  1. This devotional by Charles Spurgeon is very encouraging, especially if we feel we can't do too much. Faith's Checkbook, Charles Spurgeon Blessing on Littleness He will bless them that fear the Lord, both small and great. (Psalm 115:13) This is a word of cheer to those who are of humble station and mean estate. Our God has a very gracious consideration for those of small property, small talent, small influence, small weight. God careth for the small things in creation and even regards sparrows in their lighting upon the ground. Nothing is small to God, for He makes use of insignificant agents for the accomplishment of His purposes. Let the least among men seek of God a blessing upon his littleness, and he shall find his contracted sphere to be a happy one. Among those who fear the Lord there are little and great. Some are babes, and others are giants. But these are all blessed. Little faith is blessed faith. Trembling hope is blessed hope. Every grace of the Holy Spirit, even though it be only in the bud, bears a blessing within it. Moreover, the Lord Jesus bought both the small and the great with the same precious blood, and He has engaged to preserve the lambs as well as the full-grown sheep. No mother overlooks her child because it is little; nay, the smaller it is, the more tenderly does she nurse it. If there be any preference with the Lord, He does not arrange them as "great and small" but as "small and great."

  3. Well...tired of the jobs where your at...move somewhere where there's jobs in your field...or perhaps learn a trade that is in demand where you live. I did both. In high school I was sick of my town....so I moved to Nebraska to Bible college...and got married. I absolutely loved the town I lived in, but couldn't find any work that paid very well, so I ended up moving back to Wyoming, and got my CDL because CDL jobs are in high demand in my home town. I went from working min. Wage jobs to six figures a year just by moving and gaining job skills. Don't blame the government, instead do something about it.

  5. Figure, we can discern a number of very certain things from the Biblical descriptions of the gifts of the Spirit. The clearest treatment of the subject in the Word is found in 1st Corinthians chapters 12 thru 14. Generally speaking: There are 9 specifically identified "gifts of the Spirit" of which discerning of spirits is one. But He seems careful to warn us not to assume too much about how they operate. Different gifts, as well as different ways the gifts will be administered, and different ways they will operate. I kinda hear Him saying "Don't put Me in a box.....I might surprise you" I think it is possible that He might manifest the discerning of spirits in a visual way. But I don't think He's limited to that, and my own experience with the gift has never been visual. "differences of ministries" leaves room for more than one application. Is He talking about becoming aware of the presence and activity of evil spirits, angels, or discerning the condition of a human spirit? I think the answer is "yes" All of those are potential manifestations of the gift of discerning of spirits. He can use any born again believer to display any of His gifts through, any time He chooses, any way He likes. They are literally aspects of His own nature and ability, shared by His choice with whoever He wills, when walking in those gifts is necessary for the advancement of the Kingdom. If we believe . Pray about it, be open and available. He will teach.

  6. BTW, we all get depressed, discouraged, lapse into bad habits... Life is long this too shall pass. I read somewhere of a tribe in Africa (in time past) that had no concept of time. They actually died when in captivity because they had no concept that the captivity would not end. That's how we all are (to a lesser degree) especially when things are not going well. When we are sick we feel like we'll never be well again. That sort of thing. Just remember this when you are tempted to think it's never going to get better etc.

  7. Dear sister, have you never had a pet that showed it's love for you, a dog that comes squirming, wagging it's tail and licks you, ...or a cat the comes and lays down on you, purrs when you caress it, kneads with it's front paws on you to show it's love for you, ...do we not form an emotional bond with our pets and when they are dying, their eyes look into our eyes and pierce our hearts, and we grieve when they leave us? ...every cat or dog that I have had the pleasure to be with definitely had a soul, ...what is our soul, is it not the seat of our emotions? Like I said, ...every animal I've known certainly expressed their emotions. Also the Word tells us God created animals with emotion: And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. Gen 1:20 On the fifth day of creation God "spoke" the animal kingdom into existence and then He adds this information for us: And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. Gen 1:21 The word created is bârâ', ...the second time it is used in creation, ...so if the animal kingdom already existed, and we know all animal life is made from the elements that all ready existed, ...the question is, ...what did God create bârâ', ...ex nihilo, ...from nothing other than His "Thoughts," ...the answer must be their souls, ...their emotions. We see the same pattern in the creation of man, ...God explains to us He fashioned (Gen 2:8) man from the dust of the earth Gen 2:7, ...but on the day he was created: So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them. Gen 1:27 The word created is again the word bârâ', ...and Gen 2:7 tells us man "is" a living soul and the Word tells us elsewhere man has a spirit. God shows order in His creation, plant life is the lowest in creation that we can see, observe with our eyes, then animal life which has a soul, ...but not a spirit, and then man who is the crown of His creation that is "soul" and has a spirit, ...living inside of a body. Lord bless

