  1. God's timing for man What it means brother, is the Lord is far beyond the comprehension of any or our mathematical equations. All the theological studies concerning attempts for time sequences in years, centuries and so forth, all fall short on being exact according to our measurements.

  2. Fathers are shown what they are, me included, that we had fathers of our flesh and they corrected us, but they did it after their own pleasures.. Hebrews 12:9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; BUT HE FOR OUR PROFIT, that we might be partakers of his holiness. The weaker vessel, but the man is deeply taught by the Lord, how the man is not without the woman in the Lord, and the ones who seem more feeble are more necessary: 1 Corinthians 11:11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. 1 Corinthians 12:22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked.25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. Ephesians 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. which is the first commandment with promise For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.( the first commandment with PROMISE) Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Genesis 18:19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

  3. Hi Jack, Such great advice. I think if you were speaking one on one to someone, say some one you had become `friends` with, you might say, (if they say "Jesus this and Jesus that) You could say, "Oh do you know Him?" Or "Why do you use that name and not Mohammed, or Trump, or who ever. Why the name of Jesus?" Might make that person think a bit as to why they say `Jesus.` Obviously it is an important name of an important person. Wouldn`t do that in a group as they would probably turn on you thinking you had attacked them verbally. Marilyn.

  5. Thanks for sharing that story! I'm going to start reminding myself before work how much His name means to me and that it may not mean the same to others and I cannot control them but I can always stay true to what is important to me.

  7. Hey all. Does anyone have experience being in a work environment where co-workers constantly take the Lord’s name in vain? This used to not bother me, but now with my work towards a relationship with God it makes me feel disheartened. Is it possible to breach this topic and ask them to stop without bringing religion into the workplace? If not, does anyone have any meditations you would recommend to help me feel less bothered by this? Thanks for any and all input — it is greatly appreciated.

