  1. I personally believe that it is in regard to his humbleness. He did not put weight on his own righteousness, and He viewed himself as the least of all the saints. Also considering his persecution of the church before his coming to the Lord, he had a low esteem of his own importance. I agree with you. He was a humble man and one of the first true "freedom fighters". He really got up the Roman's noses

  2. Hi turtletwo May God bless you at this time. I too just as Believer1997 suggested, say go and spend the time with your Mom, remember the happy times. You could go to the cemetery after the funeral and say your goodbye - Your Dad is not there, it is merely his body but for closure that would be a quiet time for you. Thank the Father that your Dad is not suffering and that you will one day see him again. Those who are causing dissension are not happy people. They need your prayers and remember to thank the Father for the time that you had with your Dad. Dwell on that and spend the time with your Mom and pray for those who are miserable in their own right. God bless you and comfort you - let God go before and behind you and worry not what others may say.

  3. Blessing TT, I agree that the worst can come out during lost of a family member...but you know what? You have weather it before and God has always brought you through. I understand how it must feel with family members acting up, it happens all the time, at family reunions, cook outs, weddings etc but you don't have to become part of it. If the occasion arise..just stay calm and reply that this is a time to pay honor to your dad and you will not have any part in dishonoring him by fighting with family. If you decide and is up to making another trip..and it become unbearable..maybe you can go and be with your Mom...I'm sure this will bring about some needed time well spend for the two of you. A little over a year ago, I joined Worthy and your posts touched my heart. There were prayer requests that you shared needing a breakthrough for your dad. Some even shared that you were unable to go and see him because of your health. WELL SISTER God brought it all together and answered your prayers. Just continue to pray and allow the Holy Spirit to direct you and I am sure you are going to make the right choice, because you are a child of the King, and you know His voice and will not answer or go to another... Love and prayerfully yours in Christ, 2J

  7. Where? So when Jesus returns to reign as King, has no context with us? That is the context of Isaiah 24. The NT says anyone trying to live out the law is under a curse: Galatians 3:9-13 9 So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. 10 All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law." 11 Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The righteous will live by faith." 12 The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, "The man who does these things will live by them." 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." The entire book of Hebrews is abundantly clear on the subject. One should come to the conclusion that no one should attempt to keep any facet of the OT rituals just by reading Hebrews alone. And why do you keep bringing up the Millennial Kingdom? We are not in it. The Millinnial Kingdom is a totally different dispensation and focuses on Israel, thus the return to observing the Sabbath. They also return to offering animal sacrifices during the Millennial reign. Do you also advocate returning to that now? What will be done during the Millennial Kingdom has no bearing on how we are to follow and worship Christ today. And it is funny that you bring it up, because it is s subject I see being constantly avoided. You cannot observe the Sabbath without a Temple, a priesthood, and animal sacrifices. Period. How do you do an end-run around that little detail? The context issue in Galatians is about circumcision and being made right by the flesh. We are no longer under the curse of the law, Jesus took that curse upon himself, and yes the book of hebrew is entirely clear on that subject. But because Jesus took the curse upon himself, that does not mean that there is no law, it means we're condemned by the law and He payed the price so we can live through Him. That verse in Galatians does not say that we should or should not observe the sabbath, and we are not justified by keeping the sabbath, but it says that the curse of the law has been removed. But We do have a Temple, a priesthood, and a Sacrifice. Temple 1 Corinthians 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? Priesthood and Sacrifice. Hebrews 7:24 But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. 26 For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who isholy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens; 27 who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints the Son who has been perfected forever. Hebrews 9:23 Therefore it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; 25 not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood of another— And the reason I keep bringing up the millennial kingdom is because thats the rest I want to enter, and that rest is what the 7th day sabbath symbolizes.

  8. Rest Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee. Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou. And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day. Deuteronomy 5:12-15 It's A Faith Thing Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: Romans 3:19-22 >>>>>()<<<<< I can only speak for myself on this, but I don't think it's just a matter of heart for some of us when they drop these little things like being destroyed for the lack of knowledge. To answer your question though, Jesus covered the don't murder, don't steal, don't commit adultery in his teaching to people. Loving God with all your heart mind and soul pretty much covers the first three and love your neighbor as yourself pretty much covers the last six. But I really don't see where Jesus told us to keep the fourth commandment anywhere, and according to John 5:17 he didn't even always keep it himself and neither does the Father. I personally understand that those who keep "a sabbath" are very free to do so, and they may get a great uplift out if it and that is always a good thing. But these things "always" grow to a defensive thing where people defend their position to the point of making other feel they are being condemned if they don't agree. Fact of the matter is that Paul taught that one could do either and it was really OK with God. So, I'm going after the Lava hand soap. :24: >>>>>()<<<<< The Blood Stays Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 1 Peter 1:18-19 Or No Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. Hebrews 6:1-6 >>>>>()<<<<< And The Name Of Salvation Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12 Is Jesus For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13 Or No He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36 >>>>>()<<<<< Be Blessed Beloved Of The KING For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. Romans 3:23-31 Love, Your Brother Joe

