Your True Worth
Wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy
Proverbs 2:10
Often, when we struggle with disappointments or despair, we attribute
our failures, painful feelings, and misfortunes to our worth.
We believe that we don't deserve acceptance or anything good because
something within us is inherently lacking, useless, or broken. Sadly, it
may be very difficult to break out of those beliefs because they are so
ingrained in our identity.
But friends, if you wrestle with feelings of worthlessness, you must
accept the reality that your view of yourself is not right. The only One
who truly understands your potential and value is the Father, and He accepts
you, promises to love you unconditionally, and enables you to do
all He calls you to do. The Lord created you exactly as He wanted you
(Psalm 139:13-14). And when the Savior looks at you, He sees someone
worth dying for-a person He wants with Him for eternity. So to
overcome feelings of hopelessness or insignificance, you must accept
His assessment of your value over your own.
Zephaniah 3:17 affirms, "The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious
warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His
love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy." Not only does your
heavenly Father rejoice over you, but He also is committed to winning
the battles for you. Therefore, when disappointments or feelings of despair
arise, refuse to entertain any thought of worthlessness or inadequacy.
Instead, train your eyes on your Savior and Creator. And accept
who He created you to be-a vessel who shines with His glory, regardless
of your circumstances.
Father, set me free of feelings of worthlessness and inadequacy.
Thank you for loving me, redeeming me, defending me,
and equipping me to do everything You call me to.
Amen
