We sometimes think we have to have this loud voice from God ...slapping us into correction....and when we don't hear it, we say we don't hear God's voice. I think we are promised that once with us...He is always with us. We get His voice in several ways....through Prayer, through others, and through His Word. Immerse yourself in His Word and Prayer....those are two things that you have control to do. It's steps you take...if our mind is fully on the Lord, then these things in our minds...sins we repeat ...become less and less.... That and we need to take steps to remove things from our life that open the door to those sins we are weakest with....if those sins are of a sexual nature...then removing computers/internet/ even our smart phone and get a cheaper flip phone that only texts and calls people...then so be it. We don't expect an alcoholic to keep a stocked bar in his house? ...so removing things from our lives that give us issue is also a step we have to take. God Bless, Hip

Authorities are pressuring Pastor Saeed Abedini with new charges while at the same time promising his freedom should Abedini abandon his faith in Christ and convert back to Islam, according to Tiffany Barrans, international director at the American Center for Law and Justice. Barrans said that though the pressure on Abedini comes and goes, this latest ill treatment may be related to the ongoing international efforts to limit Iran's ability to produce nuclear weapons. "There's just been an increased amount of activity and tension and threats and singling out of Saeed as an American in the prison since the framework agreement was reached between the countries," said Barrans. "These nuclear negotiations have dramatically complicated the situation – as much as our government insists that he is not a political pawn and that they will not allow him to be used as a political pawn." Barrans said that if the U.S. government leaves the negotiations without obtaining Abedini's freedom, his release will prove even more difficult. This September will be Abedini's third year in prison. According to Iranian law, most criminal offenders can apply for clemency, or parole after serving one-third of their sentence. You just said it all. Only those who accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior will see Heaven. Go back to John 14:7 That is what gets you into Heaven, no works on our own. It's all about what Jesus did on the Cross.

God created the light, so what you have here is a contradiction. For one to claim God is light physically, then that is claiming that God was created. How exactly does the Creator create Himself?

You know, I just can't understand why some people think that false doctrines can only come from wolves? I think most false doctrines in any church, much less Christianity, comes from its own ranks of believers who are serious about their belief, just seriously wrong about how they have interpreted something in scripture. False doctrines come from mostly sheep. Those are the most deadly ones as well. When wrong believers think themselves right about a topic. That is the nature of deception; a deceived believer does not know they are deceived; but when a believer thinks they are immune to deception, they are deceived already. Christianity cannot be protected from deception. No religion can.

When I find my mind wondering, I try the following advice: Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

When worries or thoughts that are unwelcome intrude, may I suggest you let your mind or voice sing the OLD hymns that speak of God's love and forgiveness, songs like, Old Rugged Cross, Just AsI Am Without One Plea, God Will Take Care of You,...listen to Elvis' version of Who Am I, or Dottie Rambo's I Just Came To Talk To You Lord...there are so many...open a hymn book or go on YouTube to the Gaither's site and engross your mind and heart in their songs. There are other sites but the songs that speak to your heart and mind are what you need to reach out to Gid.

As far as forgiving others, the most difficult for me was in forgiving my ex wife for leaving me for another man. I find it hardest though to forgive myself, for things I have done or said that hurt others.

WillowWood, there is one aspect you may have not thought of. there is much prophecy in the world today. Some of couse is false prophecy. But there are real prophets of God that are prohesying. Plus the first one looks like outright contrivance to me. And none can be confirmed in the presence of other prophets as the scripture says. Perhaps, but if you browse the internet, you can find many other prophets. I have never heard a true prophet of God that prophesied of a post trib rapture. I have certainly heard or read from many different prophets. There may be a prophet that has prophesied of a post trib rapture - but I have never heard or read. Of course as a good student of the bible, when I hear a prophecy I must compare it with the written word of God. I believe the rapture as written by Paul is the trigger for the start of the Day of the Lord (1 Thes. 5) and John shows us the start of the Day of the Lord comes in Rev. 6 at the 6th seal, LONG before the 7th vial ends the week. It is in black and white written down, and hard to deny. And it certainly is in agreement with what else Paul wrote, that God has made no appointment with us for His wrath. No appointment means we won't be there. Yes, it's true the scripture says we are not appointed to wrath, a fact that makes me very happy as the wrath of God is a terrible and fearful thing. But the scripture also says we will suffer persecution at the hand of men for the testimony we hold of Jesus Christ. That's what has always happened. The apostles were persecuted yet never suffered the wrath of God. Two major examples in the scriptures show that Noah and Lot were taken to safety before the wrath of God fell on the evil ones, and they were taken out on the SAME DAY the wrath of God began. Since we know the wrath of God comes after the tribulation of those days it's clear we will go through the period known as 'great tribulation, such as was not, nor ever shall be." Now you mentioned the 6th seal. This seal opens near the end of the 70th week. The 6th seal has the same signs as the passage in Matthew 24, i.e., Matt 24:29 “Immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken." Rev 6:12-14 12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. The above describes the Day of the Lord and it is at this point when the believers are gathered. Matt 24:30 describes this event. Nowhere before the events of Matt 24:29-30 is the gathering of the believers described. Therefore the 'rapture' occurs after the "distress of those days" and in conjunction with the sign of the coming of the Son of Man when all the people of the earth mourn and the angels are sent by Jesus to gather the elect. So in contemporary vernacular, post-trib or pre-wrath is the timing for the 'rapture'.

