  2. I can't judge people's love for others by a 30 minute service over the dead. My grandfather died suddenly many years ago. Our pastor at the time was out of town. He did not come in for the funeral. He and my grandfather were the closest of any two men in our church. They dearly loved each other and each other's family. Not one person in our family thought anything about it. Nothing. We were not offended at all. We knew that he was out of state and getting back for 30 minutes wasn't prudent. He would grieve with my grandmother when he came back. I wish you could read the letter he wrote my grandmother that did get to her a day or two later. It was the most heart-felt thing ever. It was something she kept for many years in her bible. I would hate to know that I had to attend every single funeral/wedding of every single friend or their families to prove my love for them.

  4. Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Daniel 11:36, I'm interested in, what coming events would be necessary for you to witness that would cause you to change your mind about the timing of the rapture. If you see the Temple rebuilt in Jerusalem will you forsake your delusion of a pre-seventieth week rapture? Or the resumption of the daily sacrifice and oblation will you then cast aside this spurious teaching? What about seeing the covenant confirmed with many, will you then realize you are wrong? Or maybe when you see or hear of Elijah of whom it was prophesied that He would come before the day of the LORD to turn the hearts of the sons to the fathers and the hearts of the fathers to the sons. Would you then cast off this falsehood that you so vehemently defend? Or will it take the announcement by the powers that be that everyone is to receive a mark without which no man may buy or sell. Will you then stop your foolishness? Or will you take this mark foolishly thinking that this can't be the mark of the Beast because you're sure that you will be raptured before it comes along? What about seeing the man of sin sitting in the Temple claiming to be God, will that do it? Maybe you'll change your tune when your family and many others that you know, whom had professed Christ, fall away and worship the Beast? Who will be lost to you and Christ forever because they were never told that they may have to face affliction, starvation, and/or death to own the name of Christ. What will it take for you to warn those you love about the coming unprecedented persecution and deception instead of setting them at ease with the promise of a great escape that will not come until after great tribulation? There is coming a test for all true believers that will demonstrate that their faith is real, but the "professors" whose faith is in something other than the person and work of Christ will be exposed by this same tribulation. If you would just believe the warnings of Christ and of Paul, both told of the revelation of the Beast and the falling away due to persecution and deception. They both said that Christ wouldn't come to gather His own unto Himself until after these things happen. Wake up man, you still have time to help those you love. Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. All praise, honour, and glory be unto Jesus Christ our Lord

  5. Whenever you start to get bothered in your mind, remember this: "...in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 Also, please find some other promises in God's word that you can meditate on when your mind becomes troubled. I believe the more we renew our minds with God's word, the less the enemy can trouble us in our minds. Also, remember the Armor of God in Ephesians 6.

  6. Hi, Decided to share this morning for whatever little it may be worth. While I would not choose to be roman Catholic, I also would not choose to be ( Place any church sect name here ) either. Fact is I have not chosen to be anything at all. I have resisted God at every turn, until the Holy Spirit first made His specific call to me to repent of my sin against God and to turn to Jesus as My Lord and savior. I did so without then chosing to be any member of any faith system sect or denomination. I was simply saved by Grace alone. As I look back over my life. I find that God has used such a wide varience of influences upon me to set up the day of my own reckoning that I hesitate to say one church cannot be used by God and another can, no matter how far afield the doctrine of any one of them. God may, and will, use even that which is intended for evil and turn it to the good for those that come to believe on Christ Jesus as Lord God and personal savior. At age 7 through about age 10 I watched Bishop Fulton Sheen. I am amazed to watch Him today and find sound teaching almost prophetic in nature speaking today from more than 60 years ago. And yet, from my own very personal inside the church awareness I am horrified by the Roman Catholic Church, and what it's priests, monsignors, and archbishops, have been doing that seem even more rampant and more terrible today. God has taken me on a journey through many faiths and cultures and has revealed via the Holy Spirit my Lord Jesus. Near as I can tell he is not Episcopal nor Brethren nor Roman Catholic nor Southern Baptist. He might be Pentecostal but I am not sure of that either LOL. I only know that the Holy Spirit up and moves me where He will have me to go, and I will worship with brothers and sisters there. I will serve Him at each place He sends me as best I can given the limits of my understanding talent and gifts. In conclusion since God has led me on the path He will have me travel, and not one of my own choosing, I will be content to let God lead others as He sees fit too. And if some are led to be of the Roman Catholic Church along their way, hey it is God's will that is to be served. May He bless them as He saves them individually, just as He has done this former atheist. He saves each of us as He wills, and makes it known to us when He wills. He has always foreknown and He has predestined too. Therein is my confidence.

  7. We will pray for you...don't forget to pray for yourself! Ask God to remind you of His truth in moments when your own mind is confused. Read the Bible daily and study it well, and God will bring those words of truth to your mind more and more in the right situations. God bless you!

  8. Welcome to the human race!! This happens to most of us at some time or other. Also to add to this peculiar mix, I understand that hormones can play a real 'cat amongst the pigeons' time with some ladies. This causes all kinds of weird emotions and since our brains are controlled largely by hormones, we sometimes feel they have gone in to after-burner mode and get all fired up with no seemingly real reason. Thyroid imbalance can also contribute to our feelings of well being too. Of course the psych-heresies love this kind of thing so they can practice their snake-oil on people and give them all kinds of fun descriptions. They even hand out drugs to try and assuage our imbalances. This often makes their subjects worse in the long run. It is often wise to relate these 'feeling' to your medical doctor. There are tests that can determine if what you are experiencing is due to some understandable bodily function being out of kilter. The Lord does understand this kind of thing and will often lead us into the path that will give us respite. But initially, pray that you can find a real Godly MD. Then see what happens.

