  2. Prager U: WHERE Are the Moderate Muslims?

The evidence speaks for its self. Yes, this is my position. That is easy to say, but where is the scripture to support this train of thought? I suggest you go to the beginning of the thread that my post was taken from and read all the responses there. If you would like to continue the discussion about Israel after that, then that would be a good thread to do it in. There is no other way to interpret that verse when it is put into context with the rest of Paul's writings. Why would He do that when He said He wouldn't? Jesus said all scripture was fulfilled in Him. I was not using that verse to reference Israel and end times. I was using it to prove a point.
  3. What is homosexuality

Few Christians simply wake up one day and do something stupid or sinful. We slowly let our selves drift and suddenly catch ourselves hitting some rocks. My sense is that most Christians catch themselves in situations like this simply by not being wary. When we are in a rough situation (say our marriage is not going well), we naturally gravitate toward those giving us comfort that we enjoy talking to. An emotional bond just starts to grow over time until it reaches unhealthy and imprudent levels. Speaking from a Christian man's perspective, the biggest relationship danger that most Christian men face when their own marriages are in a rough patch is a nice woman who treats them respectfully, makes them smile, and is supportive of them when they are having a bad day. This person goes from being a few minutes of a high point in their day to becoming a friend and then a confidant. This will slowly turn into an emotional affair and if not stopped will eventually turn into a physical one. My sense is that few Christian men start off one day deciding to have an affair but rather that they just slowly develop a strong emotional connection (over the course of months or years) with another woman without realizing it. One of the biggest telltale signs of this is that a man in this position has no comfortable word to describe her, she's not a spouse nor a girlfriend nor a mistress, she's a "good friend", "just a friend", or "a friend". A second telltale sign is that she becomes a confidant that he shares intimate information with. Part of his relationship with her is a healthy one that decent caring people have for each other; however, part of it is also unhealthy in that he is starting to develop strong intimate feelings for her which are only appropriate for one's spouse. Men in such situations often do not realize that they have fallen into an emotional affair until a physical relationship starts and they realize with a shock that something is wrong. Most men end up extremely conflicted because this other woman is usually a nice person (or they never would have become friends and become attached to them) who is close to them, but at the same time they are aware that there is a very unhealthy aspect to this closeness. The issue is this, strong emotional (and physical) relationships do not just disappear. Often, it takes a long series of negative experiences for us to become frustrated with someone and lose the strong ties. Separation and time can lessen those bonds somewhat, but those bonds will probably quickly build back to their original levels or even stronger if contact is restored. There is no going back to the way things were. A part of one's emotions are now tied up with that person for many years, probably decades, to come. The only way to deal with this situation is to cut ties. I know of one marriage counselor that will recommend that a man do whatever it takes (including changing jobs or even having the family move to a new town) to create enough separation that he will not be around the other woman again. I think that there is a strong possibility that after a time of separation from this woman that the original bond and attraction will resurge to even stronger levels than it was before. If I were reading these same posts from a man, I would be saying that he had fallen in love with this woman and perhaps now loves her more than his wife. I'd advise him to cut all ties and work at his relationship with his wife again. I'd strongly suggest seeing a good Christian counselor for work on your marriage and whatever other things might be going on in your life. I'd guess that problems and frustrations in your marriage and other things in your life to some extent helped set the stage for this situation. If you do not work on those things, you are susceptible again. Right now, this woman is probably a way of dealing with some problems in your life. Until these things are resolved, I'm not sure it will ever be healthy to reestablish close ties. Indeed, if you try, you will probably end up in a terrible yo-yo of being strong attracted, then realizing something is wrong and separating again, and then being attracted again. I'd also suggest joining a women's prayer group or bible study to develop some healthy relationships (with proper balance) with other women. Frankly, my guess is that it will be years before you are in a position to resume a relationship with this woman with the proper boundaries and only after other aspects of your life have changed. I think that this whole situation is largely a symptom that there has been some spiritual neglect of something in your life or something that God wants to and needs to work on in your life. Sometimes there are things we neglect that cause us to weaken spiritually. Other times there are simply wounds and bondages we bring into our Christian life from before being saved that God needs to heal and free us from.

