  1. God loves you so much He sent Jesus to die for your sins, your failures, your imperfections. He died in your place, for you, so that you can know God is your loving caring Father. 1Co 1:25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 1Co 1:26 For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 1Co 1:27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 1Co 1:28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 1Co 1:29 so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. Join the club. Ask God to come into your life to be your Savior and the Lord over you. It is only when we know we are nothing that we can come to God and give ourselves to Him. He has a purpose for you and has planned good works that you should walk in them. You do need to make that choice to want Him to direct your paths.

  2. I pray to the Lord, and end with "in the name of Jesus". I know the Holy Spirit intercedes in our prayers (Romans 8:26) so all 3 are involved anyway. How one does it is up to them and the Lord. Dont make prayer too complicated or overthink it. Just pray. Just talk to the Lord. Take everything to Him in prayer, with thanksgiving (Philippians 4:6-7).

  4. I have been used to driving many miles to get to a store with a reasonable selection for many decades. Lived in the interior of Alaska for 10 years and live now in a rural farming area of Iowa. It takes a lot of money to keep a brick and mortar store open. People have to be paid and light bills have to be paid. Property taxes and other fees also. If the volume of customers is not adequate to reach a profit margin, then the business has no choice but to close the doors. I charge almost $2 a mile to deliver product to food store warehouses. And some of that product has to travel 1000 miles or more to get to that warehouse. That warehouse has employees to pay, light bills, and property taxes. It then has to be distributed to the stores by their own fleet of trucks. Someone has to pay for all that. It is all basic economics.

  8. The devil can give a false sense of security and he can also give a tormenting doubt and really do a number on you. So, what do we do? [1] Do not rely at all on your "feelings" about your assurance. You said you "feel" your salvation is phoney. Rely instead on what you know to be true - a time you can look back on with confidence where you made a decision to trust Christ. [2] Ask yourself if a lack of prayer and Bible reading are contributing to these feelings of doubt. That happens all the time. Christians quit reading the Bible, quit praying, and quit seeking God and all of a sudden they are in a rut of doubt that plagues them. [3] Go to God with this and tell him what's happening in your heart.

  10. Hello there, I have been very aware as I have entered each post, and read those of others, of the significance each part of the tabernacle must have. Some are obvious, but all must have a part to play, a glimpse to give of the Lord Jesus Christ, I just haven't made a study of it, to be sure enough to make comment. The mercy seat being not only overlaid with gold, but made entirely of pure gold is significant. I believe, 'And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof.' (Exodus 25:17) Praise God!

  11. Have you read in the OT about Elijah raising a child from the dead with the power of God? And Jesus resurrected Lazarus, and Jairius' daughter, and a young man the only son of a widow. I think when Jesus Christ was born on earth, He brought the divine power of life with him. The power of the resurrection was already with him. He died on the cross as an act of sacrifice to pay for our sins. I have read that part of Matthew about the resurrection of the OT saints. Perhaps the Lord wanted to use them to spread the gospel. I honestly don't know. When I am in heaven I look forward to sitting at Jesus' feet and learning from Him all the things of the Bible I do not understand.

  12. The 1st resurrection of Rev 20 isn't specific as to timing, only the facts of the event. The 2nd resurrection is specific concerning timing. One cannot say the 1st is before or after any other event from the facts contained in Rev 20 or 1 Thess 4. Matt 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 give us the timing; after the tribulation of those days, those days are cut short, when we see the sign of the coming of the Son of man, when Jerusalem is compassed by armies, etc. One also cannot equate tribulation with the whole 7 years. To paraphrase, Jesus says in Matt 24, "When you see the A of D...then shall be great tribulation.", and before this the time is called "beginning of sorrows". There is no '7 years of tribulation' specific to the end of the age and the sign of His coming. The whole 'U-turn' argument is specious. Are you saying it's an impossible scenario that we are gathered to meet Jesus in the clouds of the air and instead of going to heaven we stay on earth? Maybe we a caught up to meet Jesus and wait there for a short time as He destroys his enemies. And if we are in heaven right after we meet Him in the clouds of the air, there is nothing saying we stay in heaven for any length of time, other than doctrinal beliefs that is. The 'U-turn' argument creates false facts and then ridicules the result, it is not a sound logical position.

  13. That is what I have wanted for decades. A green burial. Let me decompose as I should. Non of that nasty embalming chemicals in me. For the original post ... The God who created the universe is well able to resurrect us no matter what physical condition the body is in. Cremation with scattered ashes, burial at sea, or stuck in the fanciest casket. If how we are buried were important, then the bible would have mentioned it. However if your dad is specific about his burial/cremation plans, he really should have it in writing.

" Jhn 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 17. We opted for cremation mostly due to the expense. A memorial was held at our church. Tell the sisters to look into the cost of each choice and if they want burial and a service at the funeral parlor and/or grave side they should make the arrangements and start prepaying it now.

