Whoops! I'm something like 40 posts into this place before I found this board! Google brought me to the Apologetics sub-forum. Better late than never, I suppose.
Who I am: I am a software developer who has been married for ten years. I have two girls (who will be two and five in a couple of months) who find new ways to surprise and amaze me each day. In my free time, I like messing around with computers and playing D&D.
What I believe: I was raised Lutheran, and identified as such for about thirty years. Eventually, I had doubt issues, which built up over time. I got to a point where I realized I didn't believe any more, but really wanted to. I struggled with that for about two years. Eventually, I got to the point where I could admit to myself that I didn't believe anymore (that was the hardest part, actually). I think I would best identify now as an agnostic atheist.
Why I'm here: So, what's an agnostic atheist doing in a Christian forum? Well, I have an account over at an atheist forum, but in many ways, it feels like an atheist hug-box. There are a few theists who post there, but they are few and far between. I wanted to try to find a forum where there were people that believed differently than me, but would allow me to post (the first place I found on Google would only let believers post, and I didn't feel like posting under false pretenses). Basically, during my struggle several years ago, I finally allowed myself to look at dissenting points of view and looked into counter-apologetics. Now that I have a better idea of what I do (and don't) believe, I felt I should do the same again, so I Googled "Christian apologetics forums".
On a semi-related note: I've noticed that many posters have red "nonbeliever" tags on their profile, an the CoC says that nonbelievers are limited to posting in certain sub-forums. Is there some way I'm supposed to get/request such a tag? I didn't see an obvious way in the profile settings. My guess is I have to ask a moderator to put me in that member group.
