    • I'm not sure if you are saying that I am sending people to hell or judging them because that is not my intention-- but understanding how grace works is critical because the Bible tells us to " Examine ourselves to see if we be of the faith" a sad thing is for a person to believe they have a saving relationship and find out too late they where wrong. We do no one a favor by letting them think they are right if they may be missing the mark-- we are not to judge a persons intentions but we certainly can judge their actions and when we judge we should do it in an appropriate way because the way we judge is how we will be judged-- harshly or with mercy~~~~ Matthew 7 : 1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
    • Well, thank you Butero and let me put it to you this way. The Catechism is a synopsis of the Catholic faith. Its primary source is Scripture. Its other sources are the history and writings of the very first Christians (which we call the Church Fathers) the liturgy, and the Church's teaching authority which is called the Magisterium. If anyone wants to know what the Church teaches about anything from abortion to the Trinity, you will find it in the Catechism. The Catechism in no way replaces Scripture. It is dependent on Scripture. I would say her conscience can never trump official teaching on faith and morals. If she does, she is what we call a "Cafeteria Catholic" , it's not her's or our job to pick and choose. I would also ask her if she disagrees one one "major point" (can you say what it is?) how she is able to say every Sunday at Mass that she believes in "One, Holy, and Apostolic Church"? Catholic moral principles are consistent and interconnected; once one begins to reject one, the others begin to fall as well. It becomes a sort of personal Protestantism. Now as far as comparing it to when you said..... "You would say she is in the wrong, like I would look at someone who disagrees with Holy Scripture is in the wrong." With all do respect Butero, how do you know for certain that this person that disagrees with you on Holy Scripture has it wrong and you have it right? Do you consider yourself infallible? If not, could it be possible that you are wrong? Again.....The Catechism in no way replaces Scripture. It is dependent on Scripture.
    • I think Peter was saved, but not fully dedicated ( converted) 10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all. (not all being Judas) which also addresses the fact that some think Judas was saved but rejected his salvation by betraying Jesus.
    • Yes, but it was nothing like we have today.
