  1. Yes, very wrong -- the Bible clearly discusses a taking away of the Church -- the timing of which is what is in question. This sounds like a teaching similar to Watchman Nee, a kind of "first-fruits" rapture -- before the "next rapture". I'm not closed to that -- however I believe the Scriptures are clear that it seems to be a single event and it appears the entire body is taken together at the same time. I believe that believers will be purified before seeing the King! Whether we go through the purification ourselves -- or we're going to be "purified" through persecution, I believe that may the question we're facing. Remember that "judgment" must begin at the house of God! I don't believe the "laodicea" church should expect to be raptured -- when the judgment of Revelation 3 says that "because you were lukewarm" I shall spew you out of my mouth! That doesn't sound like "rapture" to me! So the question is -- what does the Lord mean that "I will spew you out of my mouth"? Personally, I believe we can have a "concept" of what's coming -- but in reality, I believe the book is still sealed to a point that none of us can dogmatically say what will take place. But you don't have to worry about what's coming -- if you're already living a "worthy" lifestyle!

  2. I guess because it's a given that Jesus is just as present in the Old Testament as He is in the New. Grace did not change the fact that there is sometime a need for war... all the way to the end of the book in Revelation. It's not hard for me to figure. Ah the old fig tree. Got it. It is easy to see in the Old Testament so no need to prove it in the new. Sorry I can't accept that. if you take the position of the complete pacifist that you seem to be talking about here, we would not be a free nation. Where did I say I take any position? I simply am asking questions and seeking answers. You assign a position to me by reading into my post using speculative imagination it appears. I want someone to defend their position of agression using the New Testament. You declare that we could not be a free nation without the use of violent force. How can you declare such as true? I will repeat myself "If you take the position of the complete pacifist that you seem to be talking about here......." I did not accuse you of taking any position, just what IF. Got it Sam, thanks. On to the second question I asked. You declare that we could not be a free nation without having resorted to violence. Such a declaration requires omnipotence because it says there is no other way to be free than through violence. How can you declare such? Read my signature. True peace is not just the absence of conflict but the presence of justice. This world is full of violent evil men, and they will not be stopped by pacifism. Many times the only way to stop a violent man and bring about justice is through violence. Jesus was not a pacifist, at least not by today's standards. He realized there was a time for violence and a time for peace, and He had the wisdom to know the difference. To call Jesus a pacifist is to spit in the face of the Bible, because it does not teach that. Its not a sin to own a firearm. Nor is it a sin to use one in accordance to the law and to the Bible, and there are Biblical examples of when it is not only OK to own a weapon but to use said weapon. Peter defending Jesus with a sword was brought up rarlier-what I did not see is who told Peter to carry the sword in the first place. The answer is Jesus did. So obviously, Jesus is OK with His followers carrying deadly weapons, its not the weapon that is the sin its what you do with it.

  4. This is what Watchman Nee spoke of. Basically a "firstfruits" rapture -- the "mature" fruit harvested first in understanding of the Firstfruits harvest in Israel. Then the "lukewarm" believers -- being Christians who've not "matured" and are forced through the maturity process through tribulation. And then harvested at the end of the age. Personally, I find it an interesting concept -- and while I disagree with it -- there's some interesting parallels to the harvest of Israel and the idea of a "firstfruits" harvest. I honestly find the gathering of the Saints as a universal event -- with no distinction between saints. However, the idea of the virgins -- 5 were prepared and 5 were unprepared -- those with oil and those without oil -- should be a warning to the Saints! As all were expecting the "bridegroom" -- thus anticipating a Wedding to come -- but only 5 were truly ready to see the Bridegroom! We're about preparing the "bride" of Messiah in anticipation of His return! If we're truly ready -- then we don't need to "know" exactly how it will play out -- because we're already prepared for it!

