ISLAM RISING - Government of Man

GOVERNMENT OF MAN.

In the beginning God gave man dominion over the earth but when Adam disobeyed God, he forfeited that to Satan who held sway over him. Judgment however, was in the hands of God and we see that when He punished Cain, and also the people in the time of Noah by the flood.

Then after the flood, God establishes human government – the government of man by man. The highest function of government is the judicial taking of life. All other governmental powers are implied in that. Man was then responsible to govern the world for  God.

` Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning; from the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man`s brother I will require the life of man. Whoever sheds man`s blood, by man his blood shall be shed.`(Gen. 9: 5 & 6)

As mankind multiplied after the flood they decided to move to the land of Shinar, (in Iraq). There they built a tower, thinking they could establish a world empire that would be independent of God. This would mean power and control by a few, `lording it over` others.

`Now the whole earth had one language  and one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and dwelt there. Then they said to one another, “Come let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.: They had brick for stone and they had asphalt for mortar.

And they said, “Come let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”  (Gen. 11: 1 - 4)

In judgment God sent a confusion of tongues and scattered them. Thus the name of the tower was called Babel, meaning confusion.

`So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth and they ceased from building the city. Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.` (Gen. 11: 8 & 9)

This tower was man`s first attempt to govern without God.

yes Adam takes the wrap the buck stops or should i say starts here. been thinking about this regarding Adam and why he was disobedient because he was in a relationship with God but even having that spiritual connection was not enough to save him from himself.

it interests me that God felt the need to create man and i got to thinking i wonder if Lucifer was already on a collision course with God before Adam was formed. what ever the case Adam was cast out with Lucifer. the master deceiver. so odds on that God could prophecy long into the future of the outcome regarding mankind. because man was now cast out and now the tree of good and evil was his font of all knowledge (was that the one doh!) and knowledge of these things aint necessarily a good thing especially when we havent the spiritual maturity to go with it.

i am very interested to see how  Ishmael shaped his destiny as i dont really know much if anything about this as yet. but the little i do know maybe is that in fact he wasnt part of the islam religion he was separate which surprised me (no i dont have that info source doh!)

Hi mabel,

Some good thoughts there, sis. Now concerning Adam (& Eve). They were created good and had a relationship with God, their creator. They were moral beings as having a free will (given by God) they could choose to obey God or disobey God. Thus they were vulnerable. So when the `testing` time came, they chose to disobey God, but were deceived into thinking it was not really serious. (you shall not die....)

That is why we don`t trust our sinful desires but look to Jesus to `keep us from falling...` (Jude24) We may fall down but with the Lord we are not knocked out. He will help us up again and we learn to make the right choices, a step at a time, till we go to be with Him.

Yes you are right, Lucifer was already fallen and revealed his character as the `serpent of old,) (Rev. 12: 9) who knew man`s vulnerability and brought out his tactic of deception. Lucifer fallen - Satan, is headed for the lake of fire, down, down down. He was close to the very throne of God but turned away.  Whereas man because God brought in death, we can be changed, we do not have to be in this fallen state forever.

You are right concerning Ishmael. However some of his descendants, Arabs have chosen to follow Islam. Other people have chosen this as well. When you read further in this series you will see when the religion of Islam began.

all the best, Marilyn.
