  1. Had a really good sermon last night from my pastor. It was aimed at Christians and based on Paul's statement in Philippians 3 about striving towards the "high calling of God in Christ Jesus". He said some profound things. [1] Much of the church has set the bar for "Christianity" so low that most think, "Why bother?". [2] And others have taken that low bar and made it some kind of impossible thing and...adding my words here - balk/whine like infants at it. [3] Walking down a carpet in the sanctuary and shaking the pastor's hand is not a high calling. [4] Signing a commitment form is not a high calling. I'll continue in that vein and say this on my own. [1] Sitting on the same pew every week as if your rear end has a special right to that pew is not a high calling. [2] Reading your Bible/praying once a week for five minutes is not a high calling. [3] Saying, "I'll put you on my prayer list" and not doing anything is not a high calling. [4] Dropping off rat-eaten books and non-functioning pianos and no longer functional clothing, toys, furniture, and more to the local thrift shop or the church is NOT a high calling. So what is that high calling? I studied that this morning. I like to look up the meanings of words in Hebrew and Greek - in this case it being in Greek. In Greek a calling is literally an "invitation". Our call, first of all to be Christians is to be saved in the first place. God draws. He calls. He invites. He initiates. We respond. Secondly, in my mind, - thinking how Paul was talking about the calling in Philippians 3 - God draws, calls, invites, and initiates for us a life's work for his glory. And that calling is to be "high". I looked up that word, too. In Greek, it's literally - "upwards to heaven .... to the brim of something." It's the same word - literally - that Jesus used when he said "fill the water pots to the brim" when he turned the water into wine. And when it was said that he "lifted up" his eyes and said to the Father, "Thank you for hearing me" as he began to raise Lazarus from the dead. And it's also the same exact word that Paul used when he said, "Set your eyes on "things above" and not earthly things." We, like Paul, and every other Christian who has lived and who will live, has a high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Last night really convicted me that I am NOT pressing on towards that "high calling". I do not read the Bible enough or pray enough or tend to the needs of others enough or allow God to fill me to the "brim" with his plans for me. I can be a lazy Christian. I think there are others out there, too. We need to live our lives filled "to the brim" with that invitational work that God has for us to do. A life well lived for Christ - that's what we need to be about .... .....because fussing about church music, the color of the carpet, who's bringing the chocolate cake to the fifth Sunday singing, and all the other incidentals we puff up and make mountains out of .... ....there aren't ANY of those molehills that will EVER be tall enough to be considered God's high calling. Not a single one. What's your high calling? I can't answer that. But God can.

  2. II Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? I would say you made the correct decision. When a believer gets into a relationship with a non-believer there will always be problems. You will both end up trying to persuade the other to change their religious preference, and this will lead to conflict. Relationships are hard enough without extra baggage. What kind of wedding would it be? How would your children be raised? etc. God bless

  4. I'm no judging them, I'm stating a fact. New born babies have no idea of what is happening when water is sprinkled on their foreheads, which is not a true baptism. True baptism is being fully immersed in water. How does one begin to train our children in the way they should travel in righteousness, before they can even speak one word? Infant baptism is not taught in Scripture. There is not one word that mentions any such thing. On the contrary, it is clear from Scripture that baptism is only after men have repented and have been born again by the Spirit of God. Infants are not lost due to the fact that they are not old enough to be responsible for any sins and therefore could not repent of known sins. They cannot be fit candidates for water baptism which is a symbol of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and a testimony to the world that the individual has been saved from a life of sin and that he is walking in newness of life. Only personal disciples and followers of Jesus Christ were commanded to be baptised (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2: 38-39).

  7. I need prayer again. Any of you who have been reading my posts may know I'm all alone. I have no real family to speak of. I have 1 cousin but she lives in Florida and she's just as broke as me. Meaning I can't go there and she can't come here. All we can do is text each other. 20 years ago I had some friends and a day never went by that at least 1 didn't call me. I was a great listener and women always called me for 1 thing or another. I was fine with this. I was a helper. But 20 yrs ago it all changed. Now I'm alone with very poor health. I had to stop working and go on disability. 6 weeks ago I had a dream about a girl I knew in the late 1980's. I thought maybe this was a message from the Lord. It wasn't easy but I found her online. I left messages at whatever phone numbers I could find and last Sat she called me. We spoke 2 hrs and it seemed to go well. We exchanged email addresses and I sent her a quick email to say how glad I was to hear from her. She never emailed me back and I went into 1 of my depressions. I guess the dream wasn't a message from God. Please just pray for me. I can't take being all alone all the time but what can I do. Nothing I try ever works and God doesn't want me yet.