I do not think you should feel insulted, as I do not think you would dress like that, The point was though, that you may not realize that you ARE naked in public, in the eyes of conservative Muslims, and I am implying that by wanting to dress as you want in their place of business, is equivalent to thinking that a Hobby Lobby employee, should be allowed to work naked if that is the that workers world view. I think that wearing a scarf, does not mean you are a Muslim, I do not remember any law or custom which says "Only Muslims wear scarves". So, if it is cold outside and a woman wears a scarf, she is indicating she is a Muslim? All these imaginary people are asking their fictional employees I think, is: "Please respect our values and sensitivities enough, to dress modestly while you are representing our business". I think that is a reasonable request. . . . and yes, I ate and enjoyed my waffles!

Um . . . probably my first wife leaving me for another man and her adulteries? Not sure, maybe I am forgetting something . . .I've been beaten up and left unconscious, 3 times, having done nothing at all to provoke an attack. Seems hard to believe, must be I used to wear a "hurt me" sign. Once I became proficient in martial arts, this stopped happening, probably carried myself with more confidence. . . . maybe there is something worse but those are the only things that come readily to mind where someone has wronged me in any significant way. Let's see, I have been swindled out of significant money a few time, about $10,000 on one occasion. However, I don't recall those being difficult to forgive, stuff happens in life, you just shrug it off and move on, and I was not even a believer any of those times. Hopefully, as a believer, should someone wrong me again, it will also be easy to forgive. Perhaps, not even waiting until after ones ordeal, Jesus forgave WHILE He was on the cross, that is our model I think, that is who we imitate, after all, He has forgiven us, it is proper to forgive others. Many passages of scripture appear to link our forgiveness, with out willingness to forgive, there is a sort of tension between that, and the idea that we have been forgiven, by Christ's action, His sacrifice on our behalf. I think the answer to this tension, lies in the fact not that we forgive, in order to be forgiven, but because we are forgiven, God has given us a heart of flesh so believers DO forgive. It is like the works things, we do not work to earn forgiveness, those who are His, produce works, that is in our new nature. Addendum: Oh, I just reread the O.P., and it was asked: "Do you struggle to forgive?" I guess I would have to answer: "No!"

Yes i do. But most often, i struggle at forgetting rather than forgiving. I could easily forgive someone from afar but forgetting is hard. From afar meaning, if someone actually comes to me and asks for forgiveness, i would easily forgive and forget as the person has come clean about it. However, i probably cant forget people who have hurt me but never resolve the matter to me. As time goes by, i probably will forgive, but i don't think i can forget. The pain n hurt will still be there. Of course, it depends entirely on the circumstances as well.

I like this answer, because it summarizes what most of you have said, and of course we know the scriptures say to have time and energy for the well being of others, and not just for our own interests. The "how to be humble - Biblically" was mentioned in post #11 "by the mercies of God...that we present ourselves ... a living sacrifice." This "living sacrifice" allows God to witness through us without us necessarily being aware of it. We live by faith in how He accomplishes it, knowing only, that He has mercy on us as sinners. The conditions of God's mercy are to come to Him with our pride and accept mercy for our sin. But if we tell ourselves that we are humble, or wait to be humble, or try to be humble, we will never be able to present ourselves in service for God. Why? because it can only be by the mercies of God. So if the condition to receive mercy is to receive the free Gift in Christ that covers every conundrum of sin and pride, then in this manner, we have presented ourselves as a living sacrifice to Him. But what about the verses which say - humble yourselves? How do we humble ourselves? By communicating to God as we are, - in our full unlikeness of Him, and receiving His acceptance. What a liberating God we have.

