  1. Whenever I see a post ladled deep with big, unending slabs'o'text, I get a severe case of MEGA (my eyes glaze over) and give it a hard pass. And I'll bet I'm not the only one.

  2. I have taken notice that there seems to be some lately who believe scripture bombing is the best way to get their point across. On the contrary, all it does is loose the attention of those they want to reach. Instead of taking the time to have a conversation, as a teacher should do, those who use this technique basically are doing just the opposite. By imposing your view with a litany of scripture, you provide a narrow view of what you belief the scripture means and discourages others to reply due to a very long list of scripture they would be required to reply to. Where is the conversation? Where is the desire to truly reach someone? It's not there. Instead, scripture bombing overwhelms the reader, nothing else. It seems this technique is a persons means of leaving the reader with a conviction that if they do not agree they are, somehow, either lacking in understanding, faith or revelation, just the opposite of what a true teacher would want their audience to feel. Instead of creating one post with many ideas, supported with many bible verses, shorten your response one idea at a time. By touching on one point at a time, you will not loose your audience and turn people away. Scripture is His word to us and should invite others to consider what is being said. It is not to be used to turn people away from understanding. Just as bible thumping never brought any positive results, scripture bombing doesn't either.

  4. Another thing that can sometimes be aggravating, especially when combined with scripture-bombing, to me, is extensive QUOTING. So someone posts a mile-long scripture Hiroshima, someone follows it who might want to comment on a small part of it, yet they use the QUOTE FEATURE to repeat the entire bomb, another commenter does the same, and I am just scrolling and scrolling down through the same list of scripture verses.

