  2. Scripture says; Luke 16:10 (NASB) "He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much. “faithful in a very little thing”. Scripture calls us to be faithful in a very little thing, as a steppingstone to the greater thing. If we fail to be faithful in the small things is it a wonder we’re not entrusted with that which would be considered a larger thing? As believers who would be pleasing to our Creator in both large and small things, let us, as He has said be faithful in the small things. So as scripture says; James 4:10 (NASB) Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you. It is the small things that we must be found faithful in first. But what does in mean to be found faithful in the small things? Prayer? Bible reading? Sharing Christ? All these things are good and proper. But what is still lacking? You can have all these things and still not be found faithful in the small things. For if you don’t have the one ingredient to add to all the above, your building castles in the air with your own imagination and self effort. What is that one thing? ...... Righteousness. So what is one to do? When the Spirit of Christ in your heart, brings something to your attention, don’t think it’s to small a thing to worry about. For at that moment of time, that is the obedience God is calling you to. For at that moment of time, that is the standard to which you have obtained. Whether it be a large or small thing. For to be inwardly directed by the Peace of Christ in your heart is what we have been called to. Paying attention to the Peace of Christ in our hearts, and it’s nudgings, in the small things, is that that causes us to grow into the larger things. We have all been called to the larger things, but as new born babes we have to be found faithful in the small things first. For God’s heart is set on our growth and obedience in the small things, is that that comes first. So let us agree with Him, that that too, is what our hearts are set upon. For God would have His children, all His children, walk in newness of life, which is walking in righteousness before Him in the here and now. Blessings, as wise builders, we strive to build, and make this a living reality in our life’s. Much love in Christ, Not me

  3. When I think of being faithful in small things, I often think of small practical things a Christian might do for another....like a senior citizen who is unable to do certain things or has difficulty doing something, or is lonely, etc. It might be a small thing to do for us but might mean so much to someone else. Also, as we are faithful in doing the small things, the Lord will often open doors to bigger things.

  4. Yes but someone who is dependent upon the government is less likely to have that determination. People are short sighted...people on welfare are more likely to vote democrat...why? Because of the money theyre afraid a Republican will cut their welfare check. As the old saying goes give a man a fish youll feed them for a day. Teach a man to fish and youll feed him for a lifetime. The governments form of help is give a man a fish a day and they will always do your bidding...Because after awhile they will have lost all motivation to learn how to fish.

  5. Exodus 7:6-10:29 New King James Version (NKJV) 6 Then Moses and Aaron did so; just as the Lord commanded them, so they did. 7 And Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh. Aaron’s Miraculous Rod 8 Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 9 “When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Show a miracle for yourselves,’ then you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your rod and cast it before Pharaoh, and let it become a serpent.’ ” 10 So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the Lord commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

  6. Blessings, In a situation like this, I find it hard to believe that his heart was not pricked toward proper behavior. It is in the small things obedience is learned. Whether or not he wanted to continue doing the job is a separate issue. But the will to listen to what the Peace of Christ in one’s heart is saying. These lessons are for all God’s children that would follow Him truly. Whether one wanted to be a Missionary or a Gardener, the Spirit of Christ is the same in both. Righteousness is righteousness. To all, torwards all, in all circumstances and situations. It is obedience in the small that causes great increase and growth. Blessings, Much love in Christ, Not me

  7. Humility and willingness are really big requirements, as is diligence. I have a neighbor who wants to be a missionary. I hired him to help with weekly yard work for just my back yard. He came weekly or every other week for a couple of months and then he just stopped coming. He didn't say anything to me or his family. He just stopped. I paid him $10. per week for working about 15 minutes.

  8. Hi I am a Christian looking for some good advice. I came here because I can’t ask my parents about this. They are the problem. I am 16 years old with three siblings and all of them and my parents are saved. My parents have been married for over 20 years and I noticed a few months ago that they were acting different. They have started to fight on a regular basis and it is getting worse every time. They have also started to sleep in different rooms and on one occasion my dad left for a few days and went to stay at a hotel. I have overheard a couple of fights and the last one seemed pretty bad. They were saying things like “This whole relationship I have been trying to dance around and try to not make you mad”, not in those words but it had that meaning. Most of my life before my dad went to work every morning they would hug each other and tell each other that they love each other and they would say a prayer together every morning. Lately they hardly ever talk to each other unless it is to fight. I just don’t know what to do and I’m afraid of a divorce. Me and my older sibling (who is moved out now) are afraid to say anything because we know they will probably get mad at us and say it is none of our business. It has gotten so bad though that I feel a responsibility to take some action. Can someone please help!