  10. My reasoning why tongues is mostly discussed is because it can be the most abused gift. If we look at the gifts, tongues is the only gift that can not be proven right or wrong. Let's look at what the gifts are from 1 Cor 12. word of wisdom word of knowledge faith healings miracles prophecy discerning of spirits different kinds of tongues interpretation of tongues. Out of all these gifts, the one that could do the most damage is tongues and the interpretation of tongues. Since nobody can out-rightly point to someone who is using tongues and accuse them of abusing the gift, it is abused more then any other. When someone gives an interpretation, who can say it is wrong until it does not come to pass, a lot like prophecy. Remember, it is not the body who falsifies the gifts, but Satan, trying his best to cause discord within the body. We all have the flesh to deal with and this is where he attacks. How our pride and self-righteousness can play a big part if we are not careful. I believe in all the gifts, though I have not seen them all. I also believe that any gift can be falsified. We need to accept His word as truth while understanding that Satan is out to mock God and cause division where unity should be. The gifts are real and active, but doubt rises when one personally sees someone falsifies the gifts. Those who disagree are looking at the one who is falsifying the gift and NOT at He who gives them. All throughout scripture we can find false prophets, false teachers and false preachers. We can see many times where people have pretended to be of God and were found to be false. Why should we be so shocked to see the same today when these days are far more wicked then the days in the past? If history records false miracles, we will find them today also. The same goes with speaking in tongues and their interpretations. Yes, the two gifts surrounding tongues is the least of the gifts, but they are in the forefront. If Satan can get people to believe they no longer exist, he has won half the battle. Be Blessed and learn to "trust in the Lord with all your heart and not lean onto your own understanding".

  11. I was thinking the same thing, Josh, but I wasn't formulating how to word this. Glad you got it! Along those lines, it's one thing for a person who has sought the Lord for the gift of prophecy and/or has and uses the gift of prophecy to talk about tongues being the lesser gift and to use the Scripture stating such and how it is better to seek the gift of prophecy. It is quite another when someone who does not and has not asked for/has and uses the gift of prophecy to use this passage in Scripture to speak against the use of tongues. That to me does not make sense.

  12. Reasons why tongues is the least, and why it is the foremost importance in discussions. Tongues is the least important gift. Tongues edifies the individual believer, while all other gifts edify others, Remember love is the most important? All other gifts operate out of love for the edification of the body, how ever tongues edifies the believer and is private between him and God unless there is an interpreter. Why is the subject of tongues usually end up being the foremost in importance? Because if someone cannot believe the Holy Spirit will give anyone the least of the gifts, how can they desire the greatest gifts? NOw Paul makes it clear that all gifts are used for edification, and the Kingdom of God comes in power! Now He also says in 1 cor 14:1 pursue love and be zealous for Spiritual gifts. Now if someone cannot accept that tongues exist, they cannot accept that any of the gifts exist. If You deny the least of the gifts how can you even begin to touch the greatest? Now if every believer was equipped and was zealous for the things of the Spirit, That would have a lot more impact on the body, and help it grow in the power of the Spirit! But if someone can't accept the least of the gifts, they will never accept the greater gifts.