Anyone who speaks of an open canon of Scripture is a false teacher... and anyone born of God knows this!
  6. 2018 Japanese Disasters and a Worldwide Stock Market Crash

It is the reason why in the church the bible says prophets are to be tested by the other prophets, so that if anything comes forth that is of the flesh/mind then the other prophets can toss it out (not the prophet, just the particular word so that the whole flock is not led off track by it). Gifts and callings are irrevocable, that is why even false prophets and false teachers, pastors, etc (if they are), still retain their gifts even if it is mixed with a lot of falsehood and flesh. The old testament paradigm of prophet was in type as far as the body of Christ goes....eg, why we don't stone people any more. Someone young in the Lord has spiritual gifts, they need to be discipled and learn with the help of those who are older in the Lord, more experienced, more discernment etc. When Peter made mistakes, Jesus did not write him off or turf him out of His group, but He brought the necessary rebuke, or help, or restoration, etc, that Peter needed. The young need to be encouraged to exercise their gifts in order to sharpen them and learn from even their mistakes, without condemnation and embarrassment which would only cause them to quench the spirit. We just need to be real about these things, not religious.....the body of Christ is to be like a family, growing and learning through successes and mistakes just like in real life. Well, that's in an ideal situation...........we don't often get to see the ideal in this life. Still God is on His throne in spite of everything.

  9. The Penalty For Apostasy In islam

I have been saying the same thing for years on this very board. You are so spot on and thank you. I would add that maybe those think Islam is just misunderstood should talk to the over 2,000 women who have been raped/sexually assaulted by Muslim refugees (not terrorists) in Germany, as well as the women of Sweden, many of whom have also been raped and assaulted. Living with these knuckle-draggers hasn't' been good for Europe. Now that London England as a Muslim mayor, it turns out he has connections to the terrorist organization, "Muslim Brotherhood." England has suffered from more than one attack since they let these people into their nation. London is not what it used to be. Sexual assault is part of Islamic culture in Islamic countries, something the liberals don't want us to know. They brought that part of their culture to Europe. That is why there is a media blackout regarding what is going on in Europe as the direct result of the irresponsible actions of European leaders to welcome these people into their countries unfettered. It has been a bigger disaster than those governments are willing to admit. Afghanistan was a beautiful, multicultural nation until the Muslims took over. Islam destroys everything it touches. It really is a disgusting, putrid, backwards bloodthirsty ideology that needs to be cleansed from the earth. Islam has no place in civilized nations.

You are simply ignoring the fact that people can fail. If it does not come to pass, obviously God did not speak (that part), but the prophet made a mistake. "Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith" - Romans 12:6 You are simply saying that all who have gift of prophecy must never fail. And this is simply not true, the prophet can speak too much out of his own, especially when they are inexperienced. "But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin." - Romans 14:23 That is, if the prophet pass his faith mark, that part will fail. "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says." - Mark 11:23 And if the prophecy is dependent on the receiver faith, if the one receiving it does not believe... It will not happen. "Do not despise prophecies." - 1 Thessalonians 5:20 "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." - Hebrews 11:6 Glory to God! Amen.

  16. Hi all, A comment Taking in some CSPAN call ins this morning, I heard a lady purporting to be a teacher in a public school stating she walks around as she teaches carrying a book, that she does not want to walk around carrying a gun, because if a shooter comes in thinking she is armed "who is the shooter going to shoot first?" I had to think about that one. And I get the image of a teacher that hopes to be one of a crowd lowering odds that she personally will be the one shot and that maybe it will be higher odds that a kid will be shot instead. That makes me think yet again, that there is a serious lacking, a spiritual or even a simple instinct that is missing among humans, the one that even insects have in the case of bees or wasps for they will protect the nest of the unhatched of their species to their own death. I do pray that we have not fallen away so far as to have less protective instinct for the good of our species, and that we truly think like that teacher ( presuming to caller ot be legitimate in her feelings). And; yesterday at Dade City Florida an 18 old student was arrested with an rifle and ammo at school in his truck.Could he really be that foolish as to innocently have shoot gun shells in th ebed of his truck plus an AR15 and ammo in the cab with the idea he was going ot go hunting? He now is facing a felony charge. He is in deep trouble. Think I need to be in prayer for humans to regain a bit of what used to be called common sense, and for all of us including myself to not have such a failing as to worry about self over the need of many. To hope that maybe a kid would be a target instead of me I a bit beyond my ability to grasp, but how far into self only it seems many have fallen I do worry what about me would I fall like that too. I pray it is not the case should the time ever come, that I would not think that way, nor act it. May there be in humans the instinct to protect, at least as strong as there is in insects like bees. May the Holy Spirit give many the strength to protect like a bee might protect.

You're wrong there 4 , Davida is right if doesn't come to pass, its false prophecy.
  20. 2018 Japanese Disasters and a Worldwide Stock Market Crash

It does not mean it is a false prophet. Simply, the prophet just spoke too much, out of his own. This is an error from the prophet, not from God. People cannot simply expect they are perfect, especially when they are inexperienced with their gifts, they will fail.
  21. Forgiveness???

