  4. Yes, Scripture also teaches that there will be degrees of punishment in Hell as far as remorse and torment of the conscience is concerned (Matt. 10:15; 11:22; 12:41; 23:14; Mark 6:11; 12:40; Luke 10:14; 11:31, 32; 20:47). These degrees of punishment will be because of the kind of sins committed by one that were not committed by another. No man will be punished or could have remorse over something he did not do. They will all regret rebelling against God and man and failing to believe in Jesus, and repenting of sin.

  5. Hi LPSTR, What stood out to me was when you said you live the life that is wrong in the eyes of the Lord - that right there will put a distance and I'm not surprised that you feel nothing. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Some little ways you could start (apart from having a daily morning quiet time with just you and He - reading/contemplating Scripture, prayer that kind of thing), is putting Gods words into action by not letting opportunities pass you by during the day - like to smile and be kind to others, to be ready to help someone or comfort someone, to encourage another person or just sit and listen. These things bring you closer to Him because that's what He asks of us - is to show love to one another. You will notice differences within yourself and your life. I hope this has been helpful

  9. My family unit requires healing. My daughter has become distant as she spends more and more time with a boyfriend who is having a negative influence on her. Instead of being the happy, caring and loving daughter she once was ... she is becoming rude, secretive, selfish and unkind. I love her but I don't particularly like her current attitudes. Her Dad is hurting bad too. I am so very very sad. I don't know what to pray for anymore

  10. Everywhere there are offenses, I'm offended, your offended. I'm tired of all the offenses. Can I choose not to be offended? From Oswald Chambers Utmost: Agree with your adversary quickly… —Matthew 5:25 In this verse, Jesus Christ laid down a very important principle by saying, “Do what you know you must do— now. Do it quickly. If you don’t, an inevitable process will begin to work ‘till you have paid the last penny’ (Matthew 5:26) in pain, agony, and distress.” God’s laws are unchangeable and there is no escape from them. The teachings of Jesus always penetrate right to the heart of our being. Wanting to make sure that my adversary gives me all my rights is a natural thing. But Jesus says that it is a matter of inescapable and eternal importance to me that I pay my adversary what I owe him. From our Lord’s standpoint it doesn’t matter whether I am cheated or not, but what does matter is that I don’t cheat someone else. Am I insisting on having my own rights, or am I paying what I owe from Jesus Christ’s standpoint? Do it quickly— bring yourself to judgment now. In moral and spiritual matters, you must act immediately. If you don’t, the inevitable, relentless process will begin to work. God is determined to have His child as pure, clean, and white as driven snow, and as long as there is disobedience in any point of His teaching, He will allow His Spirit to use whatever process it may take to bring us to obedience. The fact that we insist on proving that we are right is almost always a clear indication that we have some point of disobedience. No wonder the Spirit of God so strongly urges us to stay steadfastly in the light! (see John 3:19-21). “Agree with your adversary quickly….” Have you suddenly reached a certain place in your relationship with someone, only to find that you have anger in your heart? Confess it quickly— make it right before God. Be reconciled to that person— do it now!

  12. Pope Francis has sacked the head of the Vatican office that handles sex abuse cases, just days after he released Australian cardinal George Pell to return home to face charges of historical sexual assault. The developments underscored how the Catholic Church’s sex abuse crisis has caught up with Francis, threatening to tarnish his legacy over a series of questionable appointments, decisions and oversights in his four-year papacy. Francis on Saturday declined to renew the mandate of German Cardinal Gerhard Mueller as prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the Vatican office that processes and evaluates all cases of priests accused of raping or molesting minors. Francis named Mueller’s deputy, Monsignor Luis Ladaria Ferrer, a Spanish Jesuit, to run the powerful office instead. During Mueller’s five-year term, the congregation amassed a 2000-case backlog and came under blistering criticism from Irish abuse survivor Marie Collins, who had been tapped by Francis in 2014 to advise the church on caring for abuse victims and protecting children from paedophile priests. Collins resigned from the papal commission in March, citing the “unacceptable” level of resistance from Mueller’s office to heeding the commission’s proposals. In May, Francis said her criticism of the slow pace in processing abuse cases was justified and announced he was adding more staff to handle the overload. Earlier this year he also named Cardinal Sean O'Malley as a member of the congregation in hopes of ensuring better cooperation. Mueller's ouster was the second major Vatican shake-up this week. On Thursday, Francis granted Cardinal Pell, another Vatican hardliner, a leave of absence to return to Australia to face multiple charges of historical sexual assault. The cardinal has strongly denied the charges. Francis has come under criticism for having named him to the powerful position of the Vatican's money czar in 2014 in the first place, given that accusations of wrongdoing had dogged him even then. Pell has been widely denounced at home for mishandling abuse cases while he was a bishop and of having treated victims harshly in seeking to protect the church from abuse-related civil litigation. Mueller and Pell were two most powerful cardinals in the Vatican, after the Vatican secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin. The week's events could be seen as an attempt by Francis to turn the page, given his legacy has already been sullied by repeated failings to make good on his "zero tolerance" pledge for abuse. http://www.msn.com/en-au/news/world/pope-francis-fires-head-of-child-sexual-abuse-investigations-office/ar-BBDzGCJ?li=AAavLaF&ocid=ientp