  6. The Trouble with Tribulation “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation…” (2 Corinthians 1:3,4a) Both our Lord and the Apostles warned us in Scripture that times of persecution would come upon the people of God. They warned us that tribulation would follow genuine devotion to Christ. Throughout the centuries the authentic followers of Jesus Christ have suffered greatly for their faith. They have been slandered, mocked, beaten, crucified, stoned, ravaged by wild beasts, tortured on the rack, sold into slavery, burned at the stake, and had their heads cut off for the sake of the true Gospel. Even today, all around the world, Christians are suffering horrible tribulation for their devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, more and more, this persecution is coming to America. And because of poor teaching, the American church is ill-prepared to deal with it. We orthodox evangelicals pride ourselves in our ability to rightly divide the Word of God. We preach and teach the Historical / Grammatical method of interpretation, and rightly so. To us, the idea of reading allegories or other foreign ideas into the text is reprehensible. We also tend to pride ourselves on our ability to weed out theological positions that are purely based on false traditions and cultic mysticism, rather than solid scriptural evidence. This is because we rightly believe the Word of God is the inerrant final authority on all matters of faith and practice. For the most part, orthodox evangelicals contend for these hermeneutical principles in every area of theology, with one exception, eschatology. When it comes to the end times, preachers use all kinds of poetic license to develop their pet theories. No longer do they adhere to the notion that the Bible interprets the Bible; and that context determines the exact meaning of words. With eschatology, they tend to speculate when the bible is silent, and they diminish the clear meaning of God’s Word when it does not fit their narrative. With eschatology, all the rules are thrown out so they can change the meaning of words (just like cult leaders do) to support their aberrant end-time doctrines. I will give you one glaring example of this trend using the word “tribulation.” The most popular end-times scenario, popularized by the late Tim Lehay and Jerry B. Jenkins in their Left Behind series of books goes something like this: The Great Tribulation is a period of future time when God’s wrath is poured out on the earth against unbelievers. This period of time lasts 7 years and marks the rise of the Antichrist. Since Christians are not subject to the wrath of God, all true believers in Christ will be raptured off planet earth just prior to the start of this seven year tribulation period. Sounds good, but there is a serious flaw in this definition of the word “tribulation.” Only a few times in scripture is the word tribulation used to speak of God’s punishment of the wicked. In 2 Thessalonians chapter one, God promises tribulation (affliction) to the ungodly immediately after He appears at His second coming. And in Revelation chapter two, Jesus says He will use tribulation (affliction) as a means of chastisement for the woman called Jezebel and those who follow her. All the rest of the references to tribulation are about Christians suffering affliction for their faith. There is a serious problem with equating the concept of the great tribulation with the wrath of God. Because these ideas are two different concepts. Predominately the word “tribulation” in Scripture means the wrath of demoniacally inspired unbelievers persecuting the true believers of God. Thus, when authentic Christians are persecuted for their steadfast loyalty to the Savior Jesus Christ, they suffer tribulation. This tribulation is the wrath of Satan on genuine born again Christians. But on the other hand, “wrath” is God punishing the wicked for their sins, especially those who persecute true believers. Therefore, one concept is the wrath of God, and the other, the great tribulation, is the wrath of Satan. Somehow through the writings of John Nelson Darby and C. I. Scofield, these concepts got intermingled and confused. To many evangelicals, Darby and Scofield are prophets of equal worth to the original 12 apostles. To them, when Scofield speaks, God must surrender to his interpretation. This is the kind of false traditionalism that many evangelicals unfortunately like. Since by their tradition, when Scofield speaks the debate is ended. And since Scofield has spoken, there is no need to test the spirits to see if they are of God. But if we really want to be true to our Reformation roots, we must examine what Darby, Scofield, Lehay, Jenkins and other pre-tribulationist say in the light of Scripture, just like anyone else. Let’s get the definition of “tribulation” and see if it fits the Scofield / Lahay scenario. In Vine’s Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words, the word tribulation means “affliction.” He wrote that the great tribulation is a time when the fury (wrath) of antichristian powers are focused on the Palestinian Jews primarily, and on the Gentile witnesses of God secondarily. In other words, the great tribulation is the distress of God’s people when they are persecuted by the enemies of God. Additionally, in Arndt and Gingrich’s Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament, tribulation is defined by the Greek words thlibo and thipsis to primarily mean the distress of Christians as they are persecuted, afflicted and troubled by outward forces and circumstances. This definition is clearly