  8. Some of you who've greeted me here, know a little about my story. A year ago, October 2, 2018 I was scuba diving in Alexandria Bay, NY. I only had 3 days left of a season spent teaching technical diving on the shipwrecks found in the St. Lawrence River. One more student, 4 more dives between 180 and 250 feet deep, and I'd be done. Not just with the season, but with deep diving -- forever. I had just turned 50 years old that July. Despite being in good shape where I could still pass a USLA ocean lifeguard test and being very muscular and lean, I just started to feel old. As we age, we are more susceptible to oxygen toxicity and decompression sickness. I was certified to teach a course called Level III Exploration Trimix to 330 feet/100 meters; the deepest certification agencies and insurance companies allow us to conduct diver training. After class, a student possesses the knowledge to go to extremes if they desired ... 500 feet ... deeper. My plan was to semi-retire as a technical diving instructor. I was still going to teach scuba, but mostly within recreational diving depths to 130 feet and a course called Advanced Nitrox to 150 feet. But, only occasionally. My girlfriend, Sonya, and I were going to get married and do a lot of backpacking and horseback riding. Sonya grew up in a wealthy area of Los Angeles and had her own horse and enough land to trail ride. Being from Southern California her hobbies were snow skiing and figure skating. She eventually became a professional figure skating coach. I grew up in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania surrounded by ski resorts so my hobbies were scuba diving and surfing. My girlfriend's voice is newscaster neutral. I sound like the turtle, Crush, from finding Nemo. In high school, my homeroom teacher who had been a marine at Camp Pendleton, said I was the only native California not born in the state. We used to joke that God just goofed and sent the surfer and the skier to the wrong addresses. Anyway, the day before I got decompression sickness (DCS), I taught a class in a wetsuit to on a wreck in 250 feet of water. The river water temperature was between 68 - 72 F all the way to the bottom in the summertime. When the crisp Fall nights come, the temperature can drop a degree a day until it reaches the 30's in winter. The water was getting chilly so I decided to dive in my drysuit. We wear a type of thermal underwear underneath a rubber suit with attached boots and gloves and a latex neck seal to keep water out. A special locking zipper allows entry. My suit had some holes in it, so I patched them the night before like you'd repair a swimming pool liner. I decided to test dive it for the class. Underwater, the visibility was excellent. I played around an the wreck of the Islander, an 1800's paddlewheeler in 25 - 60 feet of water. Then, I headed out to a shoal in 90 feet where you can see lots of fish and drift in the fast river current. It was a fantastic dive! My suit was mostly dry and I was going to get some hot coffee and spend the rest of the day in bed eating Chinese food and watching movies. I put my gear in the back of my truck. I was renting a motel room for the season just 5 minutes from the dive site. It was raining when I surfaced and it was cold so I decided to just drive back to my room then remove my drysuit, take a shower, get coffee, and eat leftover Chinese. As soon as I approached the driveway into the motel, I felt a strange bubbling in my left foot. Then, I felt tingles from head to toe. My ears began to ring loudly and my vision blurred. Oh! Please God. Don't let me be bent. I knew something was very wrong. I pulled up to my room and quickly took my suit off. While underwater, I really had an urge to have a bowel movement. The feeling came over me again so I sat on the toilet. I couldn't go. That had never been a problem for me. I grabbed a 100% pure oxygen bottle I used to accelerate decompression schedules from 20 feet to the surface and started to breathe. First aid for DCS is 100% oxygen and transport to a recompression chamber ASAP. I lay in bed breathing O2 and started to feel better. I went back into the bathroom. Success! I came out and called the Divers Alert Network. DAN has doctors and medics standing by 24/7. I told the medic who answered the phone that I was bent. I wanted to verify that the recompression chamber in Syracuse was the closest. It was. It was also available. The choice I had was to drive 90 minutes to Syracuse myself or drive to River Hospital which was right next to the shipwreck I had just been on. The medic and I agreed that I could lose consciousness and my symptoms could worsen and my best bet was to go to River Hospital. On the way to River Hospital I breathed 100% oxygen through a regulator. I didn't pray much. I simply put it in God's hands even though I was terrified. I called my mother and called my girlfriend and told them what was happening. God has really outdone himself, at times, in my life as a Cosmic Lifeguard. I survived 3 blackouts while freediving. One often is fatal. The day my brother got married one Spring, I was heavily into skydiving. I was on my way to the reception when I saw one of the guys from my skydiving club standing along the interstate near our little drop zone. I stopped and asked if he'd had an off-field landing. He told me a guy jumped E.J.'s chute and it had malfunctioned. A riser broke, spinning the skydiver around until he cut away the main and deployed the reserve. They were looking for the main canopy. Great. E.J. and I were gym buddies. He had broken his leg at the drop zone in the winter when he slipped on ice on the walkway. I was using his new chute about 2 - 3 times a week, That could have been me. I'm not sure I wouldn't have panicked and died. I'm not a big fan of skydiving emergencies. When I lived in the Cayman Islands, I was run over by a car at 40 or so mph. The car struck me in the base of the spine then I crashed through the windshield and was thrown to the ground behind the car. I had a concussion, amnesia, but not a single fracture. Just torn tendons and ligaments and the mother lode of road rashes. The car was totaled. I wasn't. Once while surfing, something bumped the bottom of my board, took off a fin and left a fist sized hole in the fiberglass. Several