    • "the traditions which you were taught" past tense. Taught by who? 'us'...the Apostles. The ones hand picked by Jesus. Just as in Gal 1 ...Galatians 1:8 KJVS
[8] But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. It has been received and given, no changes allowed. How can you know if extra biblical revelation is true if there is not a written standard? A burning in your bosom? Because Church Councils claim oral Tradition though it may contradict God's Word? Whose Tradition, Eastern Orthodox or Rome's?  I know the pit that God has delivered me from, opening my eyes to His Word and my heart To His Son, from agnosticism through drugs and the occult into the light of His Word by His Spirit and Word.  I grew up around Roman Catholic Spanish Community enough to know that Rome kept them in deep darkness and superstitions fully ignorant of God's Word but gee, they knew the Roman Rites and Masses and their Missal. I know of the Dark Ages where Rome kept the laity dumb through witholding God's Word and feeding them Church  Tradition. I know of the long history of the Roman Church's involvement with antisemitism spewing forth decrees  against the Jews. So please, follow your Traditions all you want, I won't try and convince you otherwise. I'll follow the Scriptures , and before you start up with the abuse of Protestants, I'll agree and say that's what happened when they left off the Scripture and embraced their own traditions. You can have the last word, I'm done responding.
    • I thought the jews followed the pillar of smoke/flame, not the other way around... Exodus 13:21  And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
    • Yes that is correct,  however the Old Testament does contain prophecies that point forward to Jesus as the Messiah, the Christ, it doesn’t contain the whole of the Christian faith. What the Berean Jews were willing to do, therefore, was to open-mindedly look at the Old Testament Scriptures, see if they confirmed Paul’s preaching that Jesus was the Messiah, and then go on to accept the new, Christian revelation that Paul also imparted. And he imparted it by preaching, because the books of the New Testament were not all written yet. If we were to follow the example of the Bereans, we would look at whether the Scriptures we do have support a particular message and, if they do, then be willing to accept further revelation not found in those Scriptures. We would, ironically, embrace the attitude of those at Thessalonica who "did" accept the Christian faith, for in 2 Thessalonians 2, St. Paul told them: 2 Thessialonians 2 [15] So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter. In other words Yowm, one would or should recognize the authority of all of the traditions passed on from Christ and the apostles, whether they were written or not. And this is what the Catholic Church says we should do.   Peace
    • Shalom, Sister. Spirit is a "higher MATERIAL?" Would that be solid, liquid, gas, or plasma? Why can't it be made of what He SAID it was made of - "flesh and bones?!" "Just like the angels?" Yeshua` is NOT "just like the angels!" I would reject that just as much as I reject the Jehovah's Witnesses calling Him, "Michael the Archangel!" You've skipped a few verses in between 1 Cor. 15:40 and 44. Consequently, you've missed the point of verse 40! 1 Corinthians 15:39-45
39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
44 It is sown a natural (Greek: psuchikon) body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul (Greek: psucheen zoosan = "a living air-breather"); the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. (Greek: pneuma zoo-opoioun = "a life-making wind").
KJV Also, in not consulting the Greek, you've also missed the comparison between "psuchikon" and "pneumatikon," and how they are related to their fundamental words "psuchee" and "pneuma," respectively. BOTH bodies are physical and BOTH bodies are "muscles and bones."
    • Never said they did. God's Word is God's Word. There is much prophecies of Jesus in the first testament.
