  3. Loving people who wish to harm you doesn't mean you have a picnic with them and become their best buddy and put yourself in harm's way. It means that you behave towards them the way that God did for us and the way that Jesus did for us. Loving your enemy means to do what God has done. The Bible says that while we were still sinners [and enemies with God] Christ died for our sins. And it also says that this is how God demonstrated his love for us. The Bible says that Gods sends "the rain" on evil people and good people. If he blesses the unjust with rain, and Jesus tells us to pray for those who persecute us, then we should take our cue from God and his Son. God is very, very patient with the lost. He is very, very patient with Christians who foul up. He gave the pagan people of the Old Testament hundreds of years to repent before he destroyed them. God IS love, but God is also a God of wrath - why? - because he is holy. God cannot and will not love what is unholy. And that includes Satan and his demons. You are I are not to love what is unholy - abortion, rape, murder, pornography, lying, and more. But we are to pray for those who treat us with ill will and worse. Who knows - our praying for them might bring them to the Lord.

  4. In the New Testament the word 'Beware' is used by the Lord Jesus Christ, and by Paul. The occasions of it's use are few, but it's very rarity should make each occassion, and the subject of each, vitally important, shouldn't it? I have studied this subject before and noted the object of each, and have seen the evidence of the failure of believers of the past to heed their warning, in the doctrines which are believed and fought over still. A study of the use of this word, 'beware', should be undertaken by each one of us, and careful examination and consideration given to it, if we would avoid the pitfalls warned against. I enter this today, not armed with references to give, but on the strength of a reminder in my mornings Bible study of one very important warning in Colossians 2:8. 'Beware lest any spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit' (ie., a vain and deceitful philosophy) ' ... after the tradition of men' ' ... after the rudiments of the world' ' ... and not after Christ ... ' The context enlarges and magnifies just what this vain deceitful philosophy does. It denies the Headship of Christ: and His finished work. It undermines the completeness of His sacrificial work on our behalf; and undermines the confidence and assurance we have in what He has accomplished for us in His death, His resurrection, and His ascension to God's right hand. It can be seen working out in the vain disputations on the forums, and in the doctrines held on the basis of the tradition of men, and not after Christ. This warning was given through the Apostle Paul, from our ascended Lord, and joins those given by Him during His ministry here on earth. Each one needs to be read and taken to heart. In Christ Jesus. Chris Ref. (Matt.7:15 - false prophets), (Matt.10:17 - Men), (Matt.16:6,11,12; Mark 12:38; Luke 12:1; 12:15 - Pharisees/Scribes), (Acts 13:40 - Israel specific), (Phil.3:2) (Col.2:8) (2 Pet.3:17)

  5. Hi, Blayze. I'm also "big" into science. I was a science teacher for many years - 4th through 9th grades. I've been a devout Christian for a much longer time than a science teacher. I've never had a problem with science pulling me away from God or the truths of the Bible. Legitimate, provable, and true science does not negate the Bible. Metaphysics does. Pseudo science does. What exactly is giving you a problem?

  6. God forgave MANY who hated Jesus. Several of the Pharisees were saved - read Acts 15. Paul fought against Jesus. God forgave him. It's never too late. Until you draw your last breath - you have an opportunity to be saved and forgiven. It you die despising God, despising Christ - there is no rescue from that.

