  1. Does this surprise you, how humans are turning from God as His time draws near? 2 Timothy 3:1-9 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

  2. It must be very hard and discouraging. To keep going through trials and bad stuff. It can put anyone into depression. But I really hope you don't let it drive you into wrong ideas. Put on the armour of God. Hope is one of the pieces. We always have hope. Even if we are homeless. I know God can make the homeless a home. You have a lot of people praying for you. Take heart and be strong. I know you have more strength and courage then you even know. I pray God lifts you up. You will not be disappointed if you trust him and also walk with him.

  7. I look back over the past dozen years or so, and see many displays of God's nature released on mankind. Insane earthquakes that deviate entire countries. (Haiti) And ocean waves, 50+ feet tall. (There is a name for them), typhoons, hurricanes, etc. In our own country, there was Katrina that blasted mostly New Orleans. New Orleans is something unique. The celibration of Madigra has become totally depraved. The following spring, after the hurricane. The participants in this celibration went well beyond just playful gestures, with very flagrant floats telling God to f... off. There is a weekend that follows Madigra, it is called, "Debaturey weekend", oddly enough, and with almost no notice in the news. A small class 2 hurricane came out of "nowhere" and struck New Orleans on that very weekend. The sin in the world is very great. And when I think of, what the Awful Horror might be. The one thing that comes to mind is Abortion. Certainly, there are plenty of other Awful Horrors. But man's killing of his own kind, for his own pleasure. It is beyond words.

  8. Hello y'all. It's Tongue-In-Cheek-day today. The first day of this week. God is God. God is Good...all the time! Ponderer: considers the posts of others carefully; perhaps adds some words of encouragement or gently posits other views. Postponer: waits until they see which way the wind is blowing, then joins the perceived 'winning' side. Pouncer: immediately pounces on the poor poster and tells them how far they err. Maybe includes some less than kind inferences. WHICH ARE YOU?

My wife was baptized under the USSR and she was a teacher then.Very good sense of humor you have, I mean "a box and a bullhorn". I just imagined how it could end up with a bullhorn here. ..

  10. I used to take this as the standard explanation. I now think it is a "truth by repetition" situation. Many years ago I was helping a colleague study for his pilot's license. He kept asking me questions about stuff like this. At first, I just repeated the standard answers until I realized I really didn't understand how angle of attack, Bernoulli's equation, and simple force diagrams applied to flight. I then realized I could not explain how aircraft can fly upside down. I went back to first principles and finally came up with some reasoning that I was comfortable with. 1. Air is a fluid. It cannot pull outward on anything, it can only push. (Strictly speaking, it can cause shear forces to the side for objects with rough surfaces. But this is really just pushing against the rough projections.) It is the pressure differential of high pressure under the wind and low pressure over the wing that causes a net force upward. 2. Bernoulli's equation does NOT dictate cause and effect. It merely states that high pressure is associated with low air speed and low pressure is associated with high air speed. In some cases, pressure differences can cause air to move. In some cases, air being blown into an object slows down and builds up pressure. Here are a couple crude schematics I just tossed together to illustrate this. In the top case, a fan starts to blow air into an enclosure. The arrows show the air speed and the coloring shows the pressure. When the fan is turned on, the air rushes into the box and is stopped by the far wall. The pressure build up against the back wall stops the air. In the bottom schematic, the fan is turned off. Air then starts to rush out of the box. The higher pressure near the back wall is pushing the air out of the box. Here is how I think of a wing in terms of cause and effect of pressure and air speed. Moving air (from the forward motion of the plane) piles into the bottom surface of the wing (which is angled upward slightly called the angle of attack). Because of the angle of attack, the air is striking the bottom of the wing and producing a region of high pressure where the wing stops the air. This builds up pressure causing the pressure under the wing to be higher than pressure over the wing. The primary effect of the rounded shape of the wing is to reduce turbulence and drag not produce a pressure difference. Now, imagine if the standard "Bernoulli" explanation of cause and effect was correct. What would happens when flaps or ailerons are used? If the "Bernoulli" explanation of air traveling faster and farther causing low pressure was correct, they'd be working backwards. Lowering ailerons would cause the air to have to travel further and faster reducing pressure and causing a wing to drop if an aileron or flap was lowered. But, if the cause is the moving air pushing into them building up pressure, they work as expected. I think it is much more intuitive and accurate to think of air movement pushing against the aircraft wings to figure out what is happening. I think that someone somewhere misapplied cause and effect in the Bernoulli equation and got the cause and effect backwards. Also, if the wing shape causes lift rather than air pushing on the bottom of the wing, the old rubber band wooden airplanes I used to have as a kid would not have worked as well as they did. Those were nothing more than cheap flat stamped wood. Here's an image I found. I recall mine had cheap wires and little plastic wheels for landing gear. It was fun winding them up, setting it on the ground, and then watching it take off. If someone has further info on this, I would be willing to reconsider my position. But thinking about things this way made it easy to answer my friend's questions about various things and he (an engineer) seemed to think that my explanation made a lot more sense than what he was reading and being told.