  9. I don't see myself as an instrument for God. A tare if you will. I can't sing. I can't dance. I don't have much of a musical talent. When I watch the worship leaders before any sermon, and how they sing, and move, and give glory to God, that's not something I can do. I can play piano, but it's never to perfection. I get that what I see on stage has been greatly practiced beforehand, but even so, I'm not built this way. All I can seem to do is be sorrowful and constantly filled with regret over past and current choices in life. I thought that being saved was to be hopeful. Every day I'm 50/50, at best, on where I'll spend eternity and I can't overcome such thinking. I just don't have enough to give back in life, and I doubt my odds will ever get better than this. It hurts.

  10. How does God define a sinner? Are everyone born perfect (non-sinner) but become a sinner after he committed a sin? According to the bible in Romans 5:17-19, it is written that we are sinners because of Adam’s sin. Romans 5:17-19 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ! Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. This means that everyone is born into this world as a sinner. We do not get to choose whether we want to be born as a sinner or non-sinner. Why is this so? It is written in Genesis 5:3 that after Adam sinned, man is born in the likeness and image of Adam. Genesis 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth. Since Adam and Eve were the only couple on earth at the time, it is common sense to say that everyone are born in the likeness and image of them. I see Adam and Eve as if they are the mould and everyone is a product formed by the mould. When the mould is corrupted, everyone will end up corrupted. Therefore as a sinner, we sinned in thought, action and desire. Even after being saved and born again Christian, we still sin. As written by Paul in the bible in Romans 7:15-20. Romans 7:15-20 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. Why does Christian still sinning even after born again? When a person is born again as a Christian, God’s spirit in-dwell the believer. The believer’s soul is cleansed. But the body remains unchanged. There is still a part of us that wants to sin. If you are a true born again Christian, you will experience this struggle as descripted by Paul in Romans 7:22-24 Romans 7:22-24 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Therefore, I conclude that no one can stop sinning. If someone tells you that he is able to stop sinning, that person is a liar and has committed the sin of lying. A person who does not sin outwardly in action, does not mean that he will not sin in thought or desire. In Jeremiah 17:9, God descript the human heart as desperately wicked and deceitful. Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? If the core of our being is deceitful and wicked, then no wonder God does not accept our righteous works. For our righteous works may be tainted or motivated by selfish desires. Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Because of Adam’s disobedience, we are born sinners and no amount of good deeds or sacrifice on our part can redeem us from death. Thanks be to God who sent his son, Jesus who lived a sinless life and suffered our punishment to redeem us from death. By Jesus’ obedience, we are made righteous. Romans 5:19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. Although every Christians still sins and are not perfect, but God has put us In-Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Because when we are In-Christ, God see us as if we are Christ. We are righteous and holy because Christ is righteous and holy. God’s righteousness and holiness are gifts to us who believe in Jesus and his finished work. 1 John 4:17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. God will no longer judge us based on what we did. But God will judge us based on what Christ’s finished work. We are all accepted and perfected in-Christ.

