  1. I am reading the Psalms now in my Bible. This is one of my favorites. Praise for the Lord’s Mercies A Psalm of David. 103 Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. 6 The Lord executes righteousness And justice for all who are oppressed. 7 He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel. 8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. 9 He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. 10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities. 11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; 12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. 13 As a father pities his children, So the Lord pities those who fear Him. 14 For He [a]knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. 15 As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. 16 For the wind passes over it, and it is [b]gone, And its place remembers it no more. 17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, 18 To such as keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them. 19 The Lord has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all. 20 Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word. 21 Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, You [c]ministers of His, who do His pleasure. 22 Bless the Lord, all His works, In all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul!

  2. No you are not reading it wrong, and yes, money is a blessing, but to do the wrong things with your hard earned finances is like setting your treasures on earthly things instead of heavenly things. Always try to set your affections on things that are above.

  3. This is a multifaceted secular and theological inquiry with socialist overtones. The love (idolatry, hoarding, me, me, me) of money is the root of all evil. That hasn't changed over time and is getting worse. Charity is just that, charity; I don't legally or morally owe a living to someone else that can work. The man that doesn't provide for himself and his own is worse than an infidel. Taking away from someones own labor to provide for himself and his family by the force of law; and giving it to the politicians choice of beneficiaries is morally wrong. How much is too much; who should decide and how much should be taken away and given elsewhere? Capitalism provides incentive and opportunities; in Russian socialism and elsewhere they pretend to work and the government pretends to pay them. The poor and needy do not provide jobs, growth or opportunity; the poor will always be with us: Mark 14:7 (KJV) For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. You have $50.00 on you right now; I'm hungry and need it worse than you, give it to me! Well why not? Liberals and socialism want to do good; but they want to do it with your money, not theirs. Being forced to provide is neither love nor charity. The beehive mentality has become; you have too much and a surplus, I'm entitled to what you have earned, I deserve it. The entitlement mindset; just because you exist, someone owes you a living. Or in the distant past generations well before you were even born; your ancestors were wronged; and you now personally are responsible for it and need to pay reparations. The word of God is clear on what and how Christians are to respond to the widows, orphans, starving and needy. Our government has taken over in the role our churches should be doing. Opinions are like noses; everyone has one, so I thought I'd stick mine in.

  4. Lord Jesus You know all things. And i do not believe it is your will that we should be plagued by bad dreams. You proclaimed that the rest of the righteous is sweet, and You have made us to become, accomplished fact, the very righteousness of God in You. I know my sister is in Your hand and growing, so on her behalf i ask that You would reveal to her exactly where You are at in this, and exactly how she should understand it, and what needs to happen to stop it. I ask You to restore to her experience of Your promise of sweet rest. amen

  6. THE PSALMS CHALLENGE DAY 1 PSALM 1 [Book 1] Would y'all like to read the Psalms together? It would take the rest of the year and a little on into January. We could read one per day [some would have to be broken down into sections]. I love the Psalms and feel there is much to learn and much theology there. We could on our own memorize pieces, mediate on portions of it, and just read together. Comments would be highly welcome. We could learn from each other. If posted what someone else has said, please cite the source. That's just common courtesy. I really would like to do this together. I love the Psalms and feel they are very, very rich. Here is Psalm 1 Book 1, Psalm 1 The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked 1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. 4 The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; 6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. I had a guest pastor once a long time ago who said that "walks", "stands", and "sits" shows a progression of what sin will do to you. You first notice is as you walk by, but can pass it by. But keeping on passing it by, then you stand still next to it out of curiosity. The next thing you know, you are sitting down participating in it. As far as "meditating on God's word day and night", Charles Spurgeon [whom I can't read enough of] says that one should refer to Psalm 23:7 that says, "So as a man thinks in his heart - so he is". That the heart is like an index of a book - it shows what's in the book. Our thoughts show up in our life. I REALLY like what Bartholomew Ashwood said in 1688 about meditation, "Meditation* chews the cud, and gets the sweetness and nutritive virtue of the Word into the heart and life: this is the way the godly bring forth much fruit." *Meditation not being the emptying of one's mind like transcendental meditation, but the filling of one's mind over and over with God's word. Repeating phrases in your mind asking God to pour the entire meaning of it into your heart." - jayne The Bible speaks of meditation many times. I, personally, don't do this enough.