  8. Do not be surprised... When multitudes of Christians take the mark of the beast. When pastors, friends and loved ones, who may or may not in fact be born again, take the mark and try to persuade you to do the same---telling you whatever they may to justify their actions and to persuade you: "For the sake of your children! What sort of parent would allow their children to go hungry! Is that what God would want? Do you think He is a monster, that it would be His will for His children to suffer, and innocent children, to not be able to eat or to lose their home, because their parents---who are responsible to provide for and protect them---refuse to take a mark? Didn't Jesus say that He would never leave us or forsake us, and that nothing can separate us from His love?" Beware. People who will tell you these things are deceived themselves, and even being used of the devil, unbeknownst to them, to try to convince you to do what will be your undoing. You will save neither yourselves nor your children by taking the mark, and you will perish spiritually. Do not be deceived. Remember Eve. And do not be surprised if church buildings all over the world, from the smallest to the greatest, are razed or set on fire, by order or encouragement of the government of the antichrist---as though God has turned His back on His people. The truth of it is that He hated what was being done in them, and they were an abomination to Him and an insult to His name; and by the hands of wicked men, He ordained that they should be destroyed and set on fire, as a testimony to the whole world that they did not honor Him and that He was not pleased with what was being done in them in His name: All the abominations that you now see in the churches, and the apostasy, in perverting the gospel and departing from and twisting the teachings of the faith, and making them whatever people want them to be to serve their own ends and to allow them to carry out the evil and unholy desires of their flesh and of their minds. And on top of all of these abominations, which you now see, there will be yet another---the greatest of them all---when the people of God forsake Him and take the mark of the beast to save their lives on earth, and to avoid persecution, and when they bow down with the nations to worship the image of the antichrist: The abomination that makes desolate. And so shall they be left when they do it. The very thing that God declares in His word will happen to anyone who does this abomination, will happen to them also---though they quote every verse in the Bible to justify their faithlessness and rebellion, as they do now for other things. So bear in mind, if and when the church buildings are destroyed, that it was the hand of your God that did it, through the hands of evil men, and His own mouth that gave the command---just as it was in the days of those who were before us, who we have as an example in the Scriptures, but fail to understand that we are following in their footsteps. It will not be because Satan has triumphed, that they will be torn down or set on fire, but because of the evil of God's people that they will be torn down, by God's own will. And it will be a testimony to the whole world, and to you, that this is so---that you may be ashamed of your rebellious ways and of your flagrant sins, and self-deception, and of the abominations that you used these houses for, and the sins you kept fresh in them, while calling on the name of the Lord and praising Him, to His dishonor and displeasure. And do not be deceived by the many Christians---true or professing---who will take the mark and try to persuade you to do the same, telling you that no harm will come to you. They will be deceived. Believe the words of your God, and not the words of men over God's, as you have made a habit of doing. We have good reason to believe that the very same thing that happened to the sanctuaries of Israel whenever they rebelled against the LORD will happen to us also, for the same reason. So no one should be surprised if it does. God is consistent in His ways. And if and when the people of this world rejoice and mock at the destruction of them, saying that it is because the God of the Christians is not God and because Christians are not the people of God that the churches are razed and God does not prevent it or take vengeance on those who destroy them, remember that it is because God was displeased with the churches that He commanded that they be destroyed, and not because He has no power to prevent it. He never wanted them. He always wanted the hearts and lives of His people---but He got buildings instead, and sacrifice instead of obedience. And all manner of evil was being committed in the churches in His name. The nations may exult over the destruction of the churches, but they will be foolish in doing so; for if the judgment of God begins at His household and sanctuary, and He does not spare His own people who rebel against Him, what will He do to those who have never known Him and have not obeyed the gospel? The cup of His wrath will come around to them also.

  9. Guess what brother........we are all children of God, so we can all receive divine inspiration to understand the lessons of scripture...that is what the oil for our lamps is all about......and God is not a respecter of persons, and even tells us to ask for wisdom when we need it.

  10. He (the antichrist) shall seduce with flattery those who violate the covenant, but the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action. And the wise among the people shall make many understand, though for some days they shall stumble by sword and flame, by captivity and plunder. (Daniel 11:33) Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but the wicked shall act wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall understand. (Daniel 12:10)

  12. Yes, great post. Speaks to the recent onslaught of false teachers who attempt to tear away at the fabric of the Godhead. Not simply confused, but a clear and obvious agenda by the enemy to ultimately strike at the very heart of who Jesus is. We all need to be aware of these wolves in sheep's clothing. God bless

  13. I need to apologize to @Ogner because he was probably talking about Paul BEFORE he was saved by grace. People have been known to slander Paul and say he had a mental disorder and that was the thorn in his flesh. He murdered Christians and had zeal for the law when he was Saul. I follow Paul as a pattern, per scripture and I defend him too strongly at times. Sorry Ogner.

  14. Thanks for the input and that's another reason it would help to see how many views a thread has, IMO. It's a bit of catch-22 because if I don't post, nobody will see the thread. When 3 or 4 posts are made and nobody is replying I can't tell if anybody is viewing the thread or not. I don't think the posts are that long and they're full of good teachings and scripture. The links are there if someone wants to click but nobody has to. I think lately I've done two posts a day but it's usually only one. I'll cut back to one, maybe in the evening. Another weakness of mine is that sometimes I get excited when I read a lesson and in my zeal, I post too much. Sometimes I read several per day and follow some links to read more. I realize the average attention span of humans is now estimated at about 8 seconds, comparable to a goldfish. However, some folks like to read especially when it's good stuff. In fact, when I'm reading something good I lose track of the length or the "page of text".

  15. ‘Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.’ (Col 2:18-19) Hello yet again, Regarding the word of warning concerning those who intrude, 'into those things which he hath not seen', I have seen very sincere believers fall into error by allowing themselves to become intrigued and overtaken by what God has not, in His wisdom, chosen to reveal. If God has not spoken it is wise for us to also remain silent. We may see in the written Word, glimpses of something beyond the page, but if God has chosen to remain silent regarding it, we should bow to His wisdom in doing so. So many have fallen into the trap of going beyond what is written, and fallen into theories of their own making, which ensnare and blind them to what is true. It is a tragedy! In Christ Jesus Chris