  14. The setting in verses 3-7 is all about the man of sin, what holds him and what brings him on. What makes you think the one who hindereth is the holy spirit when the context and antecedent is the man of sin? Christians are implied UP TO verse 3a and that's it. The holy spirit isn't part of this evil in any way. Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3a Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, (parousia) except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. Believers are NOT part of the mystery of iniquity. The passage clearly states that the 'parousia and the gathering' DO NOT TAKE PLACE until there's an apostasy and the man of sin revealed. And by all means, don't apply the church or Christians to any of this. This passage, v.3a-12, is all about the man of sin and his followers.

But yes.. it could be that that took place still. And i understand the part where ppl are now taking matters into their own hands...after all they are getting tired of the increasing attacks from "outsiders" towards them in a place and country they call home.

I can also see how europeans, tired of the lack of support from their govts, are taking matters in to their own hands. Tragic and wrong regardless of motive. It will only get worse if the govts of europe do not do something to protect their citizens and residents.

  20. Great quote! Someone recently accused me of being a demon because I didn't agree with their bigotry. I know God has a message there for something I'm suppose to learn from encountering an atheist so full of hate as to verbally assault someone they know to be a Christian, but at the time, it does upset to anger. If you've ever been bullied or verbally abused, name calling, which is the sign of youth and immaturity and spoiled-rotten demeanor that has no other outlet when their opinion doesn't "get its way" , is surprising to encounter as an adult. Those things you thought you'd left behind when you grew older. And then you encounter some smart mouthed child with poor parenting raising them up and POW! It's nostalgia. Back in Kindergarten when name callers really meant something to your state of being. It all add's up to something the Father wants us to learn. We just have to breathe and step back and look for the thread of meaning. God is a personal God. He knew us before we were created in the womb of our mom's. So he also knows how to reach us through experience. The brat offender that called me demon has something to learn as that atheist so full of hate for Christians. And I have something to learn that an atheist can make me wonder why it is I see them and give one care that they're going to Hell until they choose to change their direction of their own soul. I've worn a lot of hats in my life. Prison guard currently. Maybe that's it. The atheist locked in their own prison cell of hate for redemption and its message? I can't share the keys to free people behind bars now unless the court of man says, OK. But I can share the gospel.

  24. Yes, it does. What a horrible legacy they must defend when they die, especially the popes, and then have to answer to God for what they covered up about child rape. 28. Personal information in some voting districts is already in one place. The Voter Registration office. In my home town the first time I voted they handed me a card because it was the old button machine method. But I thought I placed the card in the machine and the vote was recorded on that. No, that wasn't it. I handed the card to the caretaker at the front of the booth. Every voting booth had such a person posted. Then I went behind the curtain and cast my votes. When I left I walked behind the booth to where the man had put my card. There was a stack of cards. Each card in order of voter appearance. And at the top of the card was our social security numbers. If the vote is anonymous why the SSN? From then on I brought a black magic marker and while walking to my voting booth marked out my SSN. I'd hand it to the attendant upside down. They never seemed to notice. One even smiled after he flipped it over and saw the edit. This country hasn't been on the up and up among the powers that be for a very long time. If ever really.