  7. I serve Jesus because I met Him and He told me to serve Him. Pretty much as simple as that. If I told you I met a woman with blonde hair at the bank, you would accept it without demanding proof. You wouldn’t have to see her yourself in order to believe me. You would not labor to try to talk me out of it until I produced photographic evidence. You would accept that I met a blonde-haired woman you haven’t yet met. When faced with a personal testimony about meeting Jesus, unbelievers take one of two positions: 1) you’re a liar, or 2) you hallucinated. There’s no evidence of either of these conclusions, but they willingly accept it with no evidence because anything is a better option than believing a Christian. I’m not sure how it is that my personal experience needs your approval before it’s real, but that’s how unbelievers roll.

  8. I find delight when I see scripture complimenting scripture. It always reinforces belief/faith in God's word/light. 1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. Psalm 119:11 'Thy word' have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119:105 'Thy word' is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. 1 John 1:5 This then is 'the message' which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. Quote from bible scriptures....

  9. And with Christians living together, having casual sex, children out of marraige, getting blind drunk and using illegal drugs. One can understand that the world does not take Christianity seriously. Then we have Christians who swear, blasphemy, are dishonest etc We are called to be different. Well are we? How are we?

  11. @Sonshine☀️ Definitely. I have been speaking out against this for many years now and have gotten myself into some real trouble doing so. But the truth must be told. This movement had momentum way back in the 1970's. I was in the thick of it sounding warnings against it. Fast forward 40 years from when I began this journey...things are unbelievably worse!

  12. @BeauJangles I'm with you on this one, brother. There is no need for proof. Scripture makes it clear we are to come to God in faith. But as to 'evidence' -I would point to lives that are radically changed by Him. Drug addicts, criminals, murderers, you name it. There are so many lives transformed by the power of God through Jesus Christ. Are you familiar with a radio show (half hour drama of testimonies) called Unshackled? It has been on the air for decades and declares these true life stories. It can be found online, too. My second evidence would be the wonder of creation. "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse" Creation speaks of a Creator. The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.(psalm 19:1) Thirdly, the prophecies that have been proved true. Incredibly long list of them...fulfilled in Jesus Christ. The Bible is a living book that is powerful and sharper than a two-edged sword. If people will read it with an open mind and soft heart, God will reveal Himself through its pages. "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God." (Romans 10:17)

  14. Psa 1:2 but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. I delight in the Psalms and in all of God's word. It reflects my Lord. It ministers to my heart, it gives me hope and it heals my spirit. His word gives life. From it we find our salvation. His Spirit uses the word as His vehicle. It is His two edged sword. Our Savior created by His word. His Name is the Word. To meditate on His word is to meditate on Him. How beautiful it is to sing His word in the Psalms.

  15. The word says I've never seen Gods children begging for bread. Jesus said l shall see to all your needs according to my riches in heaven. Also Paul said godly contentment is great gain. It Says God owns the cattle of a thousand hills, but the lust of money is at the root of all evil. It is the world that lusts for gold and that may describe some who say they are Gods people like the jet set preachers.

  16. All of us are rich compared to someone else. The question is not whether you happen to have money, but whether you put your identity in your financial status. Also whether you are willing to cheat/steal in order to gain wealth. The rich men in James were paying slave wages to poor laborers out in the field so they could keep more for themselves. We all should be careful not to act that way. We shouldn’t try to low-ball people out of fair pay for their work, or look for excuses not to pay a bill, or take advantage of someone in hard times to pay them half what they deserve. We should be generous in every facet of life.

  18. In my experience, there are three things which effectively evangelize the lost... 1) Complete and total honesty about what the Bible says — no spinning or sugarcoating. 2) A demonstration of effective power — not only signs/wonders but demonstrated evidence of walking in victory, having a peaceful home, and getting prayers answered. We really need to cut it with the ‘work in progress’ stuff and start showing fruit. 3) A sincere witness that you care about more than going to heaven. You care about Biblical principles, right living, hospitality, etc. Not just good works of being nice to each other, but showing the goodness of a healthy Christian household. Unbelievers really do notice when you’re different.

