  1. No I don't hold to those beliefs I didn't know about some people thinking Jesus was black at all, I apologize for reacting the way I did is not me, but it sounded odd to me the black mother statement I was alittle confused about that until I read your post on that. thank you Willa for replying to me and helping me to see things in different ways and teaching me about that.

  2. MAY 24, 2014 BY JACK WELLMAN 10 COMMENTS 408 God is holy but what exactly does the word holy mean? What does the Bible define as holy? Root Word for Holy The Hebrew word for holy is “qodesh” and means “apartness, set-apartness, separateness, sacredness” and I would add that it should also be “otherness, transcendent and totally other” because God is totally above His creation and His creatures, including us. Holy has the idea of heaviness or weight of glory. In the New Testament, the word for holy is “hagios” and means set apart, reverend, sacred, and worthy of veneration.” This word applies to God because God Himself is totally other, separate, sacred, transcendent, reverend, and set apart from every created thing. Since God is spirit this is why the Third Person of the Trinity is called the Holy Spirit. He too is fully God and all three Persons of the Trinity are holy and have the weight of glory abounding in them. Holy, Holy, Holy God has many attributes just like I do. I am a father, a husband, a son, an uncle and so on but God is merciful, patient, longsuffering, and abounding in love but the only attribute of God that is mentioned three times is apparently His predominant attribute. He is not just holy, but He is holy, holy, holy. In Jewish liturgy, when something is incredibly important, it is mentioned twice. Jesus does this when He says something twice like “verily, verily” but this is also signifies great intimacy when He repeats someone’s name twice like Moses, Moses; Abraham, Abraham; Saul, Saul…but when something is mentioned three times in a row, it is off the charts in importance and this is why of all the attributes of God He is holy, holy, holy. That is the greatest emphasis that can be put on anything or anyone in Scripture and this is telling us that this is the most important thing about God. God is holy, holy, holy. This is the only attribute of God that is mentioned in the Scriptures three times!

  3. This is ridiculous! That you could take his post as a personal attack is unbelievable. If you hold these beliefs, they are false beliefs but they are not who you are. At least I hope that you don't consider the ideologies friend listed to be your identity because they certainly all contain a false gospel.

  4. Going to add this because it needs to be said. Just because someone disagrees with you does not mean they hate you. The whole "hate" thing comes from Saul Alinsky's book. "Isolate and demonize" - quite the popular Liberal thing to do (to the opposition.) Truly hating someone would likely involve not pointing out the error they may be involved in and just letting them go their own way without pointing it out. For the lost that could mean dying without Christ. For the believer it could mean giving an account to Lord for it, and that would probably not be a good experience. The rest could have been said without playing the victim - something that Liberals also love to do.

  5. Hi, just can't let that one stand, without this major exception being noted- "When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had long desired to see him, because he had heard about him, and he was hoping to see some sign done by him. So he questioned him at some length, but he made no answer. The chief priests and the scribes stood by, vehemently accusing him. And Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt and mocked him. Then, arraying him in splendid clothing, he sent him back to Pilate. And Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day, for before this they had been at enmity with each other. Pilate then called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was misleading the people. And after examining him before you, behold, I did not find this man guilty of any of your charges against him. Neither did Herod, for he sent him back to us. Look, nothing deserving death has been done by him. I will therefore punish and release him.” I suggest that there are times for response and times for silence for not every question is worthy of answer, and certainly not just to engage in vain debate. From Proverbs comes this: "Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me. 29 Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord, 30 would have none of my counsel and despised all my reproof, 31 therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way, and have their fill of their own devices." God does not answer very question just because it is asked, demanded or prayed about. He will remain silent for even 400 years in some instances.