  16. ‘Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not; which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.’ (Col 2:20-23) Hello again, Colossians and Ephesians very much go together, don't they? Colossians containing correctives, and warnings in the light of the truth revealed in these Epistles. The desire expressed in Ephesians is, ' ... that ye might be filled up to all the fullness of God'. In Colossians the fullness is again demonstrated, but, there is also described a state which is a mere, 'satisfying of the flesh'. In the One, the believer seeks to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; in the other we read of those who rashly intrude into those things which God in His wisdom has chosen not to reveal, which leads to their undoing. In the One, there is such living contact with the Lord, that the desire is that Christ may dwell in their hearts by faith; in the other there is described what is a mock humility, an asceticism, a worshipping of angels, and a failure to hold the Head. Hence the need of the warning, and the word, 'Beware! (In Colossians 2:4-23). Within the love of Christ our Saviour. Now risen and glorified. Chris

  19. It would be nice if a pastor didnt have to be paid, but that really isnt realistic. The family of a pastor has to eat and pay for the roof over their heads. If the pastor doesnt take a salary, how will they eat? The wife ends up working? In most cases, being a pastor is a full time job. Its not just putting sermons together for the service. Its ministering to the body of Christ during the week.

  20. Our fellowship is with God and Jesus. We have his spirit in us and with at every second. Its,true at church you will not find good frirndships at a lot of them. Many people go there to belong to a club almost. But truth is that not right. We have to look to Jesus for our comfort. This world is passing away. In the new heaven and earth anyone thats there at that time will be a friend to everyone because we are the children of God and belong to each other in Gods house. No one will be in a click. Everyone one will be a servent of God and a servent of Jesus. Look forward to it !

KJV Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. If you already have been saved and you want your Faith to increase then the Word says... Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. if you would like a free computer Bible to go along with this site you can get on here... http://www.e-sword.net/ free Audio Bible here... https://www.biblegateway.com/resources/audio/ If you think you have just backsliden...Then i would Go with this Verse myself ...KJV 1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. and then seek the things of God and or the Word to Build up. the evidence you speak of ...Well when i got saved(for real i faked it many times) the Holy Spirit came upon me kinda strongly...not sure how to explain it very good but its amazing...its like a comfort that i cant explain ...its like it clears your mind greatly and you understand things you didnt before.... Hope this helps.Agape

  24. Rom 5:6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. Rom 5:7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— Rom 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. Rom 5:10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. We must forgive others for our own sakes, to keep from forming a root of bitterness. Heb 12:15 See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no "root of bitterness" springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; We all were once children of satan and a slave to sin. Jesus redeemed us from satan's kingdom by dying on the cross for mankind. But we each must receive Him to receive that forgiveness. We must choose to forgive even when we don't want to. We die to our own feelings because we desire to obey God. If we choose to disobey God in this, we will lose all joy and blessings our salvation.

  25. Trust me, you can, if you believe. I am still single for so many years, and I am not that hopeless. Well, at least I stopped being depressed about it... Thanks to God! I suffer with this too. It is hard thing to live with. But thanks to God, I have been making progress. Yes, it is hard. I did not find friends yet. Again, thanks to the Lord Jesus I have been joyful in such state. You are pretty much like me, I am amazed. I'm begging for friends, but people do not want to be my friend. But I am not depressed about it anymore, thanks to the Lord Jesus... You need to know Him more. And obviously, if you believe, you can be more socially acceptable. God bless you in Jesus' name!

  26. I should point out, too, TechEnthusiast, that the closer you get to God the more He transforms you into someone who is of great benefit to others, and this attracts others to you. So try not to let yourself continue to focus on your loneliness. It has the opposite effect. Not that you would not be cared for by true Christians, but they will care for you even more if you focus on being a blessing to them as they are to you. There will still be times of loneliness along the way, but in time you "fill out" in Christ to such an extent that you are always needed somewhere, because you can always be a blessing to someone.

  27. I was thinking about this again this afternoon while walking in the park. Somehow the topic came up about growing older, and I commented that the above is why you invest yourself in the things of God. People who invest in the things of this world start feeling like everything is passing them by by the time they reach their mid-fifties, whereas as I still feel like I have my whole life ahead of me because all my goals have been and still are spiritual. All they have to encourage themselves with are things like grandkids, and even then the grandkids may not be able to spend a lot of time with them. What next? Grow old in a nursing home, with family members who are still chasing their own lives and don't have time to come see you? Better to invest yourself in Christ and have purpose in Him until the day you die. You can still be a blessing to people everyday, and have a true reason for being that gives your life joy and meaning, both now and forever.

