  1. One of the main reasons that I write this is for other people who are struggling with loneliness. There is at least another person out there who understands what your going through. I have found over the years that if you have no car, money, or family. You will largely be left alone except for perhaps holidays. Church isn't really good at giving a home for single poorer people. Generally the excuses are I have a job and a family I have no time. Another one is nobody spends any time with anyone else because everyone is busy. You will get a lot of your never alone God is always with you. You may even get you have made peoples love your idol. I don't think others understand that being close to other Christians is very important. This means wayy more than 15 minutes on Sunday after the service. They don't get that its hard to grow without real and true community. I think a lot of well meaning people just want to have it all in this life. They think that just because they don't pursue millions of dollars or fame that that means that they aren't pursuing this life. Yet they spend almost 0 time with people who can't give anything to them. The real reason why singles don't go to church is there is seriously not a home for them there. There won't be many invitations to come over and hang out after church. There won't be many come hang out with us during the week. I am not saying this to depress anyone and I truly hope that you and I find a place where professing Christians will truly be our family. Don't be surprised if you encounter this. Also, don't give up God. The story of the poor man Lazarus used to really terrify me, but now it is a reminder that yes God does love me(and you)even if the church won't make us a part of their family.

  2. I know that we are each on our own journey with God and that things can be interpreted differently depending on our life experiences. Last night as I was struggling to sleep and pray. Some thoughts came to mind and I wondered if others had a list of things they wished they had learned in Church or that could've been taught better? This is one of those lists that I didn't know that I didn't know, if you know what I mean? I have come to some understanding with this list but thought it would be insightful to see other's lists. Here's mine: - How to pray -- Some say anywhere and anyway that you can, others have a ritual to it. Give thanks, ask forgiveness, and let our requests be known. I pray both ways, hopefully it's ok. I was stuck in the more ritualistic side of prayer and really needed to know it was okay to pray throughout the day or just talk to God in general. I have found he answers prayer either way. - Why memorizing Bible verses is important. We teach our children to memorize verses, but do we tell them why? It is also just as important for adults to memorize verses, this is our best defense against worry, depression, stress and attacks. - How to get through suffering and the loss of a loved one (my church really let me down on this one, took me 8 years work through this and it is only by God that I was able to accept it) - Why God sometimes doesn't answer prayer and that we should ask for understanding when he doesn't. This is not meant to be a negative post about Church, more a post on how we can help each other learn things that may or may not be commonly talked about or is assumed knowledge at church. Up until 8 years ago, I went to church weekly for most of my adult life and didn't know the above until just this past year.

  3. Hi all, The storm is passing by here, the center way way to the west of us that are out on the peninsula of Pinellas County Fl. It will soon hit hard though into the panhandle and then evidently remain a severe storm-hurricane all the way up into Georgia and South Carolina. What happens from there I haven't seen mentioned. Will it go into the Atlantic and then away, or up again as a large storm into New York - New England? It is going to be absolutely devastating if it continues at 145MPH into the panhandle along with the 12 foot storm surge. The surge will swing both east and west, having a lesser affect here with only a 2 to 4 foot surge of water, but just north of here my own relatives will likely have water go through their home yet again. I am so thankful the storm is way west of here, even though we are getting storms and have possibility of tornadoes from the outer bands. I am also in prayer for all those not so fortunate today. May all have left the areas of danger. May the many thousands of individuals that are ready to come in and rebuild infrastructure after the storm passes be safe in their travel and heavy work to come. The economic impact will be severe, insurance companies once again will start to bail out of florida I suppose, and cost of living here will be going up. Even stonger building standards will be coming, all that stuff will be affecting us way after the storm is a distant memory. All of which is strong reminder that all we cherish in the way of gathered things of afluence are just a puff away from disappearing without even a remnant left behind. Our security is in our Lord and savior Jesus, today as everyday is a day to share of His sacrifice made for us that we may have eternal life with Him. Praise God for the sacrifice made willing by His Son that we may have security beyond that which we build of sticks stones blocks and paper money.