  5. Amazing. I teach this type of understand of Faith, it could save your life. Jeff had nothing to do with it, He has covenant with God. Tornadoes have to listen, they have ears. You can protect others though, as I will tell at the bottom, but it's Love that Works Faith. There has to be a reason or something in you that is very real for you to plead on the behalf of others. Just saying Lord protect them and protect that is not good enough, and we need to learn not to just throw prayer out for others in a un-thoughtful way, but expect all prayer to be heard and answered. Jeff would have had to know his neighbors, and had real, genuine compassion for the enemy to let them go, otherwise the enemy has a rightful place. According to the news, the Tornado was a F4 wind speed reached 170 MPH, touched down for about 15 minutes on a 8 mile path and wrecked havoc on homes and businesses in Rutherford County TN. The Town of Murfreesboro hit the hardest and suffered most the wind damage. Outside of Atlanta, GA I had just got my load (Truck Job) after fighting traffic all day in Atlanta, and through the 285 loop to I-20. I had to go to Alabama. The weather was just horrible and about 20 miles on I-20 the wind started to really pick up. A little further I noticed trucks laying on the side of the road that had been blown over. You see that a lot in states like WY, or NV coming out of UT. Not in Georgia though. I noticed the sky was real black and dark so I figured I would be driving through some storm. In a little bit, hail started to come down, near golf ball size a little smaller and I was driving into the wind. Smack, smack, bap, smack the hail was beating my windshield and my truck was getting very hard to steer. My concern was breaking my windshield driving into the hail and wind, so I slowed way down. Looking up ahead I saw a line of about 20? trucks (A long line of them) pulled over on the side of the interstate, and good reason, I could no longer steer anyway, the wind was just crazy. So I pulled in behind them to let whatever it was pass. So, I just call the wife to talk to her until the wind passed, my truck was being shaken like crazy back and forth. I clicked on the CB (I mostly keep it off because I don't like the language) to hear if anything what was going on. Talking to the wife, I hear other truckers saying they see it, they see it. A tornado I guess had touched down, and the trucks in front could see it. I was looking at the back of the truck I pulled in behind. So I figured just a Tornado, not that big a deal, and kept talking to the wife until it passed. The wind really picked up more and I hear on the CB this tornado was coming right toward where we all had parked. I guess it was going down I-20 back and forth across the road. I was just waiting on it to pass so I could continue on to Alabama. Then I hear some guy on the CB scream we are going to die, it's going to hit us. I heard another guy say he was calling home in case He never could talk to his wife and kids again. One guy just kept saying oh my God, oh my God. My first thought was truck drivers acting like a bunch of scared school girls, but then something else happened inside me. I can't explain it, it just washed all over me. Tears started to come down my face for wanting mercy on these guys. I had no idea what was wrong with me, but I knew the Love of God just flooded me. I already knew the devil did not have a Snowball's chance to hurt me or my truck, but the other guys, what about them? I told the wife I have to let her go and take care of something. I hung up and I spoke. Tornado, in the name of Jesus, you will go around the trucks from the front of the line, and miss all the trucks to the back of the line. Now move it. What happened next though, surprised me. The hail stopped, the wind stopped everything stopped. The trucks in front who saw it said it just lifted and vanished. Even the dark clouds were gone. I never seen anything like that. Others saying on the CB it was there right in front of them, then not there. Praise God, the truckers had no idea that God just spared them. People like to Mock God and say He does not care to always heal those that believe in Him, or protect. They mock those that teach how awesome our God is, but I will tell you, the Word had never failed anyone, not one time and the God that is mocked as a uncaring God, actually does care and is always present in the time of need, or danger. Jeff in the video knows this, I know this. Everyone who names Jesus Christ ought to know this. Be blessed.