  8. Traditions can at times become distractions or worse. As a small child a Catholic church, I remember the priest walking through the aisle waving a lantern with incense, church members being told to light a candle in front of statues to accomplish something, and more. The rituals and traditions seemed to take up more time than anything else. The catechism classes were similar and based on learning repeated chants. Questions were discouraged. All that is one of several reasons I left organized religion for more than ten years. When traditions are first and the lessons in the bible are secondary (at best), something isn't right.

  9. There is great meaning in this verse along with what Jesus, the Son of God says in Joh 5:19 Jesus told them, "Truly, I tell all of you with certainty, the Son can do nothing on his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing, What the Father does, the Son does likewise. Joh 5:20 The Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing, and he will show him even greater actions than these, so that you may be amazed. How is it that the Son (Jesus) "sees" what the Father does? 1 Corinthians 2:11-14 in the above quote gives us a clear indication. It is through the Holy Spirit that knows the things of God. Without the Holy Spirit we cannot know the things (Father) of God. Like a son comes out from the father physically it happens the same way spiritually. Spiritual truth and direction come out of the Father and are revealed by the Holy Spirit to the Son, most well known to us in that of Jesus. (waaaait for it.....) As verse 14 above states someone that has not accepted what the Christ has done, and therefore has not received the Holy Spirit, cannot work as Jesus did because they cannot know (see) what the Father does (desires). They remain natural and are not sons of, children of, God, because they do not have Gods Holy Spirit in them. When we receive the Holy Spirit, we become sons of God (gender does not apply here) and we can then do Gods will on earth as it is in heaven. We are all God's creation but we are not all God's spiritual children.

  11. The "crux" of the matter as mentioned by two others. Babies go to heaven! King David is now in heaven with his firstborn that died. The same applies to ALL babies, born that die after a short time, or murdered in the womb by the sin of abortion: 2Samual 12:23 But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me. "Knower" Standing in with those three questions presented by Omega and wondering the same, Quote: "How about you, Knower? Are you aware of your sinfulness? Have you sought forgiveness from God, through His Son, Jesus Christ?" Repent, and believe on the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and Him alone for the forgiveness of your sins! Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. Romans 10:8-13 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; (9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (11) For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. (12) For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. (13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary: (in part) Repent 1. To feel pain, sorrow or regret for something done or spoken; as, to repent that we have lost much time in idleness or sensual pleasure; to repent that we have injured or wounded the feelings of a friend. A person repents only of what he himself has done or said. 2. To express sorrow for something past. Enobarbus did before thy face repent. 3. To change the mind in consequence of the inconvenience or injury done by past conduct. Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return. Exo 13. 4. Applied to the Supreme Being, to change the course of providential dealings. Gen 6. Psa 106. 5. In theology, to sorrow or be pained for sin, as a violation of God's holy law, a dishonor to his character and government, and the foulest ingratitude to a Being of infinite benevolence. Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 13. Acts 3.

  12. There is not one word that forbids baptism of infants. And a parents teaching of their children begins the day they are born. They teach them how to love by showing them love. They teach them patience by the example of patience. They teach them all manner of things by example. A child being baptized as an infant is not contrary to God's word. And a child that was baptized as an infant can always choose to receive baptism again when they're older . Meanwhile, they've been raised in the faith of Christ and by example of righteous parents they are carried on their way to that stage where they can make their own choices.

  13. Wait Dear friends, don't ignore this fact: One day with the Lord is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day. The Lord isn't slow to do what he promised, as some people think. Rather, he is patient for your sake. He doesn't want to destroy anyone but wants all people to have an opportunity to turn to him and change the way they think and act. The day of the Lord will come like a thief. On that day heaven will pass away with a roaring sound. Everything that makes up the universe will burn and be destroyed. The earth and everything that people have done on it will be exposed. 2 Peter 3:8-10 (GOD'S WORD® Translation) Wait For It Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord. Instead, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.” Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good. Romans 12:17-21 (New Living Translation) ~ Be Blessed Beloved Daughter Of The KING The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. 16. Biblically speaking, the word of God says those in Christ are able to call themselves the son's and daughter's of God. However, with respect to humanity, I would say yes, we are God's children as a whole. Because all souls come from God. And being he is the only God, none besides him, and Satan cannot create anything like unto God , all souls would then be from God.