  19. My point was to share why these false prophets keep getting rapture (caught up) wrong, it happens but not in sequence they think. When people ask questions or call something "Rapture Thoughts," is not all views allowed?: "What do you guys think? Anyone have any thoughts about the details of the rapture?" I am fine with people having belief in Pre-Trib Rapture, I am not in here to debate them. I am offering my thoughts according to Scripture. If there is offense over my words, take it up with the One who wrote Matthew 24:29-31, and 2 Thessalonians 4:16-17, not me. I happen to believe the closest thing to Rapture happens after Jesus appears on clouds according to these passages: "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn (Revelation 1:7), and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory (Revelation 19:11-16). 31 And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." (Matthew 24:29-31). "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever." (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) But I have never berated, or ridiculed someone who believes in a Pre-Trib Rapture. In fact, I hope they are right about missing out on the Trib, believe me I prefer that if it were so, but elsewhere I have shared why I do not hold the Rapturist view (Revelation 13:7, Revelation 14:12, Revelation 7:1-11, and the verses I have shared). I think we should be able to share our different views without being threatened, arguing, and causing offense with each other. I actual recently watched a video End Times, Amazon.com, with Tim Lehaye, and I was fascinated by his thought, "The Tribulation will causes the Jews to confess Jesus at long last."

We can do nothing without Him. "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." - John 15:5 God bless you in Jesus' name! Amen.

  28. While it's true that God sees all sin as SIN, you have a point when you say that the Church or even some Christians may tend to grade some sins more severely than others. But that's on the Church or those Christians. That's not God's plan nor His desire for us to do that. In God's eyes, those afflicted by the sin of LGBT must do the same things as the rest of us afflicted by any other sin: 1. Recognize we are sinners in need of a Savior. 2. Repent of our sins - "Go and sin no more." One of my favorite old sayings: "The ground is level at the foot of the Cross." Blessings, -Ed

  30. Only God can fill that yearning in your heart. He blesses, but He IS YOUR BLESSING. You need what is in His heart more than what comes from His hands. "Seek Ye first, His Kingdom and His righteousness, all these things will be added unto you" (Mt. 6:33). "And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he (Jacob) said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me" (Genesis 32:26). "And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole" (Mark 5: 25-28). Exodus 33:18-23 18 Then [a]Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!”19 And He said, “I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the Lord before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.”20 But He said, “You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!” 21 Then the Lord said, “Behold, there is a place [b]by Me, and you shall stand there on the rock; 22 and it will come about, while My glory is passing by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will take My hand away and you shall see My back, but My face shall not be seen.”