  6. To answer the first question -- that we may be accounted worthy. First of all, there's NOTHING we can do to add to the sacrifice of Yeshua (Jesus). If we think we can add to it -- then we've missed the whole understanding that we are saved completely 100% by grace! The illustration that I use in Israel is every Friday night we gather light the candles and break the bread and the wine. As I break the bread, I salt the loaf -- as is custom in the Jewish culture and explain the significance behind it. First of all -- Yeshua said He is the BREAD of life! And when we break bread -- we're reminding ourselves once again of how His body was broken for us! He NEVER once called anyone to be the BREAD! So this understanding -- that He alone is the sacrifice -- this will remove spiritual pride -- and come to the perfect understanding that in the eyes of God -- it's HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS that we can approach boldly to the throne of grace! There's nothing we can do to add to His righteousness! 2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. This is how we gain favor with God -- not in what we have done -- but what His Son has done for us. This is why we ask all things in HIS NAME! However, what's the salt part of the covenant? The covenant of salt is used 3 times in the Bible -- and it was used in marriage -- in a pact of loyalty -- and salt was always precious! For example we get the term -- he's worth his salt -- comes from how the Romans paid their legions with salt! Jesus never called us to be the BREAD -- he alone is the sacrifice -- but HE DID CALL US to be the SALT! So when I salt the bread -- I'm reminding the body in Israel that we play a part in the covenant! We're not only reminding ourselves of the body that was broken for us -- but we are renewing our loyalty to the Lord -- we're renewing our marriage vows to the Lord! We're going to strive to live a life of holiness and righteousness -- knowing that it doesn't add to the sacrifice -- but rather it adds the flavor the world so desperately around us needs to see! If the salt have lost your flavor -- then it's worthless and good for nothing! You will never change the world -- or the people around you for the Kingdom! However, if you realize that your holiness and righteousness is not to "gain favor with God" but rather to "gain favor with God and WITH MEN" so that you can change the world around you -- you'll never look down to anyone -- instead -- you'll look at them as God looks at them -- and this will always place us in a position of humility and loving our brothers as ourselves. So when you understand the relationship in the covenant -- then when we live a life of being SALT to the WORLD -- you are seasoning the world for the harvest -- in this way may we be found WORTHY! AS to the meaning of ESCAPE these things. Personally I believe there's a great shaking coming to the world -- insomuch so that if we're not living a life of holiness and righteousness -- then we will find our houses under collapse. However, if we're living a lifestyle of holiness and righteousness -- then I believe we can preserved in the midst of the storms that are coming! Noah was not taken out of the flood -- but preserved through the flood! Shadrach, Meschach and Obednego were not taken out of the fiery furnace -- but preserved through it! As Yeshua said, "I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one." What does it mean in its entirety -- it's a mystery that we will fully understand when that portion of Scripture has been unsealed to us. Until then, may we find ourselves worthy to escape these things!

  8. Yes he is. But he wasn't asked that. He was asked if he had a personal animosity against gays. Many of these spiteful Liberals believe that if you are against gay marriage then you must hate gays. They try to twist these things by claiming that those who are against the homosexual agenda are people who are full of hate. It's disgusting and it's deceitful. Ted Cruz was fed up of being asked the same questions over and over and asked why the Left are obsessed by sex.

  9. let me just say something here. i have been in the shoes of josh's sisters. i know EXACTLY how they felt. i also know that at the time it happened, my 'abuser' was the same age as josh was. oh yes, it was something i didn't get over easily. in fact, i was 30 years old before i confronted him. (never told my parents.) it wasn't until that confrontation that we both found healing. but what happened at that time was something that EVEN THEN i knew was hormones and sexual curiosity. i never hated him for it, even though i didn't deal with it for so many years. my brother NEVER did anything of the sort again. he was deathly afraid at the time that i would tell. i ran from the house barefoot in the snow... just as my parents were pulling into the driveway. i made up some lame story as to why i was outside and then just pretended it never happened for 20 years. he is not a child molester. he's not a criminal. he's not a threat to any person of any age. he's a good man with a strong relationship with Jesus Christ who did something really dumb, really bad, and really damaging when he was a kid. that thing he did as a kid did not mark him as a predator for life, and no offense davida, but your accusation of josh duggar is a personal affront because it is just as much an accusation against my brother. YOU don't know either man. and such accusations are as venomous as the liberal who exposed this family tragedy to the world. i would trust my brother with my daughters (and would have when they were young) and with my granddaughter. here's what you seem to be missing. a CHILD of 14 years old is just churning with pent up hormones and curiosity that he can find no outlet for. it is an unfortunate fact of life that in a really large percentage of families, this kind of thing happens. those boys grow up into men, their curiosity gets satisfied at some point, and they have no other inclinations towards trying to find out what is underneath a little girl's clothes. they do not grow up predators. they never were predators. just kids who acted on impulse and curiosity because they lacked the self control at that age to not act. and i've never met a teenager with much impulse control in any area. and one last thing. you say nowhere is it reported that he received any treatment. not true. i've been searching the net half the night for more information and in a number of places i've read that he received counseling. the church was immediately made aware of and became involved in the situation. josh was, in fact, REMOVED from the home by his own parents, and sent to live with a christian couple who put him to work helping them build their house. no doubt during that year, that couple worked very closely with him, counseling him, and steering him in the right direction. upon his return to his home, the police were called in and the incident, now more than a year past, was reported. no charges were filed because the cops apparently believed it had been handled sufficiently. but they still gave him a lecture. so before you make accusations, perhaps you should do deeper research. wingnut, you've made all kinds of allegations in this thread that i've not seen written anywhere other than from your own keyboard. allegations that he was 17. allegations that he manually penetrated his sisters. NONE of that is substantiated. and yet you're asking for proof that he was 14? THAT is easy to find. it's everywhere. in every report i've read it occurred 12 years ago. do the math! depending on his birthday, that would put him at either 14 or 15. you can have disdain for the family all you want. you can disagree (as do i) with them having raised their family on television. you even get to have your own opinion as to whether this situation was handled to your satisfaction. what you don't get to do is to go around making allegations that NOBODY else has made, and then demand everybody else show evidence that is already abundantly available. well i guess you "get to do that", because you already have. but it's not right. now please do not quote this post when you respond, either of you. i intend to delete it within the next 12 hours or so. i want it to be read, but i don't want it to remain up.