It is easier when we know that we are handing that person over to God for judgement.. If we have faith in God then we can be assured that God will deal with the issue justly.. So we can take the weight off our own shoulders and forgive the other person.. The ball then is in their court as to if they repent of their wrong doing towards us.. Forgiving does not mean that we should remain open to any future wrong doing by the other person.. Just because we have forgiven a person does not mean that person will suddenly become a nice person and never do the wrong doing again.. So forgive and then be wary and try to remove yourself from being vulnerable to that person.. Now if you believe the person has made a genuine apology to you and is trying their best to be a better person then you can bring down your defenses somewhat.. Ultimately eternal forgiveness is granted by God if one believes Jesus and trusts in the atonement He secured on the cross for our forgiveness and justification.. So in the end the offender must accept Jesus to have their transgression forgiven in Eternity..

Well, Jesus has a different understanding. And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trampled under foot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. Luke 21:24 The times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. And you're still here. The "fullness of the Gentiles" is not the same as the "times of the Gentiles".
  23. 1.The Rapture Theory

I have attempted to reveal the truth to you.. But you will not receive it.. You stand on your interpretation of one verse. But i give many verses that show that your interpretation of that verse is wrong.. But you are more loyal to your doctrines then the Word of God.. I cannot see what profit can come from any further exchange with you on this topic.. May the LORD help you to come to wisdom in this matter..
  24. God delights in my suffering

I spent years where every time I looked into the mirror I'd look myself in the eye and think "you loser" to myself. I basically despised and hated myself. This was after 30 some years of being a Christian and while to all appearances I had a "successful" life. The issue was that I had no clue who God had created me to be. I had created my entire identity around things that I did rather than who God made me to be. God moved me into a miserable place in life where I could not rely on all the things I had been using to define myself. He basically forced me into a situation where I needed to face myself. It took a couple of years but God finally started helping me see who He had created me to be. Somewhere along the line, I started seeing myself through His eyes. It made a world of difference in my life. Nothing around me changed, but the world seems completely different than it did before. I see two distinct complaints in the OP. One is that life is miserable and sucks. The second (and I think most important) is that the OP is basically saying that God created me to be worthless, pathetic, inferior scum, trash, garbage, a loser. There's a world and enemy out there that destroys people in two ways; one is by making them believe themselves to be special and perfect apart from God just the way they are, the second is believing themselves to be irredeemably despicable and worthless. As Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10 NIV) The most important thing in everyone's life is becoming the unique treasure that God intends for them to be. We live in a fallen corrupted world that has infected us with that corruption. God's intention and desire is to remove us from this corruption and restore and recreate us into the unique works of art, the unique treasures, the unique individuals that He intends for us to be. The two parts of the gospel are that first, Jesus came to reconcile us to God, and second, that the Holy Spirit comes to live inside us and make us a new creation. God intends for each of us to be a person that reflects His glory, majesty, beauty, love, mercy, holiness, creativity, passion, and purpose to the world around us. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10 NIV) (Jesus praying to the Father) 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. (John 17:22-23 NIV) But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (I Peter 2:9 NIV) God's work in us is done in two parts. There is the initial work of Jesus in our lives. We surrender ourselves to God by admitting that we are part of a corrupt world and have that in ourselves as well and we need His help and forgiveness. The second part is that God Himself comes to live inside and starts changing us. He starts transforming us into a unique person that will reflect His glory to the world. I don't know where you are at spiritually. I just think that the OP reflects what a world and enemy (that hates God and hates everything good thing He wants to do) wants people to see in the mirror so that they give up and do not even try anymore. God created us to walk alongside Him in a grand adventure called life that is not unlike taking a long hike through the rugged beauty of an untouched wilderness. There will be ups, downs, hard stretches, beautiful views, restful places, rain, sunshine, but throughout it all, there is One beside us. The enemy wants us to lay down in a mud puddle beside the path and stay there sulking over how miserable we are and will make that mud puddle as appealing as possible so we just want to stay there. However, God wants us to get up, rinse off the mud, and start walking forward on the adventure and quest He created us for. That's who He created us to be. Be willing to get out of the mud puddle and start hiking. You are intended to be a special treasure of the Almighty even if it doesn't feel like it at the moment.
  25. I'm feeling very lonely

I agree that you should read the Psalms...many are quite comforting. I also enjoy The Beatitudes located in the first part of Matthew chapter 5. About your loneliness, maybe you could find some volunteer work. Either some Christian type volunteering or maybe with animals? That way, you might feel more relaxed in relating to people that are volunteering with you. Do resist the devil's temptation about homosexuality. I hope you will eventually find a nice girl that you feel comfortable with. But, if not, remember that there are many singles serving the Lord and content in Him. About evangelism, I once read a very good devotional by Hudson Taylor (Founder of China Inland Mission/OMf).....He said the Lord never sends a wounded soldier out to work. So take care of yourself spiritually first, and then you will have something to share with others. God bless you!