of my friends had been bent and every one had been fine after treatment. I felt like the God who showed His presence in my life rescuing me from extraordinary circumstances was going to be with me like all the other times. I said a prayer and felt peace. I parked in the lot, stopped breathing the 100% oxygen, and walked into the hospital and told them I was bent. The first thing they did was treat me like I didn't know what I was talking about. I explained that I was the international training director for the oldest technical scuba diving agency in the USA and dive medical technician. Then, one nurse told the others that I was the diver who dove alone all the time and I probably deserved it. What? Solo diving is now acceptable today due to redundant equipment. We have C-cards for it. I taught the course. I sternly told her that and added ... "and I'm the only cave diving instructor IN THE WORLD certified to teach solo cave diving!" They took me to the ER and started "treatment." They didn't believe that I had the bends. They assumed that I had a stroke or something. I showed them the blotches all over my skin we call "skin bends." I needed O2 and chamber! They instead took me to X-Ray. They did head and chest. They got me to a table and started an I.V. and put a nasal cannula on me. I told them I needed an oxygen mask. The cannula would dilute the O2 to 30%. My cell rang and it was my buddy Bob who owned a dive shop in town. I told him I was bent and in the E.R. He came right over. He saw the nasal cannula and remarked, "That's not helping you." "I know. Tell them that." We tried to get the physician assistant in charge of the ER to call DAN and ask to speak to a hyperbaric medicine physician. He wouldn't. He told me they called an ambulance. I figured the ambulance would be the one the volunteer fire company had a few blocks away. We waited ... and waited ... and waited. Bob suggested we just get in his truck and go. We told the hospital I wanted out. They said the ambulance would be there any minute. My symptoms kept getting worse. Double vision, breathing problems, pain, numbness, dizziness, ringing ears, loss of balance. Finally, the ambulance arrived. They told me the hospital called it in as "transport only." They had made another couple of runs while I had been waiting. 7 hours after the onset of symptoms, I was finally placed in the chamber. Multiple days of chamber rides in Syracuse, NY and in Scranton, PA failed to resolve all my symptoms. The numbness in my limbs went away. My balance was better, but the severe swaying in my head, double vision, trouble processing motion, pain, nausea, constant rashes, acid reflux if I eat anything but yogurt and milk -- even with Prilosec and Protonix is permanent. Neurologists, neuro-ophthalmologists, ENT's, hyperbaric physicians, and therapists couldn't make a dent in the symptoms. After a year, they said if I didn't improve, it most likely never would. In fact, lesions form in brain DCS injuries and mimics MS. My only hope is either a miracle from God or that a lesion forms quickly in some important brain tissue controlling the heart or respiration. Every day, I'm being tortured. Imagine getting off a crazy amusement park ride where your equilibrium is affected and you walk drunkenly and feel like things are still spinning. Then, imagine it never stops. My right eye has bouncy vision and is useless for anything other than not being blind. My hair has grown long, my beard has grown in, and I wear an eye patch, but I cannot go outside even for a walk because I am too dizzy and can't process distances beyond small rooms. As a cave diving instructor, I worked with military divers. If you are a soldier and being tortured, you can't hold out indefinitely. The goal is to just hold out to maintain operational security. Then, do your best to provide as little factual information as possible. In my case, I'm holding out for ... nothing really. I'm wrestling with VSED (voluntarily stopping eating and drinking) which seems natural to me. Or, eating and just living in a world of misery I cannot even express. No dog would be left to suffer like this. I know God can work miracles and I've had lots of people praying for me. Mentally, I can't hold out indefinitely. Quality of life on a scale from 1 - 100 is a 1. I can watch TV and use the computer. My brain can't process visual motion. It's a nightmare. In high school, our youth group went to see the movie, Joni, the true story of Joni Eareckson , a seventeen-year-old girl who becomes paralyzed after a diving accident. Through her physical, emotional and spiritual struggles, Joni learns to trust in God. I imagined how I might live my life if paralyzed, blind, or missing limbs. I thought about how to cope with cancer. Now, I'm jealous of everyone who has a fast-acting cancer or even those who've been crucified. If God would let me pay for my own sins on a cross, and I could get out of life tomorrow, show me the Romans. As Christians, we are taught that God is the giver and taker of life. But, I'm caught between the cracks. I don't know if just letting go of life by not eating or drinking is suicide or just a natural way that an animal or a human just gets too ill or bone tired to do. I wish friends and family would just stop bringing me food. My mom was hospitalized for gout and everyone was tending to her. They forgot about me. It was easy to lie in bed and sleep constantly without trying to sustain life. It felt ... peaceful. My sister was just here with my nephew. She has MS. She was hospitalized the same day they brought me to Scranton for treatments closer to home. At first, they thought she had a stroke. Late onset at 48. So, now I'm trying to figure out if stopping the daily, most horrendously miserable, torture I would never want another living creature to bear is suicide, of if the strong desire to not eat, is nature's way of telling a creature, "You're too damaged to live. You've suffered enough. Let go." If it's natural, could it be God's way? Luke 6:31 "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." If I met someone suffering this way, and could feel what they felt, I'd shoot them in the head right away and gladly spend my life in the penitentiary knowing I loved another so much I gave away my freedom to take away their agony.