  4. You're right. They should, but often they get ignored. It's no fun when you're the one who always needs a ride to some fellowship gathering at a restaurant, etc. and don't have the money either. It makes the yuppies uncomfortable. You get treated differently - because you're "different" from everyone else, and because its a reminder of what might happen to them if they miss a few too many paychecks. I get it that most have their families and all that, and that's to be expected, but these days no room is made for singles at many churches. There are exceptions to that, so its not a blanket statement. This seems to be a problem mainly in the US as I haven't really seen it all that much in other countries I've lived and worked in. The church I go to is small, but they do teach the Bible as the Word of God - but there's no hope of finding a wife there for me. I'm the only single person, except for a few of the recovery guys that come with me on occasion. That's not a complaint, that just the way things are - especially in an era when everyone seems to be absorbed in their phones/tablets/media devices.

Most people, even the criminals, atheists and hardcore's had a fear / reverence for God, preachers and the police; and at least bit their tongues in respect. My, my, how our enlightened tolerate society has changed since then.

If this is not the thought that prompts and controls his worship and prayers and his whole outlook on life, it means that he does not understand Christianity very well at all.’ (Lee Stroebel, The Case for Grace) 1 Cor 6:18......"And I will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty" Gal 3:26......"For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus" Gal 4:7........"Thou art no more a servant, but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God thru Christ" John 1:12....."But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name" 1 John 3:1......" 16. When a woman is ready to give birth, is she looking for the birth pangs or the baby? The baby, of course. But she knows that in order to get there, the birth pangs come first. I eagerly await Christ's return but realize that there will be birth pangs first. I understand being "awake" to mean not being seduced by the things of this world or distracted by the cares of life. We are to keep our affections on things above, not the things of this world that will pass away. We are to act on the teachings of Jesus and in so doing, we will become wise and ready for His return. A person who's awake will worship God in spirit and truth by doing the will of God. Being ready and alert for His return has everything to do with lifestyle worship, and little to do with eschatology.

  17. Not a question, rather just a comment on a thought that was triggered by a verse in this passage. In Ephesians 1:19 it says, “ speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord.” When I was a child I would sit on our swing outside by myself and make up songs to God. I didn’t write them down and often couldn’t remember the words or notes, but I was singing them from my heart to God. Or when I was riding on the lawnmower I would create music just to sing to the Lord. Maybe that is why I still like mowing so much to this day! ? Even though I am older now, I still create my own songs to God. I will often sing them while on a drive, road trip, or travels across country with my husband or family. The fact that they were/are one time only to me makes them more special, just for my King! Thanks for letting me share a pleasant childhood memory! Have a blessed day all!

  18. (Worthy News) - Christian conservatives and pro-life advocates are praising California's Democrat Gov. Jerry Brown for his veto of a bill that would have required all state universities to provide access to abortion-inducing drugs. Brown vetoed SB 320, also known as the "College Student Right to Access Act," on Sunday. The bill would have required health centers at the 34 University of California or California State University campuses to offer abortion pills (RU-486) to students so they could terminate their pregnancies in their dorm rooms, and abortion clinics wouldn't have to incur the cost of bio-hazard waste disposal following the student's abortion. If enacted, the bill would have taken effect in 2020. Although the bill passed the Senate in January, Brown reasoned that such a requirement is not needed. 23. Some people think that Christians should be free from all trouble (and the logical conclusion to draw is that if God warns us of difficulties ahead, we should assume that He wants us to avoid them). But Paul saw things differently; he saw Agabus' prophecy not as guidance but as a test of his commitment. Going to Jerusalem was very important to him because he was taking the money collected from his churches to help the poor in Judea - a vital demonstration of the unity of the Jewish and Gentile sections of the Church.