Who can imagine what Pastor Saeed is going through? This man has dedicated himself to Jesus Christ, yet he is being tormented through the actions of evil men. Imprisoned and separated from his loved ones, yet he never gives up his faith. It must be terrible where he is right now. Can you imagine his prison cell? It must be awful. I doubt if it is comfortable or hygienic. People like this man are what the Book of Job was all about. What terrible timing and what a misfortune of place and circumstances. This man is living during the bad side of history. There are no Western governments to intervene and rescue him because he is unfortunate enough to live during an era of cowardice and apostasy. I can't see Obama doing anything to help him. Can we hold ourselves as high as Pastor Saeed? I'm not sure I'd be fit to even walk in his footsteps. We must pray for his release. If there is no human intervention I can only hope for a mysterious prison escape similar to what we read in the Book of Acts. Whatever happens to him, I'm sure that the blessings and the rewards that await him in heaven will be tenfold.

Many of the false gods are actually demons. The Buddists admit that the idol with all the arms that is worshipped in south east asia is actually a demon, and many others also are. Many religions like Hindu and Buddism have hundreds of gods. Some people worship satan. Confucious, Zen and Hindu religions are ethical religions of enlightenment, trying to empty the mind through meditation till they have peace. Some advocate spontenaity or martial arts. There is much diversity in them. Muslims hope to go to paradice which is the garden of Eden. There men are given 72 virgins if they are martyred. Women get only one guy. They believe that very few will be worthy of heaven, even if they repent 70 times a day. The only guarantee is martyrdom. The muslim god is bloodthirsty, demanding that all be killed that don't convert to muslim faith. The Koran says that the Trinity is an evil doctrine, Claiming that we believe the Son and the Holy Spirit are parters of Allah, and Allah taunts us for this belief in the Koran. So Muslims do not believe that they worship the same god as we do. We don't think so either. These religions are so opposite of the God that we worship. Our God is love, righteousness, holiness, goodness, justice, Almighty God, all knowing, all seeing, all powerful, present everywhere, the God Who provides, the God Who heals, the Most High God, the I AM (eternal), the Everlasting Father, the God of Israel, the God of my Salvation, the Living God, the God of My Praise.. Jesus is Savior, God With Us, the Prince of Peace, the Good Shepherd,, the I Am, Jehovah.. The Spirit is the Comfortor, the Advocate, closer than a brother. They are ONE GOD. He came to us to offer salvation through the blood of Jesus the Messiah. These names of our God do not discribe the gods other religions worship.

Hi bopeep1909, An extremely good question in today`s troubling times. Others have given very good answers to which I agree. Just my thoughts - to grow to maturity in Christ is a long process of putting what we read in God`s word into practice in everyday life. Thus concerning `not to worry,` pops up all along the journey as different trials come up. God knows where we are in `His Holy Spirit school` as it were, & will not let the enemy or circumstances overwhelm us. Personally in my life over many years it has been a letting go of expectations, not holding on to my dearest things, stressing about this & that. And well really, life has gone on & now I am not so `intense,` my friends would say. There are different areas in our lives that the Lord brings to our attention & bit by bit we learn to give these over to Him, trust Him (as the others have said). Be kind to yourself & not stress, we can`t hold it all together & know that it is a journey. This I would say to us all as we let go of worrying & keep looking to Him who holds all in His hands. Yes I would be more upset that they are visiting a mosque. Would they also visit a church? As for the dress code, its not a big deal to conform to the dress code of a place you are visiting. Mike and I went to a local greek orthodox monastery known for its landscape gardens. (Its how the brothers support themselves, by designing gardens for people.) They gave me a long skirt and scarf to wear. Then offered us delicious cookies and a cool drink before we wandered around. I had no problems with putting on the clothes.

I believe because too many times I put my faith in the things of this world and not once have I ever received any answers or any comfort when I was sad. Then there came a period in my life where I wanted to end it. God showed himself to me that day and since then I've never turned back. He told me (not audibly) that I need to seek him for answers and for comfort, because the world will only make me more miserable. And he was right. When the world doesn't make sense, God does. Without God, I would be so lost. Nothing would make any sense. That's my short answer.