taught by our Lord as He spoke to his disciples (the church) about the end-times, “Therefore when you (the church) see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (whoever reads, let him understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let him who is on the house-top not go down to take anything out of his house. And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect sake those days shall be shortened.” (Matthew 24:15-22) It is therefore evident by the context of Jesus Christ’s words that the great tribulation is defined as a time of horrible persecution of God’s elect, the church, who must flee from the wrath of Satan that comes by way of the Antichrist. The prophet Daniel said this period of time would last 3 ½ years and that “the power of the holy people (saints/elect) [would be] completely shattered.” (Daniel 12:7) Therefore the elect must endure through the great tribulation. This is the plain and correct meaning of both texts. And as the Lord tells us in the Book of Revelation, “Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, ‘Who are these arrayed in white robes, where did they come from?’ And I said to him, ‘Sir, you know.’ So he said to me, ‘These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.’” (Revelation 7:13,14) To come out of something means you first have to be in something. These are Christians who were martyred in the great tribulation. Thus, the great tribulation is not God’s wrath on unbelievers, but Satan’s antichristian wrath upon authentic blood bought believers in Christ. The term “elect” means anyone who is in Christ at the time. But again, based on the writings of Scofield and other per-tribulation rapture theorists, the great tribulation is equal to the wrath of God. However, there is no evidence of this in Scripture. And because the Apostle Paul tells us Christians are not “appointed to wrath” (1 Thessalonians. 5:9), they assume Christians do not have to suffer through the great tribulation. But there is nothing in Scripture that specifically states every Christian is exempt from tribulation, including the great tribulation. In fact the opposite is true, as the Apostle Paul said, “So that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure, which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you suffer.” (II Thessalonians 1:4,5) Some Christians may be spared persecution in the great tribulation by the Lord in His sovereignty (Revelation 3:7-13), but many others will suffer for Christ. Even today, prior to the great tribulation, many people suffer horrible persecution and tribulation in hostile parts of the world, while other Christians live in relative peace and safety. During the great tribulation, a few pockets of Christians may be spared by God, but most Christians will endure the greatest tribulation the world has ever seen. And as Christ said, unless He shortened those days, no flesh would be spared. But for the sake of the elect (the Church), he shortens those days. There is a massive multi-million dollar industry dedicated to the assumption that the great tribulation is equal to the wrath of God. These proponents of the pre-tribulation rapture make millions of dollars writing books and making movies assuring Christian they do not have to suffer persecution or tribulation for their faith prior to the rapture. But these massive, complicated and bulky theories are held up by the flimsiest of Scriptural speculation and wordplay. It is like trying to lift the weight of an elephant off the ground using a kite string. No matter how hard you try the weight will break that string. Defining the great tribulation as the wrath of God is the kite string that can’t support the theory. It is the lynchpin that connects the whole thing. Without it, the entire theory falls apart. The Left Behind doctrines are nothing more than giant sand castles, giving people the false hope of evacuation just prior to a tsunami of end-time persecution. So instead of soberly preparing people to face the tribulation to come, the American evangelical church is throwing parties in their fortresses made of sand. Instead of putting on the whole armor of God, the church is putting on its party hat. Instead of making solid disciples, the church is making spiritual revelers, drunk on the wine of end-time myths and fables. Once these notions are dispelled, the entire theory is washed away by the reality of Christ’s sobering predictions. I believe the Lord is calling us back to His word. Back to counting the costs involved with true discipleship and devotion to Jesus Christ. We need to stop acting like the victory is final, because there is still more to come. We need to stop the elitist mentality that assumes persecution can never happen to us. We need to stop partying like we are already in Heaven. We need to stop the complacency and tom-foolery associated with false security. We need to take off our party hats and put back on the whole armor of God so we can stand in the evil day. We need to remember God has called us to be willing to suffer tribulation for His namesake. We need to be soberly prepared to walk through the great tribulation. We need to understand once again this world is not our home, and that we are only passing through on our way to our glorious reward in the life to come. We need to be prepared, along with our brothers and sisters around the world, to give up everything, even our lives if necessary, to be with the Lord in glory. The trouble with tribulation is that it is coming our way. Are you spiritually prepared? https://pulpitandpen.org/2017/11/09/the-trouble-with-tribulation/