  10. No, ...I do not see where the stalactite "story" is a fraud, ...I just asked the question,"how a Bible believing, born again child of God can doubt God's Word in the Creation account?" I know what we saw and read in a newspaper clipping, ...what is trying to be foisted here is the same thing as those that say the Holocaust never happened, ...same denial of historical facts! Just because the "original" news article can't be found on the internet doesn't prove it to be wrong, ...I have Walter Martin's book "Kingdom of the Cults," where he has referenced many newspaper clipping, even court transcripts, ...condemning, embarrassing and exposing the cults fraudulent claims, ...surprise, surprise, ...they can't be found on the internet either! The most important "scientific" truth/fact is AI is making up false news to deceive the world, even using "important" people in all walks of life, ...so that it appears they have said something that they actually never said, ...may I humbly suggest you forget about the lies, conjecture and phony tales concerning the past millions of years and search into what is actually taking place on this planet today! Like the old saying goes, "Truth is always stranger than fiction." So now then, ...the onus is on you, ...please show us where what you believe is found in God's Word, ...please give us chapter and verse, ...NOT taken out of the original context as the Holy Spirit wrote it... Context, context, context, a pretext is a verse taken out of it's context...

  11. The Bible clearly teaches this world that God created solely by His Supreme Fiat ("Let there be Light") etc is less than 10,000 years old. The Old and New Testament genealogies establish this beyond doubt. Until about 200 years ago, all Christians unanimously believed it. We don't have to retreat from the falsely so-called "science" of evolution, but must, Scientifically and Scripturally, challenge and refute it. As certainly as we can know Our Lord Jesus Christ became Incarnate in the Flesh about 2000 years ago, we can know the Prophet Moses lived about 1500 years before His birth, the Patriarch Abraham about 500 years before that, and that Adam himself lived most certainly within 10,000 years ago. Before about 25 years ago, when DNA (whose half-life Nature calculates at about 521 years) was demonstrably and repeatedly found in several of planet Earth's most ancient fossils, it was almost universally agreed (and still is largely agreed) that DNA could not survive for more than about 10,000 years. Like soft tissues in ancient fossils, C14 in rocks, minerals, living organisms and all the places it shouldn't be, Helium still being in radioactive rocks (all of which would have diffused out long ago, Helium being the second lightest element in the periodic table), this aDNA (antediluvian or ancient DNA) as it is now called, presents a serious challenge for long-agers and for evolutionists. See Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_DNA "1990s The post-PCR era heralded a wave of publications as numerous research groups tried their hands at aDNA. Soon a series of incredible findings had been published, claiming authentic DNA could be extracted from specimens that were millions of years old, into the realms of what Lindahl (1993b) has labelled Antediluvian DNA.[9] The majority of such claims were based on the retrieval of DNA from organisms preserved in amber. Insects such as stingless bees,[10] termites,[11] and wood gnats,[12] as well as plant[13] and bacterial[14] sequences were extracted from Dominican amber dating to the Oligocene epoch. Still older sources of Lebanese amber-encased weevils, dating to within the Cretaceous epoch, reportedly also yielded authentic DNA.[15] DNA retrieval was not limited to amber. See also: "https://www.icr.org/article/squid-fossils-ancient-dna-young-earth "The field of biology has provided much support for a recent creation, and physical evidence of very young-looking biological materials from supposedly ancient fossils continues to accrue from around the world, and from various depths under the earth. In August of this year, paleontologists in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England, made a discovery that astounded the evolutionary community. A "150 million-year-old" squid was discovered with an intact ink sac. "It is difficult to imagine how you can have something as soft and sloppy as an ink sac…inside a rock that is 150 million years old," said Dr. Phil Wilby of the British Geological Survey.1 Creationists agree and see this as physical evidence that clearly points to its recent burial and preservation."

There are other ways but there is only One Absolute Way The Way Jesus is The Way.No other way matches up to the loving God.If you had been getting shelter from other ways and are comfortable with them remember that those shelters are only temporary which are gone in a jiffy.Taking comfort in temporal shelters is nothing compared to taking comfort in Jesus alone. All other ways fail.Lean on the Absolute Truth and He will never fail you.Amen

  14. Exactly! Oh, that more brothers and sisters would see this. That passage comes to my mind s0 often when I am praying for others. Our prayer in faith does make a difference! One of my former pastors used to say, "Lord, we lift these requests to you on the stretchers of our prayers." Luke 5 (NASB says stretcher, KJV says bed, couch) 17. And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them. 18. And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. 19. And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. 20. And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. 21. And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? 22. But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? 23. Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? 24. But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. 25. And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. God's will for His people is health and wholeness of spirit, soul, and body. May God cause His intercessors here to reach out by faith and agreement to take hold of Trace's "stretcher," and by faith lift him to the LORD for healing. God IS able and willing. (And Trace, you would give more people opportunity to gather around you in prayer, if you'd put post a simple thread in the Prayer Request forum.)