  11. 1 Samuel 1-3 1 Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite: 2 And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children. 3 And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the Lord of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the Lord, were there. Samuel came into this world and was given existence in direct answer to prayer. He was born of a praying mother, whose heart was full of earnest desire for a son. He came into life under prayer surroundings, and his first months in this world were spent in direct contact with a woman who knew how to pray. It was a prayer accompanied by a solemn vow that if he should be given, he should be “lent unto the Lord,” and true to that vow, this praying mother put him directly in touch with the minister of the sanctuary and under the influence of “the house of prayer.” It was no wonder he developed into a man of prayer. We could not have expected otherwise with such a beginning in life and with such early environments. Such surroundings always make impressions upon children and tend to make character and determine destiny. He was in a favorable place to hear God when He spoke to him, and was in an atmosphere where it tended to his heeding the divine call which came to him. It was the most natural thing in the world when at the third call from heaven, when he recognized God’s voice, that his childish heart responded so promptly, “Speak, Lord, Thy servant heareth.” Quickly was there a response from his boyish spirit, of submission, willingness and prayer. Had he been born of a different sort of mother, had he been placed under different surroundings, had he spent his early days in contact with different influences, does any one for one moment suppose he could have easily heard the voice of God calling him to His service, and that he would have so readily yielded his young life to the God who brought him into being? Would a worldly home, with worldly surroundings, separated from the church of God, with a worldly-minded mother, have produced such a character as Samuel? It takes such influences and agencies in early life to produce such praying men as Samuel. Would you have your child called early into divine service and separated from the world unto God? Would you have him so situated that he will be called in childhood by the Spirit of God? Put him under prayer influences. Place him near to and directly under the influence of the Man of God and in close touch with that house which is called “the house of prayer.” Samuel knew God in boyhood. As a consequence, he knew God in manhood. He recognized God in childhood, obeyed Him and prayed unto Him. The result was that he recognized God in manhood, obeyed Him, and prayed unto Him. If more children were born of praying mothers, brought up in direct contact with “the house of prayer,” and reared under prayer environments, more children would hear the voice of God’s Spirit speaking to them, and would more quickly respond to those divine calls to a religious life. Would we have praying men in our churches? We must have praying mothers to give them birth, praying homes to color their lives, and praying surroundings to impress their minds and to lay the foundations for praying lives. Praying Samuels come from praying Hannahs. Praying priests come from “the house of prayer.” Praying leaders come from praying homes. – Taken from Prayer And Praying Men by E. M. Bounds.

  12. From the authors of 'The Good News About Marriage: Debunking Discouraging Myths about Marriage and Divorce'. Have We Been Lied To About the Divorce Rate? Another Propaganda Campaign Against the Church? We've all heard the following: 1) 50 percent of all marriages end in divorce; 2) most marriages that do happen to make it are, nonetheless, unhappy, and 3) Christians are just as likely to divorce as non-believers. http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2014/June/Church-Divorce-Rate-Way-Lower-than-Anyone-Thought/ http://www.westernjournalism.com/flash-christians-actually-far-less-likely-divorce/ This article shows the oft-mentioned divorce rate of 50% is too high for both believers andunbelievers. Synopsis: The original 50% figure was only a statistical projection of what researchers thought the divorce rate would become as they watched the divorce numbers rising in the 1970s and early 1980s when states began passing no-fault divorce laws. However, the 50% projection never became a reality. "But the divorce rate has been dropping," Feldhahn said. "We've never hit those numbers. We've never gotten close." Divorce Rate found by above study for first-time marriages (outside the church): 20 to 25% Divorce Rate found by above study for first-time marriages (inside the church): 17 to 25% lower than unbelievers (single digits/mid-teens). Also, "80 percent of marriages are happy." The 50-percent divorce figure is simply a myth based upon decades-old (and woefully inaccurate) speculation. As it turns out, the shelf-life for marriages in the U.S. has taken a sharp turn for the better since the 1970s and ’80s. “‘But the divorce rate has been dropping,’ Feldhahn said. ‘We’ve never hit those numbers [the 50 percent figure]. We’ve never gotten close.’” “And it’s even lower among churchgoers, where a couple’s chance of divorcing is more likely in the single digits or teens,” added CBN. As it turns out, your gut was right. It’s all nonsense – urban legend of a sort, propagated, most likely, by the same post-moderns who today seek to similarly undermine the God-designed institution of legitimate man-woman marriage by redefining it into oblivion. The Atlanta-based researcher and author realized the widespread belief that marriage failure is as bad in the Church as the rest of the world demoralizes Christians and can even cause them to question their faith. "For a pastor it means 'all my work doesn't mean very much,'" Feldhahn told CBN News. "For the average person in the congregation there's this subtle feeling like, 'If that's true: if on something as important as marriage, doing what the Bible says doesn't change anything, what does that mean about the Bible?'" Virginia Pastor Daniel Floyd, with Fredericksburg's Lifepoint Church, has seen how this can hurt people's faith. "Because a 50 percent divorce rate inside the church really just said the church makes no difference in your marriage," Floyd explained. "And that's quite an indictment of the church." Christian psychotherapist Angel Davis said the belief half of marriages fail can even give people permission to give up. "When you have something like a statistic like 50 percent, it gives you the option," she told CBN News. "It becomes an option in your mind." The actual divorce rate has never gotten close to 50 percent. Those who attend church regularly have a significantly lower divorce rate than those who don’t. Most marriages are happy. Simple changes make a big difference in most marriage problems. Most remarriages succeed. And finally, Divorce isn’t the greatest threat to marriage. Discouragement is.

