  2. Kwik what do you think the examination is for ? Some people say it's for unrepeated sin. 1Co 11:28-29 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. (29) For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.

  3. Hello Brother Paul this is another interpretation I haven't heard before very good. Do you say the sickness and death is caused by God as discipline ? If so it's interesting to me that God usually disciplines His children for their benefit. I'm not sure I can understand how God disciplines non believers so that they will not be condemned with the world can you explain further. 1Co 11:32 Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.

  4. This is interesting Qnts2 and an interpretation I haven't heard before. The passage seems to link the sickness and death to judgement and discipline from God not from us. ie. if this sickness and death are self inflicted from gluttony how is it discipline from God ? 1Co 11:30-32 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. (31) But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment. (32) Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.

  6. I can remember being in Alaska when I was a boy.(My dad was in the Airforce) Before school everyday, someone would come over the intercom and say the pledge and a prayer. You don't get that today. God has been removed from the Schools and he is slowly being removed from other parts of everyday life. The US Military is now not wanting Christians to not share their faith. God is not wanted by part of the people in this country and the ones that do want God in this country need to start making some noise about it.

  7. I read some of the article you listed. I am not going to debate historical opinion. It doesn't change the overall point. They were a part of the roman army. They destroyed the temple and the city of Jerusalem. The people who destroyed the city and the temple whatever there ethnic background, are the people of the Prince that confirms the covenant with many, whom most also call the anti-Christ. The point is the same. By the way, after all your comments to me about responding with scripture, I would appreciate it if you would do the same.

  9. But I want to focus on the part that I placed in bold. You by your own admission have admitted making judgments about visitors based on their clothes,[ yes, that they are new or that they may not be saved] but you just believe you shouldn't say anything. I would be the one with the suit and tie, and I wouldn't change because others didn't dress that way, no matter how long I went to a particular church. [that's OK, God loves people in suits and ties, too.] I do that out of respect for the house of God. It is not a common place, but a church. [people constitute the Church, not a building] All you are describing is how different people look at how people dress, and giving your personal opinion as to how you think they should deal with it. Since you did give your opinion of how people should deal with it, I will too. I would use tracts to promote proper dress. They would be in the front of the church for anyone to look at. I had one by Dr. Hal Webb, a Baptist minister that addressed women in pants, for instance. I would on occasion preach about appropriate clothing, based on my standards. I find it interesting your Pastor will preach on clothing based on his standards? He is clothes line? [Here you are wrong] That surprises me. I am finding people all over the board when it comes to what they believe is right and wrong when it comes to clothing, but my point is, nearly everyone has some standards when it comes to clothes. OUR PASTOR, WHILE COVERING THE BOOK OF 1 PETER, READ CHAP 3 AND CROSS REFERENCED 1 TIMOTHY 2:9, THAT THE WOMEN ADORN THEMSELVES IN MODEST APPAREL, WITH PROPRIETY AND MODERATION. THESE ARE THE STANDARDS FOUND IN THE NEW TESTAMENT AND ARE NOT HIS OWN as HE JUST READ THEM. THE POINT IS THAT OUR ATTENTION SHOULD BE DIRECTED TOWARD GOD AND NOT FOCUSED ON PEOPLE OR HOW THEY ARE DRESSED. THE HIDDEN BEAUTY OF THE HEART IS WHAT GOD SEES AND it is HOW WE CAN HONOR THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. A church is only a building; its members who are born of the Spirit are the temple that God indwells. God does not focus on outward appearances. Nor should we. Butero, as much as I respect you, I fear I would be made to feel unwelcome in your church. Not having money to meet your churches standard of dress and shoes, you may even turn me away or ask me not to come back. I am so thankful that Jesus does not do that and that He welcomes me as I am. Blessing to you, brother, Willa

  10. The answer is in Romans 5 (and elsewhere); where you see that all men became sinners through Adam's sin and through Jesus' righteousness we all became righteous, even though in both instance, we did nothing to become either one. The main issue also is the understanding of what God has used for the words sin and righteousness here in this chapter: they are nouns, not verbs. In other words, you are looking at existing in a state of sin vs a state of righteousness, not acts of sin vs acts of righteousness. And the words here are used from Greek which describe making an imprint with a piece of pottery or some type of mold that was pressed into clay to leave the exact likeness of the imprint behind. So, we, by Adam's one sin, were all imprinted with that sin such that we all existed in the eyes of God as sinners in the state of sin (or a prison of sin), and no matter how much righteousness we ever practiced it would make no difference - we'd still be sinners. Conversely, through Jesus' one act of righteousness (being the Lamb of God to take away our sins), we were all imprinted with His righteousness, now existing in a state of righteousness (still able to sin, but it has no effect on whether or not we are righteous - in the same way that a King making a bad decision does not remove him from being the King). I mean, someone shout Hallelujah for what He has done for us! Glory to God! That's shouting grounds right there! And on top of that, we became authorized and empowered to walk in the Blessing of the Lord, just like Jesus!

  11. "To whom much is given much will be required". Much has been given to the Body of Believers (the Church) and they have not lived up to what is required of them. So yes, many of them will experience the judgment of God.

  14. That can never happen, so I don't concern myself with what politicians do. The truth of the Gospel resides within the heart of the true believers and try as they might, man cannot touch it. I agree with you ... my real point is simple - nations who's leaders turn away from God and his ways.... as was the case with Israel so many times in the past ... receiving harsh condemnation. Maybe our harsh punishment is coming and a part of God's plan.
