  1. Perhaps depending on your definition of "controls all", how many SCRIPTURES (verses, in context, validly) state clearly that YHWH does control all ? (especially in particular that everything is orchestrated by Him, He makes ALL THINGS(everything both good and bad) work together and clearly for the GOOD of those who Love God and who are called according to HIS PURPOSE)

  4. I Think Dear David Teaches Us The Truth David noticed that his attendants were whispering among themselves, and he realized the child was dead. “Is the child dead?” he asked. “Yes,” they replied, “he is dead.” Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed, put on lotions and changed his clothes, he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and at his request they served him food, and he ate. His attendants asked him, “Why are you acting this way? While the child was alive, you fasted and wept, but now that the child is dead, you get up and eat!” He answered, “While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept. I thought, ‘Who knows? The Lord may be gracious to me and let the child live.’ But now that he is dead, why should I go on fasting? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me.” 2 Samuel 12:19-23 (New International Version) And If One Really Knows Jesus For I delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice, And in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings. Hosea 6:6 (New American Standard Bible) He Too Would Believe But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said to them, "Allow the little children to come to me. Do not forbid them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Mark 10:14 (New Heart English Bible) ~ Be Blessed Beloved Of The KING The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. Numbers 6:24-27 (King James Bible) Love, Your Brother Joe ~ Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. Psalms 119:160 (King James Bible) The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword and the Christian’s charter. Here too, Heaven is opened and the gates of Hell disclosed. Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, rewards the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents. From The Inside Of My Gideon New Testament

  5. David (beloved in Hebrew) loved God. He trusted God (as much as a human is able). Remember the times he tried to fix things himself. A human frailty depending on ourselves for anything... really. He believed God. At times he fled from God as do we all. But when push came to shove he was on his face before the Eternal Majesty. I find most puzzles are solved when I think long enough on the implications of everything having to be our choice in this life... and that this life is a proving ground between the two eternal destinies. This life is the most hell a believer in Jesus Christ will ever know. It's also at the same time the most heaven an unbeliever will ever know.

  6. Guess it depends on what is meant by questioning God? Isaiah 1 tells of reasoning with God. Job 2 tells us of accepting bad as well as good from God and who are we to question His authority. God has indeed foreknown and predestined those that are His. To question, are we his, might be a really wise thing to do, but to question God as to His authority, might lead to many a hard lesson for one to learn; or worse yet to suffer for having tried to deny God His sovereignty. It is best to start with a healthy fear and respect of His total sovereignty. Wish I had much sooner than I did.

  7. Ephesians 2:8–10 (NIV84) 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Belief. Faith.

  9. Another argument against being a Sabbatarian is that we no longer need one singular person to teach us. We have Holy Bible available in every format, and we can access a plethora of teachers and preachers online and via TV rather than listen to one person alone at the pulpit. The only aspect of Sabbath that cannot be replicated with greater effectiveness by technology is the gathering part, "And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near." (Hebrews 10:25). Skype and other methods cannot really replicate being in person with other brothers and sisters in Christ.

  10. All reject God, all. It is only by the grace and the mercy of God, that any are saved, for all deserve the just price of sin against God which is death. So do not seek what is deserved! Instead appreciate the mercy of God that has washed many white is snow. Isaiah 1

  11. Heaven. They return to the Father from whence their soul was given them. Their flesh returns to the earth from whence it sprang in the beginning. They are pure and unblemished because the son /daughter does not inherit the sins of their father/mother. As scripture in the Old Testament tells us. Therefore, the born by God's will do not inherit the sin of the first mother and father of us all at birth. When those newborns die, that innocent child dies, they are sinless having not yet reached the age of accountability. That time when they consciously know right from wrong and the consequences . And make a conscious choice to obey or disobey. Which is not in the purview of a newborn baby nor a child. We must become like children our Lord Christ said, in order to enter the kingdom of Heaven. Innocent, trusting, without guile. What would it mean then if a child could enter Hell when they die? Or a newborn baby? What would Jesus have meant when he did not include that in his parable? It means Hell is not an option for newborns nor children.

  14. I totally agree! And that is also why infant baptism is a total waste of time. Infant baptism is not taught in Scripture. There is not one word that mentions any such thing. On the contrary, it is clear from Scripture that baptism is only after men have repented and have been born again by the Spirit of God. Infants are not lost due to the fact that they are not old enough to be responsible for any sins and therefore could not repent of known sins. They cannot be fit candidates for water baptism which is a symbol of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and a testimony to the world that the individual has been saved from a life of sin and that he is walking in newness of life. Only personal disciples and followers of Jesus Christ were commanded to be baptised (Matt. 28:19-20; Mark. 38:19-20; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2: 38-39).

  17. Salvation is simple: "If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved." (Romans 10:9-10). "For it is my Father's will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day." (John 6:40) "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) "Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!" (Romans 5:8) "and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." (Romans 3:24) Believe and confess. Simple, even a child can understand it, "And he said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 18:3). I say KISS: Keep It Simple Saints.

But before I start going Jonathan Edwards on people (Sinners in the Hands of Angry God Hell Sermon), I want to make sure they know God desires all come to repentance and are saved (2 Peter 3:9, 1 Timothy 2:4).

  25. I would assume that is true, but have no figures to support it. I do not really care what group is doing it or why, rape is rape. We as a country do have not have any moral high ground for pointing to such things as a problem in other countries.