  13. Hello there, I have just returned home from visiting family members. One talked of his favourite musicians, of his life and death, having been addicted to drink and drugs and finally taking his own life. Into my mind came a verse which has often come into my mind during this last year (1 Peter 2:11-12). 'Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. (1 Peter 2:11-12) 'That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.' (Ephesians 4:22-24) * I thank God that I was able to share this with him: for these fleshly lusts are 'deceitful lusts' which war against the soul: or the whole man, the body energized by the spirit of life making a living soul. * These lusts at their worst can become addictions, in which the body is deceived into dependence upon them: such as drink, drugs, and other cravings of the flesh best left unspoken. Leading to depravity or death. * As these verses show, we who are saved by grace, are to put on the new man, by faith: by reckoning on the total sufficiency of the finished work of Christ and His all-sufficent sacrifice for sin. For we have been identified with Christ in His death, burial, quickening, resurrection and ascension to God's right hand: this is the Spirit's baptism: so have died with Christ to the flesh and all it's claims, and been raised to newness of life before the Father, in Him. We are dead unto sin and alive unto God. Believe it! Rejoice in it! For the righteousness of God has been imputed to us, in Christ Jesus our Saviour, Lord and Head. Praise His Holy Name. In Christ Jesus Chris

  17. I think first of all you need to convince the homosexual that it is a sin through Biblical passages as well as natural, apologetic argumentation. I'd say it's the same or worse than any other sin. If the person refuses to repent of the sin, they can't be saved from the penalty of sin.

  21. This is a tough one since your siblings have moved out and you are alone at home. It would be a good idea if you and your siblings got together and sat down with your parents, letting them know you are concerned about their marriage. There is no need to get into the reasons why they are having trouble, but that you are well aware of the changes and it is your collective hope that they try to resolve their issues. If they can see how it is affecting you all, then they may turn their focus in a different direction. Maybe suggest marriage counseling from a christian counselor?

  22. Speaking for myself, I would never wish 'eternal death' on anyone. I don't even really know how to answer this, but I would hardly describe anything I've said as 'gleeful judgment', my whole aim in any of this regarding, in particular, the mark of the beast....is....will this condemn those eternally who take it and worship the beast, or is it forgivable- my own take on it is, it's not something that could be undone- there would seem to be, given the scripture about it in Revelation, eternal consequences for taking the mark, not the least being 'and the smoke...ascends forever and ever'....that alone scares me into telling anyone who would listen, 'no matter what, at whatever cost, do NOT take the mark, because you cannot undo what you have done if you do'. I've mentioned this in my posts before, the consequences of being wrong about whether or not this mark is something that can or cannot be undone is just far too great a risk to take. And in this case, at least in my eyes, better to err on the side of caution, and not take it. It doesn't make me 'gleeful' at those who might, it scares me to think that there are those who will think that if they do, there's a 'way back' eventually- it's just not worth taking that sort of chance.

  23. Our God worked out a plan of salvation before He created the earth. Why do you think that He has not provided the same message of the gospel to everyone on the earth from the beginning of time? Yes, God sent His Son so that none should perish but He and the message of salvation has been mocked around the world. Satan, has blinded men’s eyes and they have laughed at the gospel, denied the Saviour and killed the messengers. There is NO excuse for anyone today. Before the Tribulation God will make certain that all who are willing to accept His plan of redemption have had that opportunity. He is willing that non should perish. Once the Church is raptured, it will be hell on earth...people who rejected Him will have the opportunity to say “forgive me, Jesus I am sorry” but “NOT IF THEY TAKE THE MARK OF THE BEAST, OR WORSHIP HIM”. You can deny this as long as you will and it will not alter God’s plan. He does not need you to tell people about salvation during the Tribulation...He needs you to tell them NOW. Now is the acceptable hour not then. If you are hearing anything other than this you are being mislead. It is not a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant message. There are more Christianss in Africa, Asia, China, and in the further most parts of the earth than you give Our God credit for. He loves those who accept His Son. But if they reject His message it is on the individual just as it is on you and me and everyone here on Worthy. You speak about forgiveness during the current time..the CHURCH AGE but once the CHURCH is removed by the HOLY SPIRIT Who is holding back the enemy’s all out chaos, it will not be a time of peace and security. It will be everyone for himself. You must recall riots in LA and perhaps Detroit... that will be like the good old days.