  8. Yes, you won't hear a lot of stuff taught in Churches today. A lot of teachings are watered-down and simplified for the sake of no offending others, compromising with the times, or simply poorly educated on the Word. It was prophesied to be this way in our times though. A popular question. It's a big subject which I shall try and compress for you for the sake of time. Yahweh did not always ask Israel to do this - women and children were typically spared. But this was for a very particular group of people at a certain time. - Those populating Canaan. There was effectively a genetic issue with the Canaanites and others populating the Holy Land. It goes all the way back to Genesis 6, when the fallen angels mated with human women and created hybrid humans. These hybrids, of Nephilim, were the principle cause of the Flood and are detailed a lot more in the apocryphal books (that were found in the Dead Sea Scrolls) such as the Book of Enoch and the Book of Jubilees. Now, after the Flood, these hybrids of fallen angel and man survived (probably through the wives of Noah's sons) and mainly through Ham's lineage. These descendants populated the land of Israel (or Canaan back then) deliberately and was probably by the direction of Satan. Effectively, whilst Israel was in slavery in Egypt, Satan was aware that he had about 400 years to setup a minefield for the Israelites as these hybrids were all concentrated in the Promised Land. Therefore, when the time came for Israel to claim the land, they were instructed to destroy that people entirely, whose genetics were corrupted and had the potential to corrupt others with their offspring. They had something severely unnatural about them and they certainly weren't just peaceful human villagers. I realise that's quite a lot to take on as it's a big subject. But hopefully that gives you a little insight into why Yahweh may have instructed for all of them to be wiped out. Because it certainly wasn't the standard. Love & Shalom

  9. Yes, women are told to “ submit” to their husbands. That is just “ half” of God’s equation. Men are to Love their wives as “ Christ loved His Church”. Christ gave His life for the Church. The lesson here is for a man to treat his wife like GOLD! Women just might naturally “ desire” to submit to a man that does HIS part...

I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. I can do all this through him who gives me strength. " Philippians 4

  13. We as Christians believe that God created the universe and our world and that He cares for us and loves us unconditionaly as His children. We learn this from the bible. As humans we have known this from the God's love letter to us (the bible) for a long time. God spoke in Genesis in the spiritual and the world came into being in the physical. We should should therefore never change scripture to just suite what we want as we will find that what we meditate on will not bring truth into the material world. In Revelation states that we should never change the Word and that infact this would bring plagues onto us. N.B. the poetic books are God speaking of His heart of love for us and is less literal but Revelation as mentioned is to protect His love letter to us.

  14. @PromisesPromises! God loves the sinner and also all his people even though they are not walking with him. He seeks to bring us back to him again . But he does not love the sin, he hates it. God loves people but he hates the evil that they do. Is that you are trying to say ? Both yourself and @Not me is correct. You are speaking about people, and Not Me is speaking about the evil that they do.