  18. 1 hour ago, Willa said: So he makes us to sin? I think not. Christianity doesn't believe in fate--that every detail is foreordained and we are helpless pawns. God has foreknowledge and foreordains some things as a result of that. Having foreknowledge of the fall in the Garden He foreordained the Word being made flesh and dying for the world that believers might be saved through Him. I'm trying to understand this post. You're saying you disregard what was posted from the book of Isaiah ? Jas 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. Jas 1:14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. I am saying that fatalism is a belief stemming from Roman gods, the Fates, and is not a part of Christianity. Some people believe that they have no control over their destiny and are resigned to fate having control. I don't believe that God orchestrates us to sin or tempts us in any way. And He has also givien us the ability to resist His grace, as the Jews had done as Stephen accused them as they took up stones to kill him. Every unbeliever has chosen to resist the light and knowledge of God, according to Romans 1. We are accountable for our own sin and our own lack of salvation. We are accountable for choosing not to believe God's holy word, as well. I don't believe we can assist in our salvation in any way. That is a gift. But we are responsible for not receiving Christ. Joh 3:18 "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Joh 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. Joh 3:20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

  23. Hi, Yes I believe I understand the framing of your initial post. I have been addressing in general the subject. BUT, do I personally ask God to be fair? I don't think that would be wise for me at least. I do not want fair, for if I am to get what I deserve I am in major eternal trouble. More than trouble, I am doomed. So fair is not a concern of mine, instead I celebrate in deep appreciation that God is not fair He is perfect, and cannot, will not abide flaw nor sin, period. And yet, He alone has reconciled who He will to Him so that I personally may be certain in my own hope of spending eternity to come with Him, As saint in Jesus the Christ. So fair? No siree, don't give me fair! Nor would I want to demand, nor question of God His fairness with anyone else either. For all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. No one, none are perfect, which is His Holy standard, perfection only. I accept that God will not and in fact cannot abide anything short of perfection for He is Glory itself, perfection. I am in awe that He has solution at hand in Himself to reconcile the issue of my being a sin filled soul and corrupted body, made acceptable in His sight by His sacrifice his paying the deficiency that is me.-by, The Holy Blood of Christ Jesus being shed in my own place. Amazing! So no I will not question God of His fairness, His perfection. I will simply be humble and trembling in my appreciation beyond the capacity of my words that it is so. And how do I know this?- God took special care for me to know, as I was a hardhead, a tough case, a resister of His word, His love, His Holiness. Yet, He turned me about in a near twinkling, a whirl that could only be of God and of God alone. Yes I do have the Holy Spirit, God within me. I see evidence of it in my sucesses and my awful failures. He is within. I get scolded, I suffer, and yet I am lifted to highs beyond any known to me in any other thing of life. May you have joy in our Lord and satisfaction in His Glory, appreciating the awesomeness that leads to questions- can this be, can it be so Glorious that it need not be fair, in fact it can't be. For fair would not be miraculous at all, it would only be adherence to the standard of fallen man in his world of relativity of good versus evil, where man judges if there is enough good to merit out weighing the evil within. God surpasses all that. He totally obliterates it demanding by His nature perfection and then perfecting His own in His sight by the shed blood of Jesus washing the saints white as snow.