  24. Hi Marilyn thank you for your reply again, i appreciate it i just want to say i am not against changes, Marilyn, thank you for pointing out i need to show by mine action my willingness to help out, which i have already started doing. to be honest, the biggest issues that facing me right now, as you know, is my health, specifically cognitive impairment, i don't know what is going on, but it is scary to see things declining steadily. so with the drug, it is not just whether or not it is working, that is not mine biggest concerns right now, it is to have people listen to me and take me seriously when i tell them about my symptoms of cognitive impairment, and be willing to help..... have i told you i will be failing all my papers this semester because of the cognitive impairment issue? not only that i am scared that the issue might become permanent? i am scared Marilyn, try to put yourself in mine shoes. your reading comprehension is declining, you don't know how much further it will decline, you have no idea if it will be permanent or not, will there be other complications, you are also failing your papers, but more importantly, if this whole thing becomes permanent, it will impact on your future because you won't be able to return to University anymore and get a qualification so you have have a decent job to support yourself etc ,i feel like i am starring into a dark hole here. if it is the side effects of the medication, then it is frightening for someone who is experiencing it, the whole idea we should continue the medication or even up it simply because of mine father's pathologizing is frightening to me....... i don't know if you are parent yourself (i didn't see any posts of yours where you mentioned it). but let say you have a son who is a bit untidy, and instead of communicate with him to make a change, because it is not uncommon for a guy to be a bit untidy, you pathologize it and decided it must be the sign of his illness and then keep going to doctors to get the doctor to up the dosage of medications that has some pretty serious short term and long term and life long side effects, is that the way to go? this becomes a vicious cycle that will only harm me significantly in the end. my intention is not trying to be defensive or smart here, Marilyn, i am genuinely scared because this whole issue with untidiness is a manifestation of my parent's mentality, and they will keep doing this with the help of the doctor, what will become of me? the kind of drugs we are talking about here is no child's game........

  25. Hullo Lilfox, I'm hoping you will minister to the problems you list. If you can associate with and gather with like-minded people to address any issues that you discern then you will be functioning in the body of Christ as God intended. It maybe that God is speaking to you about something he wants you to pursue for His glory. It's easy to say, "It's not my problem", until God says "Well I'm making it your problem, so trust me to use you to be part of the solution."

  26. Sorry for the delay and thank you for your consideration in trying not to involve me in this cantankerous debate .I don’t care to wade in with my 2 cents. i have been having trouble trying to figure out how to respond to your post —— it’s kinda all over the place, no insult intended . I agree that there is no “ one size fits all” when it comes to preaching the Gospel—- all Paul seemed to care about was getting the message out.He was kinda sneaky about it.He would be one thing to one group and he could feign interest and respect for those that had many false gods , patiently waiting until he got the chance to talk about the idol dedicated to the “ unknown god”.He always seemed to go out of his way to be kind and patient with his audience— no hint of a slobbering, finger- pointing message of condemnation a la Jimmy Swaggert. In your continuing debate, I think It would be of great value to see how Paul actually handled things. An excellent example one could follow is how he handled King Agrippa......sorry.....gotta go....got daughter trouble....I will try to continue tomorrow......please read Acts 26 to see how Paul handled repentance, etc and we can take it from there while learning from the best......apologies again.... Back.......PLEASE pray for my daughter.....God bless you all Back to Agrippa......Paul informed this King what Jesus told him to do and he explained how he went about things. Jesus told Paul the reason He chose him.Paul was sent to be a witness to the things Jesus taught him—- to open the eyes and deliver people from the power of Satan and that they could be delivered from sin and receive forgiveness by faith in Him. He preached repentance and turning to God and doing good works to show that they had repentant hearts.Seems to be a lot of sin and Satan stuff in Paul’s message.Perhaps your preaching of the Gospel should resemble Paul’s manner to get better results.I think I understand what you mean with your method.A man could hear the Gospel and not immediately respond with faith, but years later could remember it and respond correctly with belief in it ,IF and WHEN he saw how desperately he needed it.That could be a terrible gamble to take.He May never get that future chance. “ Fear Of God is the BEGINNING of Wisdom”. Moses was the friend of God but shook in terror at His presence . Jeremiah said that the fear of God causes man to depart from evil.I know from my own experience that I had no use for God until I saw the truth of what I was in God’s eyes and had the you- know-what scared out of me.Funny how an agnostic fool can be turned around so quickly when confronted with the reality of Hell. The change of mind that happened to me that changed my entire life has to be the repentance God wants for Salvation. As I have said before, I changed from a person who was deluded and quite content in my Fool’s Paradise That said “ I’m good enough” to a person who could only say, “God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” I would advise any Soul-Winner to convince a man he is subject to some very, very bad news before I told him the “ Good News”. Convince your audience what they need to see - the whole scary picture— while you have them listening. You are leaving them short with a timid Gospel if you don’t. on another note .....I agree with your thoughts on unbelief.......Christ died for every sin ever committed......The sins of Adolf Hitler were paid for 2000 years ago.....He is in Hell today because of his unbelief......just like your average Joe Schmoe non- Believer........their sins were forgiven, but because of unbelief they did not “ cash - in”, so to speak.....(Sorry Adolf for using you for an example all the time)