  19. What about all the millionaire evangelists and preachers who constantly ask for money on TV and they live high on the hog in mansions with sports cars, private jets, not just one mansion but many, limos, many expensive cars landscaped gardens, big swimming pools, fancy expensive clothes and jewelry, big TVs, stereo sets, computers, horses and dogs, etc. What about Jim Bakker, Joel Osteen, Franklin Graham, Jerry Falwell, Joyce meyers? I think whenever a preacher comes into a large sum of money he should spend it on charity. if the church building needs repairs, that might be a good thing to use the money on. The poor and homeless, those struggling with jobs in the church, some too handicap or injured to work, widows and orphans, the starving and sick in third world countries, this is what the money should be used on. Not on selfish expensive things for yourself. Especially if the person with the money is a minister, they should be held to higher standards. I'm not saying preachers should live in poverty, I guess they should be lower middle class, but they should remember the words of Jesus when they come into money.

  20. I’m just saying, it’s difficult to evangelize by Holy Spirit power when half the modern church says it’s heresy. Most of the major influencers on YouTube these days are strict cessationists. You built an evangelistic ministry on signs and wonders — just watch, Chris Rosebrough will be hot on your heels to call you an NAR wacko, and his thousands of fans of will gobble it up. No, what these use to prove God these days is a marketing plan.

  22. Wait, you mean we should actually strive for excellence and blamelessness on every point? Say it aint so!!! That kind of talk will get you shunned at most churches. Christians are supposed to be so blameless in front of the world that the mouth of the accuser is stopped against them. That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world — Philippians‬ ‭2:15‬ Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. — ‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:12‬ For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men — ‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:15‬

  23. An atheist who hates God will reject Him no matter what we do. That’s for certain. Yes some people use Christian hypocrisy as an excuse. However, Scripture does warn us we can be responsible for making others stumble, especially young people trying to figure things out. The modern church system is a dysfunctional, money-driven mess that’s hurting people in serious ways. The Pharisees were judged for misrepresenting God’s word, and we must watch lest we incur the same wrath.

  24. Today is a whole new day . A chance to start all over and if any is in error , let repentance be given and made . Let all go as troops right into those bibles and be refreshed by the words and pattern in it . We are running out of time . A wicked nasty delusion has been infiltrating even churches and all religions and even secular , and it preaches a false love god to unify the world as one RIGHT Under the beast . I have never heard the word LOVE overused and misunderstood as I do today . Every religion more and more is doing it , And yet , How can a man KNOW let alone LOVE GOD , if they LOVE NOT THE SON . THEY cant . And we gotta be on guard against this . it does not start out big , but rather very small but a little of its leaven , WILL LEAVEN the minds and hearts of all who do go under it in the days ahead . Fact is we got one large world religion , both secular and religious in nature , that is growing . We must avoid it and expose it . it matters not how many can do good works and how many can show a love to all , IF JESUS is NOT THE CENTER of that UNITY that LOVE , ITS ALL FALSE . And jesus would never have sat and let any contrary to him religion or mindset be believed . HE , as were the apostles , were adamant to say and make known The answer to the question , HOW may we be saved , and that answer is simply this , REPENT AND BELEIVE IN JESUS CHRIST . And we better learn our bibles well . For the holy scriptures will make a lamb wise unto salvation through faith in Christ .

  25. You nailed it Pg. I loved your analysis about how too many of the churches conduct their business. I might add that not enough is said about our responsibility to live our lives in righteous ways, from the "small things," like not taking printer paper home from work for non-related work activities to the "big things," like avoiding premarital sex and pornography. Oh, that would impact how many would attend our church. So is it quantity over quality?

  27. @frienduff thaylorde Amen. You have brought out an important point here! Hypocrisy in the church is a common excuse the world gives as their reason to reject Christ. Yet it is a cover for the REAL reason...which is love of sin and indulging the flesh. Sadly, hypocrisy IS alive and well. But that alibi will not wash when an individual stands face to face with their Maker at the judgement. That said, the true believers should do as Colossians 4:5-6 instructs, "Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one." Christians should stand out through their love for God and others as the first and second greatest commandments say. "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35) 1 John 4:8 even goes so far as to say, "The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love." This would include forgiving those who transgress against us. Iow, those who do not forgive and walk in the love of Christ are not His. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Matthew 6:14-15) Amen?