Thank You Father. For I am now made aware, and also enabled by You to start this instant to turn about from whatever source of doubt and perhaps deceit I have been living under, leaving it behind to be born again with You Holy Spirit indwelling me and revealing Lord Jesus the way to You Father God. I give my praise, I ask in the name of my Lord Jesus dear Holy Spirit be with me and guide me, lead me to the word that frees me and directs my spirit and edifies my soul. I rejoice in this time!

  20. Hi, Do not let the issue trouble you even one day. I counseled more families, literally into the tens of hundreds, kept arguing siblings apart from each other, even watched dueling Lincolns in the parking lot, and had one family try to settle it with a 1911 45 caliber semi automatic. I even had the cremated remains sit in a bronze urn at my desk for over a year while sisters fought a legal battle over the inscription for mom. They actually called me daily for a year over the issue. Even I had the inscription I wanted to put on it by the end of that one. It can get more than silly it can get quite dangerous. If there is serious discussion/arguing now figure it will get really ugly at his death. Have one say now an d then just let it go now, and let the dead bury the dead so to speak. Never let the dead control from the grave is the motto to lve by. If dad choses to do nothing to both preplan and to prepay plus set aside funding in full and he dies, his wishes are of no value. Let no one dictate your wallet and let no one's dereliction of personal duty, and responsibility, become your responsibility. BTW- A will is not a place to put funeral instructions. Are you really going to wait around for a will to be read and enforced if there is conflict? To be blunt, written instructions, and presigned irrevocable prepaid funeral plan arrangements are the way he needs to go. Or it is a set up for a time of long lasting angst between syblings. A needless angst- have one say now from you, declare it done as far as you are concerned and never revisit it again, for if you do it will become a thing that is not "nice" and a bad testimony of our Lord as well as others see the arguing unfolding on and on. Plus: as a side note, in the USA though State regulations vary, one does not have to be embalmed and one does not have to be cremated either. Within limits of public health and safety you can do pretty much what you want. Want to be buried unembalmed and facing east without a casket and have it done before sunrise, well it is difficult to get it done, but it can be done. About the only option I didn't make arrangement for over the years was for freeze drying.

  21. Jesus is God. I assume you meant God the Father? Jesus, Father and Holy Spirit constitute the Holy Trinity. Jesus is God. They all are equal. I see nothing wrong to praying to either of them. Praying to Jesus or Holy Spirit is also praying to God. Because Jesus and Holy Spirit are God.

  22. Shalom Ella, What a storm you are going through at the moment... Please know that no operation will bring you peace and neither will no church. A personal relationship with Jesus is the only way. The catholic churches have a tendency to focus on Mary instead and other saints. Their teachings do not really match with the Bible in this regard. As for this "liberal" church, I can't speak about it, knowing nothing. Although I wonder what type of place it is if your husband feels that you disguised as a male would be appropriate. But there is no church system or building you need to attend or be a part of to be saved or to communicate with God. Don't rush to these places of Sunday or Saturday for refuge - they're simply brick and mortar with a few people inside, that's all. It's not a temple or place to meet with God. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth. ~ John 4:23-24 Getting your heart right with God should be paramount before deciding on such matters of catholic or liberal church and this or that gender. No one knows you more than the Father. Not your husband and not even yourself. He knows all your problems and positives. Seek Him first, before seeking buildings to join others. Being a part of a group will not bring you peace or safety. I hope that makes sense. You may agree with me already. But I just got this vibe from your posts that you may be looking for shelter for your soul in these mere buildings. Besides, what we are doing now is also a type of church. We're all here to help and support each other, so stay with us through this troubling time. You have a lot of people on here who want to help you because we care. Love & Shalom

  25. Note: I have helped friends buy caskets from independent casket sales retail stores! A whole lot cheaper by thousands of dollars than one of those corporate chain funeral homes that owns a major casket manufacturer. As for me I have been at enough funerals, memorial services, to last the rest of my lifetime. I do not need the comfort of one, I do not need the lifestyle memorial service of happy talk with trinkets of one's life on display either. Not especially hardened, just find no benefit in funerals of any sort anymore. We have one in the family this month. I have opted not to go as I already had made a major financial commitment to attend another function and celebrate an event with my bride. I know my now deceased family member. I know He is with my Lord Jesus and has no need of my remembrance of him, nor do I need any comforting. We did all that stuff as we lived, and celebrated having valued each other whether near or far apart. A year ago we had a clambake in honor of my mother, took a place at the beach and had a grand time. We scattered her ashes at the favorite place of her youth, where my father also was scattered years ago. Cost about $15,000 for a high ol' time for about sixteen of us to stay on the beach. Pretty cheap per person, fine time, lots of relaxation, and reflection, a really nice week after a hard time of the final illness of a loved one. Beats heck out of a funeral/memorial service at some chapel for an hour! I state all this with the demise of a long lived loved one in mind. For in contrast to that, I do know the value of gathering, and a formal time of services to help the grieving individuals especially upon suffering that sudden death of a young one, a young friend, neighbor, or offspring. That is a bit of a different situation.