  28. I am single, have no car and its unlikely I will get married. Up until recently I have been incredibly socially awkward. The churches that I have been to don't seem to have anything real for singles. It seems like a place where people who are socially acceptable, have families, and have money go to congregate. You are told that you are accepted because you have Repented and trusted in Jesus. You are then left mostly alone and left to fend for yourself. You have to figure out how to find "YOUR PEOPLE". The thing is I thought that your local church was supposed to be your family. Often I feel very very lonely to the point of emotional and physical pain, but they have families and other responsibilities and we are somewhat spread out and I have no car. I feel very very neglected by the people I love and the church that I love(It has taken me a long time to find a church). It just seems like everyone wants a family, but the truth of the matter is that if you have a family you choose that because it will take most of your time. Do even the best Christians want their best life now and not even know it? In reality you get to have a true church family if you are good at being social, have money, have a car, and have a lot of things in common with the people who go to your church. Other than that you will be relegated to Sundays and Bible studies. won't leave out my friend who gives me a ride to work, but that is not the norm and before I got a job I lacked a job, car, social skills, any type of skills, I was left alone and no one felt at all responsible for the man who had not very much to offer.

  29. Overwhelming Evidence All the geological and paleontological evidence PROVES beyond the slightest scintilla of a doubt that THERE WAS A WORLD BEFORE ADAM. Most of the dating techniques of scientists -- uranium-argon, potassium-thorium, racemization and thermaluminescence -- as well as observation and logic conclusively show that the rocks under our feet, the bones of ancient animals, and even the charcoal campfires of Paleo-Indians, Neanderthal man, and other ancient hominid remains, are MUCH OLDER than 6,000 years. There was a world before Adam. In fact, there were MANY ages before Adam, and these ages can be carefully distinguished through the study of paleontology, paleo-ecology, and related scientific disciplines. The evidence is INDISPUTABLE. Many independent dating techniques demonstrate that various hominid creatures lived about 500,000 years ago. More primitive types lived as long ago as 1-2,000,000 years. Those creatures, in some cases, were FAMILIAR with fire, used crude chipped stone tools such as hand axes, notched and saw-toothed implements, scrapers, engravers. They were PRE-ADAMIC CREATURES living in a PRE-ADAMIC WORLD. A world which ended in a great catastrophe. And before their time, OTHER worlds existed. The world of the dinosaurs ended about 70,000,000 years ago. That world, too, ended in a cosmic catastrophe. The pre-Adamic world was a world of growth, change, and progress. It was a world where new life forms were introduced from time to time. The fact that this world has been in existence for many millions of years is no longer a matter for debate. It is academic. Any serious author, today, must face squarely the many indications of time found in the geological record. Neo-Creationists believe we must choose either the Bible or science, particularly scientific dating methods. One typical Neo-Creationist argues: "The Bible-believing scientist must face squarely the question, In the area of natural science which shall supersede, the clear assertions of God's inspired Book, or modern man's interpretation of what he thinks he sees in nature?" This particular author continues: "According to Bible chronology only a few thousand years have passed since the creation of the ancestors of our modern plants and animals...Contrariwise, if one accepts the assumption that the inorganic radioisotope clocks were reset wherever they became associated with fossil-bearing material, then apparently at least 600 million years have passed since plants and animals first appeared successively from that time over a duration of some 600 million years" (Frank Lewis Marsh, Life, Man and Time, pp. 67-68). The truth is, there is NO CONTRADICTION between the Biblical record and scientific knowledge of the earth's past. Those who wish to uphold the Bible in the face of new evidence regarding early hominids, homo erectus, homo habilis, or other discoveries of Primitive Man-like creatures, need not worry. There is NO EVIDENCE that such creatures evolved into Modern man. Rather, they lived long ago in a world BEFORE ADAM WAS CREATED -- another world -- another age -- another time. Such discoveries tell us much about the ancient history of the earth. They tell us nothing, one way or the other, about the Scriptures. Creation and Recreation In the pages of Genesis, as it relates to the original creation of the universe, we read the simple, matter-of-fact statement: "In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth" (Genesis 1:1, King James Version). The Amplified Bible renders this verse: "In the beginning God (prepared, formed, fashioned,) and created the heavens and the earth." The Good News Bible states: "In the beginning, when God created the universe..." The Moffatt Translation: "When God began to form the universe..." The Goodspeed Translation: "When God began to create the heavens and the earth..." What exactly does the book of Genesis tell us? That YEHOVAH God created the universe -- the heavens and the earth -- in a period of time called, simply, "the beginning." How long ago that primeval creation occurred we are not told anywhere in the Scripture. To determine that, YEHOVAH God has given us brains and intellect! That time of beginning could well have been six to ten billion years ago. Astronomers calculate that a "Big Bang" took place at that time, out of which the entire cosmos was created. Verse two of Genesis, chapter one, continues: "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep" (King James Version). Is this verse describing the ORIGINAL creation as being formless and void? If so, it would seem a contradiction. Verse one tells us YEHOVAH created the heavens and the earth. When YEHOVAH creates something, it is beautiful, grand, and majestic. In the 38th chapter of the book of Job, we read: "Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof? When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?" (vs. 4-7). If the original earth had been created a chaotic ruin, formless and void, the angels would not have "sang together" or have "shouted for joy." Isaiah 45:18 adds more light on this enigmatic passage. The prophet declares: "For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else" (King James Version). The Hebrew word translated "vain" here is tohu and means "to lie waste," "a desolation," "a desert." It can also be translated "confusion," "empty place," "without form," "nothing," "wilderness." It is the very same word used in Genesis 1:2, where we read the earth "was without form." One place says YEHOVAH God created the earth and it "was without form"; in another place we read YEHOVAH did not create the earth "without form." Is this a contradiction? Not at all! The KEY to understanding this apparently complex problem lies in the little word "was." It can also be translated "BECAME." In fact, in Genesis 19:16 it is translated "became." We read: "And Lot's wife became a pillar of salt." What happened, then, is this: When YEHOVAH God originally created the earth, it was indeed a lovely place. He created it with no waste, no wilderness, no desolation. It was inhabited. The angels leaped for joy, and shouted with admiration and enthusiasm when they beheld the primeval