  1. Just curious what everyones favorite parable is and why? I like the story of the Great Feast. Luke 14:15-23 Their excuses for not coming are ridiculous. "I bought a field and now I must go see it" ...you didn't see it before you bought it? Or "I just got married, so I can't come"...did you not know you were going to be getting married before accepting the invitation? So they simply did not want to come! So he invited the poor and sick. He had his servants go out to dangerous areas (country lanes) and call in the travelers. Some may not accept his invitation, but those who did would be forever associated with the man who invited them to dinner. The man never asked them to bring any gifts for the dinner party...but he did ask them to come then ...not on a later date. The people who went to the dinner were grateful for the dinner and enjoyed the dinner...but the people who rejected the invitation were not allowed to enter the party after they rejected the invitation. Jesus calls all kind of people to follow him...rich and poor, young and old, powerful and oppressed people. Some people are so rich and involved in their own fleshly desires that they foolishly exclude themselves from the Kingdom of God. While some of the strictly religious rebuked Jesus for welcoming those they considered sick and sinners. God is generous and the invitation is open to everyone. The dinner is open to everyone...but he doesn't force any of us to come to it. The invitation is for today...the invitation may not be around tomorrow.

  3. Okay, but that still leaves us with the two posters here who are pushing Sabbath-keeping (which I know is a main tenent of the SDA cult), and one of the posters specifically has said he rejects Christ's deity. I was just wondering if that was a new addition to their canon.

  4. To my knowledge, SDA does not deny the deity of Jesus. The following site will hopefully get you to their 28 principles: http://www.adventist.org/fileadmin/adventist.org/files/articles/official-statements/28Beliefs-English.pdf Trinity Z2 There is one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a unity of three co-eternal Persons. God is immortal, all-powerful, all-knowing, above all, and ever present. He is infinite and beyond human comprehension, yet known through His self-revelation. He is forever worthy of worship, adoration, and service by the whole creation. (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14; Eph. 4:4-6; 1 Peter 1:2; 1 Tim. 1:17; Rev. 14:7.) Father Z3 God the eternal Father is the Creator, Source, Sustainer, and Sovereign of all creation. He is just and holy, merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. The qualities and powers exhibited in the Son and the Holy Spirit are also revelations of the Father. (Gen. 1:1; Rev. 4:11; 1 Cor. 15:28; John 3:16; 1 John 4:8; 1 Tim. 1:17; Ex. 34:6, 7; John 14:9.) Son Z4 God the eternal Son became incarnate in Jesus Christ. Through Him all things were created, the character of God is revealed, the salvation of humanity is accomplished, and the world is judged. Forever truly God, He became also truly man, Jesus the Christ. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived and experienced temptation as a human being, but perfectly exemplified the righteousness and love of God. By His miracles He manifested God’s power and was attested as God’s promised Messiah. He suffered and died voluntarily on the cross for our sins and in our place, was raised from the dead, and ascended to minister in the heavenly sanctuary in our behalf. He will come again in glory for the final deliverance of His people and the restoration of all things. ( John 1:1-3, 14; Col. 1:15-19; John 10:30; 14:9; Rom. 6:23; 2 Cor. 5:17-19; John 5:22; Luke 1:35; Phil. 2:5-11; Heb. 2:9-18; 1 Cor. 15:3, 4; Heb. 8:1, 2; John 14:1-3.)

  5. The bible calendar is the calendar used by the Jewish people. The bible does tell us what day it was, per the biblical calendar. It is just that the calendar used today, by most people, is not the biblical calendar, so it is confusing. The bible is a perfect record. It is people who have it messed up.

  6. There were times Jesus acted in anger and it was not sin so it may or may not be. Self righteous anger is always sin while having a godly jealousy over those your responsible for is normal.