  15. Perhaps Trace, it is wise to not leave any stone unturned. Exhaust every avenue. The man lifted to the roof by his faithful friends was healed Jesus said---"By their faith." Sounds strange to go into a river and dip yourself seven times, but there was healing. Only remembering that Jesus is the One who ultimately is in control. God bless you.

  16. This would be a fun discussion in an English class. The KJV says, "eagles," and the NIV says, "vultures." This could be interpreted as Jesus was simply painting a picture of a dead body being pecked at by birds of prey, or if one wanted to read into it, "a dead body" could be a body of faith, believers or the church and the "vultures" could be those who would prey upon that body. Like, if the members of that body are asleep at the wheel and not paying attention, the opportunists could rise to positions of power and exploit others. The context of the verse doesn't help because Jesus is talking about the Son of Man returning and people being taken. Taken in death? Or, taken in some sort of rapture? Some Bible commentaries suggest that Jesus used the image of a gathering of vultures as a way of describing a sign that the second coming would take place. It's one of the more mysterious set of verses in the Bible.

  17. The church was not given a mandate to be involved in political activism...only to go and make disciples. The gospel is our only mandate. Jesus did not involve Himself in political things...He FLED the temptation of being crowned king of Israel. Injustices in the world are not our business in terms of activism, except that as Christians we do what we can individually to help a suffering neighbour, or a church as a whole can offer relief and help within a neighbourhood. However, when injustices are occurring within the body of Christ....it needs to be addressed. Not our business to judge those outside, but to judge those inside the church. And....I hear people blaming women for the problems in the church nowadays....but I read where being "ruled over by women" is a judgment of God, not the reason for the problems.....but it is the judgment of God for those problems. Anyway we are in the falling away now....and the only instruction I hear from the Lord is to come out of her, because He IS judging His house just as the time came in 70 AD when He judged Israel of old. Not one stone left on another. When you see "Jerusalem" surrounded by armies, about to be judged....FLEE to the mountains (high places in God). And for the church in the wilderness that has come outside the camp, by the grace of the Lord we don't want to repeat the same mistakes as the church that is now being judged.

  18. If a Christian is honest, not only with others, but with themselves, then they know that most sins they commit are not accidents. If a Christian is not honest, then they will pretend that all the sins they commit, are accidents, or happened by surprise. So, there is nothing that threatens "Salvation", unless Salvation is based on behavior, as a Legalist would try to teach you to believe. The GOOD NEWS< is that Jesus came to be our sin bearer, He has borne ALL our sins on the Cross and He is now literally our Advocate in Heaven. Romans 4:8 teaches that once you are born again, God does not "impute" your sin to you any longer in eternity. (charge you) and that includes the so called "willful sin" that heretics try to twist out of the epistle to the Hebrews. And why does God not hold you accountable in Eternity for your sin, willful, accidental, or however you describe your sinning? Its because Jesus has already died for them ALL. Every single one you have committed, are committing, or ever will commit. This means that God holds JESUS accountable for all sin, sinning, sins. No matter how you label them. Christ died for them ALL, for the "sin of the world", and that includes all of yours, all of mine, and any that we the born again commit after we are saved. Jesus said.. "if possible let this CUP pass from me" ... and the CUP is the full wrath of God's judgment against sin.. The Cross is the eternal penalty JESUS paid for all our sin, for the sin of the world, and it has been paid in FULL. Thank you Jesus. !

Matthew 5:13-16) 12Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. 14Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; 16Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain. 17Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all. 18For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me. Timothy and Epaphroditus 19But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. 20For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. 21For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's. 22But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel. 23Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me. 24But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly. Epaphroditus Commended 25Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants. 26For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick. 27For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. 28I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful. 29Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation: 30Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me. The Jews and the Law 17Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God, 18And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law; 19And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness, 20An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. 21Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? 22Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? 23Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God? 24For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written. 25For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision. 26Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? 27And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law? 28For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. 21. I believe all who have posted replies in this thread are proper in the manner of seeking truth, and I believe (suspecting the same for most) it's through God using one another in the Body. As it's been mentioned, God gives some understanding more than others, and it's my belief He does this in accordance to how much we give ourselves to learning to love others as Christ loved, because it's always all about God's love in the believer and to others, esp. other believers! Concerning the issue whether or not Christians will be in the tribulation, what we understand and believe concerning our thoughts on the Book of Revelation, it's mainly for the blessing of encouragement, and has no effect of one's eternal salvation. We will learn what God will be showing us independently, according to our maturity level in Christ and the Word. I believe it's mostly what we do with the Pauline Epistles, because God has used Paul the most for our spiritual growth in the Lord Jesus, through His love in us for one another.