earth. But then something happened. It became "tohu" -- that is, waste, a ruin, a desolation. The original earth suffered a great cataclysm -- a cosmic catastrophe. The Hebrew words translated "without form and void" in Genesis 1:2 literally mean a desolation, a wilderness, an empty, uninhabited ruin. These words, tohu and bohu are very strong words and denote CATASTROPHE. They strongly suggest that some sort of primeval cataclysm, or several such cataclysms, occurred. Destruction! Paroxysm! Chaos! Scripture gives no data for determining HOW LONG AGO the universe was created. And in the first chapter of Genesis, it only records THREE creative acts: 1) the heavens and the earth (verse 1); 2) new animal life (verses 20-21); and 3) human life, Adam and Eve (verses 26-27). The first creative act referred to the DATELESS PAST. The creation of NEW forms of animal life, and Adam and Eve, occurred approximately 6,000 YEARS AGO. Obviously, then, the first chapter of Genesis is not describing the original creation of the heavens and earth as occurring in seven consecutive days. After the chaos and destruction which occurred, in verse two of Genesis one, YEHOVAH God began a process of re-creation, reconstruction, if you please, which lasted for seven days. Verse 16 of Genesis one does NOT describe the sun and moon and stars being created on the fourth day. How could light have been created on the first day, but the sun and stars which IMPART LIGHT not till the fourth day? The original Hebrew for "made" in verse 16 actually means "made to appear, made visible." The sun and moon were created "in the beginning." The light came from the sun, of course, but the VAPOR in the earth's atmosphere diffused the light. After the great cataclysm, the earth was cut off from the light of the sun, moon and stars. Darkness prevailed everywhere. As verse two says: "And the earth was (BECAME) without form and void (TOHU and BOHU); and DARKNESS was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." What do we see then? An earth destroyed, in pitch darkness, covered by water, the continents submerged, due to some great cataclysm. During the process of RECONSTRUCTION or RE-CREATION, YEHOVAH God first caused the light from the sun to penetrate the atmosphere once again, in a DIFFUSED manner (Genesis 1:3-5), allowing day and night to become discernible. He created order in the atmosphere (verses 6-8). He caused the dry land to appear once again (verse 10). He caused the earth to once again bring forth life, plants, vegetation, of all kinds. As the turgid clouds and atmospheric disturbances cleared away, He caused the sun, moon and stars to once again become visible from the earth's surface (verses 14-18). Then, having REFASHIONED the surface of the earth, and having prepared it, YEHOVAH created NEW living creatures -- NEW animal life of all kinds, from great whales to small fish, from elephants to rodents, from flying birds to flying fish and insects -- to REPOPULATE the earth, and to REPLENISH it (verses 20-25). Something had happened to the Pre-Adamic earth. It had been overwhelmed in a MIGHTY CATASTROPHE, or a long series of catastrophes, which is briefly described in verse 2 of Genesis chapter 1. But what happened? The world before Adam came to an ABRUPT, screeching end. It was cut short by flooding and upheaval, stroke upon stroke of catastrophe. This one short enigmatic, much misunderstood verse of the Bible, contains within its cryptic message a story that will amaze you. This one little verse may hold a CLUE as to what happened to the earth, after the original time when it was created, beautiful, and to be "inhabited," and before the time of Adam and Eve, when it had to be refashioned, reshaped, refurbished, and rebuilt. This one verse, in essence, may cover a time span of MILLIONS of years. If YEHOVAH God originally created the earth six to ten billion years ago, and over millions of years created VARIOUS and sundry life forms, causing them to become buried in massive burials to form deposits of coal, peat, and oil and natural gas; if He spent millions of years preparing the world for the eventual time when He would create Man IN HIS OWN IMAGE [not some amorphous BLOB]; who are we to complain? Vast Periods of Time? Vast periods of time, and many successive ecological niches, had to exist in the earth, for algal reefs of hundreds of feet to grow in place. Much time was required for vast quantities of vegetation to live, grow, and die, and to become entombed, to create vast deposits of coal in Kansas, Oklahoma, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. This vast period of time YEHOVAH put to good use. As Robert Macdonald shows, in a paper entitled Geology: "The fossil record contains hundreds of zones, each with its own particular faunal assemblage. What is the chance that such an invariant worldwide sequence of life forms could be built up if they all lived CONTEMPORANEOUSLY, and the sequence in which they are found were only a burial order? How could a burial order based not on water sorting, but on environments do the job?... "Suppose that in a worldwide catastrophe, one group of organisms were brought in from one area and deposited, then another assemblage from another area were deposited on top of that, and so on. A local sequence of life forms would be built up. But the chances would be against the deposition of fossils in the same order in a local sequence in another area. Consider the chance that the same order would occur in all sequences worldwide. It would be NIL! "There is NO WAY to account for the sequence in faunal succession by ONE catastrophe. Nor is there any way to account for this sequence by a SERIES of catastrophes, or by a LONG DRAWN-OUT catastrophe. If all these Paleozoic and Mesozoic organisms were contemporaneous, there would inevitably have been some mixing of early and late forms. "The ONLY explanation is that each geologic horizon does indeed represent a DIFFERENT time in the past during which a unique assemblage of life forms was living and being deposited in many parts of the world. Slow or incremental deposition is therefore essential to give time for worldwide changes in populations of fauna whose remains preserved as fossils vary from one stratum to another." During the geologic ages of the earth's past, life went on in a normal fashion for millions of years. Fossil reefs obviously grew in the place in which they are found. Standing trees, with their roots in place, tracks and trails both on land and on the sea bottoms, layer upon layer containing burrows and borings made by animals just as they do in the sea-bottoms today, all show that most of the geologic column was created OVER MILLIONS OF YEARS, not in the Flood of Noah's time, or some other isolated catastrophe. Although the record in the earth's strata clearly shows that great catastrophes did take place, in the earth's past, the record also shows that there were periods of millions of years in which no violent cataclysms occurred. During these calm, relatively nonviolent periods, great CREATIVE PROCESSES were going on. Cyclothems of coal were formed. As Macdonald points out, coal is commonly found in a sequence of beds called a cyclothem -- a cycle of beds repeated over and over again, perhaps dozens of times. Much time would be needed for such deposits to be made, one on top of another. For the rest of this article, go to: http://hope-of-israel.org/lifeadam.htm Originally edited by: John D. Keyser. 31. Pastor gave everyone small spikes (nails) painted red at the tip. He suggested that we put them on our desk at work, table at a restaurant if we are eating out etc and whenever someone asks about it, tell them the story of passover and Jesus on the cross. Thought it was kind of cool so I am posting it here.

