    • If someone wants to call thenselves Catholic, but want to pick and choose for themself which of the Church's teachings to accept and which to reject, they give everyone else who calls themselves Catholic the right to do the same thing. For example, you believe women should be priests...in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 1577 states, "Only a baptized man validly receives ordination...For this reason the ordination of women is not possible!" You don't believe that...well, that's fine.. just tear that page out of your Catechism...you just made it a Catechism of your Catholic Church...not mine. But remember, if you can throw doctrines out, so can everyone else who calls themselves Catholic. That gives Joe Parishioner over at St. Doubting Thomas Catholic Church the right to throw out the Church's social justice teachings...he doesn't feel like feeding the hungry, caring for the poor, and all that other "bleeding heart" stuff - Paragraphs 2401 -2463 just throw it out! ...he just made it a Catechism of his/her Catholic Church...not mine and not any other Catholic in full communion withthe Church. You believe contraception is okay? Paragraph 2370 says contraception is intrinsically evil! Just throw it out! Joe Parishioner doesn't like what the Church teaches on the death penalty - Paragraphs 2266-2267. Just throw it out! You don't like what the Church teaches on Abortion or Euthanaisa? Just throw it out! He/she doesn't like what it teaches on pages 128-140? Just throw it out!Can you see what's happening here Butero? I heard it said once that there is a shortage of vocations to the priesthood in the United States, but no shortage of vocations to the Papacy! If we don't believe in all of it, if we each appoint ourselves Pope and throw out a doctrine here or a doctrine there, then our faith is no longer Catholic. Period! Peace
    • I’m sorry, but I disagree. According to Jesus, whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant (Mt 20.27). Authority isn't who have power to control, but, as said Peter: "Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight [ thereof ], not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; neither as being lords over [ God's ] heritage, but being ensamples to the flock." (1Peter 5.2,3). Only one is Judge, Jesus (James 4.12). The Father committed all judgment unto the Son (John 5.22). Our way to reprove works of darkness (Eph 5.11) is through our good witness.
    • Yes, terrified is the right word for those who do not grasp John 3:16.
    • I can't help but think of a this particular song.  I'd gone through so much other stuff
that walking down the aisle was tough
but now I know it's not enough .... I asked the Lord into my heart
they said that was the way to start
but now you've got to play the part .... They told me that I'd fall away
unless I followed what they say
who needs the Bible anyway? [meaning, you have to follow their interpretation of the Bible rather than reading the Bible for yourself and learning to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit yourself]
.... [sarcasm] I'm grateful that they show the way
'cause I could never know the way
to serve him on my own....   But how do you explain this to someone who never realized they were being choked by control, or are being controlling themselves?
    • Fiction? I think not, early church history and the early Church fathers say otherwise. Okay, so if your personal interpretation (fallible or infallibe?) beleives it not the Catholic Church, what Church is it...Yours? I noticed you didn't answer how old your church is and who is it's founder.

      Peace
