World Rulers - How They Ruled.

World Rulers – How they Ruled.

Q. How did these World Rulers Govern?

Each of these World Rulers had an opportunity to rule the world with mercy & justice. But sadly they all chose control, domination & greed.

The king of Babylon started with supreme power, while each successive ruler had progressively less power. Finally the last world Ruler,  the `feet,` will have internal division, making it quite volatile.

This weakening of power is shown by the metals in the image. Notice how they deteriorate in value –

Gold – Silver – Brass – Iron – Iron & Clay.

BABYLON – The Head.

King Nebuchadnezzar had supreme power over the known world. His word was law. Yet who could use such power wisely? The king went from one extreme to another. He made decrees –

`Worship the Great Image or burn.` (Dan. 3: 4 – 6) then

`Worship God or be cut to pieces.` (Dan. 3: 28 & 29)

Nebuchadnezzar then became very proud of himself, his power & his position. Daniel had given the king God`s warning about his motives & actions, but the king, because he didn`t repent went through a very humbling experience.

`Nebuchadnezzar...was driven from men & ate grass like oxen;.....until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, & gives it to whomever He chooses.` (Dan. 4: 32 & 33)

MEDES & PERSIANS – The Chest & Arms.

Darius the Mede then received the kingdom that the Babylonians had ruled over. God had numbered the Babylonians government, judged & finished it. Now the Medes had an opportunity to show how they would rule the world. They had laws but these were of their own desires & led to misuse. Deceitful governors tricked the king into signing a decree that eventually got Daniel thrown into the lion`s den.

`Now, O king, establish the decree & sign the writing, so that it cannot be changed, according to the law of the Medes & Persians, which does not alter.` (Dan. 6: 8)

          Thighs(c).jpg

GREECE – The Belly & Thighs.

After many years another power arose, this time from the west. Alexander, the mighty king of Greece attacked & quickly defeated the Medes & Persians. Then when Alexander died, his empire was divided amongst his four generals. The power of the kingdom was lessened & many wars followed as each leader sought for more power.

`And as I was considering, suddenly a male goat from the west, across the surface of the whole earth,....Then he came to the ram ....cast him down to the ground & trampled him....

The ram which you saw having two horns – they are the kings of Medes & Persia. And the male goat is the kingdom of Greece.` (Dan. 8: 5 – 7,   20 & 21)

                     Legs(c).jpg

ROME – The Legs.

`And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus (Roman) that all the world should be registered.` (Luke 2: 1)

The Romans grew in might & power & soon controlled most of the known world. They brought peace & stability to the world but the price was allegiance to Caesar their Emperor. Rome eventually became decadent & very cruel, which lead to its down fall.

                        feet(c).jpg

FINAL RULER – The Feet & Toes.

There has been no other World Ruler since Rome, but there is prophesied one yet to come. This will be more terrifying & cruel than all the others, but will only rule for a short time, before God brings judgment.

(Note: this will be discussed in the next series - `Countdown...` )

" Each of these World Rulers had an opportunity to rule the world with mercy & justice. But sadly they all chose control, domination & greed. "

[casually],  I don't remember ever seeing a world ruler before Y'SHUA'S resurrection

ever had an opportunity to rule the world with mercy and justice.

Even finding one country ruled rightly was rare or very rare, if at all.

Israel , of course, following YHWH'S TORAH,  being the exception, the set apart people, called and chosen by YHWH and set apart by HIM for HIS PURPOSE and HIS PLAN.   And I think many of Israel's leaders/kings/ failed to govern rightly also,

so what chance would any heathen gentile nation have to rule rightly ?

(as it is written, if the righteous are just barely saved, what happens to the unrighteous ? )

Also , besides the references all through SCRIPTURE of how wicked and evil and pernicious the world/ society / the peoples of the world are,

there is the declaration in the NEW TESTAMENT:   like this>   "Remember when you all as gentiles were without God and without hope in the world ...."

Showing specifically and clearly that all the other countries as nations or as world powers were not called and chosen and set apart by YHWH to be HIS people,  to live holy lives,

but only as and when HE desired to show HIS sovereignty  (HE raised up who HE desired to raise up, and HE brought down whoever HE desired to bring down ---- always with perfect justice, righteousness, and without any wrong doing nor any possiblity even of sin on HIS (YHWH'S) part/ doing......