  24. So true Debp, if we are obedient to God in the small things, He is faithful and just to give, require, offer, us the greater things to walk in. Which quite often, are such a blessing to us, as we could never have imagined, blessings, As I’m sure you know, and have tasted. There are many spiritual principles in the Bible that cover life itself. Thanks for your thoughts and insights, as we both feed our relationship with the One who is personally teaching us all things. For He teaches us, as He said, with His “eye upon us” Blessings Thanks for the smiles/joy this morning, SelahSong. For when I read the words; “when prompted by the Holy Spirit” they brought such a smile to my face, than to read; “are in God’s eyes very BIG indeed”. The smile turned to joy. As scripture says; we feed off of each other’s faith. Thanks for feeding and giving me strength this morning. Thanks for the muchity munch. Blessings, Much love in Christ, Not me

  26. Luke 16 English Standard Version (ESV) The Parable of the Dishonest Manager 16 He also said to the disciples, “There was a rich man who had a manager, and charges were brought to him that this man was wasting his possessions. And he called him and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Turn in the account of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’ And the manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg. I have decided what to do, so that when I am removed from management, people may receive me into their houses.’ So, summoning his master's debtors one by one, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ He said, ‘A hundred measures of oil.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’ Then he said to another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ He said, ‘A hundred measures of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’ The master commended the dishonest manager for his shrewdness. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light. And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous wealth, so that when it fails they may receive you into the eternal dwellings. 10 “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? And if you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own? No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” The Law and the Kingdom of God The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they ridiculed him. And he said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God. “The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone forces his way into it. But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one dot of the Law to become void. ------ "11- 'If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? " Unrighteous wealth and righteous wealth I think is key in understanding the point of verse 10. Unrighteous gain and the enticement of others to join in one's deceit will not lead to any gain in righteous wealth. No one can cheat the master and be received by the master as his bond-servant and rewarded with treasure that is laid upfor eternity. Ill gotten gain does not go unnoticed. It causes eternal suffering for all that participate in deceptions as each deception is sin against God. It is the nature of many an unGodly man to take gain thinking their deception result sin personal unseen and unwarranted gains. If one cuts a corner, conspires to defraud in any manner by shaving a little off the edges here and there it does not go unnoticed by God. He will not tolerate it. Such men as do these things do not gain righteous wealth that is treasure laid up at heaven. There will be none for them. They will be elsewhere for they are cheats. They sin against God as fraudulent holy men do, for their real love is of money.

  27. Our inability to completely live as God intended us to live is evidenced by particular acts of sin and trespasses. This is something far deeper than trespassing particular rules and speaks to the fall of humanity. Sin as a whole is related to our inability to live the perfect physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually healthy life God had originally planned for humanity. It is our falling short of God's intention and our inability to even reach it through our own efforts. I think Christians often lose sight that our salvation is not just forgiveness of individual trespasses but also becoming a new creation in Christ which directly addresses our sin-nature and the fall of humanity. Forgiveness deals with God overlooking particular trespasses we've committed. Being a new creation in Christ with a new nature directly deals with our inherent sin nature.

  28. Hi Addison. There's a misconception that the musically gifted, public performers, and professional pulpiteers that dominate congregational meetings are spiritually elevated above the rest of the body of Christ. Believe me they aren't. The list of high profile professing Christians in leadership who transgress and get drawn into sin is ever being added to. Sure we can forgive them but where there is a culture of patronising pride and an "us and them" mentality between the members of the body of Christ this shows that the biblical model for fellowship and association is not being followed. The 12th Chapters of Romans and 1 Corinthians both deal with this at some length, with no mention of musicality. Rom 12:3-8 (3) For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith. (4) For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same function: (5) So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. (6) Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; (7) Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teaches, on teaching; (8) Or he that exhorts, on exhortation: he that gives, let him do it with simplicity; he that guides, with diligence; he that shows mercy, with cheerfulness. Rom 12:15-16 (15) Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. (16) Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. 1Co 12:4-7 (4) Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. (5) And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. (6) And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which works all in all. (7) But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