  7. Science Fiction is filled with stories of time travel where someone is looking to rewrite history or a personal wrong done to him/her or by him/her in the past. Movies, stories, letters and television have delved into this concept since the 18th century or maybe even before. It's an appealing concept from a secular level where a person could fix a wrong he/she committed in the past and make it right thereby achieving there own redemption. We probably all have past situations that we wish we could change. Jesus knows our past and future; our missed opportunities and regrets. Jesus is the only way, the ultimate truth and the everlasting life we strive for. Relying upon the shed blood of Jesus to cleanse us from all our shortcomings, is the only way to reconcile our live to His. Live your life so you minimize your longings for second chances. But know that when you fail, Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

  8. What does it mean that all creation groans (Romans 8:22)? If you’ve ever longed to be released from your earthly body to be free from sin and the physical suffering associated with it, then you know something of what Paul meant when he said, “All creation groans” in Romans 8:22. To better understand the meaning of all creation groans, it helps to consider the context. In Romans 8, the apostle Paul is teaching believers that their new life in Jesus Christ is solidly founded on God’s promises and plans for His children. The first promise Paul touches on is that of future glory: “I consider our present sufferings insignificant compared to the glory that will soon be revealed to us” (Romans 8:18, GW). We may suffer now through our journey here on earth, but Paul reminds us that this world is not our home (1 Peter 2:11; Hebrews 11:13). Awaiting us is a glorious future kingdom where death is defeated, and tears of sorrow, pain, and grief will all be wiped away (Revelation 21:4). When we firmly lay hold of this promise from God, we can begin to view our current troubles as light and momentary compared to the far greater eternal weight of glory (2 Corinthians 4:17). In Romans 8:19, Paul says that all creation is eagerly awaiting that future glorious day when God’s children become who they were always meant to be. J. B. Phillips’ New Testament in Modern English renders verse 19 like this: “The whole creation is on tiptoe to see the wonderful sight of the sons of God coming into their own.” Because of the fall of man, every part of God’s creation was subjected to a curse (Romans 8:20). Under that curse, all creation groans: the ground was cursed for Adam’s sake, thorns and thistles and noxious weeds began to grow, all of Eve’s daughters have labored painfully in childbirth, and death entered the world (Genesis 3:14–19). In Romans 8:21, Paul explains that the entire universe, held under the curse, eagerly longs for the day when it will join with God’s children in glorious liberation from death and decay. Paul is speaking of the new heavens and new earth when “no longer will there be any curse” (Revelation 22:3). The curse of sin will be lifted, and all creation will be restored to the Eden-like reflection of God’s glory (Isaiah 65:17; 66:22; 2 Peter 3:13). “‘There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Revelation 21:4). Right now the entire creation reflects the curse of sin. All creation “groans”; that is, all created things suffer a common misery, being in a state of pain and disorder. The “groaning” is intense, as Paul’s simile shows: “as in the pains of childbirth.” When at last sin is removed from the children of God, all of nature will burst forth in glory. The full work of redemption includes the reversal of the curse. As part of creation, “we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us” (Romans 8:23, NLT). God promises a magnificent future for the believer, complete with a brand-new, glorified body. At present, we only have a taste of our glorious future, through the presence of the Holy Spirit within us. He is the down payment, or deposit, guaranteeing our full adoption as God’s children and the release of our bodies from sin and suffering (2 Corinthians 1:22; 5:5; Ephesians 1:13–14; 4:30). In the meantime, all creation groans—believers, along with the rest of the fallen universe, travail as a woman in childbirth, longing to be clothed in their heavenly bodies (2 Corinthians 5:2). Significantly, the pain of childbirth is not endured without the hope of new life. Paul, knowing that hope transforms suffering, gave believers this inspiring metaphor. Just as a woman labors through the agony of birth pangs with the hope of new life, all creation groans as it waits for the promise of full and final restoration and redemption. We may suffer now, but our heavenly reward is worth the wait.

  10. Yet, there reason why we should always be ready. We are not guaranteed tomorrow. We are not even guaranteed the next second. Why even worry about when the rapture will happen at all? But the discussion is an interesting one. I use to think the rapture could happen before the tribulation because I was told it would and that His children were not going to feel His wrath. It all sounded so good and cozy. Then I studied the bible myself and was surprised that what I was told did not hold up to scripture. There is more than one way to be kept from His wrath. I've tried to stay out of the debates about it, but when a normal conversation comes up, I sometimes will throw in what it was that made me look deeper.

In the meantime the instruments are merely detecting urbanization, the increased co2 and temp levels in localized urban areas (3% of earth). Humans are breathing higher co2 levels in cities. Does that influence the other 97% of the landmass? I would like to know.

Still again, that is not what scripture bombing is, and since that is the focus of this thread, it's important to the topic that this be understood. If you look at your post you will also notice that Jesus spoke about individual subjects while keeping His answers short and to the point. Nowhere do we find Jesus quoting all the verses from the OT He knew of to support His point, as people do with scripture bombing. There is a difference and I hope that people can see that.