  24. It sounds like you're having a sense of righteous indignation on the Lord's behalf. Not an unusual feeling to have, especially if there's continual cursings going on around you. Makes for a very negative environment, no doubt. You are being offended by all this, and certainly the Lord isn't pleased having His name slurred in such a manner. It's helpful to attempt at keeping your mind focused on God's love for them, and also His desire for their coming to Christ in repentance. May the Lord continue to bless your endeavors in seeking after His will for your life. Shalom, David/BeauJangles P.S. Great to see you here in the forums, brother.

  25. At first it may be hard for me to remember forgiveness in the immediate moment, but that is something I am working on. But I can absolutely add this to my daily prayers so that it may become routine for me. Being new on a journey of faith is frustrating in moments where I do not always remember these things the moment I need to take them to heart, but being reminded of them at the end of the day is so helpful. Thank you.

  27. I think it is important to gently tell a brother or sister if they are misusing the Lord's name, but it is hardly meaningful to unsaved people. When I was an atheist, I could not have cared less. God was merely a word you mocked. However, after becoming a Christian, I worked at a school teaching computers. I could not talk to them, so I simply acted Christ-like. At the end of the year, one student hugged me and told me I was the best teacher. I asked why: "Because you're just different, in a good way." Students remember what someone does; words are forgotten quickly. I think people are searching for something they know in their lives is missing. They are not sure what it is. We can show them in a gentle way.

Foul language is the norm and if you say something they will do it more just to get under your skin lol. I don't know your environment but where I'm from the best advice is to take the verse "be in the world but not of it" to heart and just not sweat the small things. Remember you can't expect a non saved person to act like a saved person.

  29. The same as no blindness is on Israel any more, it is on the whole world instead. Women do not have to worry about the role of men, it is temporary, neither make nor female, and no marriage in Heaven. As Christ gave His life for the church, so ought men to love their own wives, and I think every women with a heart made by the Lord, can only feel tat kind of love is worthwhile, and has every meaning for them. These days men are only talkers, and so much so, that women took over some of their roles, preaching, becoming strong, doing all a guy would do and be, because who they should rely on, is unreliable. The head of the woman is supposed to be the man, just as Christ is the head of the man, but men think they are their own head, so what is left for anyone seeking the Lord. If a man then cant find a faithful women, and a woman cant see any faithful in the Lord men, it still has a purpose, so our trust goes only and sincerely in the Lord, even as God left us some thoughts, how the unmarried cares for the things of the Lord, how they may please Him. Take time out, learn the lessons of this life, with God the life goes on forever, with a man or a woman, they are the same anyone found in the past, which was an end to their life. But a faithful one can be given from the Lord, the Lord proves our faith in Him first.

  30. In my response to the OP, I posted the passage from Revelation 13 in response to the assertion that the great tribulation is about God's wrath, meaning that the church would be removed because the fight is not with them. Revelation 13 says exactly the opposite, that the great tribulation is about the enemy persecuting the followers of Christ, precisely why the OP suggests the church would be removed. The response I got was to suggest that I misunderstand what Revelation 13 says. You agreed with it, so that is why you received the response I gave inquiring about it. If I am misunderstanding Revelation 13, then it would seem someone who disagrees should explain why that is. That's why we're having this discussion isn't it? Because I was told that these commentators couldn't possibly be in error? If you think I believe I have all the answers, let me save you the suspense, I don't. I already know that. You're making assumptions about me that are way off base. God bless