  35. I felt this way as well when I was a new Christian. But I had not surrendered my life completely to God. One day God used me to supply someone else's need before they knew about it themselves. I was there what they opened up the bank notice that they were $50. overdrawn with a $5. penalty. Would you believe that my friend provided the $50. and I had provided the $5? I had never heard of the people before and God had directed me to go to another town and give it to them. I hadn't even given to my church before, let alone to anyone else. But God made me aware that He would take care of me in the same way. Praise God.! I immediately started weeping and surrendered my whole life to Him. I had made such a mess of it I had nothing to lose. So I started taking my problems to Him and finding the solutions in the Bible. No longer was I so concerned about what others thought of me. I was most concerned about God. And He already accepted me because of Jesus' death on the cross for my sins. I was already His child! I was among those whom God loves. And what others thought, even other Christians, didn't count for much because God accepts and loves me. What matters is how much I love and forgive them. Jesus lives in me and He in me loves and forgives them for their being hateful and inconsiderate. He died for them, too. Even Christians can be cliquish and mean when they haven surrendered themselves to God. There but for the grace of God there go I. So He showed me my self righteousness that caused me to be unforgiving and unloving toward them. He showed me that only Christ in me can live the Christian life. So I was to allow His life in me to help me walk in the Spirit. The answer to Romans 7 is in Romans 8. Walk in the Spirit and focus on Christ. He will help you walk on the water like Peter!

  37. You sounded like me several years ago when I thought God hated me and he only does miracles in other people's lives. I thought God was bent on making me suffer while others enjoy themselves. I walked a very rough road for years but now I look back and thank God for the training he gave me. You may feel God has abandoned you and is not answering your prayers but God loves you. You may not understand this now but you are exactly the type of people God is interested in. Isaiah 57:15 nkjv "For thus says the High and Lofty OneWho inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:“I dwell in the high and holy place,With him who has a contrite and humble spirit,To revive the spirit of the humble,And to revive the heart of the contrite ones." Sometimes you may not receive answers to your prayers immediately but he has heard you. Don't give up. Hold unto God to lift you up in due course. When you manage to rise your status so high please do not forget God. He really loves you. Why not tell him how you feel? Have a good discussion with your father? Prayer is not only about making requests. Open up to him.