  10. I think Satan is smiling right now. There is a huge fire storm about this on Facebook. People are bashing Christianity left and right. I have never seen it this bad before. What Josh did was terrible and wrong and I pray for those girls and for everyone involved. I also pray that there was true repentance. The Lord forgives all sins great and small... as long as he really did come to Christ and become born again.

  11. Luke 22:36b means every believer should obtain the sword of the Holy Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17, Hebrews 4:12). The "two swords" which are enough for all believers (Luke 22:38) represent the 2 parts of God's Word: the Old Testament and the New Testament. Luke 22:36b can't mean every believer should obtain a physical weapon, for otherwise 2 physical weapons wouldn't have been enough for all the apostles (Luke 22:38). And Luke 22:36b can't mean any believer should obtain a physical weapon to attack other people with, even in self-defense. For believers are elsewhere commanded not to defend themselves when they are attacked, but to turn the other cheek (Matthew 5:39). For those who take up a physical weapon to attack other people, even in self-defense, will perish by a weapon (Matthew 26:52). I see you've conveniently edited my comment and missed out the bits about Christendom defending itself and defending others throughout history. You've also misunderstood scripture. Jesus did not tell Peter to get rid of his sword, only to put it away. He must have known that Peter carried a sword (many Jewish men at the time did), but never before had he told him to get rid of it. If he wanted him to why didn't he tell him to get rid of it when he first met him? Why wait until he had lashed out in anger to tell him to put it away? Peter was rebuked for lashing out. He used his anger to try and solve a problem that could not be solved that way. The expression 'those who live by the sword die by the sword' means that those who use violence to solve all their problems will face death by violence. This has absolutely nothing to do with self-defense. You're also confusing the phrase 'turn the other cheek'. The phrase applies to interpersonal relationships and not to 'justifiable war'. It means that you should not attack in revenge because there is no point in it. You can't undo what has been done, so don't try to lash out in anger - it does not mean that you can't defend yourself. You are foolish if you believe that Christians can't defend themselves. If everybody was like you, the word of the Lord would have disappeared from this World a long time ago because it would not have been protected. Cowardice and passivity protects nothing. Don't forget the Old Testament and how God sent the Jews to war. In case you had forgotten, the God of the Jews is the same God as the God of the Christians!

  12. They didn't have to do anything. Josh should have come clean, he did not tell the FRC about it. The sisters didn't need to be brought into it, juvenile records are sealed, there didn't need to be a witch hunt. If you have something official stating he was 14 or 15 then what does that change exactly? I am not saying the guy doesn't deserve grace and forgiveness, but I am not going to excuse something this serious either. I hope the money was worth it, because what has happened from not being upfront, they have to relive it again. How thoughtful is that for the victims? It just doesn't appear to me that anyone was thinking at all.

