16. God`s Eternal Purposes. Judgment - The Great White Throne.

JUDGMENT - The Great White Throne.

Universal Heaven and Earth are No More.

`But the Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.` (2 Peter 3: 10)

The Day of the Lord starts with the tribulation and continues through the millennium. Finally after Satan`s last battle he is cast into the lake of fire. (Rev. 20: 10) God then does away with the unclean universal heavens and the earth, burning them with a great heat.

`Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.` (Rev. 20: 11)

It is then time for God`s final judgment upon the dead at His Great White Throne.

The Books are Opened.

`And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and the books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.` (Rev. 20: 12)

`The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each according to his works. `  (Rev. 20: 13)

All who are in the graves will come forth as spirits and receive their judgment. Those who were rebellious and those who turned away from Jesus will receive their due punishment, banished into the lake of fire.

Then there are those who died who had never heard of Jesus, but lived rightly according to their conscience. They demonstrated that they believed God would judge them and thus their works, their behaviour showed this. They will have had their names in the Book of Life, and will be given new bodies to go on to the New Earth.

People from the millennium who walked in God`s ways (Jews and Gentiles) will also have their names in the Book of Life and go on to the New Earth.

The Lake of Fire.

`Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.` (Rev. 20: 15)

The Lake of Fire is not part of God`s Great Kingdom but in a place of great darkness. (Matt. 25: 30)

Does this mean that there will be only one heaven instead of many heavens?

Hi mabel,

Now our atmospheric heaven & the universal heaven are both polluted, and thus they will be cleansed. However the higher realm, the angelic realm will still be the same. So really everything we can see outside (stars, planets, etc (& the earth) will be burnt up and made new.

I believe this thought is refuted here

Rev 21:5

5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
KJV
if any of the old were kept then this statement would be false...

Hi enoob,

Glad you are reading my blogs. Now do you realise that people`s blogs are their opinion and it is not a place for bringing out another view. The threads on the forum are for discussing such.

I will comment though on what you said. Now we know that any doctrine is NOT based on one scripture so we have to look at other scriptures on the topic to get the full picture.

In the verse Rev. 21:5 we see that the Lord is on the throne and we know that the Body of Christ is there also, in the third heaven. (Rev. 3: 21)

Then we know that the Old Testament saints have come down in the city, the New Jerusalem to near the earth. They are in the Universal realm. It is the Universal realm and the earth that get burnt up and made new, not the thronal realm of the Lord.

The earth and all its evil and damage, is made new. The universe with all its rubbish up there and demonic influence over the earth, that also is burnt up. These are the two realms that get made new.

regards, Marilyn.