  28. Hi, If you would allow me to speak a bit. It is true we are accepted in the Beloved (declared righteous) by our faith in what the blood of Christ purchased for us in the cross. But what was it the the Blood of Christ purchased for us on the. cross? It was the Divine Nature come to birth in us. We become sinless as this new birth manifests itself and becomes the living power of life in us. And this is accomplished by faith in the doing of what God has commanded concerning our old life. And what has God commanded we do concerning our old life? He has commanded that we reckon it dead. For truly it was taken to death with Christ on the cross. It is faith in the operation of God in the soul of man that causes a believer to walk in newness of life (sinlessness). Now there will always be sin to a degree in the believers life. For as we reckon ourselves dead there is always a deeper degree of death we can die. Whereby with that deeper degree of death will we walk in less sinfulness which in turn will cause us to reckon ourselves dead a little deeper and more in other areas which in turn will cause a deeper death. For it is us appropriating our deaths in Christ to ourselves is that that frees a believer from the dictates of their fallen nature’s. This is the only way to walk in newness of life and it is by faith. For our salvation is a free gift of God to mankind and it all comes through faith. It make help to consider; How could you be guaranteed never ever to sin again from now to all eternity? There is but one way. And that is if you were to die right this instant. For the instant you die at that instant are you freed from your old man. This is what our salvation in Christ consists of; our deaths. It is faith in our deaths in Christ that frees us from us. Henceforth the command to reckon ourselves dead to sin and alive unto God. Please forgive the boldness, do not mean to offend. But please take these words before God and ask Him about them, to see if there is any truth in them. For walking in newness of life is for all Christians and is the purpose of our salvation in Christ. That the Divine Nature that came to life in us might come to have full control in our lives. Blessings, Much love in Christ, Not me

  33. I'm down for the challenge! I'm about halfway through psalms now, but I can do a resest especially when it includes discussion with other Christians! That first verse is everything. "Nor stands in the way of sinners" is extremely noteworthy. Judgment and self-righteousness closes so many people off from Christ, both believers and not. The third verse is a Bob Marley lyric. His music helped me tremendously as a teenager to not fall into despair and darkness and to stay "Forever Loving Jah." It always brings a smile to my face.

And I recalled the three things TO do in 2 Timothy 2:22 [I always remember that because of all the 2's.] 1. DO flee from sin 2. DO pursue righteousness 3. DO these things with others who are pure of heart There's the flip side of the coin from Psalm 1. Psalm 1 is how to avoid the negative. 2 Timothy 2:22 is how to gain the positive.

Verse 3 makes me think of Isaiah 61:3 "To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified." Trees of righteousness. Planted by the LORD, Himself. To bring glory to Him. And I say YES!! Make me just like that!

  39. “The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians: who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, walk out the door, and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.” ― Brennan Manning That could sound very condemning, if we fail to recognize that our brothers and sisters trapped in this behaviour are victimized by lies and misunderstandings of Him, of whom many TRULY desire to love and serve Him. Ministry has two faces.....one facing the Body, and the other facing the world He died for. We need to have His heart for rescuing both. And Body ministry is what produces disciples of Jesus Christ, and more harvesters.

  40. The answer to both is Yes, Jesus took our punishment, he took our guilt, our shame to pay the penalty for our sins and he bore the wraith of God for us. Romans 5:9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

  41. There was first a division between Paul and Barnabas, and then people started following Paul vs Barnabas and Paul rebuked them for it. Then there were separations between the Jewish Christians and gentile Christians; and the Coptic and Ethiopian churches with its gnostic influences and the Greek church and the Roman church and the Syrian church. Sometimes language separated churches. Sometimes it is different interpretations of Scripture. The Greek and Latin churches separated over whether the Father and the Son sent the Holy Spirit or just the Father sent Him. I know a church that split over the color of the carpet! So often our disagreements are stupid. It is when the people are not allowed to read the word of God and they create doctrines to fleece the flocks that we should object and leave. That happened in the Roman church and happens today. They would have done well to stick to the precepts of Scripture. The earliest doctrines and creeds were developed as the churches encountered false teaching that needed to be corrected. They were always measured against Scripture at that time. It was when they departed from Scripture that they got into trouble. It pays to search the Scriptures to see of the teaching is true.