  32. Interesting you would bring that up, today was full of oddities and this passage had come to mind for me. I Timothy 4:6 If you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed. 7 Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; 8 for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

And even when disproven they still hold to there pet conspiracy. A lot of posts of plain doctrine seems unpopular. I guess its boring. But i get a lot out of it. I mean i can sit at home and react to people posting from who knows where. Its awesome.

  36. "Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more the me is not worthy of me; and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds His life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." - Matthew 10:37-39 Many believe for Jesus' salvation, but never walk in the total freedom of the cross. In the New Testament, "kairos" means ' the appointed time in the purpose of God", the time when God acts; for example in Mark 1:15: "And saying, ' The time (kairos) is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the gospel.'" DIVINE IMPARTATION FOR STRENGTH In Luke 22:43 after Jesus had resolved within His own heart for the Father's will to be done in His life, we see that "An angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him." It is possible for us to be granted a divine impartation of strength to embrace the cross today. If we are to achieve anything in our lives that bears eternal fruit, we must first deny ourselves and embrace the cross (God's PURPOSE for our lives) just as Christ Jesus modeled for us. The anointing to embrace the cross (God's CALLING on our life) involves prayer, sanctification, and intimacy with God. There is no alternative way to embrace the cross. In Matthew 27:32 Simon the Cyrenian was "compelled to bear His cross." Is Jesus calling us to do the same today? COMPELLED TO BEAR OUR CROSS Matthew 27:32 - "Now as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: Him they compelled to bear His cross." "Compelled (Greek: Aggareuo, Strongs 29) literally translated -- to be pressed into public service or compelled to "go". The word for "bear" (Greek; Airo, Strong's 142), literal translation -- to take up or to take away. The call is still true for us today just as it was for Simon the Cyrenian. To "take up our cross" we must come to the place of death. We must die to ourselves and to our worldly dreams and fully embrace the plans and blueprints that God has written for us in heaven. When Simon and Jesus took the cross to Calvary, "they were come (together) unto a place called Golgotha" (Matthew 27:33). Prophetically, Simon the Cyrenian represents each of us: We must all come to the place of the cross and die to our agendas and carnal thoughts for our lives and ministries. We must allow the Father's will to be done in our lives. We must all come to our own personal Golgothas. Just as Jesus was with the Cyrenian, He will be with each of us at the time and place of our personal death to self. "Jesus then said to his disciples, 'If anyone wishes to be a follower of mine, he must leave self behind; he must take up his cross and come with me. Whoever cares for his own safety is lost; but if a man will let himself be lost for my sake, he will find his true self.'" - Matthew 16:24-25 NEB COMING UNDER ATTACK The enemy of our soul does not want us to embrace the Cross of Christ. The warfare can be tremendous for us as we embrace the cross (death to self). When we approach the place of surrender and death to self we will also come under attack from the evil one. Fortunately, Jesus has already fought this battle for each of us. The enemy will bellow and scream at us every time we fall short. When we fail to fully embrace the cross, he will illuminate our shortcomings. Picking up our cross is a process. If we fall down -- get up just as Jesus did. Emulate Christ -- dying to yourself and worldly dreams is a process. Even the Son of God walked through this process. It takes time and intimacy with the Lord -- laying down our life is a process. "Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple." - Luke 14:27 Taking up your cross is not a popular message. When Jesus shared this message, many left Him, and later reviled and cursed Him. The message of the cross was one reason why Jesus was beaten, afflicted, smote, reviled spit on, crucified, and killed. When we die to man-made methods, ideas, and formulas, and begin to truly minister in the pattern of heaven, only then can God truly begin to release the Kingdom into our life.

