Reading this thread (weird baby names) got me thinking - what if people started naming babies like the Native Americans did, after a trait or natural event related to the child?

(Sitting Bull, Running Water, Smiles A Lot, Stands With a Fist - yes, I'm drawing from movies, but it's all I can think of at the top of my head)

Then I thought - what would our names be if we were named that way?

Anyone want to guess what their name might be?

Oooh!  I like this kind of thing...

I would like to be called:  Singing Stream.  It makes sense to me!

From our family hand me down history it seems that our Chickasaw ansestors would have the mother walk out of where she was staying and look around.   the first thing she saw would be the name of her child.

If one carries that out today they would wait till they got home to do it and from the house my mother lived in when I was born and went out the front door I'd be known as "Old Oak Stump"  Or "Wild Running Chicken"  LoL

I think i would be named "freezing (something)" as i was born on a cold winterday. Luckily my parents decided to let their hearts and minds rule in favor of a more warmer, personal, and symphatetic name.

Post one of this thread made me think of Issac. Which if memory serves me correct Issac means laughter. Issac got his name like that kinda. His mom laughed.

Wanted to name our 2 kids, a boy & a girl, after 2 mules my grandfather had back in the early 1950's when I was just a kid. Their names were Jack & Wendy. I thought it would be "cool" to name our son "Jack" and our daughter "Wendy." Wife didn't think so.