The Fact is that what has been shown to have the greatest impact on weather is not CO2, but dust particles in the atmosphere, and cloud cover. So for example, when there is a large volcanic eruption that places particles into the upper atmosphere there is cooling, and when we go through a cycle of less volcanic activity, we go through a cycle of warming. The same can be said of dust via dust storms, and as a matter of fact the cloud cover that is created by Con trails of jet flight result in cooler temperatures, because these clouds block the suns radiation from reaching earth. So Jet flight is causing global cooling if any thing, as is the particulate pollution in general. Although none of these things are good for our health. http://www.climate4you.com/images/LowCloudCoverVersusGlobalSurfaceAirTemperature.gif https://notrickszone.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Kauppinen-and-Malmi-2019-cloud-temperature-correlation.jpg This last chart is an older one from 2008, after 2008 there was an increase in volcanic activity around the world, though not all eruptions place particulates high into the atmosphere like Pinatubo did in that chart, But what we saw was a period of global cooling from about 2010-2016 from that increase in volcanic activity. which led to that great movie known as the "Day after tomorrow" which promoted a global ice age. Basically, It is all just Hype to get you scared so you give up your sovereignty and power to global governance so that they can tax the very air you breath (out), and to enslave the population to the new Elite hierarchy of Bureaucrats and oligarchs. As you can see here, cloud cover has a direct influence on the global temperatures globally, reducing man made pollutants thus will result in global warming, not global cooling. So the solution will make the problem worse, and the snowball will roll until all human life is viewed as a burden to mother nature and must be exterminated. I as a Christian cannot accept this sort of conclusion, and I as a man with common sense, cannot accept this kind of false claims that says that man is the direct cause of global warming. It is nothing more than a lie driven by greed and the lust for power. CO2 is the Lifeblood of the plant world, the more CO2 the more the plant world thrives, and the greater the yield agriculturally. This is how God created the earth to sustain an increasing population. Global periods of warming lead to drought, and the increase in particulates in the atmosphere via dust storms which in turn leads to global cooling and the restore equilibrium. There is some suggestion that volcanic activity is also correlated to periods of global warming as well, https://newatlas.com/climate-volcanic-activity-link/25520/ All that being said, Is this not a marvelous world God has created for us?

  24. CP, growing up in the 70's the cry was global cooling and a coming ice age, then in the 90's it became global warming and carbon emissions. Now it is "man made" climate change. And that is where my problem lies with this. As You can see the scientists do not have a clue what to call it so they are now in the "climate change camp" which is like saying, the climate is changing but we have no idea which way it will change. What in fact is the case if you extend all those graphs back to the mini ice age, you will find that earth in general is in a warming trend which began long before the industrial revolution and has little or nothing to do with being "man made". Within that warming cycle there are ebbs and flows in the warming and cooling direction. Before the mini ice age, this general direction was heading in the global cooling direction. Here is the kicker for me, why I as a Christian cannot support the legislation proposed to alter the warming, Because ultimately the cause of the Warming is not man made. By blaming man for the warming, they are in fact saying that human life is to blame and that in order to control this warming Human life must be snuffed out via population control, Euthanasia, Abortion, and in the end genocide of people's based on their value to society. That is the end result of all of this legislation, because when restrictions on carbon emissions have no effect (because global warming is not man made), then eventually this will be used to justify genocide and population control. I as a Christian see this outcome, in this false agenda driven narrative, and if you do not believe this to be the case then go look up the facts on these global ventures such as the Gates foundation, and others who are even now promoting population controls to augment the reduction of CO2 emissions. What this Global governance also does is take incentive and sovereignty out of the nations and individuals, and grants it to unelected bureaucrats thus making an unaccountable and dictatorial hierarchy in charge of the lives of the People. What is the next step in that process, when tyrants rule and people have no power? Sad to say, but History is repeating itself, Only now instead of Hitler we have unelected Global oligarchs who rule, and give all of our sovereignty as people to the "beast" system. Instead of racial genocide, we will have merit based genocide, and courts that will determine your worth to the world, and if they deem you unessential, Then they will be justified in killing you, and you know that if anyone disagrees with these oligarchs, they will be among the first to Go. The Word of God does speak of "climate chaos", But this is the doing of God to bring plagues upon mankind to bring repentance. It will also serve as evidence that false messiah is not who claims to be (declaring himself to be god), and this climate chaos will be used by the two witnesses to prophesy against the Antichrist. But when Christ Jesus he will restore His creation to the created order and rule and reign for a thousand years on earth doing so. So as you can see, My conviction and resolve against "man made climate change" is based on the MEANS by which global government is going to accomplish their ends.... The ends DO NOT justify the means. I Also have faith that God will restore the creation in his time, and all will be beneficiaries of this mercy. There is no need to tax the very air we breath (out), But The true solution comes from the quelling the desires of the wealthy and the powerful from acquiring more wealth and power. When Christ Jesus Rules this ambition will be gone. Or as Ronald Reagan used to say "In this present crisis, Government is not the solution to the problem, government is the problem". Meaning the number one culprit in the climate chaos of our day is the centralization of the power in government. all one has to do is look at China, and Russia with their environmental catastrophes under communism to see what going in the direction of Globalist governance will do to the environment. it will only accelerate the problems, because power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I Do not know if this will change your Opinion or not? But this is why I do not support globalist solutions to solve this problem such as the Green new deal, and the Paris climate accords. They are the wrong approach to solving a problem that is biblically unavoidable and unsolvable until the Lord Jesus Returns, and are being used to Justify tyranny.