  16. I don't believe that government has anything to do with it. The government is nothing but the tax payers. Are the tax payers obligated to provide you with a wage you want, to have the life you want? Of course not. Our government was built on the idea of self reliance. The idea that it's up to you to find a solution your life, and for a Christian, that's with G-d as your provider, not government. Now I have known people who worked at McDonalds for life. And they made good money. Something like 80% or so of all store managers and district managers, started off as hourly crew. IF you are working at McDonald's longer than a year, and still making minimum wage, then you are doing something wrong. You can move up to management, just by showing up... working... and getting along with people. I was working at a parts store, Advance Auto Parts, and they wanted me to be store manager.... because I showed up on time.... I worked the entire time... and I got along with people. When you ask "How can families afford to live off minimum wage", to me that is a ridiculous question. If you have a family, then you had better be doing something that pays more than minimum wage. Burger flipper at McDonald's is a job for 3 types of people. A: People in high school or college, working while they live at home and go to school. B: People who are retired, and want to be productive in their twilight years. C: People who intend to move up the corporate ladder. You can join the management training program, get tuition reimbursement, and end up on a management track at McDonalds. But if you have a family, and you are working minimum wage, then you are doing something wrong. Either you are not on-time... or you are not working your best... or you are not getting along with people. The American dream is perfectly alive and well. I know dozens on dozens of people who have the American dream. But the American Dream isn't "I get what I want, the way I want it". That is has never been true, anywhere, or at any time in history, of this country or any other. None of us gets exactly what we want. Sometimes we have to take what opportunities are presented to us. You said you were in the tech field. That's a bit vague. But the bottom line is, there are plenty of jobs. Tons of jobs. You need to do what you must, to get the job you want. That may mean moving to a new area. All the people I know, all of them... that have a $50K+ income... had to move to where their job was. All of them had to. All of them had to network. You need to contact people, and talk to people you knew in college, or people you know from a previous job. Or someone a relative knows. Networking is huge. If a company gets 50 applications, and 2 of them come from people they know... they are more likely to hire from the 2 people, than the 48 even if those people have more qualifications. You need to get a degree or a certificate. Now you can still succeed and get a better job without them, but it is harder. Having Cisco certification, will quickly get you hired, whereas otherwise you'll be hunting longer. And you need to be open to doing a job you don't really like, until you get a job you do. Working, at anything, will get you a better job in the long run. That company will call up your current employer, and what they want to hear is "Oh crud! Yeah, he's a good employee, and we really don't want him to leave!". If you are not working your butt off at your burger flipper job, then it will be harder to get your future job you do want. But it's not governments job to fix your life. You need to either move to where the jobs are, or you need to work harder than other employees, or you need to get along with people better. But the solution to your problems are not out there in society, and new minimum wage laws, and such. Those things never solve anything. The solution is in your mirror.

  18. I think God hiding can be a little misleading. OT many times says God hid His face. Yet is that what God did was hide? We have Christ in us now. And the holy Spirit "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.." What I meant by can be misleading is...well if your weak in the faith and you don't feel God hear Him .. something like this one might take it as.. GOD is hiding from me because of sin. Which does not happen. He is in us will never leave us. We can grieve the Holy Spirit but He never hides from us. Christ dying rose for the sin of the world. Out actions if we play with sin can stop the holy Spirit from working somewhat in our lifes but.. He is not hidden as I understand what WAS OT vs NT. But 100% agree.. we do as the word says.. turn way.. run away from evil darkness. On and on. Now.. as it always has been darkness flees/runs from the light. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. But He is ALWAYS in us ALWAYS on.

  20. Hair covering was a custom of that day for woman believers, as prostitutes did not cover their hair showing wonton behaviour. Thus Paul was desiring that women believers cover their hair as a `cultural sign` that they were in submission to their husbands, and not wonton. Foot washing was a custom of that day also etc etc. Women (believers) who do not cover their hair today are NOT prostitutes. Marilyn.