  33. There is something in our culture that makes it such a prevalent part of our society, otherwise it would not be so. No, we are not "pro-rape" but we still many times blame the victim or whitewash the severity of the crime. We turn a blindeye to sexim and sexual harassment which leads to a culture of people thinking that rape is ok, or that what they are doing is not really rape.

  34. http://www.businessinsider.com/lawsuit-accuses-baylor-football-program-rape-2017-1 The report says the bombshell lawsuit details a "culture of sexual violence" in the football program, alleging the school used a "show 'em a good time" policy to recruit players. The lawsuit alleges that 31 football players committed "52 acts of rape," including five gang rapes, between 2011 and 2014.

  35. What then is the explanation then for why rape is such a prevalent part of our society? Why is it that more than 20% of the women in our country have been raped if it is not a part of our culture?

  36. Yes it does. We have no moral high ground in this area, at all.

  37. Well, one of us is being dishonest. Either I made up the fact that we are in the top 15 per capita for rapes in all the world and that a judge gave a rapist a 45 day sentence and that the people in power during the Bayor rape episodes have all pretty much found new jobs at other universities doing the same thing they were at Baylor. So, either I made all those things up or you are wrong in telling me they are false. Which is it?

  38. Saying facts are false is not an opinion, it is an accusation.

  39. But it is part of our culture, that is what you are missing. There is something about our culture that makes people think it is ok to rape a woman behind a dumpster, and for someone to record it while it it happening. And it is something about our culture that makes the judge give the rapist 3 months in prison. It is something about our culture that makes a judge give a rapist 45 days because the girl was not a virgin prior to the rape. There is something about our culture that allows a major university use rape as a recruiting tool, and for those in charge while it was happening to all have jobs at other schools. There is something about our culture that makes people think it is ok to gang rape someone and post the video on social media. In our culture a trilogy about a man who likes to hurt women for sexual gratification set all sorts of records in sales and for a movie about the same thing to make more than 160 million dollars at the box office. Do not tell me it is not a part of our culture.

  41. Hi JohnD, Yes we certainly do over here. Thus we meet with friends in different settings. Sometimes fellowship, sometimes study, sometimes prayer, sometimes a group and sometimes a couple, etc. The main reason for me was that I was putting my energy into a meeting, (I have CFS) and realised that I would rather spend the small amount of energy and time I had, in discipling others. I have never regretted my decision. These disciples are now discipling others who are then discipling others. Thus it is only a small group that each prays for, guides, as asked, helps in times of need, etc etc. Real people in real life situations. A big step for some I realise, and we still have friends who go to man`s organised meetings. Did you realise that the format of our meetings only came about a few hundred years ago. It is a lecture type situation and because public, has control by those in power. The message is usually a general type to make people feel better, nothing too heavy or controversial. So yes I know exactly how you feel. Marilyn.

  42. Old “The day is coming,” says the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. This covenant will not be like the one I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand and brought them out of the land of Egypt. They broke that covenant, though I loved them as a husband loves his wife,” says the Lord. “But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day,” says the Lord. “I will put my instructions deep within them, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their relatives, saying, ‘You should know the Lord.’ For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will know me already,” says the Lord. “And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.” Jeremiah 31:31-34 (New Living Translation) New For he finds fault with them when he says:“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. For they did not continue in my covenant, and so I showed no concern for them, declares the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.” In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. Hebrews 8:8-13 (English Standard Version) Peek-A-Boo Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. 44. Why cant we all just be friends? Because the whole spirit of ecumenism is about finding "common ground" in spite of what are often gross theological differences and that is something which one cannot do. You often see this in churches who allow Islamics into their midst. Ecumenism is not of God it is of Satan I should add you aren't being a very good "friend" to a Catholic, Muslim, Mormon, Jew, or whatever if you do not rebuke them first and teach them the truth.

  45. I think this derives from a misunderstanding of discernment. We end up equating discernment with criticism. At times discerning circles do move into a critical mode but the heart of discernment is being able to stand firm. The armor in Ephesians 6. Stand firm. The radical in this life is the Christian. Everything in this world is built on an anti christ worldly perspective. If it were not for the living God reaching out to humanity, evil would rule and we would smell blood every day until our own is shed. Think about it. All religion has it's roots in Babel. All of it. God called Abraham and Abraham believed. It's the distinction that makes all the difference. This isn't some past time of thought and philosophy on having a good life until we die. It's pure and true from a holy and loving creator who will return and put all things right. "The beginning of wisdom is the fear of God." That's what's at the heart of discernment. A mixture is no good. "May your love abound more and more in real knowledge and all discernment." Phil. 1:9. Jude speaks of hating the garment spotted with the flesh right in the context of love, it's about love, and yes we all get carried away at times but I really believe most of us desire to speak these things in love. Difficult task on a message board but we keep trying.

  47. In all the bible I never remember children and their return being mentioned, BUT, I do know that no dead child will return only to enter heaven (John 3:5), because all humans are first born of flesh, and later born of spirit, so this honor is reserved for the tried and true of the aged (sifted wheat and all that). However, with god being the all loving being that he is, it might seem plausible for them to be brought back to life.

  48. It says in the Word that believers were first called Christians at Antioch. It also says to be ready with an answer for anyone who asks about the hope we have. Sometimes I can tell if someone believes but I try not to do the whole "well you don't even believe." Because if they don't and claim they do God will show that to them.