  28. Interesting take on this as Jesus, when asked which is the greatest commandment, replied in Matthew 22-35-40 Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Without realizing it, when you obey these two commandments, you are also obeying all the Law and Prophets!

One Light point is valid in the sense that if a dialogue is in progress and someone replies with a page or two with scripture that references the main word in the topic, then it is not a dialogue anymore. Suppose you reply to the reader and encourage him to write what is in his thoughts about the topic and he continues with scripture verses, then it all becomes rhetorical and interest is lost in the thread or with that particular person and it also flags that person to be unread by me at least as his method in conveying his message becomes boring. Not to say that scripture is not to be posted to substantiate a reply, but only scripture without some human soul searching is kinda telling me something else. We all are spiritual beings and we can reflect that by sharing our thoughts too, not just only quoting scripture endlessly. Psalm 119 King James Version (KJV) 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. edit ... want to see an example of scripture bombing. Go to the current thread titled " Why do Christians continue to sin, are they unconverted ". Here I tried to dialogue with a fellow and the response was just quoting scripture.

  33. What One Light is talking about is that some people only post scripture without explaining what they're trying to say,it sometimes makes no sense to see all the verses being posted without really knowing what they're talking about! I do agree with One Light,he's only trying to help people to grow in their walk with the Lord,Jesus talked to people while He was on earth ,He didn't only quote scripture .

  34. Really for me there is nothing quite like being corrected of my own misunderstandings, errors, or an outright sin, as in seeing scripture posted before my eye plain and simple. It is easy to mis a personal opinion, but very hard to dance around a well placed passage inspired of God and shared by one that has better knowledge than I do. I love it, for I do not like to continue in my errors, I'dmuch rather get ot rethink my own conclusionin the face of a counter revealing scripture.

  35. I agree with this. When it comes to teaching, guidance, and debating we need to be using scripture to support our positions. Going by the link's definition of scripture bombing the key thing seems to be the spirit the message is delivered with. Does it say "I'm right and you're wrong and here's the scripture to prove it." or is there compassion and empathy in the presentation?

  36. Yes, which is why I highly encourage communication about application. Just throwing scripture out there to look good is sad.

  37. I understand, I never heard of that, to me I was taking it as someone posting lots of scripture to back up their beliefs (which over done can be self defeating). But yes, I would agree posting scripture and not explaining the connection is rather useless, it is like the calendars with a scripture of the day. It is nice "oh...that is an interesting verse", but with no explaining or reference to connecting scripture that explains the spiritual truth it is just as if someone quote Socrates or Shakespeare.