  6. Hi, and again welcome. Welcome to general discussion and all that comes with it. Very interesting history/testimony, much like that which many of us also have as our rearview mirror image. Yes come as one is, but my question for myself then becomes; does one just stay there? As I am, or or do I work at the Christianity I now want to espouse by taking full responsibility as an adult accountable human, one accountable to God? Seems to me that at some point in life I have to stop using my own heritage, environment and personal history as cause for today's actions and my own plight. I need to go forward without trotting out my past as my crutch and as my own excuse for my "feelings" and then using my feelings to justify action. I too can find fault in my parentage- and so? I can find fault in any church too, - and so? Guess what, it is not all about me and my experiences and my feelings and how I am mistreated. I need to suck it up and be responsible to God for me. I cannot use the well God it is this way I had a hard time in life growing up. So what about my girlfriend that I am living with as though she is my wife, yet I do not commit to marriage and all that it intails because that is a hard commitment to keep? Well, hmm, guess I had better reconcile my excuses with the desire and command of my creator. Try that one at age 74, it isn't easy, but it is right in the sight of God. ----- On a lighter note: but a serious one; there is the old adage- I felt sorry for myself because I had no shoes, until I met a man without any feet. And then there is the real life example of one who has no feet nor any hands at all, yet he climbs mountains and has excelled at competitive wrestling. His motto; No hands -No feet - no excuses. As the movie line goes;"What if this is as good as it gets?" The answer is; then that is perfect! For it is the will of God for my further sanctification. So I will suck it up persevere and work at being the bond-servant that does go the extra mile, even when it hurts and is much easier to trot out my excuses, my parents this, my mate that the churches they do this and that and then another. No excuses! Thanks for the mirror and reminder that perhaps near everyone gets tempted to trot out excuses to try on each other before trying them on God.

  7. Now I am on a memory lane journey regarding fellowship; remembering a smallish church body of some 75 including kids that had a grand spirit of helps, and took care of it's widows and it's poor kids. They would indeed tend to yards, paint exteriors, fix toilets, buy a new washer and dryer for a widow, all as bond-servants of Jesus. They would just do it, not make a big thing of it. Often doing it informally. The comradery/fellowship was outstanding. Another a mega-church of about 3500 had cells small groups that did similar and the fellowship was outstanding. Yet another of some 500 plus, has young strong men and women helping quietly in the name of Jesus, plus the older and perhaps more knowledgeable in the trades paint, put in entire septic systems, and air conditioners, then sit share some pizza together and have some time of prayer and grand fellowship. The remembering of the quiet manner in which the tasks where tackled, and done to near perfection, is a lift to the spirit that continues across time itself and continues beyond time the fellowship of and with those saints. May God bless them greatly. Thanks Sharky and George for the fun introduction to the subject and the opening to those memories for me this early morning.

  8. Ha LOL! Yes the widow's lawn can be cleverly avoided. Yet for the cause of Christ, may I suggest not only go mow the widow's lawn, also schedule it to be done without being asked again, and trim the hedges too, all without seeking any personal credit. If it is hot might see that the AC works, and that she has transportation to church, and access to a grocer also. Do so in a manner that brings Glory to God, never leaving self open to any reproach. Sign up with the deacon(s) in charge of the widow's work days and also with the benevolent committee at church if in doubt as to what needs are within the local body of Christ Jesus. This is also the work of fellowship, as much so as any free church potluck luncheon and the evening sit arounds and Bible studies. May God bless and strengthen each local body of Christ Jesus, - Amen.

  12. Augh I just did it. I am in one of my insomniac modes. Happens especially when I get my spinal injection of basically a steroid medicine. Whooie those hurt abit. It is now 4 AM, and as I wandered around the Worthy Christian Forums and devotionals I found a devotional that I want to consider and study. So.. I hit print. And sure enough my printer came to life with it's blinks sounds alerts and high speed clatter. I now hear my poor bride awake and coughing abit disturbed by the noise of the "night printer", as I look up at the corner of my screen and see oh, oh, it's 4:18 AM. I imagine that later this AM I will hear about this weird dream that woke my wife up, that she dreamed she was caught inside a computer printer and couldn't get away from it's noise. Can't imagine - odd dream eh? Herbal tea or coffee this morning dear Peach? Sorry that you had such a dream. Probably nothing, just a quirky thing you know. (It is a good devotion btw.) Seek one out for yourself, good stuff for the mind and soul, even at 4 AM if you are in insomnia mode and want to receive some benefit. ps- The spelling of insomnia just didn't look right to me so I typed it on a search bar window, and yes it is correctly spelt- but look what I found out! Did you know there is a company called Insomnia Cookies? They deliver warm cookies until 3 AM. Wow that's weird, wonder if they deliver here? Warm cookies at three AM and a good devotion to read an study, wow life can be grand. Food for the soul plus the belly each bringing it's own comforts. One just of the moment one of eternal benefit