For a single person it is $1,276 a month which I know a couple of people who are living on Social Security only that are lower than this income According to our DHS office the average time for someone on food stamps is 18 months.... this is not including elderly people who are living on only Social Security. I don't know enough about section 8 housing to speak about it in any way... In my duties at Xerox, I worked in most of our local churches and have seen many people turned down for help. I don't know why but the looks on their faces as they left was more than I could stand many times so I followed them out of the building and helped them myself. Sometimes a little and sometimes more than a little. I don't know if the church just didn't have the money to help. Sometimes our church doesn't as we struggle to pay our own bills. It is my opinion that the Church as a whole has fallen very short in helping people in need on a daily basis. The government does do a better job in getting people by, but the rules and regulations tend to keep people trapped in the system and destroy the family structure so it, long term, has been devastating to low income people as a whole. Personally I don't mind paying taxes to help people, but the wasteful government agencies and corruption make it very inefficient and makes it hard to accept the overall tax structure.

  31. This came to my mail box a few minutes ago, and I thought I would share it with you all. The OTHER Unforgivable Sin Mentioned in the Bible . . . January 11, 2019 by Alan E. Kurschner Here is the unforgivable sin that is mentioned in the Bible: “I tell you the truth, people will be forgiven for all sins, even all the blasphemies they utter. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, but is guilty of an eternal sin” (because they said, ‘He has an unclean spirit’).” (Mark 3:28–30) But there is another one that is rarely talked about that is unforgivable, an unforgivable sin that can only be committed during the Antichrist’s great tribulation: “A third angel followed the first two, declaring in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and takes the mark on his forehead or his hand, that person will also drink of the wine of God’s anger that has been mixed undiluted in the cup of his wrath, and he will be tortured with fire and sulfur in front of the holy angels and in front of the Lamb. And the smoke from their torture will go up forever and ever, and those who worship the beast and his image will have no rest day or night, along with anyone who receives the mark of his name.” This requires the steadfast endurance of the saints—those who obey God’s commandments and hold to their faith in Jesus.” (Rev 14:9–12) There have been those who have tried to argue that if someone (believer or unbeliever) commits this sin, they will be able to repent of it later. The problem with this is three-fold: 1. The passage does not hint at such a prospect at all. Rather, the language goes out of its way to warn anyone of its consequences for doing such a thing, piling up graphic descriptions of wrath. It is the most descriptive passage in hell in the bible, for a reason. signaling to the reader that you will seal your fate if you do this. Interestingly, this is the same category of sin that the traditional unforgivable sin in Mark 3:28–30 falls into: blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. But in this case the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit (God) is worshiping the beast and its image through taking the beast’s mark. 2. The book of Revelation as a whole conveys that that the beast-followers, who have taken the mark will not repent (See Rev. 9:20–21; 16:9, 11). This is a judgment by God in itself, by taking the mark God judges them with a heard heart. I think 2 Thessalonians 2:9–12 is relevant to this context: “The arrival of the lawless one will be by Satan’s working with all kinds of miracles and signs and false wonders, and with every kind of evil deception directed against those who are perishing, because they found no place in their hearts for the truth so as to be saved. Consequently God sends on them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false. And so all of them who have not believed the truth but have delighted in evil will be condemned.” 3. People are always trying to twist and strain Scripture by trying to explain some supposed loophole for those who take the mark and repent later. If this happens in your lifetime, don’t rationalize to yourself saying things like “God will understand if I take the mark, because I need to feed my children.” Or, “I will just take the mark but not worship the beast and his image.” Seriously? You want to risk your soul playing game with Scripture twisting or rationalizing God’s Word? I can tell you right now that God is not in the loophole business. The passage (the book of Revelation as whole clearly teach that taking the mark is a sign that you have give your allegiance to Antichrist, and have told Christ you know longer trust him with your soul. You will find yourself in hell if you think as such. There are no exceptions. This is not a game. Your soul depends on your decision to either follow Antichrist, or Christ. How can you be sure to avoid this other unforgivable sin mentioned in the Bible? Do not take the mark. “This requires the steadfast endurance of the saints—those who obey God’s commandments and hold to their faith in Jesus” (Rev 14:12).