  38. I skipped past Neighbours post, too much scripture.....could have stopped at the chapter and verse reference to the sermon on the mount . It could be argued that Jesus was quoting a lot of scripture but we do have to keep in mind that he was delivering a sermon and not having a discussion with a group of friends. Using scripture to prove or back up what we are saying is important, we should be doing it for clarity.....with 1 proviso, there be only the proper amount of scripture to ensure we are not proof texting. Doing that is a skill in itself....... Laser bombing ? I think what One Light is saying is important because we really do need to learn to take the words of God and share them in our own words in ways that work in the culture we are in, something I think for me, is one of the primary purposes of this forum. Using bible quotes would then not be used as a back up to our belief but as the source of what we are communicating.

  39. Scripture bombing is not a length as much as it is a style. FresnoJoe never used this style when posting, even when he only posted scripture with one simple question. Those who scripture bomb do so to silence any objection to them as it would take a very long time to answer everything if you can get past the confusion of their posts.

  40. Yes, they are free to do so, but at what cost to their message? As you said, they normally get unread, so they are "preaching to the air". If people just throw out scripture in such a way, what are they really trying to do? Sound knowledgeable? Show they do their homework and have a better understanding? It doesn't take much to copy and paste, but it takes understanding and wisdom to show how they should be applied to their lives. Teaching how to apply His word to our lives is not found in scripture bombing, but in communication between people.

  41. My husband shared something with me this morning that gave me hope and faith! We were talking about our argument he said, you forgot to pray every day this week... i told him I was just scared to initiate but I’m so happy to hear that he wants me to pray every day. he said don’t forget to pray every night and he said that he’s embarrassed to admit it but he is Secretly hoping for the “irrational” - meaning for God to help us. i have scriptures and prayers written out and I’ll write more to pray for us!

  42. NASA claims plants have already improved: https://climate.nasa.gov/news/2436/co2-is-making-earth-greenerfor-now/ "A quarter to half of Earth’s vegetated lands has shown significant greening over the last 35 years largely due to rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, according to a new study published in the journal Nature Climate Change on April 25. An international team of 32 authors from 24 institutions in eight countries led the effort, which involved using satellite data from NASA’s Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer instruments to help determine the leaf area index, or amount of leaf cover, over the planet’s vegetated regions. The greening represents an increase in leaves on plants and trees equivalent in area to two times the continental United States." Curious that, plants are improving. But on a massive scale. Here in Cape Town pollen is at all time record levels. That's the current situation, it's all better. You didn't provide a link for your study on reduced minerals in specific grains in possible projected conditions in 2050.

  44. If a guy in 1750 guessed that the heating trend would carry on a bit, does this prove climate change? Yes, the climate is always changing. One has to prove that we are definitely the major source of co2, and that additional co2 is definitely the cause of the climate change. And co2 seems to be good for plants, apparently there's a pollen spike now. We eat the nutrition from plants, what is the best balance? Don't get me wrong, I'm open to facts, I just having seen anything convincing yet.

  45. Hi Ashlee, Briefly, I was Born a Lutheran, Raised a Baptist, and consider myself a member of the Body of Christ, which is not a denomination. I take it this for a project or a study, I wish I had forums on the internet when I was in college to do these surveys, as they would have been so much easier. 1. I am a Premillennialist dispensationalist, who believes there is a final week for Israel the nation to be restored. When the fulness of the gentiles comes in, the church will be raptured from the earth. I Believe this will happen before the wrath of God, But the church will face the Great Tribulation and the mark of the beast. (Pre-Wrath) 1b. The Millenial reign of Christ is a thousand year reign on earth of Jesus ruling from Israel. The nations will still be around, but subservient to Jesus the Ruler. Those who partake in the first resurrection will rule and reign with Christ for that thousand years, and continue on in our heavenly bodies to be with the LORD Jesus when the Millennium is over and go to heaven. 2. The apostacy, The falling away from the Love of the Truth, Jesus is the Truth. This is and has been happening for the past century with the Post modern mindset that makes all truth relative, and Began with the "higher criticism" movements of the end of the 19th century. 2b. Creation is groaning for the revelation of the sons of God. (Romans 8:22, paraphrased) It is waiting and yearning for the restoration as much as we who live by the Spirit are yearning for the return of the LORD Jesus. That being said, much of Climate change is Pseudo science used to instill fear and control in the population, so that the rising beast system (global government) can control every aspect of your life. Jesus Will bring restoration to the climate, something the Beast (false messiah) will be incapable of doing and part of this climate chaos will be brought about by the two witnesses, and the other by the plagues of revelation. 3. The institutional churches of men emphasize paradise and feel good theology, The Word of God emphasizes judgment. With Judgment comes vindication for those who have served the LORD, and in the end God wins, and those who serve him will be rewarded accordingly. So depending on where you are you will view the final week and the tribulation it brings with fear and horror or Joy and sorrow. God Bless.