We have many different opinions that we love to share with each other and can learn so much from one another, being made aware of things we may have never considered had we not heard others point of view..... This morning I was thinking about someone I know that has just become an ordained minister......she did this online,it took a matter of moments and now has credentials to officially join two people in marriage.......I have heard of Bible College on line but it takes many months of study(Charis for one)....personally as I am very new to the world of computers and don't know anything about this sort of thing, therefore I don't have an opinion I also know someone else that was "ordained"online.....her Pastor wouldn't allow her to preach unless she became an ordained minister(She belongs to a Pentecostal church"COG)....Has anybody heard of these things before? What now?Click here^ to become an ordained minister(ordained by whom?) When I read your definition of an ordained minister my heart really leaped with joy.....we are all ministers of the Good News of the Gospel of Christ Jesus!!!.....Ordained by God?Yes!......But then there are the traditions & doctrines of men that I do respect(not as authorities really)in regards to their sect......I am not sure I am explaining my thoughts very well....Okay,Say for example a person has the gift from God "to teach" and that person is a member of the Baptist(or Methodist,Catholic-whatever)denomination and they wish to go to school to further their studies and they are ordained by their overseers,I do believe that they have displayed their knowledge(literally, academically) & capabilities to their leaders to teach....I do respect their efforts & their position even though I myself am non-denominational...holding fast that we ,as the Body of Christ ,are His Church and we are all ministers but not all gifted(or learned)to "teach"....lol-I still don't think I am explaining my thoughts very well?I think Shiloh said it much better than I.But I do hope it is not an issue to stir up debate,it is only my thoughts on the matter....I do have several, that differ slightly but I don't think I will share that as I am not lead to do so...it mat be emotional & not spiritual...... Brother Paul? You do seem to be a little upset....I don't think Bopeep meant to insult you by asking if you were ordained on line?Unless I missed something along the way?Buy anyway...you always have blessed me in the past by many of your posts, you always speak tenderly and I just don't like to see you upset or Bopeep....I love you guys! 30. An online devotional chaplain with a sense of humor had his dog Enoch ordained for free in the past, ordination paper at link. This is just part of this pet's story. Seems to fit here http://www.dailyencouragement.net/enoch.htm Part of the article below: "One of Enoch’s most remarkable achievements is that he was an ordained minister. Yup, he had his own fancy certificate to prove it. He got it through the mail with some denomination I never heard of out in California. They offered free ordinations. Now for the sake of honesty I must divulge that I did help him a bit with the paperwork. Enoch couldn’t spell very well and that was before they had spell check. He was seven human years at the time and I did convert that to dog years or 49 on the application. In a couple of weeks he got his very own certificate of ordination and even began to get mail addressed to Rev. Enoch Weber. He could have been a doctor through the same outfit but that cost $25.00 and I just couldn’t stand him having more titles than I had."

  38. Beloved, I really don't think I can honestly answer this question because I do not know everyone in this great big world of ours....Do I think it possible that there are modern day apostles,sure-as all things are possible with God,And God is the One that would call one to apostleship...we know the requirements, which are witnessing our resurrected Savior, miracles, signs and wonders(BTW nebula ,that was such accurate and appropriate application of Scripture). Do I think it's probable,no-not really....I believe after the Bible was completed I don't think that signs and wonders were necessary any longer because light and truth in a man is known by the degree he holds to the Scriptures.....if there were really apostles out there today wouldn't at least one of them be clearing out cancer wards or St,Judes Childrens Hospital and so on?Instead we see many false apostles on T.V. "performing"healings in a stadium, blowing on people and they fall down in a trance only to get up babbling gibberish...... As I said,I simply cannot honestly answer this question,I don't know a mans heart,I can't know if what an individual claims to have seen is true and I have not seen anyone work any mighty wonders.....All I can do is pray for discernment, look at the fruit one produces,be responsible that what I am listening to is in alignment with Gods Word and love the Lord with all my heart, all my soul ,all my mind and give Him glory for all the wonderful things He has done for me in the Name that is above all names,Christ Jesus....Halleluliah! 39. Dear Tsukno ....I don't believe anyone is accusing thomas of anything,really.....Its a very simple question and if thomas does not wish to answer it(which it seems he does not) he does not have to....I would not love him any less either way,he is my brother in Christ,he does not seem to be offended as the question was never intended to offend him.......is there something terribly wrong with asking your brethren if they have an agenda? You asked me... I can only speak for myself and I am not confused in the least(since you ask)and I have no hidden agenda.....and why do you demand(or request) anyone must demonstrate anything in the way of having some foreknowledge or experience with Scott Livelys ministry....will there be a quiz after class(lol)? I don't mean to sound sarcastic but here we are discussing freedom of speech and yet 4 people cannot ask a question out of curiosity without your suggesting it's a lynch mob?Kind of silly....thomas has been very polite and isn't in any way defensive(as you are)he even made a joke out of what I said(and I appreciate his making light with humor) I love you as well and I'm not really sure what you are really upset about,if I have offended you in some way then I do apologize.....actually I was not even engaged in any discussion with you- but after all.....you do have freedom of speech and you are free to express your opinion anytime you wish....God bless you With love,in Christ-Kwik