  13. . Likewise I was compassionate to you, Pinkbelt, about what you went through. Like Estrella I hope you will find a Bible believing church where Jesus is proclaimed. There are good Bible believing churches that are very loving and supportive. You just need to visit some different churches. You had bad experiences with one church but that doesn't mean all churches are like that. I did look at the website of the Red Letter movement (was not familiar with this movement) and I was very surprised at the content...very liberal views, even being concerned that abortion will be over turned!!

  16. The criticism was not directed to an individual but to the new age and the false ridiculous teaching of the post modern churches. Some have decided that Jesus was a black man, as in Black Liberation Theology taught at Harvard and elsewhere. That was the allusion to race. We are discussion issues, not any one person here. The truth is that Jesus was the same color as middle eastern people of the Mediterranean region, not that skin color is important at all. God looks at us as saved or not saved.

  17. ED ZACH LEE does agree . THE WORDS of JESUS and the APOSTLES were one and the same . No apostles letters CONTRADICTED A THING JESUS SAID, IT COMPLIMENTED and AGREED WITH ALL HE SAID . THOSE men were UNDER THE HOLY SPIRIT . MR LEE agrees . Its such a sad tragedy that folks use JESUS RED LETTERS , and OUT OF TEXT TO SUPPORT a gospel that don't exist , social , all inclusive . THESE so called red letter ones , IF BRIAN MCLAREN is one of them , SHOO WEEE, that shows that movement is way OFF. No wonder folks came after me when I said I LOVE THOSE RED LETTERS , folks like McLaren DONT even LOVE those red letters . IF THEY DID , why on earth are they teaching WHAT THEY DO NOW . JESUS SAYINGS are KEY , AS are the apostels WHO EXPOUNDED ON THEM . FOR the HOLY SPIRIT brought remembrance of all HE SAID to them. ITS WHAT the COMFORTER DOES . Brian is false as false can be . HE don't love Christ or the red letters, IF HE DID , he would have loved what the apostels WHO WERE OF CHRIST also said . YEAH, when picking and choosing begins , YA can rest assured they serve the god of self and pick and choose WHAT they want to do and what they do not want to hear and do . EXPOSE IT Yowm .

  18. Hello PinkBelt, just to say that i understand the difficulties you went through growing up where you did and the kind of marriage you dealt with and the church. Sure, no one is perfect and to obey Christ 100% is no bed of roses, but by God's mercy and grace, we want to finish the race we have started in Christ. Salvation is in Christ alone. I pray that you would find a bible believing church that has Christ as the centre and as the head of church. Prayerfully, you would continue your walk in Christ, also for your daughter to be in Christ. God bless.