  7. What you are saying is you have the ability to control your anger. You are not a person who allows anger to control their actions. You also have the ability to use the energy created through anger to the good and many people do not have this ability. I am like you. When I used to get angry at work for whatever reason I would put that energy towards my production. I had a supervisor that realized this and used it to his advantage. My supervisor would give me jobs that needed to be done quickly and correctly; would assign those jobs to me and them do something to make me angry. Boom it worked for a long time until I figured this out. After I figured this out I went to him and said why didn't you simply ask me would I please get this job done as quickly as possible. He said because when I have ask others to do a job quickly they refer to the time they are allowed to do the job and tell me to come back if they are late. He said others when ask to do a job fast would make mistakes and end up with scrap so when I realized you work fast and the parts are good when you get angry I used that to my advantage. This was undue stress on me and my family because of the hurt I felt from being made angry for no fault of my own, sometimes went home with me. I asked him to please stop these tactics and simply ask and I will give him the same results. He did just that and gave me awards, we developed a very strong friendship. Find out what is driving you to be angry and work on a solution because anger is really harmful and destructive and will eventually take a negative control

  9. depends. if you're motivated to make positive changes in your life or community because of righteous anger against evil, then i'd say no, that's not a sin. but if you're motivated to get revenge or to be destructive because you're angry at someone who did you wrong, that would be a sin.

  10. I don't see how it could be put any better. We have a Savior that is alive and can and will set you free from all you have talked about. All you need to do is just trust Him, hold tight to His Hand and get into His word. Stop listening to what the enemy is speaking to you. He has one goal and that is your destruction. On the other hand Jesus wants to lift you up above all of this.

  12. Hi its nice to meet you. I know that God can heal your hurt and take that guilt away Romans 8:1 tells us In Christ Jesus is no condemnation. Don't let the enemy steal your joy. People hear are praying for you. God loves you and your family. He has a plan and it is good trust that. Even when it feels like God is distant or isnt active He is don't fall for lies from Satan. God can make unholy vessels (you and me) Holy again. You are beloved to the Lord and He wants to help you.

  13. Thanks for posting. There have been times when I felt the chat mods picked on certain chatters and times when I felt the response to "trolls" really didn't seem Christian at all. This was years ago and it has become better. I am thankful to God for George and for this ministry. I continually pray for Worthy, the mods and the chatters. We must treat each other with love and compassion. We can disagree and not be offencive to others.

  14. Your sexual relations before marriage really isn't breaking any real commitment to your husband..... it's God and yourself that you need to get any forgiveness from....... as for your husband, what commitment have you broken with him. Don't break up your marriage and hurt your kids over things you did before you were a family.... but you do need to get with God and find some way to forgive yourself before it destroys you..... you think you have sinned against your husband but in reality you have sinned against yourself and God...... don't punish your husband for your folly.

  16. God created only one person from the beginning, Adam. Eve was taken from Adams side. After He created those two, it was up to the humans to reproduce. We are from the genes of our parents, not from Gods hands, as in Adam and Eve. Many blame God for birth defects. They even blame God for many diseases. Man lives in a fallen world. Sin is what brings about pain and suffering, not God. Saying that, He does take what seems to be ugly, undesirable and unwanted and uses them for His will, as long as the person is willing. I have seen more love from a mentally handicapped person than I have from many "normal" humans. I have also seen people with an undesirable disability love God more than I could ever imagine. Seeing things like this makes me wonder who is the handicapped, them or us?

  20. YOu know what? I've been a Christian a good many years and never even heard of a satanic hand signal. I think people need to be more concerned with themselves and less concerned with others. Again, what kind of fruit is this minister bearing? Is he/she preaching the Word and Christ crucified and risen? Salvation? Really? If you test the teaching and it is sound perhaps you should write the teacher a letter and let them know that you are concerned with the way they wave or greet people or gesture while preaching. Maybe they haven't heard of these "signals" either.