  41. Hi Mcgyver,This is true ,I also live in Fla.and there is that 24hr period & then you must submit the notarized certificate to be documented,I didn't know Bubbas School of Theology also offered a welding course(I might be interested in that!lol) cozmoe,sevenseas,Willow....Y'all are just too funny!God bless you! Fez.-A government test and certification makes alot of sense to legitimize the marriage properly according to law LadyKay...Amen,I wish more people would read Pauls letters to the churches but they don't,too many follow traditions of men I't doesn't concern me about these 5&dime ministers signing off on a marriage certificate or even officiating a ceremony but when they perform a Christian wedding that is supposed to be before the eyes of God,posing as a pastor...thats just me.....what do y'all think? Gee I love you all!Kwik Willow....that is hysterical, just $100 ? You can probably get alot more!

  42. God bless you all, Just so you know,I am not at all interested in ordination or Bible College for myself.....I kinda got the impression that maybe some of you thought I was shopping around....lol..... I am just very interested in your different views is all because I have been hearing so much of it lately. Personally I don't think myself to be anything but a filthy sinner that God has taken through many trials and tribulations(and from the road to destruction) for my good(because He loves me)and to give Him the glory!!Titles are unimportant to me,I just look at the tree for its fruits.......and as for me,I'm just proud to proclaim the Name of Jesus as my Lord and Savior!!!! 43. To God be the glory....I just have to say thank You Father! Joe,that was one of the most beautiful things I have read lately and what a wonderful set of standards that only the Lord could have placed in your heart....thanks Joe,for your obedience in Christ and for listening to that still small voice.....the Holy Spirit does move a great many people on this site,Worthy is truly a blessing....but for those that do not seek the Lord in all things, its best to read and listen......not everyone is called to preach and thats okay, everyone has a purpose in Gods kingdom... Anyway,I really loved the 10 commands and they have been very helpful in my self examination, which I like to do to stay in check......I pray I do not get in the way of the Holy Spirit as my flesh wars against my spirit,I pray I am obedient when He tells me to keep silent and when He tells me to speak.......I ask for your prayer as well and I will pray for you! God bless us all......With love,in Christ-Kwik

  44. Dearest OtherOne, I couldn't have said it any better myself,,,,and I must say I used to practice in the occult ,in witchcraft and have much experience in these matters.....we have zero power or authority that was given back to us,we have zero authority in that realm!.....if for one minute anyone is convinced that they are some kind of mighty warrior then they are being deceived....Someone once told me that if you are not running into the enemy as you go down your path then you are walking on the same side of the street as the enemy, possibly unaware! Don't misunderstand me.....in Christ Jesus we have ALL authority to access the Power of the Holy Spirit (He is the power that works in us)...Better be in right relationship,in step, armored up,in spirit and know that it is the Lord that rebukes them, binds them, casts them out etc... Exactly,I say "exactly"as you say....if the Holy Spirit has not directed you into warfare then you have no business being involved.I found out in a most terrifying way and that is a whole other story for another time......I see people giving the enemy too much credit as the enemy is like a little annoying gnat up against the power of the Holy Spirit and I see people underestimating the powers of demons.....the full armor of God is best and resist the devil and he will flee unless you are assigned warfare...... No demon in hell wants to be around when you are worshipping God.....spend much time on your knees and delight the Lord......we don't choose what we are called to do and not everyone is used for Spiritual Warfare With love,in Christ-Kwik

Wow,sure is scarey.....so what do you think of the Bible Colleges, that sounds like it may be a good thing....I don't know enough about anything on line....I am just shocked that a church Pastor who is in the Church of God organization has permitted this....I do know the young lady and I really don't feel she is ready for the podium........yea cozmoe, reaaal scarey-especially just finding out from Jade that they do not even have to be Christians........How is this permitted?I suppose they are more or less a glorified notary??? Love you guys,Kwik