  47. I was looking up the situation. Sorry about the drought, we had one two years ago. It wasn't pleasant. So yes those trees are undergoing stress. Sometime within the last hundred years, each place on the planet will endure their worst drought of that hundred years. Within the last thousand years every single place on the planet will endure a moment which is their worst drought of that thousand years. The planet goes through patches of increasing temperatures, and decreasing temperatures over long periods of time, going in and out of ice ages naturally. You have shown a short period of minor temp change in graphs. I think that's all you have shown.

  48. The graph appears to show rising temperatures the whole time, but that is a false impression, because it is referring to global anomalies from a Norm. It shows that before 1950 there was global cooling, temperatures were below the 30 year average. 1950 to 1980 was relatively stable, since then the anomaly has only averaged about 0.4 °c above the 30 year norm. That's hardly significant. So you use a graph showing this upward trend, but your average reader wouldn't realise it represents global cooling before 1950. And only an average of 0.4 °C higher after 1980. And you are applying a global graph to Germany and showing pictures of a patch of dead trees. Thats emotive imaging. Forests have always had dead tree patches, the alternative is a fantasy land forest with eternal trees. So your picture means nothing. And there is no comparison over 4000 years, I mean we managed to get out of an entire ice age without human intervention, which involves far more dramatic temperature rises than the graph indicates. Who knows if the current 0.4 degree average anomaly over the last 40 years is even caused by humans considering we have had much more impressive improvements in global warming via past natural causes. So the example you use far from being convincing. Is a perfect example of the kind of badly presented and over exaggerated information presented. It's not done deliberately, you didn't do it deliberately but it's cool to jump on the bandwagon of popular causes, and it's natural for humans to be swayed by confirmation bias. Net effect is a neverending media stream of confirmation bias from cool guys following a trendy cause.

  49. To use individual examples like the Marshall Islands without excellent statistics is to me appealing to emotion not logic. Logic says every location on the planet will statistically reach its most extreme weather even without climate change. Eg where you are living has its rainiest year in a hundred years, it's driest year in a hundred years, it's hottest year in a hundred years, it's coldest year in a hundred years, it's stormiest year in a hundred years, most tornadoes in a hundred years. Highest storm surges flooding coastlines in a hundred years. Rainiest day in a hundred years. Hottest day in a hundred years. Coldest day in a hundred years. On average, every ten years one of those situations should statistically occur in your location. To ascribe climate change to these extreme moments is just being statistically unaware. Every century, statistically one of those disasters should occur; being the worst in 1000 years at your location. So if you are looking at 100 widespread locations EVERY YEAR there should be on average one location on earth experiencing its WORST MOMENT IN 1000 YEARS. Taking this logic further, if you are looking at 1200 locations, every month, one of these locations should be experiencing its worst disaster in 1000 years. (maybe hottest day, maybe worst storm etc) In the information age, it's easy to find these locations, and ascribe climate change to it. Journalists can have one big story every month, worst drought in 1000 years for the Marshall Islands. Worst spring tide storm surge in 1000 years flooding the coastline of LA etc etc Yet the weather disaster is actually statistically expected even without climate change.