  14. He was 17 when he did this as far as anything I have seen officially on this. Now what I do is put myself back at 17, and the thought never even entered my mind to do that. I'm sorry, but here in Michigan if you urinate in public you are a registered sex offender. That means you can't get a job around children, no church that does a background check is going to allow you to work in the nursery or youth ministry. I am simply talking about something not all that complicated, it was a poor decision to put yourself under a microscope with that kind of history. Had this been introduced on the show from the start, then I have nothing to question. What I see in silence is guilt, shame, and I think this is probably the best thing for Josh. Why should a believer be ashamed of something forgiven them? Don't our testimonies show His strength, where He brought us from to where we are now? Isn't that what showing fruits is all about? I don't have anything against this family, the family didn't do it, he did. Putting yourself in the spotlight of national attention, you have to not think of just yourselves, but of whom you represent. Not to mention, the alleged victims are his younger siblings according to what I have seen. I haven't seen one official document regarding juvenile proceedings, so I am not sure why others believe there are. Here juvenile records are sealed, maybe it is not the same in other places, so I have to wonder how anyone could know about records. What you can find out, is if they exist, or if there is no file on the matter. The bottom line, I am praying for that family, what an awful place they all find themselves in right now. I am also praying for Josh, that regardless of anything else, he grows in his relationship with the Lord through this time. I never implied these are bad people, or that they are bad parents, in a family that large, it is not surprising that at least one of them has done something wrong.

  15. Sheya, You are to be commended, since the number of Christian women who wear a head covering during worship are relatively few. The teaching on head coverings is really the teaching on Headship, which few Christians understand, and few pastors and teachers understand or teach. And even fewer are the ones who believe that the angels observe this things.

  16. Jeff had nothing to do with it, It was Jeff who prayed, he had everything to do with choosing to pray for the protection of his house, but not for his neighbors. At least, that is how I see it! I am not saying he did anything wrong, I just think he could have been considerate that way. Of course, it is possible that he knew that it was God's will not to spare his neighbors homes, but you and I do not know that, all we can do is observe from a distance.

  17. Corrie Ten Boom referred to this this way: "There are some among us teaching there will be no tribulation, that the Christians will be able to escape all this. These are the false teachers that Jesus was warning us to expect in the latter days. Most of them have little knowledge of what is already going on across the world. I have been in countries where the saints are already suffering terrible persecution. In China, the Christians were told, "Don't worry, before the tribulation comes you will be translated – raptured." Then came a terrible persecution. Millions of Christians were tortured to death. Later I heard a Bishop from China say, sadly, "We have failed. We should have made the people strong for persecution, rather than telling them Jesus would come first. Tell the people how to be strong in times of persecution, how to stand when the tribulation comes, – to stand and not faint." I feel I have a divine mandate to go and tell the people of this world that it is possible to be strong in the Lord Jesus Christ. We are in training for the tribulation, but more than sixty percent of the Body of Christ across the world has already entered into the tribulation. There is no way to escape it. We are next. James said: 2Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. Jesus said: 10“Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12“Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. and . . . If you want to follow this theme, read Matthew 10! Paul said: 10Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance, 11persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord rescued me! 12Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. So, all I will add to these things is: Cheer up saints, it is going to get worse! - Omegaman 3.0

  20. There is no correspondence between Mt 24:31 and 1 Thess 4:13-18. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Angels vs voice of the Archangel He shall send vs the Lord Himself shall descend No shout vs with a shout A trumpet vs the trump of God The four winds vs in the clouds His elect vs we (the Church) The "elect" in Mt 24:31 are the believing remnant of Israel at the Second Coming of Christ, long after the Rapture (Rom 11:5).

  24. Honestly Butero, I never said Worthy Boards was based on it -- it was Worthy News -- and this is an offshoot of the original site and how the news organization got its original name. The idea of being found "worthy" is something that I believe most Christians in the States don't take to heart -- if they did, then we wouldn't be seeing the rapid moral decay as fast as we're seeing it -- and thus is a country ripe for judgment! If we strive for holiness and righteousness -- then we're striving for perfection -- this is the mark of a mature believer. As Paul so stated, Php 3:12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Php 3:13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, Php 3:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Php 3:15 Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. The idea of being "worthy" is connected to maturity, and this is our hope -- to create mature believers! As far as "escaping" -- and what that entails -- I just know I want to be "found" worthy -- if so, then I don't have to try and figure out what I'm escaping from!

  25. angels4u, If you are quoting this to nullify what is taught in Acts 15, then you would be saying that God contradicts Himself. Since you have made no comment, it could also mean that you are using this passage to support what is taught in Acts 15. In fact, it does support Acts 15, since Hebrew Christians would obey these commandments and Gentile Christians were to follow suit. So kindly clarify your reason for this quotation.

