  1. My wife used to work at a doctor's office and had a woman with the same problem... roach in the ear...
  2. My answer to this part of the question is this... Parents love their children. But sometimes you have to let the child experience the feeling of the hot burner on the stove before they will truly know what "NO! It's Hot! Don't touch it!" means. The child only sees a mean person who doesn't let them do what they want. They don't see the love the parent has, nor do they trust that the parents have the best interest for the child in mind when they deny something to them. This is the way that God is. He has identified Himself through His creation (Luke 19:39-41), through His scriptures, through His people. The point is that everyone has had the opportunity to hear from and about Him. Consider all the people who died in the Flood. All had the opportunity to obey God whether they were there with Noah or not, and yet they chose not to and were thusly not saved from the consequences of their own sinful nature.
  3. How many people did Paul persecute or watch get put to death? My guess is MANY... but did that stop him from getting saved? No. There is not enough information for me to make an educated guess about whether or not Calvin or Mother Theresa made a confession of faith and turned their lives over to God, so I wouldn't begin to presume anything. As for righteosness? There are none righteos, not one, save Jesus. If John Calvin or Mother Theresa were saved, then Jesus will speak up for them at the judgement. But that will between them and God, so why even try to guess about it?
  4. He comes from his mother and father... Do I win? :-)
  5. That is a great question. Since "The Law" had not been given, they were pre-law. They were kicked out of the Garden of Eden due to the sin of Adam, and thus no longer allowed in Gods' paradise. Because salvation is by Grace or Law (with the Law being made inconsequential through the Blood of Christ) and neither were available at the time of Adam and Eve, I imagine it would be up to God to allow Adam and Eve into Heaven. When I get to Heaven, I'll be sure to look them up! If they are not in Heaven, then someone else can look them up! lol! @Hall7 - I realize the definition of the word "race" according to the dictionary/wikipedia. But as Qnts2 stated, I don't think the separation of differing peoples by using the word "race" is a Biblical concept any more than denomination is. I think it is a man-made idea entirely. (Forgive me if this sounds rude. I really do not mean it that way)
  6. Personally, I think the word "race" should have been left out. There is but one race... human... There are many differing peoples and ethnicities, but only one race. What "race" were Adam and Eve? Human... what ethnicity? All of them as all peoples decended from them. What color was there skin? Don't know. I'll find out when I see them.
  7. Animals eat whatever.. I'm convinced of it... A couple days ago, I saw some finches eating the meat off of a discarded mostly eaten chicken wing. Never thought they would be meat eaters either. Crows are carrion eaters, so no surprise that they would go for a dove. Seagulls on the other hand normally eat seafood. I guess "dove" tastes like chicken of the sea to them...
  8. The Dominion? Yeah, that would be one time I'd want to see the arrogant Q get the better of the arrogant victims of his games. I'm not thinking of the Dominion as they were from the Gamma quadrant and not living in the wormhole. At the beginning of DS9, commander Sisco went into the wormhole and was met by the beings who lived inside it/controlled it. They were going to close the wormhole or at the least, de-stabilize it. They had the ability to shift Sisco through time, as well as mix different events from different time periods together. I'm not sure these were "The Dominion"... but I'd sure like to see them fight The Q...
  9. I'm with The Patriot! I think it's funny... What is surprising is that people forget how wild birds are... They know "eat, sleep, have kids, repeat". And people are shocked when a predatory bird attacks its natural prey?
  10. Frankly... my health/family well-being/and sanity are much more important than my job. If I feel that I couldn't make it to work and home again after work safely, then I would just tell my boss I'm not coming in because of it. If it costs my job, so be it... It's not about how safe YOUR vehicle is on the icy roads, but how safe are the vehicles of the OTHER drivers on the road? How many times have you heard about someone being careful while driving when they are plowed into by a careless driver? I have been in a situation where my employer wanted me to come in during a snow storm justifying it by stating that the roads were clear enough to travel now. My response was "Ok.. how safe will travel on the roads be at the end of the shift seeing as how the snow is supposed to continue all day?". He couldn't answer, but finally agreed that our store would remain closed and all staff could stay home.
  11. ^ This... it is a States rights issue, and not a constitution issue. The part of the constitution that was quoted earlier... "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"... what part of that is being violate by opposing or supporting gay marriage? The fact is the homosexuals still have life, they still have the same liberty a heterosexual married person or a single heterosexual or gay person has, and they still have the ability to PURSUE happiness... Homosexuality is a sin in the eyes of GOD, and that's all I am concerned with. Note: even the Constitution doesn't say we have the right to ACHIEVE happiness... only pursue it....
  12. Well.. first off... it is not really a fair comparison to try to figure something out based upon the material it is made of. Your dollar bills are not actually "money" but more like a "promisory note" that lists a value on it. Think "grocery coupon". The coupon itself doesn't really have a value, but there is a representation of how much value it can apply toward some type of good/service. The American Dollar is similar - each one is not "money" but a representation of value. Each bill has a representation of a specific amount printed on it. This form of currency is, in reality, a "promise to pay" note from you to the vendor. If you withdraw $20 from your bank, you are given a piece of paper that says you have $20. In essence they are promising to give you $20 of worth (it used to be that the dollar was backed by gold. i.e. for every dollar in the U.S. there was $1 worth of gold in a vault in Fort Knox) of something. Today, our currency is just based upon a good feeling, or a handshake, or some other nonsense. So yes, the paper the money is printed on is actually just that.. paper.. mind you it is a strange, weird, unique type of paper, but paper nonetheless.