  9. Hi jesuscaresforyou, Yes our minds are very hard to deal with. It is a constant battle as God`s word says and we are to bring our thoughts into obedience to the Lord. (2 Cor. 10: 3 - 6) Sometimes we think our minds run us but in fact the mind is just an organ and is to be operated by our will. Our minds can run amok though if we feed it the wrong things or too much overload. Perhaps learn to quieten your mind with good music, and turn your thoughts to good things when it runs off on a tangent. Praying, Marilyn.

  10. The blood of christ cleases from all sin. The grace of God teaches us to deny ungodliness. Its the finish work of God that brings us grace.

  14. Hi Sister, Thank you for those great thoughts. Wow, that was an upfront, in your face word to you. Obviously you didn`t take offense but ran with it and gave the reins of your heart to the Lord, and over time we here see the result, - a caring, forthright, sensitive to the Lord, sister. Marilyn.

  16. Though I personally disagree with various schools of thought in Catholicism, and this is the strongest, we have to remember that they are people, too. Some Catholics aren't saved, certainly, but there are Christians who are not saved - Jesus Himself even said that many would come before Him and be rejected even though they did a lot in His Name (Matthew 7:21-23). It's a scary thought, but we have to remember only God can change hearts, but we can plant seeds and still be strong examples and show love. Not that it's going to be easy all the time. But yes, Christ is the only authority, I can agree with that: Was a video here from youtube under the title of "Authority of Jesus Christ", channel was called FindingFaith. I removed the video, because videos are only allowed in the video section of the forum. - Omegaman 3.0

  18. I had a visitation partner named Paul. We would go to peoples' houses to them about the Lord. Many of these folks would be reluctant to discuss their own need of Christ and would attempt to redirect the conversation to the Christian that they knew who had done bad things. You have heard the list before; preachers who ran off with the piano player, deacons who lie, cheat, and curse prolifically, family members who are horrible people in private, etc. etc. etc. My friend had an excellent reply. He would say, "All that you say might be true, but what wrong has Jesus ever done to you?" It is expected that the lost person would surround himself with a wall of real and imagined examples of failed Christianity. But the believer has his own cloud of witnesses in Hebrews 12:1 and we can look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith as true examples. Hebrews 12:2 I am all about listening and responding to the views of other believers, but I have watched with dismay as posts with very interesting topics degenerate into totally different topics due to being sidetracked by certain hot and unresolved issues. Listen when I tell you that I have some very rigid doctrinal beliefs that I have studied and do follow. That being said, I want to know what others believe and why. That's why I joined this forum in the first place. Therefore, I refuse to be offended by those posting here, although I may take issue. Please don't take it personally when I state an opposing position. This forum could be a wonderful place for friendly debate. Remember that believers and non-believers read this posts. Galatians 5:13-16 ¶ For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

  19. This forum attracts all types.. So the easy way to deal with people who ""bite and devour"" you is to put them on ignore ASAP.. If you can tolerate and be a bit long-suffering towards people who have a bad attitude then maybe you can reach them with the truth after taking some bitterness from them.. But if you have low tolerance for being personally attacked and mocked then the ignore feature is there to be used. As for people who reject God because of the failures of other human beings.. In the end if they reject God because of other human beings their faith was never based on God.. It was based on other human beings in their religious organization, their god was their religious community.. Good saying.. And it rhymes too..

  20. Hi dear Sister HikerMom, I came from Catholicism when I no longer agreed with much of their dogma, and did the same with other churches I attended for awhile as I grew in grace and knowledge of our Lord. Did that make former friends at those places my enemies, or not my brethren in Christ? No, I know many Catholics that have called upon the name of the Lord. Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. I highly doubt you will find the perfect teachings that will agree with you all the days of your life, but learn to enjoy the worshipping together with others of like faith, and the brotherly love of fellowship in the very presence of our God. Just an opinion in Christ Jesus.

  21. Hi Marilyn Aaah, Peter, Peter. I often think how like me he was. Intense, rough around the edges, God worked wonderful things in Peter's life to change him into the wonderful believing disciple and preacher he turned out to be. So often, a rough diamond is tamed through the loving hand of the Master designer if we are prepared to let Him mold and shape us into His chosen vessel. A personal prophecy to me as a very young believer...... "Thou are a strong horse, and thou must be tamed.".

  22. What you use to attract people is what you must use to keep people. So attract people by preaching the Word. Down with the circus and up with Jesus. It is the preaching of the cross that calls out the believers from the world. John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

  24. I definitely think one can be overly religious. People can practice rituals and do acts without knowing why they are actually doing them. One can be born into Christianity but not have a true relationship with God, they can go to church every Sunday and do everything theyve beem taught by their parents when it comes to a true relationship with Christ but have never truly put their trust in God. Theologians can know their bible backwards and forwards yet not love others which is one of Jesus's greatest commandments. I live in a country where most everyone practises rituals and traditions, and read their basic bible stories yet have never even picked up a bible and don't know they can pray to God for help, to me that would be the definition of overly religious. Now if you mean this James 1:27 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. Then no you can never look after too many widows and orphans and you can never protect yourself from pollution of the world too much.?

  25. The Pharisees could have been said to be "overly-religious". I have always learned that Christianity is a relationship, not a religion. The Pharisees were religious legalists who were devoted to the laws and traditions, instead of being devoted to God Himself. There are people like them nowadays too. They worry and debate over whether the Sabbath is on Sunday or Saturday, and whether you can eat shellfish because they're supposed to be "unclean". I think of Jesus' words when He said, "What is that to thee? Follow thou me." (John 21:22)