  37. Yes, and if it is getting too hard... Just pray and ask, because there are times we wish to do something good but we cannot on our own. "For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice." - Romans 7:19 But in the Lord all things are possible. "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me." - John 15:4

  38. Good topic brother. Worthy is still a place for sharing the gospel and discussing ideas that "people" have in their thoughts that they may want to to hear others opinions on. Who else does this, is it not kids, who for their lack of maturity has thoughts that they run to their parents and others with. A Christian is a soldier on a pilgrimage that is filled with pitfalls that he would learn by his experience. Not everyone that comes here have their doctrines in line with others and patience should be showed with the relevant scripture verses to teach and enlighten doctrines that does not matches the word. While there are many issues that may confront the very issues e.g Bible versions ect., time must be taken to come to the truth as to the scripture verse ect. What i see here as one of the main stumbling blocks , where many get frustrated, are that believers may think that time should not be taken again to teach on a subject that has been already discussed and in their frustration, they become condescending and belittle with their remarks. A teacher has to have patience or he would fail in his tutoring. Trolls simply should be ignored and again, many don't have the patience to ignore them, but exacerbate the topic to chaos and confusion. As the saying goes "it take two to tangle". Some of the seasoned people here have to take an examination of their attitudes and make the adjustment. Can't fight fire with fire. Matthew 10 King James Version (KJV) 16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. 25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?.

  39. Your mercy may be what causes a change in their heart that leads them to salvation. That's the ultimate goal in loving your enemy. It's completely other centered. All about them Now that's a love that surpasses understanding! If you look at the whole story in Matthew 18 you'll see that's exactly what the master is doing, however, the servant wasn't truly repentant and accepting the forgiveness (obvious by his actions) and the master knew it. In the end, his using the master for material gain didn't work out too well.

  40. God would not tell us to do something that He can't or won't do himself. I think you have to look at what your definition of love is. What does the bible say about love 1Co 13:4 Love is always patient; love is always kind; love is never envious or arrogant with pride. Nor is she conceited, 1Co 13:5 and she is never rude; she never thinks just of herself or ever gets annoyed. She never is resentful; 1Co 13:6 is never glad with sin; she's always glad to side with truth, and pleased that truth will win. 1Co 13:7 She bears up under everything; believes the best in all; there is no limit to her hope, and never will she fall. 1Co 13:8 Love never fails. Now if there are prophecies, they will be done away with. If there are languages, they will cease. If there is knowledge, it will be done away with. This isn't the gooshee "I love you man" kind of love, this is a love that takes an effort. The love most people think of is like when you fall in love. That's different from the love we see God exemplifying. We easily confuse like and love and think they operate the same way, however, you either like someone or you don't, that's not something you can work at to change. But love, we can work at love. Something else to keep in mind is that you can love as the bible describes it EVEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE SOMEONE. This is the kind of love God has.....even for His enemies. His love is so great that he died for all our sins...all people, all sin. Heb 9:12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with his own blood he went into the Most Holy Place once for all and secured our eternal redemption. .........Heb 9:28 so the Messiah was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people. The question is not IF God will forgive!!! ALL sin has been forgiven, but like many have already said on this post, we have to realize we are sinners, need forgiveness, hear the gospel (the good news) that it has already been forgiven and then with a repenting heart wanting to change, simply accept the gift. The problem with Satan, and many people, is that they are too proud to admit they have done wrong of their own accord. They'll either try to blame others, justify themselves or deny they need the forgiveness of another (God). As a result of not ACCEPTING the forgiveness freely offered they are in effect as though they were unforgiven

  42. God led me to repentance . ONLY the goodness of GOD can. God will destroy all who rejected the Son. But again, WE aint GOD. you apparently do not appreciate HIS Salvation , if you did , you would forgive . You focus is on the situatoins in life and circumstances. LET it be above on HIM. we supposed to be hated and mocked and worse even killed. JESUS Forgave those who killed HIM. We sure are not better THAN JESUS. let go of your hate. Submit to GOD , resist the devil and he will flee.