  13. Who is Babylon. Comparing Jeremiah 51 with Revelation 17-18. I believe that Babylon is America, Jeremiah 51 1 Thus says the LORD: “ Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, Against those who dwell in Leb Kamai, A destroying wind. 2 And I will send winnowers to Babylon, Who shall winnow her and empty her land. For in the day of doom They shall be against her all around. 3 Against her let the archer bend his bow, And lift himself up against her in his armor. Do not spare her young men; Utterly destroy all her army. 4 Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, And those thrust through in her streets. 5 For Israel is not forsaken, nor Judah, By his God, the LORD of hosts, Though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.” 6 Flee from the midst of Babylon, And every one save his life! Do not be cut off in her iniquity, For this is the time of the LORD’s vengeance; He shall recompense her. 7 Babylon was a golden cup in the LORD’s hand, That made all the earth drunk. The nations drank her wine; Therefore the nations are deranged. 8 Babylon has suddenly fallen and been destroyed. Wail for her! Take balm for her pain; Perhaps she may be healed. 9 We would have healed Babylon, But she is not healed. Forsake her, and let us go everyone to his own country; For her judgment reaches to heaven and is lifted up to the skies. 10 The LORD has revealed our righteousness. Come and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God. 11 Make the arrows bright! Gather the shields! The LORD has raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes. For His plan is against Babylon to destroy it, Because it is the vengeance of the LORD, The vengeance for His temple. 12 Set up the standard on the walls of Babylon; Make the guard strong, Set up the watchmen, Prepare the ambushes. For the LORD has both devised and done What He spoke against the inhabitants of Babylon. 13 O you who dwell by many waters, Abundant in treasures, Your end has come, The measure of your covetousness. 14 The LORD of hosts has sworn by Himself:! “ Surely I will fill you with men, as with locusts, And they shall lift up a shout against you.” 15 He has made the earth by His power; He has established the world by His wisdom, And stretched out the heaven by His understanding. 16 When He utters His voice— There is a multitude of waters in the heavens: Now lets look at a few verses concerning the Harlot Compare Jer 51:11 Revelation 17:15 Then he said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17 For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. 18 And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.” 51:5, 9-10 Revelation 17:4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. 51:13 Revelation 18:7 In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ Heres my interpretation, I believe that Babylon "America" is going to forsake Israel when the nations rise against her, causing her destruction. The kings of Medes "Muslim" are going to destroy her. Jeremiah 51:5 For Israel is not forsaken, nor Judah, By his God, the LORD of hosts, Zechariah 14:1-4 1 Behold, the day of the LORD is coming, And your spoil will be divided in your midst. 2 For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; The city shall be taken, The houses rifled, And the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity, But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3 Then the LORD will go forth And fight against those nations, As He fights in the day of battle. 4 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, From east to west, Makinga very large valley; Half of the mountain shall move toward the north And half of it toward the south.

