3. Applies to studying any part of the bible in general -how does this apply to me today?
If I am studying a book of the bible,
then I pull out commentaries, a strong's concordance, dictionary in case I want a fuller definition of a particular word, a greek/hebrew lexicon, and my study bible.
You have to find a method that most definitely suits you.
There are demonic spirits in the world, but when anything comes at you that is contrary to the things of God, you can go against those things by calling on the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus, satan will flee.
In the eyes of the Lord and in the state of whatever state you live in, you need a marriage license. Common law marriage doesn't fly in the eyes of God. If you are not married, then you are living in sin. What the person you wrote about did was justify herself. We are to obey the laws of the Land. A minister must sign a certificate of marriage for a couple to be declared married.
There's nothing wrong with wearing make-up at all. Just don't put on so much that it looks like you put it on with a putty knife. The inner appearance is what matters to God. Wear make-up modestly if you want to wear make-up.
I am a fan of Michael Savage as well. It's nice for a change to not have to try to read between the lines or have to guess what someone's thinking. He says what he believes and makes no apologies for his beliefs. I don't always agree with him, but I enjoy listening to his program.
You don't have to go anywhere to find the power of the Holy Spirit. If you are saved and serving God wholeheartedly, you have power. You have the power to overcome temptations and trials and tribulations through what Christ has done for you. You have the power to live a spirit-filled life. Why are you searching for power when you have the Power from on high that sustains your very life and gives you hope?
And I have to agree with Gymrose and Barnabas. You see the Spirit of God move by someone who greets you with a smile when you enter church, in a handshake, in a hug, etc. When you sit down in Sunday School and you are learning about the Word of God, you are learning about God and the power that He has given to you. The Spirit of the Living God is active and moving all over the world.
Just let the Spirit flow. God will lead you where He will if you are willing to obey. The Holy Spirit guides, but the question is, are we willing to let Him guide us? Sometimes in order to receive power or strength from God, you need to step out in obedience first. As you daily spend time with God and in His Word, He fills you with the power and strength you need. Power is not found anywhere except in God. So if you are walking in obedience as unto the Lord, you will lead a powerfully Spirit-filled life.