  21. Minimum wage service jobs are way more numerous. They aren't "college" jobs, where some pimple-faced kid itches his backside for 4 hours and gets a few pennies and he can get by all hunky dory. It's people trying to pay off debts, to cover cost of living, to support families. It's a job that bars you from working full time so they don't have to pay you as much or offer benefits. Let's take for example a fellow named Frank. He comes from a low-income family, that lives paycheck to paycheck. He really doesn't have money just laying around. Even a tech school might charge 20k in total. So he has to get a low-paying job, $9 and hour at about 16 hrs a week, IF he is hired. That's $144 a week, $576 a month, not accounting for taxes. That means he's going to have to work 40 months in total to fully afford school. Over 3 years of parttime work. He wouldn't be able to afford rent, so he's either stuck with mom and dad or the messy business of multiple roommates (which would make saving up nearly impossible). Getting a loan still means he would have a debt, with interest to boot. Sure, he could join the military and get it paid for, but why must one do so? One shouldn't have to put their life at risk just to try and go to school. I'm not fond of the idea of dying on behalf of some stupid banker, myself. If you graduate with a debt, you are barred from that diploma until it is payed off. Heck, if the previous year isn't payed for, a good number of them won't let the student continue taking courses until they are paid in full. Then many employers are super picky, even in service jobs. So you're over 18, with no degree, and aren't going to college? Dismissed. What, you don't have previous experience, when you can't gain experience if you are never hired anywhere? Dismissed. It's putting rubbish on a shelf, you long-neck twit, it's not rocket science. People act like being a waiter is a job for some stupid college kid when that's just not the case. Minimum wage barely covers the amount of gas you put into your car each month, much less food, rent, whatever else. Just because they did not or are not going to school does not mean that they should be treated like dregs. Mopping the floor isn't glamorous work, but someone has to do it. They all fulfill vital functions to society, important cogs in the machine, and yet "oh just get a better job, why not go to school, what do you mean 'people don't have money', blah blah". Outdated and ignorant ways of thinking from schmucks who have or had it easy. Maybe they aren't smart enough for schooling, for some jobs. Must they starve and struggle just because they aren't bright? Must they be regarded as of little worth when they're trying to make a living? I'm sorry for blabbering, but this just kind of sets me off.

  22. I just thought I would post this verse. The Lord loves us and has and does go to great effort to help us along the way. To me--its a wonderful thing to dwell on. Rom. 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

  23. Good to know. I also so love nearby Romans 8:15 "....we have received the Spirit of Adoption...". Luther says it should be "Spirit of Childship." I like Luther's translation much better but I have found only one English dictionary that lists "childship" as a word. The Holy Spirit of Childship gets us born again, and intercedes for us. We are so fortunate thanks to Jesus.

  24. well if she wants to make some money tell her to go back to a tech school and learn to do something with her hands..... she could go to work here as a welders or aircraft mechanic after about 18 months training in access of $25 an hour. Electrician certifications are also good to have...... most college degrees are pretty much worthless unless they are engineering or financial or teaching degrees. We are short of teachers here, but the pay isn't as good as for people who have hands on skills. My son is about 40 and he's working for AT&T with the knowledge he gained at home and a short trip to votec training and he's making a six figure salary + benefits.... Having a college degree just doesn't make it in a lot of areas.... example is having a masters degree in English.... what can you do with it and how many others are there competing for those few jobs.

  29. I do believe you can discern spirits without actually needing to see them.... especially the dark ones for they emanate something that some people can pick up on.... I don't think I ever researched the Bible concerning it. I stopped seeing them when God told me to stay away from them and they away from me.... I don't think people see them unless God has some reason for it to happen.... but that's just some experience on my own part and not anything scriptural I am aware of. The people I remember in the Bible that saw both good and bad spirits did so because the Lord had a reason for them to. I have seen some thing that resemble them when taking Percocet for pain but I think that was just in my own mind.... and I refuse to take that drug any longer for any reason.

  30. Barbarian regarding the claim that Newton rejected "atheistic evolution." That would be impossible for two reasons. First evolutionary theory is not atheistic. Darwin, for example, wrote: There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed by the Creator into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being evolved. Charles Darwin, last sentence of On the Origin of Species Second, no one in Newton's day knew about evolution. But evolution was unknown in that time, contrary to your earlier claim, and of course, you just learned that evolutionary theory isn't atheistic; Darwin was a theist when he wrote the theory. It's dying slowly, as more and more people become aware of the evidence, and because Christians are showing them that evolution is completely consistent with God's creation. The reaction against this trend has produced the deistic concept of "intelligent design", which has increasingly seduced YE creationists to become deistic in their thinking, with out realizing that it espouses a blind metaphysical necessity to justify its assumptions. No, it's because as the evidence for evolution grew, YE creationists turned to deism as a way of presenting a "scientific creationism" and "design." The intellectual failure of that new religious movement was exposed at the Dover trial, when it was found to be devoid of scientific content. Creationism won't bring Him into your heart. Just open yourself to Him, and let Him in. Start with telling Him that whatever He did to create the world, you'll accept it His way. Then you won't be troubled about this, any more. Set aside your pride and disbelief, and just let it be His way. It's simple, although many like you find it difficult. Don't walk away. Do it today.