  31. You are not alone, Wingnut. Trying to determine what theology fits best with scripture is a very long process in biblical studies, a study that very few take the time to endeavor. Many would rather be fed the information than to do their own research. I was guilty of this for many years and held to one belief because it was a common belief. It was not until I was challenged to provide scriptural proof did I step outside of the excepted norm and seek a deeper understanding. Still, to this day, the only timing of the rapture I have found is "at the last trumpet" - 1 Corinthians 15:52. Everything else people point to are only indicators of what is or is not to happen to believers. Just like the meaning of the last trumpet, many try to determine the full meaning behind vague passages, as it is human nature and need to understand mysteries. My final take is if it is true we will not see the tribulation, Good! If it is true that we will live through part of the tribulation, Good! God will provide for those who live during this time just as He did the Israelite's during the plagues in Egypt. If we are to live through the tribulation period until the 7th trumpet is blown, Good! Again, God will provide those who are His until then. If we are to live through all the tribulation until Jesus's Second Coming, Good! Again, God will provide for His children. Through all this, no matter which is His timing, those who are His He will provide for. We are to continue in Him, doing His will for us, until we are taken from this life. To do this, I also agree with you that it is key to follow Proverbs 3:5-6. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. People forget that we see through a glass darkly, or in a mirror dimply, until we leave this life and are with Christ, face to face (1 Corinthians 13:12). Due to either ego or pride, people argue their personal understanding as if it were the final word and salvation depends on acceptance, which I was also guilty of until I stopped depending on other peoples understanding and started searching scripture for myself. Then I realized that God did not give us all the information we would need to determine when the event will happen as He wants us to have Faith in Him, not in our own understanding.

  32. Verse 1 repeats the prayer from Aaron to the Hebrew people in Numbers 6:24-26. But David extends the idea and tells WHY it's important that we prayer for God to be gracious and to bless us. It's not for our comfort or just to have a good life. It's for God to become KNOWN to the nations. So that his "power" is known. And what kind of power - says David? His "saving power". Sometimes when I pray for people to be healed or come through a bad time, I pray for God to receive glory from it. I think I'll start including that God's "saving power" will be known to people when he heals, saves, and provides for his people. That's what this life is about - being drawn into salvation by God through Jesus Christ - and sharing that with all we can.

  33. I agree it is very misunderstood, but I guess where we differ is you are of the opinion it was better understood in the past than it is today. What I read above to me is a recipe for disaster, in that the inference that I need to rely on another mans understanding is the exact way I see cults born. From scripture alone we are told to "lean not on our own understanding", and you imply that I should lean on someone else's? The biblical model is that we are to test all things against scripture. There was in fact a group that Paul spoke to, the Bereans, who were commended for their approach in not simply taking Paul's word on a matter, but taking what he said and searching it out for themselves in scripture. This is how one avoids being misled or chasing after false teachers, so I respectfully disagree with your above assertion. The body of Christ is alive and well today, and all parts are functioning as they should. John 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. As the passage I originally posted says, along with what the Spirit says to the 7 churches, if anyone has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. God bless

Others hold on to some perceived, small wrong done to them and refuse to let it go. If we are Christians, we should forgive as Jesus taught us.

  36. I guess he didn't bother to read this part, the great tribulation, and what it really is about. Revelation 13:5 And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven. 7 Also it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation, 8 and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain. 9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear: 10 If anyone is to be taken captive, to captivity he goes; if anyone is to be slain with the sword, with the sword must he be slain. Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.

  37. In America in this day and age; I don't know what occupations you may be referring to with harsher conditions, lower pay and longer hours than men? Please expound. But anyway: America so far is a capitalistic society, quickly drifting toward a socialistic society. Entrepreneur's risk their own capitol and well being to create companies for profit. In doing so they provide the needed jobs for people to support their own families. How many poor people provide jobs and job opportunities? This generates growth, income, opportunities they didn't have; contributes to the economy, society and tax base. That company or industry wasn't created out of love for humanity or the purpose of providing a living for someone. It was created because of a need for something and that need is provided with the intent of making a profit. If a certain percentage of profit is not realized, the company folds and goes bankrupt. Whom is the government or anyone else; to tell me whom I should hire, how much I should pay them, and what benefits I should provide? I didn't risk everything I own to pacify your wants and demands. You know the work, hours, pay and benefits; take it or leave it and go elsewhere if you don't like it. You came to me, I didn't come to you, life is not fair. Will my business survive worrying about your personal problems and situation you found yourself in? Will your life be any better tripling your pay at McDonald's flipping burgers for $15.00 per hour, when the Big Mac is $9.50 to cover the cost of unskilled labor increases? In secular world business, your worth is determined by your skill, potential production, education, what you bring to the table to better the business and profits; not you owes me a living. Some tasks men perform much better than women, and vice versa. Tasks that require physical strength [military, combat, pulling a 225# man out of a burning house, police officer detaining a male, etc.] are better suited for those with comparable strengths. Feminism demands women be employed in those fields that were traditionally male dominated. To do so, the employment standards had to be downgraded and relaxed for segments of our society to qualify.

