Hi everyone, I am going to begin my research in computers. Anybody with similar interests in networks, algorithms and the like??? Please leave me a message if you are a computer nerd like me. God bless.

Hi Gerda. Nice to see you again :th_handshake:

I just got back in Worthy a month ago...

I myself has some interest in computer programming, but I'm only just beginning in this hobby, and right now this is not even a priority.

But I have some references. Perhaps I can help you.

I'm not interested in networking, but in programming desktop applications. Also, I'm limiting myself to console applications only (those without GUI), at least for now, because I don't want to be dependent on programming packages that make life easier, but produce short-lived applications. Besides, I really want to learn programming in depth, and that means more coding and less use of tools....

My programming language of choice is C++. But as my teaching language, I've chosen Standard Pascal (from the 1980's, but is still being used today). It is much easier to learn than C++, and it is procedural, and I really want to learn this programming paradigm before I move on to object-oriented.

So, what do you think?

I spent 38 years with Xerox working with computers and networks that were used to drive our printers.  It's been three years since I had to work.  I do have several computers and a network at home.
