Occasionally we come across some truths that haven't come from the Bible. My rule of thumb is not to believe any words of advice that are not from scripture or the Holy Spirit unless they:

A/ Don't conflict with scripture

B/ Complement scripture in some way, or at the very least appear to be derived from the Common Sense that God originally gave us all before we lost some of  it and became corrupted by all the sin in the World (we were all made in God's image after all).

There are numerous examples. I would like you all to share yours here. They may be quotes from famous people or they may have come from people whose advice you respect, such as your parents  - or maybe from other respected and well-known Christians.

And to keep in with the Worthy spirit of edifying Christ, if somebody disagrees with any of these proverbs, they should feel free to give solid criticism if necessary, especially if they feel that these proverbs may be misleading people away from the truth of God. These proverbs aren't necessary infallible. Do you feel that they are worthwhile or do they give false advice?

If you believe that a phrase disagrees with Christ then say so, explaining why.

If you feel that it edifies the word of God or complements it then by all means say so.

I'm going to start the ball rolling with the quote which (at the time of writing) I am using as my own personal profile feed. I believe that history is already proving this to be true. (If you want me to explain why, I can give you an explanation).

"The Fascists of tomorrow will call themselves anti-Fascists"

Winston Churchill

and here is an Amish proverb:

God puts the church in the World. Satan seeks to put the World in the church.

It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible. - George Washington

In a more general sense, I thought there was a lot of interesting things in the Book of Ecclesiasticus.  It is one of my favorite Apocryphal books, but as is the case with everything, you have to measure anything in it by the canon of scripture before accepting it as truth.

I really enjoy discussing the Bible. There is so much to learn and so much to share.

I am led to reach my hand out, in love, to those in need.

Don't bite off more than you can chew, is an old one I like.

"The worst of men is not the man who lets himself be bullied, but the man, who fearing reprisals from the bully, shouts loud against those who wish to protect him.

This is the biggest coward of them all, and what is more he cannot be trusted."

Think of the World today, think of Islam, and think of those who live in denial and protect it............