  26. James never did that. You mis-understand. Correct. It was the Judaizers throughout the Roman Empire who were insisting that observing the Law of Moses was necessary for salvation (along with faith in Christ). What James and the other apostles did was to seek the mind of God in this matter. Therefore God the Holy Spirit directed them to give Gentiles just four commandments (which mostly go back to the time of Noah) as noted in Acts 15: 1. Eat no meats offered to idols. 2. Eat no meats of strangulated animals. 3. Do not consume the blood of animals. 4. Do not practice fornication. Since this thread is about the importance of Truth, this truth must be recognized by Christians today. To label this as "cherry-picking" is to ignore the fact the God gave these commands through the apostles.

  27. Title of the website aside, which has already been explained to you. Worthy.. no we are not worthy in the sense that we can walk up to the throne of God and say 'I deserve heaven, your attention and salvation' But are we worth something.. you bet we are, so much so that not only did Christ die for us, but he wants us the church as his bride !! So while I cannot claim of my own accord any favours from the Lord, I stand with me head held high, a son of the living God, knowing I am loved and valued beyond comparison, and more than words could ever say. I know I am of great worth, as is every single one of my Brothers and Sisters in the Lord. AIP

He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and he hath set the world upon them. 1 Samuel 2:8 ~ Beloved, Welcome~! Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore. Psalms 133 Love, Your Brother Joe

  29. I'm not going to get any up votes for posting this. But what has happened here has given the devil canon fodder through neglect. There are curious issues with this whole thing, including the Gothard tie, and the fact that the cop that gave Josh a stern "talking to" is now serving 56 years for possession of child pornography. If my facts are wrong, I *welcome* correction. But here's what a Breitbart poster offered, regarding Josh's rise to the FRC. Full disclosure: I had never heard of this family before today. But a reality show about a Christian family famous for only it's size? Somebody benefits, and of course it is the family. Here's the post: JDV • 6 hours ago 1 Titus 5-8: “This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you— if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach.” Why must those in positions of authority be above reproach? The condemnation in Romans 2:22-24 of the professed law keepers and people of God points to the reason: “You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law. For, as it is written, ‘The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.’” The “he was young” stance that some have offered when seeking to support those involved should stay in the realm of legal defense rather than be offered as an excuse. This is not a case of excluding people with a sinful past from ever having a place at the table to discuss societal matters. The first issue here is someone in a position of authority lobbying on behalf of a group advocating legislation supporting societal standards of faith and morals, as well as making stands on issues of sexual morality. Given that, the Christian roots and Judeo-Christian worldview of the organization as well as of the person in question and his family (who themselves bear the standard of a Christian household from a visible national platform), the issue shifts to exercising proper care, stewardship, and accountability. Were the person in a position of authority an alcoholic, which some have tried to parallel with this guy’s issue and actions, it would still be improper for such a person to cover up that fact, whether they were living in sobriety now or still engaging in alcohol abuse. The second issue is the cover up, because it should be the organization’s discretion whether to authorize one of the faces of their efforts regarding sexual morality to have a history with multiple molestations. The inconvenience of this reality should have been subordinate to the duties outlined in Scripture that appear to have gone unheeded by this guy as well as his parents. Given their public prominence and the incumbent responsibilities of faith (and the enhanced call for leadership to be above reproach), it should have been recognized that the issue transcended personal and private repentance into the realm of stewardship and leadership (on matters of public moral standards, no less) with its enhanced call to be above reproach. One would think that name recognition didn’t hurt this guy’s getting his position within this highly visible advocacy organization, so both he and his parents should have known that said recognition would work two ways, in this case to the detriment of the cause and the faith if the documented reality of what this guy had done became public. Consequently, whatever positive association they hoped to ascribe to a lifestyle with Christian values is now in jeopardy for many, especially as it empowers the "I told you so's" who seek to equate Christians with hypocrisy. The time is now for organizations in the public square advocating legislation based on Judeo-Christian values to prioritize the admonition from Titus 1 to the forefront. Offering the “we’re all sinners” reply when instances such as this one surfaces serves no one, and is unacceptable given the consequences (Romans 2). Sure, accountability is harder than the de facto mode of man, as many can’t be bothered with employing an ounce of prevention in the first place, let alone stepping on toes and egos in order to uphold standards. But if you appear no different from the world whose fallen state you bemoan (or worse, appear hypocritical), how will you do anything but harm the declared cause? It’s one thing to advocate on behalf of an organization for moral standards to which you aspire while admitting and disclosing that you haven’t always met them perfectly. It’s quite another to do that from a position of leadership yet have been involved with activity that every corner of society denounces (especially something that involved violating the rights of others) but choose not to disclose that and thus prevent your organization or anyone else from properly determining your fitness for the position.