  13. I believe that the dinosaurs died in the flood. The collapse of the water canopy described in the flood account would have exposed these animals to UV radiation for the first time whereas before, they would have been protected. (Consider insect and plant sizes in tropical rainforests.) When the flood waters started rising, the animals would have started looking to higher ground and those with lower mobility (i.e. slugs, etc) would be the ones that would be caught up in the waters first and thus dying earlier. Larger and faster moving animals would have been able to escape the rising waters until the water table reached above their ability to tread water. This also explains why invertebrates are seemingly on the "earliest" dated parts of the fossil record. They couldn't outrun the water and mud that were coming. Anyway... that's what I believe.. I have a bunch of scientific reasons to back it up.. but I think others may be able to explain it much better than I can....
  14. I get online for a multitude of reasons as well... work, fellowship, entertainment, etc. I'm a geek, and into PC Gaming. Gaming is a way for me to wind down after a stressful day. And besides, there aren't many places around my home that would allow me to drive a WWII tank!
  15. I would like to see Q versus the beings in the Wormhole outside DS9...
  16. Don't like hunting or camping? Try Scuba!! My wife and I LOVE it! Here is a link to a pic of my wife and I at about 35 ft. https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/yourphotos?pid=5632227706116377490&oid=117492741242546602475 (Can't embed the pic here for some reason)
  17. I have been this way for many years. I have been getting pretty disturbed about a lot of the teachings of some of the local churches here. In my journey to separate biblical doctrice from tradition and dogma, I am finding myself more and more contrary in my beliefs to the majority of the organized churches. Don't get me wrong... I still believe that there is but One GOD, that He exists in three separate yet equal parts (The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), and furthermore that these three are the same. I still believe in the Cross, and what Jesus did for me there. I still believe in who I am in relation to The Father. And I still believe that without Jesus I was bound for an eternity separated from Him, and would have always been missing something in my life to make it complete. That being said, I find myself not agreeing with "supposed" biblical teachings and traditions of todays modern church. I do not like the "seeker" mentality of "Invite your friends and family to church! Even if they are not Christians, we will do whatever to make them feel at home and welcome". I disagree with celebrating "halloween" and calling it a "harvest festival". I disagree with teaching that the Saviour was crucified on Friday and rose on Sunday. I disagree with the thought that a church has to have another "program" to attract more visitors when the Bible and Jesus were enough, etc. Ad nauseum. There are many "traditions" that have crept into todays church that I earnestly believe would have stirred Jesus' wrath as the money changers in the temple did. Because of that, I find more and greater fellowship here, and through small group Bible-Study with others much more beneficial, encouraging, and uplifting than consistently attending any of the local churches I have visited. I don't call myself a "baptist, pentecostal, methodist, etc." I call myself a Christian. Okay.. I'll return you to your regularly scheduled discussion...
  18. I guess I don't get what you are trying to accomplish here... Personally, I own my PC, and three laptops. (My wife's Laptop runs Windows XP. One laptop runs FreeSpire Linux, while my PC and other Laptop dual boot into Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux.
  19. Great video! Thanks for sharing that. I really appreciate Toby Mac more and more as I get to see all he does in HIM.
  20. Cross, As Kwik has stated, I am not sure if any of us here can fix your relationship with your wife and family, however, I can offer this advice. 1) Do seek God with all your heart. 2) Confess to your wife what you have mentioned here, and earnestly ask for her forgiveness. 3) Forgive yourself for your past. 4) Know that God loves you so much, and values you so much, that HE sent His son, Jesus to die on the cross for you. You are THAT important to HIM. Finally, I would ask you do this: Make a conscious effort to be the man God wants you to be by getting into the Word more, praying more, and speaking with your wife daily about your journey and ask her for help. It is ok to admit to her that you are struggling, and that you don't know how to fix it. A wise brother once told me that a marriage is a daily competition between a man and wife to see who can out-please the other. Try to win daily. 1 Thessalonians 3:16 Romans 1:9
  21. Quite honestly, it's HIS establishment. He does have the right to choose whom he will allow in his restaurant. If he doesn't want kids, then fine, don't take them there, go elsewhere. If you want to go to a place where you won't be bothered by other people's children, now you have a choice.
  22. I've been a big ST fan for a long time. Would rather watch Firefly, but all of the Star Trek series (TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise), and all the movies each have their merits. I still like to watch TOS for the Bones/Spock interactions, TNG for Data, DS9 for Quark, Voyager for Chakotay and Neelix, Enterprise for Archer and T'Pol.... I think they have done a great job with the latest series, and was really impressed with how Benedict Cumberbatch played Khan.
  23. I would submit to you that those people you encountered were not Christians at all. Unfortunately, there are many who try to play the "Christian game" and have no relationship with the Savior. Look at Matthew 7:21-23: There are many who call themselves "Christian", and yet, as the Bible states, not all who do are really believers. I am sorry that you were the victim of these actions by people in the name of Christ. But I can say to you that these are not representatives of the Lord I know.
  24. Thanks for the welcome! I do believe in the Trinity. Didn't mean to direct any comment to toward you, just wanted to make a distinction between the common interpretation of "Death Angel" and God himself in regard to the scripture. (I actually had to stop a preacher in the middle of a revival sermon in order to correct that. Didn't wan't anyone to hear false teachings without being corrected as I did not know how many would return to hear the truth).
  25. Actually, it was The Lord Himself that went through the city and killed the first-born. From Exodus 11 4 Then Moses said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt; 5 and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the animals. The "Death Angel" or "Spirit" is a hollywood interpretation... I will now return you to your previously scheduled discussion.