  27. That was the bigger take away for me too. Jesus didn't reject all the "sinners" that surrounded Him during His earthly ministry and we should not either as His followers. Tough calling sometimes, because the negativity can really grind on you after awhile but we have Christ to help us. We were dead in sin before salvation and God didn't reject us.

  28. That was a general statement that was nothing more than a cautionary observation. Take it or leave it. Brother, I'm not going to argue over things that will work themselves out. We're responsible for being ready, for worshiping God in spirit and truth, not arguing incessantly until the cows come home. Feel free to believe whatever eschatology you want. I honestly don't care and ultimately, it really doesn't matter. What matters is that we stay awake and remain faithful regardless of what comes our way. When we get to heaven, and if you were actually correct, you can get up on the kitchen table and do your victory dance. Until then, I'm content to let things unfold according to the will of God because arguing about it doesn't change a thing.

Native Americans have alot to say about these people and where i live there are mounds where they have found some interesting corpses. Other places around the world have also found interesting corpses that were not forged and neither were they merely deformed. Skulls that were board wrapped are different in structure than skulls born to have that shape. the number of bones and the sutures of the skull are different. as for the article posted i am honestly skeptical about its trustworthiness. however i am just a common everyday person.

For it is a good thing that THE HEART BE ESTABLISHED WITH GRACE; NOT WITH MEATS, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. Do that if you are truly exhausted though. What I am saying is set your alarm and try sitting in your bed for 20 minutes on your pillow and just relax with your eyes closed. It does wonders to pick you up for the rest of the day and it feels like a reset for you. Shalom ☺

  35. God is sovereign. If we're in a situation its because He is using for His purposes in our life - whether we like it, agree with it, or not. I spent many years with no car in an area that requires one if you want a decent paying job. I survived by riding the bus and working nights so I could get to work and back. Did lots of over time too because it didn't pay enough, but it was all that was available. The Lord used some difficult circumstances to show me a few things in the process. Part of that is if you can't find fellowship at a given church on Sunday or during the week (if schedule allows) then you probably need to pray and start looking at other churches. While that was going on a brother recommended getting involved in some volunteer work even if it wasn't church related, so I gave it a try. I discovered there are lots of potential "mission fields" out the local area. I started with some nearby recovery meetings (because I'm a drug addict that Jesus cleaned up) and found some other believers at several. We made connections with others and found a few places we could all get to on the bus/mountain bike. We made our own community. There's also time at the local rescue mission. I've had people tell me the only reason they'll listen to me talk about Christ is because they see at meetings or the mission on a regular basis. That was a bit of a shock at first, until I realized they were looking for something real - because you get lied to a lot on the street. Someone who's real will stick out like a sore thumb (in a good way.) This stuff didn't happen overnight. It took years of showing up, but God has His own schedule.

Often there is literally nothing you can do to get people to include you. I know that you might want to think better of people who go to church but Ill tell you its not that way. if your car was taken and your money and your vocational and social skills were all taken and then you moved I promise you it would feel impossible to find people to connect with. I know that people want to think highly of people who go to church. They are gigantic sinners that are clean on the outside.

My son also met his future bride through their friends of multi church groups that would hang out together. For myself I have found, to have friends, I have to be friendly.