  40. The Apostle's Creed The Apostle's Creed (100-250 A.D.) The origin of the Apostles' Creed is less clear than that of the Nicene Creed. The most common view is that it was originally developed in the first or second century and was influenced later by the Nicene Creed. The earliest historical evidence of the creed's existence is in a letter written by the Council of Milan in 390 A.D. Almost every denomination has a slightly different version of the Apostles' Creed. Below is the ecumenical version of the English Language Liturgical Consultation (ELLC). The Creed: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Nicene Creed (325 A.D.) We believe in one God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, Very God of Very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father by whom all things were made; who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man, and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried, and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father. And he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead, whose kingdom shall have no end. And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And we believe one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. And we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. The Athanasian Creed (500 A.D.) Whosoever will be saved, before all things it is necessary that he hold the catholic faith. Which faith except every one do keep whole and undefiled; without doubt he shall perish everlastingly. And the catholic faith is this: That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity; Neither confounding the Persons; nor dividing the Essence. For there is one Person of the Father; another of the Son; and another of the Holy Ghost. But the Godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, is all one; the Glory equal, the Majesty coeternal. Such as the Father is; such is the Son; and such is the Holy Ghost. The Father uncreated; the Son uncreated; and the Holy Ghost uncreated. The Father unlimited; the Son unlimited; and the Holy Ghost unlimited. The Father eternal; the Son eternal; and the Holy Ghost eternal. And yet they are not three eternals; but one eternal. As also there are not three uncreated; nor three infinites, but one uncreated; and one infinite. So likewise the Father is Almighty; the Son Almighty; and the Holy Ghost Almighty. And yet they are not three Almighties; but one Almighty. So the Father is God; the Son is God; and the Holy Ghost is God. And yet they are not three Gods; but one God. So likewise the Father is Lord; the Son Lord; and the Holy Ghost Lord. And yet not three Lords; but one Lord. For like as we are compelled by the Christian verity; to acknowledge every Person by himself to be God and Lord; So are we forbidden by the catholic religion; to say, There are three Gods, or three Lords. The Father is made of none; neither created, nor begotten. The Son is of the Father alone; not made, nor created; but begotten. The Holy Ghost is of the Father and of the Son; neither made, nor created, nor begotten; but proceeding. So there is one Father, not three Fathers; one Son, not three Sons; one Holy Ghost, not three Holy Ghosts. And in this Trinity none is before, or after another; none is greater, or less than another. But the whole three Persons are coeternal, and coequal. So that in all things, as aforesaid; the Unity in Trinity, and the Trinity in Unity, is to be worshipped. He therefore that will be saved, let him thus think of the Trinity. Furthermore, it is necessary to everlasting salvation; that he also believe faithfully the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ. For the right Faith is, that we believe and confess; that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is God and Man; God, of the Substance [Essence] of the Father; begotten before the worlds; and Man, of the Substance [Essence] of his Mother, born in the world. Perfect God; and perfect Man, of a reasonable soul and human flesh subsisting. Equal to the Father, as touching his Godhead; and inferior to the Father as touching his Manhood. Who although he is God and Man; yet he is not two, but one Christ. One; not by conversion of the Godhead into flesh; but by assumption of the Manhood into God. One altogether; not by confusion of Substance [Essence]; but by unity of Person. For as the reasonable soul and flesh is one man; so God and Man is one Christ; Who suffered for our salvation; descended into hell; rose again the third day from the dead. He ascended into heaven, he sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from whence he will come to judge the living and the dead. At whose coming all men will rise again with their bodies; And shall give account for their own works. And they that have done good shall go into life everlasting; and they that have done evil, into everlasting fire. This is the catholic faith; which except a man believe truly and firmly, he cannot be saved. The Creed of Chalcedon (A.D. 451) We, then, following the holy Fathers, all with one consent, teach men to confess one and the same Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, the same perfect in Godhead and also perfect in manhood; truly God and truly man, of a reasonable (rational) soul and body; consubstantial (coessential) with the Father according to the Godhead, and consubstantial with us according to the Manhood; in all things like unto us, without sin; begotten before all ages of the Father according to the Godhead, and in these latter days, for us and for our salvation, born of the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, according to the Manhood; one and the same Christ, Son, Lord, Only-begotten, to be acknowledged in two natures, inconfusedly, unchangeably, indivisibly, inseparably; the distinction of natures being by no means taken away by the union, but rather of the property of each nature being preserved, and concurring in one Person and one Subsistence, not parted or divided into two persons, but one and the same Son, and only begotten, God, the Word the Lord Jesus Christ; as the prophets from the beginning (have declared) concerning him, and the Lord Jesus Christ himself has taught us, and the Creed of the holy Fathers has handed down to us. Chaldedon, Bib Sac, 138:552:326 The Creeds are actually very Scriptural when you check them out: Colossians 2:9, Colossians 1:16, Colossians 1:19, Colossians 2:2-3, John 1:3, John 8:58, John 17:20-23, John 10:30, John 20:28, Titus 2:13, Philippians 2:10-12, 1 John 4:1-3, 2 John 1:17, Romans 1:1-10, Matthew 3:14-17, Hebrews 1:1-14, Hebrews 2:5-18, Hebrews 7:22, Hebrews 9:15, Genesis 1:26, Genesis 3:22.

Opinions about how to interpret scripture and which view is correct frequently seems to change from comparing viewpoints to personal attacks. I'd love to get other viewpoints to better develop and / or correct things I missed. However, which any viewpoint or correction is presented as 'You're wrong. I'm right. This is God's word.' it's not helpful.

I was taught that when the Lord punishes a person that means He loves him and is hoping for his correction but the worst thing is when the person is not punished and continues in his sins and that means he will surely end in hell.