  33. Maybe the idea comes from verses like this: "I thank God The Father, who made us worthy for a part of the inheritance of the Saints in the light; 13And he has saved us from the power of darkness and brought us into The Kingdom of his Beloved Son;14He in whom we have salvation and the forgiveness of sins;" Col 1:12 or maybe the site, is worthy of your participation Welcome to Worthy

  35. How true we go to hell because we are sinners and the only way to avoid hell is to accept Jesus sacrifice...payment for our sin.unless we do we choose hell...God desires that NONE should perish ...the life boat is there the choice to get in is ours.

  36. Life is a beautiful gift from God. What we do with it is our choice. The ability to have a choice is also a beautiful gift. Keep in mind, through His Love, He allows us to make our own choices to either follow Him or not. That choice determines if we spend eternity with God and all He has to offer or away from God and all He has to offer. This is our choice. To choose be with God, one also has to accept the means to accomplish this. There is only one way to live eternally with Him, not two or many. As His time draws nearer, more and more people no longer want to be held accountable for their actions. They try their best to find a cop-out, an excuse for why they should not be held accountable for their actions. They don't accept that there is one absolute truth in this life, that God is real and what He tells us will happen. Instead, they make up their own rules (free will) and expects God to accept and bow to their choices. It is so sad to see people like this, wanting what they think is the best in life, yet ignoring the only way to achieve this goal.

  37. Why do people deserve to go to hell? If hell is so bad and its about free will to choose god should you have the free will to choose not to be born because of the chance you could end up in hell? It sounds like not being born is a better option than hell yet there is no free will in that.

  38. It's the same thing though Bo - he's just saying it in a different way. We go to Hell because we're sinners and not because we don't believe in Jesus. Not believing in Jesus doesn't send you to Hell, you're going to Hell anyway because you're a sinner. You deserve to go there because you're a sinner. But believing in Jesus stops you going to Hell. See what I mean? I do not believe that Oak.I believe that a person goes to hell only because they do not believe in Jesus Christ. We are all sinners. We all deserve hell but because we believe in Jesus Christ we repent of our sins and we are saved.

  40. The will of the unsaved is to reject salvation through Jesus Christ and remain in sin; God will honor that decision, and its consequences, for eternity. Read more:http://www.gotquestions.org/eternity-hell-just.html#ixzz3aj5DM8IJ

  41. Oak I disagree. It sounds to me like Frank Turek is saying that we go to hell because we are sinners not because a person does not believe in Jesus Christ.I think we are all sinners. We sin everyday and we do not even realize that we do.We ask forgiveness of these sins daily and we are covered under the blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross. I believe that a person goes to hell because they do not believe in Jesus Christ John 3:16. 10 sins that often slip by as “OK” in our daily life: 1. Holding grudges 2. Justifying wrong attitudes 3. Putting your desires first (before God) 4. Feeling annoyed over the success of others 5. Getting hurt easily and reacting out of the hurt 6. Underpaying (taking advantage of others’ work) 7. Skimping on the work you are being paid to do 8. Criticizing and finding fault — secretly or outwardly 9. Focusing on the cares of the world — meaning putting your full attention and trust in the “things” of the world, like money, power, possessions, etc. When we put our full focus on them and allow them to define us, we lose focus of who we are in Christ. This doesn’t mean not caring about what happens in the world. 10. Gossiping or speaking unkindly of those not present “Sin” is any thought, word, or action that is contrary to the character or law of God. We all sin (Romans 3:23), and even what we consider good deeds are often tainted by selfish motives or pride (Isaiah 64:6). Left to ourselves, it is impossible to please God or to be completely free from sin (Romans 3:10;Ecclesiastes 7:10). Read more:http://www.gotquestions.org/do-Christians-sin.html#ixzz3aj2eEK00

  42. Do you really believe that? Here is the reason they are afraid. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? They fear because God is now made manifest. If the people were afraid because some man they trusted could not save them then the scripture would have recorded that statement. What scripture did record is the people asking the mountains to fall on them and hide them from the wrath that is about to come.
