Tracing Jewish roots
Genome study helps map Diaspora, highlights how heritages blended
By Tina Hesman Saey
Web edition : Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Scientists taking a genomewide view of ancestry have traced the genetic roots of seven Jewish groups.

The study examines genetic markers spread across the entire genome — the complete set of genetic instructions for making a human — and shows that the Jewish groups share large swaths of DNA, indicating close relationships. Comparison with genetic data from non-Jewish groups indicates that all the Jewish groups originated in the Middle East. From there, groups of Jews moved to other parts of the world in migrations collectively known as the Diaspora.

Maps of those migrations were inscribed in the DNA in the form of genetic signatures of local people Jews interbred with as they moved. Today, contemporary Jews carry evidence of their Middle Eastern origin along with genetic heritage from European and North African ancestors.

Hi nebula,

The tribe of Judah (Jews) is is only 1/12th of all Israel, so now you can already see the problem with this genome study. Doing quick math; a short 20 generations gives (whoever) over one million direct family members, so we are talking about a very; very large number of Israelites. And I don't think Trina Hesman ment one tribe only, but I could be wrong?

Still an interesting thread. Thanks.

From Adam to Mary is 74 generations, Christ being the 75th; (doing more fast math) this would make about 4 million direct family members. According to Matthew 13.55 Christ has (half) brothers and sisters; meaning the family is still growing.

I thought that would be interesting to add?

Do you have proof positive that this family line has not been exterminated either through attrition or deliberate satanic assault?

Also I wish to warn everyone to beware the genealogy tricks to make one out to be of Jewish descent... the desire of the people should not be to be physically Jewish but to be Spiritually Jewish.

Deuteronomy 10:16 (NIV)
16 Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer.

Romans 2:28-29 (NIV)
28 A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical.
29 No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man’s praise is not from men, but from God.

Father Abraham has two lines of heirs:

1. the physical sons and daughters through Isaac and Jacob et al (the number of the sand by the sea)
2. the spiritual sons and daughters through faith in Jesus (the number of the stars in the heavens)

Genesis 22:15-18 (KJV)
15 And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. Joel 3:16

The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. Acts 3:13

Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. Luke 23:34

The Words Of Jesus

And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes. For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. Romans 11:26-29

Mean Life Itself

For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead? Romans 11:15

You See?

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words
. 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18

Hum....

And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. I went back and re read this article and I missed something the first time around that is important.

The researchers found no evidence for a theory that Ashkenazi Jews are descendents of Khazars,

There are a lot of people who don't believe that the people in Israel today are actually descendants of Abraham (genetic Jews).

Joe, none of those quotes over-turn what jesus said, is god divided against himself? pior to Jesus saying that he pronounced 8 woes upon the jews in matt23, A mere triffle perchance? eight is the number of god.He fulfilled here that part of daniel 9;27 "and for the overspreading of abominations, he shall make it desolate", the anti-christ could not do that, people are confuded about the right prince, jesus' sacrifice stopped(fulfilledthe law) the temple practice, thats what he came to do and is why Abraham rejoiced to see it on mt moriah when he realised why he has a miracle born son isaac and a substitue caught in the thicket. the judgement is on the jews as a people ,we know the wisdom of god was that they be tipped out mong the gentiles to become such since god rejected thyem as his people so he could win them back as individuals through the gospel because the 70m weeks of years were fulfilled opening the way to righteousness snd holiness at last . The jewish extremidst leaders said let his blood be upon our heads and ourchildrens, god decide the childen should make up their owm minds or ar you against that? The reason jewish cultuer is as circled-wagons spiritually is to stop them hearing the shepherds voice. pharoah doesnt want to let them go. Gabril also told daniel the desolation will not end before the 'consumation'and they will reap what they sewed, so get used to it. it's the word of god.

Joe, A. none of those quotes over-turn what Jesus said, is God divided against Himself? B. Prior to Jesus saying that He pronounced 8 woes upon the Jews in Matt. 23, A mere trifle perchance? Eight is the number of God. He fulfilled here that part of Daniel 9:27 "And for the overspreading of abominations, he shall make it desolate", the anti-Christ could not do that, people are confused about the right Prince, Jesus’ sacrifice stopped(fulfilled the law) the temple practice, that’s what He came to do. This is why Abraham rejoiced to see it on Mt. Mariah when he realized why he has a miracle born son Isaac and a substitute caught in the thicket.

The judgment is on the Jews as a people, we know the wisdom of God was that they be tipped out among the Gentiles to become such C. since God rejected them as His people so He could win them back as individuals through the Gospel because the 70m weeks of years were fulfilled opening the way to righteousness send holiness at last. The D. Jewish extremist leaders said let His blood be upon our heads and our children, God decide the children should make up their own minds or are you against that? E. The reason Jewish culture is as circled-wagons spiritually is to stop them hearing the Shepherds voice. Pharaoh didn’t want to let them go.