  14. Cessationist focus on the verse you have cited and it is a good study to examine if when... The latter letters of Paul the eventual advice to His beloved Timothy, the tearing out of eyes and giving to Paul whom they loved, etc. (But) more importantly the leading of this understanding John 20:27-29 27 Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing." 28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" 29 Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." NKJV if I were to draw a conclusion to this statement of our Lord it would be this- He seem to be indicating a direction of intent... that He desires a people that will believe solely upon His Word alone and in that believing it will be evidence enough to place their whole entire weight as to being upon it. After all the faith He desires is the one who does not recognize the property of water that causes us to sink! It is further supported by Peter near His finish 1 Peter 1:8-9 8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith - the salvation of your souls. NKJV It is such a haunting thing to hear the Words of Peter's write- knowing all that He witnessed (empirical speaking) and now with the power of The Holy Spirit and his own testimony of the reality they were to believe upon The Word and The drawing of God! Why does Peter not utilize miracles and sign and wonders here? It is a good examination to read the last written Words of Peter and The Holy Spirit that warn us of total destruction ot the empirical evidence we have been brought forth in understanding yet are taught by Christ that it is a small beginning which we so largely rely upon! I am of the opinion that God is asking us to turn loose totally of the created things and grasp using the tool of faith that which we have no concept of yet. Just as we first (birth) so shall the last be come (born again) into a world where sin has never been nor even considered.... this brings tears of hope that this would come quickly by His return... 1 John 3:2-3 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. NKJV and we know this purity is brought forth by fire 1 Peter 1:7 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, NKJV and we know the fire burns all created empirical stuff... and if we rely on that to believe in Christ what shall we be if it is all removed? 1 Peter 1:23-25 23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, 24 because "All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, 25 But the word of the Lord endures forever." Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you. NKJV There is one other danger which the Lord speaks of... in the signs and wonders department 2 Thess 2:9-12 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. NKJV Knowing Christ our shepherd and His proven love for us and has told us all things- He seems to be leading us away from reliance of signs and wonders as to determine if He is in something or not. I am not saying miracles do not happen for I have witnessed them in my own life as you also I am sure... but I do not demand to see His hand at work in all that I ask of Him... and I examine all things by the fruit of their existence according to the Word He has formed us with in these last days. Love Steven Hello Steven...glad you got my sense of humour! I find the way you are trying to link Scriptures to give some weight to the idea that in these times it is somehow more biblical or more honouring to G-d that His body of Believers functions without spiritual gifts, hard to follow and hard to grasp...the fact is the Church does not seek to manufacture them or cling on to something that was made redundant with the demise of the last Apostle or the final compilation of the Scriptures...they operate because they follow naturally in receiving the Holy Spirit, and He equips the Saints. Now a person can choose to believe they are not for today, deny every testimony that abounds, focus on the weird and wacky, and even think that Paul wasted his time devoting such space in his letters trying to establish the need for a modicum of wisdom in using some of the gifts...that's fine, but it certainly isn't honouring to G-d, nor is it a help in ministering to the Body and encouraging others to be bold in G-d and present the L-rd and the Gospel in the power of the Spirit. I would go so far as to say that those that choose this path are not presenting the full Gospel and display a certain lack of faith, preferring to preserve traditional teaching than listen to what the Spirit says about these things. I have known many people that were once in this camp of denial/unbelief...who have been remarkably touched by G-d and moved on into all that He has made available...I don't think I have ever met more than one or two that have gone the other way, and those that I have met have not just gone on to disbelieve in spiritual gifts, but have lost their way and lost their faith for the moment. Living in the West, we can develop a fairly comfortable life-style, where we don't need, and don't see the need for many of the gifts and can happily read our expensive bibles in peaceful surroundings....but go to Africa, India, the Pacific Islands etc and if you don't cast out demons in the name of Jesus or lay hands on the sick for healing they will in may cases continue to go to the local witch-doctor, or maintain their false-religious beliefs as the G-d you represent lacks any power. In these places, the miraculous nature of G-ds power is often the dinner gong to salvation. In the West we do not see a fraction of the mighty works of G-d that they see in these places because of unbelief....and the Spirit, just like the L-rd cannot operate in the realm of the miraculous when an atmosphere of denial is evident...and continues to be taught and encouraged as if it is more scriptural! Mark 6:5And He could do no miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6And He wondered at their unbelief. Also moving in the gifts is exciting...you can't tell me that when you read the accounts in Acts and the early Church, you don't long to see the Church operating in the same dimension...my spirit rises up the whole time when I read such things as:- Acts:16 It happened that as we were going to the place of prayer, a slave-girl having a spirit of divination met us, who was bringing her masters much profit by fortune-telling. 17Following after Paul and us, she kept crying out, saying, These men are bond-servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation. 18She continued doing this for many days. But Paul was greatly annoyed, and turned and said to the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her! And it came out at that very moment. Acts 3:6 But Peter said, I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarenewalk! 7And seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened. 8With a leap he stood upright and began to walk; and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. Acts 6:8 And Stephen, full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and signs among the people They had no more need of the Holy Spirit and the POWER of the Holy Spirit way back then, than we do now...Lawlessness abounds with strange teachings and false religions springing up all over the place as the god of this world seeks to hold back the Day of Judgment and prove G-ds words to be false. The Scriptures should not be used like a smorgasbord from which we take just the things we fancy, but our desire should be for obedience and faith, because we want to be most effective in reaching the lost, and this means embracing everything G-d offers through the Holy Spirit, and being empowered from above...I don't see the Scriptures any where trying to say that the function of the Holy Spirit has changed...because He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow...it is only people who try to smother the flames. I know I have not replied directly to what you have written, but have rather challenged the essence of what I felt your post contained, and I hope you can see where I am coming from, and why I believe it is vital in these times that we are obedient to the Holy Spirit. I leave you and others with this heart-felt testimony from the beloved Paul with emphasis on what fully preaching the gospel is all about. Prayerfully. Botz Romans 15:17 Therefore in Christ Jesus I have found reason for boasting in things pertaining to God. 18For I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me, resulting in the obedience of the Gentiles by word and deed, 19in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit; so that from Jerusalem and round about as far as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

  16. Candice has given the perfect literal interpretation of the passage.... The whole book of Hebrews is dealing with Jews that are new born and are turnig back to law because of persecution that is in standing for Christ. First their own families buries them as though dead and Rome crucified, fed to lions, tortured, them... Once knowing Christ we must grow by the Word so that we can stand against such that soon may be upon us as well! Love Steven

  17. OK.. this is likely to become another debate between opposing sides of Calvinism an Arminianism. It is my understanding of the text, that it is referring to those Jewish Christians who return to sacrifices and the law etc for salvation, rejecting the effective work of Christ (which was one sacrifice for all time). So I personally don't think this passage is about you. However, are you fearing falling away? Where are you at with faith at the moment?

  18. So the Church of Jesus Christ will set up the eternal Kingdom of Christ minus the King Himself? And with the worldwide Church of the Living God in such current utter shameful disrepair and disunity today? Not to mention the Church fast becoming like the world rather than the other way around. This has to be the ultimate caper of the age! "Even so, come Lord Jesus!" and save us from ourselves!