  33. MIRACLES FOLLOW THE PLOW, A.W. TOZER Break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he comes and rain righteousness upon you. –Hosea 10:12 Here are two kinds of ground: fallow ground and ground that has been broken up by the plow. The fallow field is smug, contented, protected from the shock of the plow and the agitation of the harrow. Such a field, as it lies year after year, becomes a familiar landmark to the crow and the blue jay. Had it intelligence, it might take a lot of satisfaction in its reputation; it has stability; nature has adopted it; it can be counted upon to remain always the same while the fields around it change from brown to green and back to brown again. Safe and undisturbed, it sprawls lazily in the sunshine, the picture of sleepy contentment. But it is paying a terrible price for it tranquility: Never does it see the miracle of growth; never does it feel the motions of mounting life nor see the wonders of bursting seed nor the beauty of ripening grain. Fruit it can never know because it is afraid of the plow and the harrow. In direct opposite to this, the cultivated field has yielded itself to the adventure of living. The protecting fence has opened to admit the plow, and the plow has come as plows always come, practical, cruel, business-like and in a hurry. Peace has been shattered by the shouting farmer and the rattled of machinery. The field has felt the travail of change; it has been upset, turned over, bruised and broken, but its rewards come hard upon its labors. The seed shoots up into the daylight its miracle of life, curious, exploring the new world above it. All over the field the hand of God is at work in the age-old and ever renewed service of creation. New things are born, to grow, mature, and consummate the grand prophecy latent in the seed when it entered the ground. Nature’s wonders follow the plow. There are two kinds of lives also: the fallow and the plowed. For examples of the fallow life we need not go far. They are all too plentiful among us. The man of fallow life in contented with himself and the fruit he once bore. He does not want to be disturbed. He smiles in tolerant superiority at revivals, fasting, self-searchings, and all the travail of fruit-bearing and the anguish of advance. The spirit of adventure is dead within him. He is steady, “faithful”, always in his accustomed place (like the old field), conservative, and something of a landmark in the little church. But he is fruitless. The curse of such a life is that it is fixed, both in size and in content. To be has taken the place of to become. The worst that can be said of such a man is that he is what he will be. He has fenced himself in, and by the same act, he has fenced out God and the miracle. The plowed life is the life that has, in the act of repentance, thrown down the protecting fences and sent the plow of confession into the soul. The urge of the Spirit, the pressure of circumstances and the distress of fruitless living have combined thoroughly to humble the heart. Such a life has put away defense, and has forsaken the safety of death for the peril of life. Discontent, yearning, contrition, courageous obedience to the will of God: these have bruised and broken the soil till it is ready again for the seed. And as always fruit follow the plow. Life and growth begin as God “rains down righteousness.” Such a one can testify, “And the hand of the Lord was upon me there.” Corresponding to these two kinds of life, religious history shows two phases, the dynamic and the static. The dynamic periods were those heroic times when God’s people stirred themselves to do the Lord’s bidding and went out fearlessly to carry His witness to the world. They exchanged the safety of inaction for the hazards of God-inspired progress. Invariably the power of God followed such action. The miracle of God went when and where His people went; it stayed when His people stopped. The static periods were those times when the people of God tired of the struggle and sought a life of peace and security. Then they busied themselves trying to conserve the gains made in those more daring times when the power of God moved among them. Bible history is replete with examples. Abraham “went out” on his great adventure of faith, and God went with him. Revelations, theophanies, the gift of Palestine, covenants and promises of rich blessings to come were the result. Then Israel went down into Egypt, and the wonders ceased for four hundred years. At the end of that time Moses heard the call of God and stepped forth to challenge the oppressor. A whirlwind of power accompanied that challenge, and Israel soon began to march. As long as she dared to march, God sent out His miracles to clear the way for her. Whenever she lay down like a fallow field, He turned off His blessing and waited for her to rise again and command His power. This is a brief but fair outline of the history of Israel and of the Church as well. As long as they “went forth and preached everywhere,” the Lord worked “with them…confirming the word with signs following.” But when they retreated to monasteries or play at building pretty cathedrals, the help of God was withdrawn till a Luther or Wesley arose to challenge hell again. Then invariably God poured out His power as before. In every denomination, missionary society, local church or individual Christian this law operates. God works as long as His people live daringly: He ceases when they no longer need His aid. As soon as we seek protection outside of God, we find it to our own undoing. Let us build a safety-wall of endowments, by-laws, prestige, multiplied agencies for the delegation of our duties, and creeping paralysis sets in at once, a paralysis which can only end in death. The power of God comes only where it is called out by the plow. It is released into the Church only when she is doing something that demands it. By the word “doing” I do not mean mere activity. The Church has plenty of “hustle” as it is, but in all her activities she is very careful to leave her fallow ground mostly untouched. She is careful to confine her hustling within the fear-marked boundaries of complete safety. That is why she is fruitless; she is safe, but fallow. Look around today and see where the miracles of power are taking place. Never in the seminary where each thought is prepared for the student, to be received painlessly and at second hand; never in the religious institution where tradition and habit have long ago made faith unnecessary; never in the old church where memorial tablets plastered over the furniture bear silent testimony to a glory that once was. Invariably where daring faith is struggling to advance against hopeless odds, there is God sending “help from the sanctuary.” In the missionary society with which I have for many years been associated, I have noticed that the power of God has always hovered over our frontiers. Miracles have accompanied our advances and have ceased when and where we allowed ourselves to become satisfied and ceased to advance. The creed of power cannot save a movement from barrenness. There must be also the work of power. But I am more concerned with the effect of this truth upon the local church and the individual. Look at that church where plentiful fruit was once the regular and expected thing, but now there is little or no fruit, and the power of God seems to be in abeyance. What is the trouble? God has not changed, nor has His purpose for that church changed in the slightest measure. No, the church itself has changed. A little self-examination will reveal that it and its members have become fallow. It has lived through its early travails and has now come to accept an easier way of life. It is content to carry on its painless program with enough money to pay its bills and a membership large enough to assure its future. Its members now look to it for security rather than for guidance in the battle between good and evil. It has become a school instead of a barracks. Its members are students, not soldiers. They study the experiences of others instead of seeking new experiences of their own. The only way to power for such a church is to come out of hiding and once more take the danger-encircled path of obedience. Its security is its deadliest foe. The church that dears the plow writes its own epitaph: the church that uses the plow walks in the way of revival. http://r3alliance.com/2015/05/sample-blog-1/