  32. It is the best of times and the worst of times for a guy. Flesh to lust after is virtually everywhere. Less than pornography, but sliding down the same slippery slope... And pornography used to be limited to red light districts, movie houses, magazines... etc. But now you can get it piped into your home. Lust is a powerful drive God placed in us to perpetuate our species. God also gave us guidelines where and how to BEST relieve those strong urges (specifically: marriage). The best thing you can do (short of a miracle) is force yourself to do something else when the urge to click on what you know will end up in porn. Get up, go to the other room, turn off the computer... every time the idea hits you... it's called building discipline. When it becomes a habit / discipline... guard it like a precious gem. Sex is even more addicting than smoking and smoking is more addicting than shooting heroine. Lust is a formidable enemy. Treat it like such. Or fail.

  33. One of the downsides of being young is you have less of a sense of things coming to pass. They come, they pass. Life is long, longer than it seems when you cannot find work in the field of your studies. Take advantage of that time honing skills like expanding your work ethic in another job... one you might even consider menial. You got to pay bills anyway. Point I'm getting at is experience. Don't pass up opportunities like this to gain experience. If nothing else, it will make you appreciate your work in your field of studies all the more when you finally do get the work!

  44. Agreed. He is the figurehead and the ruler of Sheol, the underworld and the denizens of the deep. But like all the others, he will die 'like a man' and be despised by all. The word NACASH (Gen 3) has a triple meaning. He appears to have notoriety because he is the first to sin and usher in death to mankind that we are told about. The actual time-frame is debatable, but he appears to have been the first 'sinner' on our planet.

  46. My grandchildren are going through what you face. Fortunately they have been holding jobs for many years--since they were 16. They are minimum wage jobs. But employers look at those to gauge reliability and diligence. Most often working these jobs open doors to others of more responsibility. Often they are much different than what they took in college. So be flexible and willing to go in another direction. God sometimes closes doors and opens others to move us where He wants us. I have one son who is still working the job he majored in and the other is not. He had 2 degrees and then got a technical degree in another field. He followed that for years, but that degree plus the experience in that field qualified him for the job he has now. It is far from his original goals. All of that took many years. My advice is to praise God in all circumstances because He is worthy. Be satisfied. Heb 13:5 Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] [Jos 1:5] Heb 13:6 So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me? [Psa 27:1; Psa 118:6]

  48. Good video to watch. It seems that satan is trying VERY hard to disarm worry-oriented believers of the Helmet of Salvation. ("You aren't truly saved" "You've lost your salvation!") For me my worries started with this, and it's lead down a bad road of self pity, discouragement, intense self focus, which is a place you want to get out of immiedieatley. Really, disregard the worry as much as you can and trust in Jesus to lead you out of it! Feel free to PM me.

  50. Dear sister, First, congratulations in graduating college. That is something to be proud of. Jesus knows all about your struggles. After all, He permitted them, and for a good reason: to build you up by standing firm in your faith. You are an overcomer. Paul probably had the hardest life of all, yet he finally came to the conclusion that he could be ok in any circumstances---whether well-fed or hungry. I had no job for nearly 10 years. Was it hard? Sure it was. Jesus wanted to know what my response would be. I had down times---really down times. But what would I do? That is where God wants us---trusting Him---not ourselves. Jesus said we would have problems in this world. I think he meant it, don't you? When we are on the mountaintop, no food grows there; there is no nourishment. But when He puts us in the valley for a time, it is lush with food for our soul. Jesus had nowhere to lay his head, and he wants us to understand what that's like. Everyone who has it all now, who is living it up and partying and enjoying their wealth, who want nothing more---will have nothing more. But we who give it all up for Christ's sake, are waiting for a kingdom of riches we cannot fathom. "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." There are no conditions. Our responsibility is to believe it. You said, "I want to be fully confident that I am saved and a child of God." What did Jesus say, "If you say to this mountain, 'Go throw yourself into the sea,' and do not doubt, but believe (there's that word "believe" again) in your heart that what you said will happen, it will be done for you. I say to you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe you have received it and it will be yours." Don't make it complicated. Jesus said his yoke was easy. Believe him.