So 50 years ago many church's were filled every weekend yet now where there are huge numbers its mainly the prosperity & entertainment type gatherings. And that's good as wherever the Gospel is preached is awesome; Our commission is love to obey and serve, to discern and not to judge... So for those of us that weekly attend modest to small gatherings and don't see much growth, more like rehashed already believers that for this reason or that are now in fellowship with us I ASK , ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,DOES THE WORLD TRUST US ??? Most would agree CHRISTIANS are ,,, a people set apart, loving, helpful, understanding, good friends, generous, kind and yet we have been given a GIFT so precious that we our instructed not to conceal this PRECIOUS GIFT but to share it ... Looking over my lifespan in many homes of GOD where the truth was misled ..eg Catholic priest pedo controversy ,,, thru to liberal church views about Gay clergy , the pay for healing message over the airways and other ways to attract new members, rather than revealing the truth ,,, JESUS alive in us ... Do not be yoked with those that are given to CHANGE . Simply speak and live the truth , by the SPIRIT and whoever comes amen and who ever rejects , its on them . Does the world trust us . ITS NOT SUPPOSED to . If we live HOLY , its going to hate us and not understand us at all . Does the world trust us , Its not supposed too . Thus let none entertain concepts nor ideals , for this is just the same message as usual . Seeker friendly may as well have said , HEY lets omit truth , Christ and that pattern , and lets just have one big social club . IN essence its all it is . Seems like every time I turn around some upcoming new name is spouting the same stuff others before him have . When the christains learn that the REASON folks don't come to JESUS , is because the love darkness rather than light . THEN we will simply SPEAK TRUTH LIVE IT , and whoever hears amen and many will reject . What we need is to HEED . and to FEED . HEED CHRIST , FEED ON BIBLES . Because I can tell us all , no matter how kind , or how grave , or how much truth , or how many bad examples , The reason I DID not come to JESUS , Was because I loved darkness . But grace appeared . Instead of the same old , same old , lets try and see HOW we can get them, are we being like the world enough , or whatever rhyme and reason they give , Just LEARN JESUS and read the bible . THEN we would know , The same TRUTH and the same approach that JESUS and the apostels did , WELL ITS RELEVANT TO ALL TIMES AND GENERATIONS . Thus change not this pattern , JUST preach truth , God knows who the sheep are and who will come . JUST PREACH TRUTH .

  47. Hi, so true it is, true compassion is only found in Christ. For it does seem that self trying to act like Christ has a behavior that would shame most sinners. (My thinks) Blessings, Much love in Christ, Not me

  48. From Strongs Exhaustive Concordance: Apostia ἀποστασία apostasía, ap-os-tas-ee'-ah; feminine of the same as G647 G647- divorce, repudiation a bill of divorce ἀποστάσιον, -ου, τό, very seldom in native Greek writings, defection, of a freedman from his patron, Demosthenes 35, 48 [940, 16]; in the Bible: 1. divorce, repudiation: Matthew 19:7; Mark 10:4 (βιβλίον ἀποστασίου, equivalent to סֵפֶר כְּרִיתֻת book or bill of divorce, Deuteronomy 24:1, 3; [Isaiah 50:1; Jeremiah 3:8]). 2. a bill of divorce: Matthew 5:31. Grotius at the passage and Lightfoot, Horae Hebrew at the passage, give a copy of one. So it is easy to see through the sleight used by some pre trib sites/books to find the GREEK meaning AND the intent of those English translators. Nothing to do with the rapture. So as I was saying, (and let's stick to what I pointed out , please), the passage shows "our gathering together unto Him" in connection with His coming. And it shows the man of sin's destruction in connection with "the brightness of His coming". In between these verses it says the man of sin must be revealed and make a blasphemous appearance to mock God which would be included in that man being revealed. He must do the mocking abomination first as well.

  49. Hi Coot I'd like to go back to 2 Thes. 2, since I am quite sure Paul's teaching here is Berean approved. Paul talks about "our gathering together unto Him". In the same sentence is, "the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ". Paul goes on to say that the son of perdition must be revealed first. Then he declares that the Lord will destroy him, "with the brightness of His coming". Yet doesn't pre trib teach that the rapture/gathering together unto him will take place BEFORE the Day when Jesus destroys this enemy?