Simple understanding does not fail you. Man who read Revelation 500-1000 years ago unless a scholar of the Greek or Hebrew was going to understand the message. Nothing is or was hidden from him. Too much interpretation muddies the meaning it seems.

When I began my walk, I was very hesitant about reading any modern books ... since I couldn't test the fruit. So I was looking at old preachers of the Great Awakening periods as those revivals impacted the world greatly! One of those preachers was D.L. Moody -- from which Moody Bible Institute remains as a solid Bible believing college ... and the first superintendent of Moody was Moody's right hand man -- R.A. Torrey. These guys led revivals all over the world. Another book you may be interested in is -- Secret Power by D.L. Moody. God bless, George

  40. Your contextualizing of Scripture is where I think you are misunderstanding Scripture … as you know these letters were at that time being developed and the church was already living and developing without the complete instruction set ordained by God till 90's AD … Paul is giving His source of learning directly from Christ to be the source of his understanding to be written down... this is as the OT prophets also did... so this is not new method by the original way since Moses who got the Pentateuch in the Genesis-Deuteronomy directly from God Himself. To help you understand the need for contextualization suppose I write down on ten slips of paper "come over here and sit on my lap baby' and hand out this written material to ten different people - most likely I would get a romantic or sexual understanding from these ten. However if I place it in it's historical cultural context I find it is a father calling out to his baby across the room... if the historical, cultural context is not known then it's fair game for any interpretation!

  41. Anything you receive by direct revelation should be backed by Scripture. People can be deceived by not depending on Scripture. I have heard ridiculous things being a manifestation of the Holy Spirit like making animal sounds or wetting one's pants!. These are not things found in Scripture. Preaching the gospel with boldness is one. Look at Peter before Pentecost denying Christ and afterwards preaching and 5000 people were saved. The power to preach was one of the things promised in Acts 1.

  45. Peace with God Through Faith Romans 5 ESV Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come. But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. And the free gift is not like the result of that one man's sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. For if, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ. Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous. Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