  40. Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. The law can save no one. We are justified by faith in Christ Jesus, by believing the gospel of Grace. 3:29 Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: 3:30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. Jew and Gentile are justified by faith. Without the law. Without the covenants of Israel. Without good works. Without water baptism. Without walking down an aisle. Without confessing. We are justified by faith alone. It has always been by grace, by faith, that one can be justified. It has always been by the justification found in Christ that God could be just in forgiving sin; this was only made known by the revelations given to Paul. 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. The law is not made void by faith. The law is not made void because Gentiles, not given the law, are saved by faith. Romans 4:1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? 4:2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. 4:3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Abraham was justified unto eternal life by believing God. Abraham was justified by works when he obeyed God and was willing to offer up Isaac. There is more than one meaning to justification; look at Psalm 51:4 where God is declared to be righteous in his judgment. There is justification unto eternal life as when Abraham by faith, believed God (Genesis 15:6). There is justification in being righteous as when Abraham was justified by works (Genesis 22:2 James 2:21). It should be noted that Abraham was justified by faith in Genesis 15:6, but after Genesis 15:6 covenant was made with Abraham. Covenant was made in Genesis 15:18 wherein God promised the land to his seed. God made covenant in Genesis 17:2 in which God promised to multiply Abraham exceedingly. God made covenant in Genesis 17:4 in which God promised to make Abraham father of many nations. God made in Genesis 17:10 the covenant of circumcision. In Genesis 17:1 God told Abraham to be perfect (whole, without blemish) before him. In Genesis 17:2 God said he would make the promised covenant if Abraham was perfect before him. Abraham had to keep the covenant (Genesis 17:9). The book of James says faith was made perfect by works (James 2:22), so it can be seen that Abraham was justified by works under the covenants made by God and his faith made perfect. 4:4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. If we could produce good works God would be obligated by debt to repay us; this would not be grace. Grace is given not out of debt, but love. 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. God justifies the ungodly. We do not have to be righteous to be saved. We do not have to turn from sin and clean up to be saved. We have to believe on Jesus Christ who paid the penalty for our sin and justifies us freely by faith in his blood (Romans 3:24-25). Out of love and thankfulness we can, and should live in newness of life unto him (Romans 6:4

Let's think twice before we make a rash vow to God.

I don't see anything wrong with "feelings, self esteem, feel good music and worship, health, wealth and prosperity," as long as it's in proper context. If Jesus Christ is the pinnacle of ones life in the surest fullest relationship then I would think all of that is exactly as promised, and more. The problem is those things tend to interrupt the relationship and become the reason for living, the acme of existence, and the vision of heavenly rewards is dulled, as well as the consequences for the lack of vision and the close relationship with our Savior. "When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it." Not much has changed.

You mentioned Joni she is quite a good example. I don't have that many answers about this but I know God is perfect and can be trusted to help you through this. Keep praying. I am praying for you. I am not throwing out these verses just like that. I know God's word is true. Cling to God's promises. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28. The below was his plan for Paul. We don't know what God will is for you yet keep trusting and praying. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. 10That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.… 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Healing ministers would say if we don't get better it's bc we don't really believe it. I'm not so sure they are correct. But suppose a believer is in prayer 1 night and he thinks he hears the Holy Spirit talking to him. I am convinced this happens to us, although not by our will or needs, but as God wants it to it does happen. I knew a man who was always sick with every cold and flu bug going around. It sure made it hard for him to hold down a job, luckily he didn't have to. He still hated being sick. He says that 1 night he heard God tell him, in his spirit, that he doesn't have to be sick Jesus did it for him. I figured he was imaging things as he was wont to do. But a few months later, due to a death in his family, he suddenly had to hold down a job, hold a job or become homeless. He took a grueling 12 hr a day job. A few yrs later he said he still had that job. I asked how he did it. He said the Lord made it possible for him to not get sick with any minor ailments anymore. It seems almost beyond belief. But when God wants a thing to happen, it surly will. This guy doesn't lie.