  43. Actually, I can see the human side of Him doing exactly that. He was humble and sought no acclaim or praise. And, to get back to Onelight's thread, we all need to look to the Lord and stop trying to make ourselves important in the eyes of men.

  44. Cause we was all evil , vile and wicked things , and then instead of the death we deserved, God gave grace which drew us to Christ and we are forgiven because HE paid the price . OH its true God will destroy the wicked AT HIS COMING , but till then we follow CHRIST JESUS and his examples . So armour up Ogner . God forgave me for a mountain of sin , let us therefore forgive those who sin against us and preach Christ .

  45. I'm so sorry for your loneliness and resulting pain. I am a senior citizen and single, content in that. However, the last several years I have experienced two good churches going extremely liberal and I had to leave after many years. Then the third church (young Koreans) were very nice Christians but the leadership was legalistic and refused me communion unless I joined their church! This hurt me deeply, where I actually got physically ill and was unable to keep attending there. So I am glad you found a church that you love. Have you talked to the pastor about your feelings? It might help. Also, are there any volunteer activities you might join with others at your church? God bless you.

  46. I imagine over the years George has heard a complaint or two, or maybe even a suggestion. Maybe it’s good once in a while to air things out, however I’ve found others seldom make the changes I believe they should. The most immediate results occur with what things I control. What each of us devotes time to posting sets the tone for each day. Question, what do I want to post? Things that edify, are good, are true, are lovely, point to Jesus, offer life, hope, love?

  47. I honestly have never heard this before but it makes everything clear, for me anyway. I wondered about the hot, cold, lukewarm thing too and it makes sense that Jesus would put things in a way that everyone would understand. I guess it's true; we're never too old to learn.

  48. Actually, theres merit to what your saying and yowm. Yes, absolutly false doctrine should be addressed-but all to often, when these types get on, instead of simply refuting the trolls and moving on, we, and I include myself in this, turn it into a huge debate, where we try to shout down the trolls. all that does is feed them and make us look bad. Something to be said about simply leaving a solid, Biblical refutation, and then moving on and ignoring them from that point on. The Bible can defend itself, let the readers read through and make their judgement, arguing with a troll for 20+ pages will not change their mind.

  49. I believe the Bible teaches that the death was a spiritual one, affecting humanity, not the rest of life on the planet. Several translations of Genesis 2:17 include a warning to Adam and Eve that "on they day" that they eat, they would surely die. They obviously did not suffer physical death on that day, but did suffer an even greater result - separation from God. If I am correct here, then the death from Romans 5 would refer to the death that is spiritual, and a separation from God, not a physical death that would include all living organisms other than humanity. I don't believe that Romans 5 precludes physical death at all.

  50. 400,000 years old Human DNA prior to Adam found: The oldest human DNA ever recovered is throwing scientists for a loop: The 400,000-year-old genetic material comes from bones that have been linked to Neanderthals in Spain — but its signature is most similar to that of a different ancient human population from Siberia, known as the Denisovans. The researchers who did the analysis said their findings show an "unexpected link" between two of our extinct cousin species. Follow-up studies could crack the mystery — not only for the early humans who lived in the cave complex known as Sima de los Huesos (Spanish for "Pit of Bones"), but for other mysterious populations in the Pleistocene epoch."Ancient DNA sequencing techniques have become sensitive enough to warrant further investigation of DNA survival at sites where Middle Pleistocene hominins are found," the research team, led by Matthias Meyer and Svante Pääbo of Germany's Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, wrote in Thursday's issue of the journal Nature. ("Hominin" is the currently accepted term for humans and our close evolutionary cousins.)As anthropologists are getting better at extracting DNA from ancient bones, genetic mysteries are cropping up more frequently: Last month, researchers at scientific meetings talked about not-yet-published findings that hinted at interbreeding among Neanderthals, Denisovans and previously unknown populations of early humans.A new standard The age of the mitochondrial DNA analyzed for the Nature study sets a new standard: Researchers used statistical analysis of the DNA and other samples to estimate that the material was roughly 400,000 years old. That meshed with the estimated age for similar DNA extracted from bear bones found in the same cave.More than 6,000 human fossils, representing about 28 individuals, have been recovered from the Sima de los Huesos site, a hard-to-get-to cave chamber that lies about 100 feet (30 meters) below the surface in northern Spain. The fossils are unusually well-preserved, thanks in part to the undisturbed cave's constant cool temperature and high humidity.
