I'm an old chemist who's been working for Petrochemical companies for a long time. They've paid well and have supported my one "hobby" - horses. I've ridden them, raced them, shown them, and trained them. My wife has usually been with me, but she never really took on the role of Cowgirl. Her title was more "Show Spouse." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) But at least she has supported my desires and has participated as frequently as she can (she has a problem with the Texas heat and humidity during the summer shows).
Well, I've gotten too old for the performance competitions. So I have been competing in non-performance classes (like Halter) and recently began breeding. So I bred my best mare to a great Halter World Champion stallion (Seriously Secure see him here). She took right away and is about five months pregnant (seven more months to go!). Though a pregnant horse isn't really any different until the last few months, I've been giving "Cher" a lot of special attention, more so than the other horses - she gets the expensive alfalfa when the others get the costal hay. She has her own paddock now, so that when she isn't grazing, she can still move around and not become stall-bound. That kind of stuff. Recently the grass in our backyard was pretty high becuase I have been too busy to cut it and my wife went out with a pair of scissors and hand cut the lushest greenest grass in the yard, filling up a large grocery bag with grass. When she brought it in, the cats came running and wanted to jump all in it and chew on it! Together we took it to the barn and hand-fed it to Cher out in her paddock. She ate it up!! When we were done, my wife gave this 1800 pound animal a big hug and said "I love you Cherie-poo!" I have not seen this before. Just the fact that she spent so much time hand-cutting the grass amazed me, but then to see my wife enjoying spending personal time with the mare was very surprising. I thought maybe it was a "maternal" thing becuase we have never had a pregnant horse before. So I asked her about it. She said - "I love you more than anything else in this world. How could I possibly *not* love something that means so much to you?" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) WOW - What a statement! And the moment she said that, I heard the Holy Ghost remind me of the same thing. My Father's love for me is so great, how could He possibly *not* love something I care about? What a great experience that was, I just had to share it. And maybe encourage you that you that you are so important to your Father that He cares about what is important to you. ~clay |

WOW - What a statement! And the moment she said that, I heard the Holy Ghost remind me of the same thing. My Father's love for me is so great, how could He possibly *not* love something I care about? That's sweet! But, then I have to ask myself . . . do I love God like that? |