Therefore, the "world rulers" while all appointed by YHWH,   were not under any kind of regulation or guidance in RIGHTEOUSNESS or RIGHT LIVING or RIGHT RULING the way YHWH'S people were,

but were all subject to the power of the prince of the air (the devil),

with all the boundaries and so forth set un-moveably in place by YHWH that they could not cross over,

but without any expectation of (much or any) mercy nor of justice....  except as stated in YHWH'S WORD and PLAN.

Even in the NEW TESTAMENT,

concerning the whole world / society,

there is much about the perniciousness (death dealing) thereof,

and the refusal to turn to YHWH on the part of the whole world.

So often, all through history,  and in the end time,  only the remnant are saved out of the evil generation.

Hi simplejeff,

I hear what you are saying, however we can see in history individuals who did govern with mercy & justice. For example king Nebuchadnezzar learned to walk humbly -

`Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise & extol & honour the King of heaven, all of whose works are truth, & His ways justice. And those who walk in pride He is able to abase.` (Dan. 4: 37)

Some kings of Israel did walk righteously & governed justly.

This ...........................................................................................................................................................................^^^  is what I was replying to, as I put in the post.

And the exceptions are just that, exceptions (as frequently occurs in SCRIPTURE ; most often probably about YHWH'S chosen ones).

Following up a little :   "..... chose control, domination & greed."

Is there any indication they could have achieved the world control/power they did

WITHOUT control, domination, & greed ?

Perhaps for future discussion in this or another thread:

TODAY,  is there ANY chance a world leader could

ever gain any semblance of power ever (i.e. appearance of power if not actual power, OR actual power)

without control, domination, & greed ?

I think it is very obvious the answer is no, both (first ) from what SCRIPTURE says, and (second) from almost all history for a very very long list of examples.

Hi simplejeff,

Yes, king David, the shepherd king, with the heart after God ruled Israel well under the hand of God.

This (the OP, as well as the TITLE of the thread) is not referring to Israel in any fashion:

QUOTE:  " Each of these World Rulers had an opportunity to rule the world with mercy & justice. But sadly they all chose control, domination & greed. " END QUOTE.

Marilyn.

Likewise some others did as well,

but as noted above and below,  KING DAVID and the RIGHTEOUS RULERS of ISRAEL are not in the OP nor in the TITLE. (unless I missed something)

Deuteronomy 7:6-821st Century King James Version (KJ21)

“For thou art a holy people unto the Lord thy God; the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto Himself,

above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

The Lord did not set His love upon you nor choose you because ye were more in number than any people,

for ye were the fewest of all people;

I.E.  KING DAVID was not one of the world rulers who already ruled the world.  (He will, probably, be, but he wasn't yet).

None of the leaders or rulers or kings , even KING SOLOMON, nor KING SAUL, ruled the world (nor did they seek to ).

(note that HIS people are STILL (just about) the fewest of all people , a remnant , who found the narrow road to life)

All the rulers of the nations have committed 'badbad'(polite paraphrase) ,  as told by Y'SHUA to John and written in YHWH'S WORD,  REVELATION.

Why did they all commit the 'badbad' ?

< shrugs >  Who knows?

YHWH KNOWS.

It is written and described plainly in SCRIPTURE.

Hi simplejeff,

Here is your quote -

`Therefore, the "world rulers" while all appointed by YHWH,   were not under any kind of regulation or guidance in RIGHTEOUSNESS or RIGHT LIVING or RIGHT RULING the way YHWH'S people were,`

The Gentiles were not under the regulation of ruling as Israel was, I agree. However God did give them guidance & they could have CHOSEN to rule righteously, (& not be swayed by the enemy).

Daniel said to king Nebuchadnezzar - "Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you; break off your sins by being righteous, & your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your prosperity.` (Dan. 4: 27)

So there we see that God`s man, Daniel is giving the king good counsel, to walk & rule righteously. He actually tells the king how to act, `break off your sins,` (obviously from a God given conscience), & `show mercy to the poor.` Actual detail for the king to enact. However he CHOSE to go his own way & was humbled. Then he `extolled & honoured` God.` (Dan. 4: 37)

So we do see that God gave Gentile rulers opportunity (with details) as how to rule righteously.
