of their calamity. 14 You should not have stood at the crossroads To cut off those among them who escaped; Nor should you have delivered up those among them who remained In the day of distress. 15 For the day of the Lord upon all the nations is near; As you have done, it shall be done to you; Your reprisal shall return upon your own head. 16 For as you drank on My holy mountain, So shall all the nations drink continually; Yes, they shall drink, and swallow, And they shall be as though they had never been. 17 “But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. 18 The house of Jacob shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them, And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau,” For the Lord has spoken. Jacob have I loved, and Esau I have hated Malachi 1:1 The burden of the word of the Lord to Israel by Malachi. 2 “I have loved you,” says the Lord. “Yet you say, ‘In what way have You loved us?’ Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?” Says the Lord. “Yet Jacob I have loved; 3 But Esau I have hated, And laid waste his mountains and his heritage For the jackals of the wilderness.” 4 Even though Edom has said, “We have been impoverished, But we will return and build the desolate places,” Thus says the Lord of hosts: “They may build, but I will throw down; They shall be called the Territory of Wickedness, And the people against whom the Lord will have indignation forever. 5 Your eyes shall see, And you shall say, ‘The Lord is magnified beyond the border of Israel.’
    • No problem at all. I do understand that EVERYONE treats 2:34 and 2:35 as one and the same end time event. I had gone through Daniel at least 100 times (specifically the Hebrew chapters) and there were many verses that I could not interpret- no  matter how I approached them, I could not find an interpretation for more than a few verses in chapters 7 and 8 (for example) that would “fit” with any interpretations in chapter 2.    It was only when I took another look at 2:34 and 2:35 (since I really had skipped over them the many times I read chapter 2), that I noticed the very different wording between 34 and 35, AND the most important symbol within these verses would clearly provide the “timing” for 2:34. Everyone agrees the Stone represents the Messiah yet He is only referred to as such at His first coming.    Once that became clear, it was easy to interpret the reason why Daniel specifically calls attention to the 2 separate elements of clay and iron (them). And of course, the Messiah and His people could easily be found in Jeremiah to be symbolized as the “Potter” and the clay. Further, it is no coincidence that the 10 toes are also “broken free” AFTER the Stone strikes the feet (not the toes). Then, the interpretations in the later books of Daniel came to the surface and made sense with those in chapter 2.   Finally, even before we would have moved on to chapter 7 to CLEARLY see how 2:34 can only speak of the Messiah’s symbolically “breaking apart the iron and the clay elements,” you MUST use this approach in interpreting 2:41-43. So, if you would like, we can leave the 2:34 -35 issue alone and just discuss 2:41.    How do you unpack or interpret 2:41? Thanks again, Charlie
    • I think for a believer, petition for our needs and for others are natural order, as we are encouraged in scripture to do so.   I am sure or hope all would ask for divine providence and for the leading our life in the direction that would favor good outcomes.  Also, we must portion out our time for chores and other daily necessary funcitons.    Don't know how to ansewer further, but I take the point you are making with encouragement to persevere in all things in Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5 16 Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always); 17 Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly]; 18 Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].
