    • It's¬†the debate that ¬†provides a place¬†for the twisting of truth.¬† Jesus teaches¬†us to set our sights on things above, set our treasures in heaven. Joel, Kenny, Joyce, Benny and more hook us with scripture and proceed to get our eyes on the things on earth. Pick up any of their¬†books and read the cover jacket intro and your emotions¬†get directed on improving something temporal, relationship, income, health etc. Jesus wants us to think eternal and the prosperity preachers want us to think temporal. Diametric opposites. Prosperity gospel is the opposite, or opposing,¬†message of Jesus. It's heresy. It's a scam and the fact it has such a hold on people gives us an incite into the spirit of the age and how Jesus combated that spirit. THINKING ETERNAL.¬† If you are rich consider yourself poor and if poor consider yourself rich. Don't hang¬†yourself with the temporal sufferings of this age when we have an eternity of blessing. How many thousand, at this very moment, have just lost everything across the globe. We on this web have it so good.¬† Prosperity doctrine is like walking into the desert picking up a crab leg that's been laying there and eating it. It's repugnant and will make you sick. ¬†
    • So then, you believe then that Elizabeth Elliott never should have been the spiritual mentor to this tribe? Then who would have ever led them to Christ and taught them how to follow Him? As for Corrie, no she wasn't a pastor, but as a speaker, she did teach men.
    • To begin with¬†I did not mean to sound negative, but now I see, that my statement it was a bit strong. I enjoy your posts and I should look into the¬†point you seek to make, rather than focus on the illustration you use to make your point. , thank you.¬† God Bless
    • Yes, and amen. This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.‚Ä̬† John 6:39-40 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.¬†¬† John 6:44 At the last trumpet, the trumpet of God, and after the resurrection which is on the last day.¬† That much is clearly stated, and pretty much ignored by some fanciful interpretations.¬† Seems to me that the place to start would be in understanding the trumpet of God and the last day.¬† But, some are more inclined to focus on what they want to see and not what the Bible says.¬† Even so, those who reject the ways of the world will discern what's happening and fare well.
    • The Apostle Paul didn't see any of that action.¬†¬† I name off several missionaries that didn't see that kind of abundance in their ministry. Giving doesn't release God to do anything.¬† God is not bound by anything.¬† He is sovereign and does as he pleases.¬†¬† One huge area of error in the prosperity gospel is the assumption that we are holding God back from blessing us.

I believe in God, and that there are pieces of him, called love and goodness, in everyone. I also believe in prayer, not the memorized type mumbled in church but the spontaneous kind spoken, ironically, in the last breath of the day, when the lamp has been dimmed and the bedspread drawn down, and it's just you and those pieces of God in you, alone.... I suspect that when a man grows too big to kneel, then he is destined to fall.