  21. None of my Christian friends go to church on Sunday as the Sabbath.... Going to church is not a rest, it is a lot of work for a lot of people. We go there to worship and eat and have fun and enjoy each other's company praising the Lord..... but a day of rest...... not even close. I am on duty this Sunday. Putting out chairs and tables, sorting out kids stuff, checking toilets for supplies, doing announcements, taking tithes, etc. Must admit I am happy it only happens every two months or so when we are on the roster. Not much rest, and not much worship on this Sunday. Just work. Someone has to do it...

  22. Hi tff ... this is a discussion forum and you will receive replies that do not contain scripture. Please refrain from telling people how to reply to your questions. I am not telling people how to reply but ask them with a please. If you do not want me on this site, please tell me and I will leave. Hi tff, I have read many posts over the years and when someone posts "and only texts from the Bible must be provided please to prove your point", it tells me that you are very strongly asking people to use scripture when replying, basically telling them that they need to follow your guidance to back up what they say. Some come here trying to control threads, starting our with a nice reply like yours. Then, when it is not followed, they ratchet it up a bit until they demand replies are done in a certain manner. I was nipping this in the bud, in case you were one of those who like to control a discussion. In other words, I was fulfilling my responsibility of being a site moderator. As for us not wanting you here, that could not be any further from the truth. If we are concerned about your actions to the point of having to take action, you would already be in a PM with us and we would of tried our best to correct something we see wrong. No need to worry, my friend.

I am not telling people how to reply but ask them with a please. If you do not want me on this site, please tell me and I will leave. You are telling people how to reply, please or not, and OneLight, graciously, pointed that out to you. Why the defensive attitude with the "please tell me and I will leave?". No one hinted at asking you to leave, and just some advice: Discussions on Worthy can get really intense at times. If you are going to introduce subjects you know are going to illicit various responses, be ready to accept the responses you get. Did you follow the link Other One provided for you on this subject. 24. I think the most important thing is the spirit in which you do things. If you're doing it because you feel it brings honour to God to keep a sabbath for whatever reason (maybe you put aside a day to be with God in prayer and in the scriptures or spend time in His creation etc.) then there's nothing wrong with that and, for you, the sabbath is still very real and valid. As followers of Christ in the new covanent, we aren't bound by old testament laws and traditions (including the sabbath), rather we have been saved by grace and we won't be measured against the law. That said, a lot of today's western moral code is derived from teaching across the Bible, including the law. The law also serves to show us God's ultimate standard for humanity and how much the Isrealites had to do to keep themselves right with God. It shows us how helpless we are without God's intervention and that it is only because of Jesus that we can be made right with God. If you are keeping the sabbath because you see it as a hard and fast rule that can't be broken or others are making you feel that to be a genuine Christian you must keep a sabbath day then I would question the motives there. Keeping a tradition in place for no other reason than it makes you feel superior to those who don't, or so that you will look good next to someone who does isn't going to serve to honour God, only those who would impress this tradition upon others. Christians in the early church were advised by Paul in regards to different festivals, what they do or don't eat and drink doesn't matter (see Colossians 2:16-23). v23 says: "Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence." Paul also writes to the Corinthian church about a similar matter (1 Cor 10:23-33). Although this is directly about meat that has been used as a sacrifice, the logic still applies. You are free to choose and your salvation is not hinged on whether or not you keep the sabbath, or even on what day you observe it. As v 31 says: "whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

And The Way Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, Psalms 40:7 To Know Jesus Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. Hebrews 10:7 Is To Abide In Him Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:4-5

  26. The By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Hebrews 7:22-24 Master Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Hebrews 7:25-26 Talk Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. Hebrews 7:27 ~ Saints Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:26-27 Are Believers Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied. Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. Jude 1:1-4 And Little Sister, Don't Let Those Big Fellows Fool You But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. Matthew 23:8-10 ~ Be Blessed Beloved Daughter Of The KING The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. Numbers 6:24-27 Be Very Blessed And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Galatians 4:6 Love, Your Brother Joe