  29. Greater is He that is within me that he that is in the world. Be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world. Greater is Christ's love in me than the evil that is in them. Overcome evil with good, and do it from a position of God's power. Forgiveness is a choice and love in a choice. I choose to allow Christ to live in me and say Father forgive them, they don't realize what they are doing. And I remember that they may not be reacting to them at all. They may be reacting to Christ in me. So I choose not to take it personally. But should they be reacting to me and the fault lies with me, then I should apologize quickly and continue to pray that I might die so that Christ may be seen in me.

  31. I've lived by a saying for a great number of years. I adopted the saying from being bullied in my school years and it seems to work pretty well. It's borrowed from Eleanor Roosevelt and I don't claim to quote her verbatim. No one can insult me without my permission. I am whatever an adversary thinks I am. Because that is in their eyes through which they see me. And from the moment they see me in an adversarial way, they are the one obligated to have that effect their life from that moment of creation on. I own them. Just by existing as me, while they judge me through their own faults. They can be happy and when they see me they fall from there into that judgment place. And that takes their happiness away. By their choice in the beginning when they labeled me so. I had not a thing to do with this. It was their choice. I am not obligated to believe what other people think of me, criticize about me, or chuck at me with the intention of hurting me with words as they would like with a fist. That had it been thrown would land them in jail. In forums there are those of this nature too. Their words in print are imagined as them speaking them aloud in person. It says a lot, what a Christian says about and to others. Don't you think?

Recruiting the one's dead in their sins, and even misleading the very elect. All as prophesied. 42. Hey Flip, I should've written a book when I was young enough to remember everything. You know how you said God was always in your mind, even if He was in the back of it. I was like that at 5 yrs old. My mother was a devout Catholic Christian who really loved God. My father had this dumb idea that God was only for children and women. So we almost never went to church. In grammar school my best friend was a Jewish kid. So from an early age I wondered who was right, us or them. It's not about that. I'm just trying to impress upon you how God was always in my mind. In spite of that my intelligence made me an atheist from 18 to 28. Actually at 26 I think God decided He had enough with my atheism and He started to change me. Being of God is life long journey and you're only at the beginning of it. I also want to say we are not living in the days of Esau. God deals differently with us now than He did back then. It was hard to be Godly when I was a kid but compared to now it was easy. And yet it certainly didn't seem easy. At least we didn't have porn in our phones and at our fingertips. Porn is a terrible thing, both for us guys and the girls. It ruins lives. It's addictive as bad as any drug. I'm in my 60's and sometimes I still think I want it. But I finally learned to not even look at it. But it's not easy. I think you will be fine. That doesn't mean a life of smooth sailing. You'll probably hit many storms. But always remember that even when you were a kid you loved God. I hope I'm encouraging you because that's what I mean to do. I bet someday you'll be the 60 yr old guy encouraging some other young person. Have you ever tried listening to the Bible in addition to reading it? Try it, especially the dramatized versions. Sometimes when reading the Bible you get confused as to who's saying what. In the dramatized versions different people say the words of the various people who speak. It's almost like watching a movie. Often I open 2 tabs 1 with the actual Bible and the other where it's being read. I can spend hours doing that. It's just another way to keep God on my mind instead of the things of the world. The devil likes to use the Internet against us, but God in His infinite wisdom put it on people's minds to find ways to use the Internet for God. And they did. And you can always come here and someone will encourage you. God Bless.

  45. The greatest caution I have against todays proclamation of this gift of tongues is that it excludes the objective examination of Scripture and rest wholly in the subjective experience of the believer... this being a fact of self evident truth I draw this conclusion: Why would God set forth an objective source -written Word- and say this about it 2 Timothy 3:15 (KJV) [15] And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. [16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. and then bring about a gift that supports an entirely subjective -experiential- verification that it is from Him? I say it doesn't add up in reasoning, which God expects us to do with Him in Scripture, and tends to weigh in on a fleshy level than s/Spiritual one... Love, Steven

  46. It's only given to some people, not to all. We can ask (God likes us to ask for good gifts, after all!), but we can't dictate to the Holy Spirit how He will manifest Himself in our lives. This is why I'm very suspicious of those who claim they can 'teach' someone how to speak in tongues, or prophesy. There's no 'technique' to it. Either we are given the gift, or we aren't.