  32. I found this interesting (from Bibles for America) Although many verses reveal the wonderful truth that Christ is in His believers, we’ll highlight just eight here. 1. “But if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, the spirit is life because of righteousness.”—Romans 8:10 We human beings were created by God with a body on the outside and a soul and spirit on the inside. Our spirit is our deepest part, created to contact and receive the Spirit of God. When we received Jesus as our Savior, He cleansed us of our sins and He came into our spirit as life. Thus, because Christ is in us, our “spirit is life because of righteousness.” 2. “Because the God who said, Out of darkness light shall shine, is the One who shined in our hearts to illuminate the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God and not out of us.”—2 Corinthians 4:6-7 The apostle Paul describes the believers as earthen vessels that contain “this treasure.” What is this treasure? It is Jesus Christ, in whose face we see the glory of God. Christ lives in us earthen vessels as a precious treasure, revealing to us the glory of God from within. 3. “But when it pleased God…to reveal His Son in me.”—Galatians 1:15-16 We might think this verse should read, “It pleased God…to reveal His Son to me.” But in the original language of the New Testament, Greek, the verse reads “to reveal His Son in me.” God’s plan is to reveal His Son in us, from within, rather than to us, from without. Or, to put it another way, God reveals Christ to us from within us. To those who have Christ in us, God is pleased to reveal in us more of the wonderful Person of Christ. 4. “I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me.”—Galatians 2:20 Here, Paul did not say “I live in a Christ-like way,” or, “I glorify Christ through my behavior.” No, he said, “Christ…lives in me,” clearly telling us that Christ lives in His believers. The Christian life is not a matter of behaving like Christ, but of allowing Christ Himself to live in and through us. 5. “My children, with whom I travail again in birth until Christ is formed in you.”—Galatians 4:19 Paul viewed the believers in Galatia as his spiritual children. He had labored to help them receive Christ at their salvation, and in this verse, he continues to labor on them so that the Christ they received would be fully formed in them. Christ lives in us from the time we are saved, but He wants to be formed in us in a definite way. Day by day, we need to give Him the opportunity to be formed in us. As we do, Christ will be able to express Himself more fully through us in our daily life. 6. “That Christ may make His home in your hearts through faith.”—Ephesians 3:17 When we believed into Christ, He came to live in our spirit, the deepest part of our being. But Christ also wants to make His home in the rest of our inward being: our hearts and our souls. By living in our spirit, Christ is the new source of our new life. But our soul—our mind, emotion, and will—can still choose to ignore Him as our new source and go on just as before. In this case, Christ is in us, but He’s limited in us, kept only in our spirit. So He cannot be expressed through us very much. The Lord Jesus wants to make His home not only in our spirit, but also in all the parts of our soul. 7. “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”—Colossians 1:27 This verse shows that Christ is in us in a particular way: as our hope of glory. When we believed in Him, Christ came to live in our spirit. Now He is making His home in our hearts. In the future, when He returns, He will even spread to our body outwardly so that God’s glory can shine through us in a full way. The Christ who lives in us is our hope of such glory. 8. “When He comes to be glorified in His saints and to be marveled at in all those who have believed.”—2 Thessalonians 1:10 Christ’s second coming will surely be a marvel. But according to this verse, the most marvelous thing will not be the outward display of His coming; it will be His glory revealed from within His believers. The Christ in us, who lives in us and is being formed in us, will be revealed from within us, and even our bodies will be transformed to match Him. What a glory to God, a marvel to man, and a shame to the devil, that people on this earth would choose to receive Christ and allow Him to grow in them and express Himself through them throughout their lives!

  43. Well, theres some truth to be learned for this. For a couple to stay together they need to have something in common. For some people its education. My wife has a far higher level of education then i do, and continues to increase it. I on the other hand have no interest in further education. But, on the same note i have a solid idea of what shes talking about from self study. Couples do need to have common ground....and for some education is important, and is that common ground. In the above scenario its probably best for both parties that she left, a further relationship probably would have ended disastrously. Now they are both able to seek partners who share common goals.

  45. Our treasure is Jesus. We are but earthen vessels. 2Co 4:6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2Co 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. 2Co 4:8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 2Co 4:9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— 2Co 4:10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 2Co 4:11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 2Co 4:12 So then death is working in us, but life in you. 2Co 4:13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I BELIEVED AND THEREFORE I SPOKE," we also believe and therefore speak, 2Co 4:14 knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you. 2Co 4:15 For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God. 2Co 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 2Co 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding andeternal weight of glory, 2Co 4:18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