  26. The present day expense is insanity on steroids. Started back when the USA federal government agency FTC was used by political powers to regulate the industry. What they really did was to make it very expensive to operate an independent funeral home or cemetery company. Our cost of doing business catapulted. Soon after the FTC hammer came upon the industry there was a corporate group started that began buying up the independents, paying the independent operators with stock of the new funeral service corportion. Soon they dominated areas and prices went out of sight. They now own chemical supply companies, casket manufacturers, Cemeteries/Memorial Parks with the endowment care/perpetual care funds to play with, and they reap a fortune. They are not only in the USA and Canada but Europe and much of the rest of the world today. The marketing is amazing amazingly crude too. Though nice people still work in the funeral industry, the corporate firm itself is pretty hard sell with packages Gold -Silver - Platinum, etc. It is done much like an old time Dance Studio presentation. There are a few displays of a casket corner to look at on a wall display and that is it. $8,000, $12,000, $32,000, pick one.. THAT'S NUTS! we used to start at $120 for a complete funeral and a matching $120 for a complete burial ( Ha that reads funny doesn't it? ) with most funerals costing much less than $2,000 total for everything. Now cremation with nothing is $3,000. Or if you shop hard and find a rare local independent owner firm it is $1,100. Thank your federal government America. And thank Richard Nixon's wage and price comtrol too. Between Nixon and then the FTC it becam eimpossible to operate inexpensively and provide service. The industry changed to a marketing game and really a publicly traded corporate stock driven industry. About the same thing has been happening in medical care industry.

  27. I don't think the casket is put directly into the ground....it is placed into some kind of secure vault first which is in the ground. At least that is what was done with my dad's burial in the mid 1970s. Neighbor probably knows more about this. The Bible doesn't say anything about cremation being wrong. Many people cannot afford a gravesite, etc, so opt for cremation. I agree with telling your dad to make the cremation arrangements ahead of time. Then after death if your sisters are still opposed, let them pay for the burial. Most people can't afford what that costs and will stick with prepaid cremation. If your sisters are still willing to pay for it, let them be. No use you doing a battle for your dad's wishes after death and destroying your peace.

  29. Our faith is based on Scripture, not on our feelings. Memorize salvation Scriptures. If there is some area that you fall short you need to ask God to help you correct it. For instance, perhaps you received Christ as your Savior and accepted that He died for your sin, but you have never surrendered to Jesus as Lord and Master of your life. You just need to ask God to help you humble yourself to be obedient to His Spirit. Tell Him you want Him to lead and direct your paths, not your selfishness or satan. Rom 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Have you been baptized? Sometimes obeying God in doing that will reassure you of all God has done for you. God wants to be close to you even more than you want to be close to Him. Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. J Jas 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

The sermons of our primary pastor never fail to feed me and proved new insights. They are always straight from Scripture. I look forward to being there as well as my Baptist Bible study where we share our personal struggles and how we can apply the Word to them. I really love and identify with this small group.

  32. There can't be three if Rev 20 says, this is the FIRST resurrection, and then describes the next resurrection as after the 1000 years being complete, hence the 2nd. And no, the meaning is not different, the object is. In 1 Thess 4 the dead are first before the living, within the 1st resurrection. In Rev 20 first refers to the complete concept of the resurrection of the dead. Then what of the living in Christ that make it through the '7 year tribulation' when the dead of Rev 20 are resurrected? If one assumes, as scripture says, there is only one 1st resurrection then the 1 Thess 4 resurrection is the same as the Rev 20 resurrection. I mean, how do we just add a resurrection when the Greek, as you pointed out says, "prote = the first"? And then you claim it to be the second? What? I mean how?

And we got all we need IN CHRIST to overcome all evil . But praise be to the Lord who gives us all we need in Christ to overcome AND that in the world to come we wont have this contrary flesh ANYMORE . TILL then be on guard and crucify the evil by the power of Christ . Follow and walk after the SPIRIT . And dig deep In that bible

But overcoming those thoughts, that is when you ignore them or say NO to them. Avoiding them is as if they never even crossed your mind as if you are almost or completely immune to ever thinking to do something sinful.

  37. Hi, if you wouldn’t mind me chiming in and attempting to answer your question. But I’d like to change the question to; What is fellowship? I think, in the answer to this question, you will find the answer to the question; What is Our fellowship for? I believe the answer of what fellowship is is; It is one’s personal relationship with Christ, touching another believer’s personal relationship with Christ. Whereby in that exchange, Christ is shared. Seeing how Christ is the life that is in each believer, it is actually “life” that is exchanged and shared. This would be my thoughts on how to answer your question. Hope it helps. Blessings, Much love in Christ, Not me

You've been a member for almost five years, and with little input. I'm trying to understand the fragile situation at present, but with not a lot of info, it's difficult at best. The thing is this: Nothing is worth ending you life for. NOTHING There's need for an intervention in your life right now, and it's a bit limited for an internet ministry, tremendous as it is. Isolated and alone as you might be feeling, do reach out to someone, somewhere. And get back to us, we're praying for you. Shalom, David/BeauJangles
